So I took my best friends to see this movie. After making them cry a few times, my bug loving friend and I discussed what bug each Thunderbolt would be. So, here we go this is gonna be a long post. It’s me talking about bugs and over analyzing things

Yelena Belova - Paper Wasp

First one we decided on so let's talk about our queen Yelena first. Yelena is a wasp, for sure, and a lot of wasp species act generally the same so that doesn't matter a ton. However, paper wasps in particular are a lot nicer then other species. Unlike yellow jackets (hate those guys), paper wasps typically only attack if their homes are threatened. I think this shows Yelena's practical approach to violence, everything she does she does for a reason. Also, on a sadder note, female wasps are typically not the 'fighters' of their groups. They stay and take care of the brood. I think this could match the fact that Yelena was forced into a life that she wasn't 'made for' or at least a life she had no choice in. Beautiful, dangerous, and amazing team player; Yelena is a wasp.

Ava Starr - Ghost Mantis

Okay that one's pretty obvious on name alone but I have more reasons. One being the nature of mantises. Many mantis species move so quickly you can hardly see them, corrosponding with Ava's powers. Mantis are also deceptively strong bugs and the ghost mantis had this sort of weird beauty to it that I really enjoy and think matches Ava. Ghost mantis are also on the smallest side of the mantis family and females particularly will play dead as to help their camoflauge better hide them. I think this fits Ava's tendency to hide literaly and metaphorically.

John Walker - Ant-Mimicking Spider

Originally I said Walker was a fire ant. Incredibly strong, annoying and mean as hell, and a great team player. Then, my wonderful and intelligent friend brought up the ant-mimicking spider. Not only does this allow me to keep my ant reasonings, it also highlights another part of Walker's character. He adopts a persona that isn't his own, we see this majorly in TFATWS and it carries through into Thunderbolts*. Walker is trying to be something he isn't, at first Captain America and then he tries to project the image of a happy father to Yelena, Bob, and Ava in the Vault. Walker is a mimic of things prior and he struggles heavily trying to be someone he isnt, but by the end of the movie we see him become who he's supposed to be. That being, U.S Agent. Also, these spiders put up their front two legs when mimicking an ant and that could move into how Walker is the one to put his shield up and dive into action first.

Bob Reynolds - Miyama Stag Beetle

Or just a stag beetle if you dont wanna be too specific. Bob was second hardest and I went back and forth on this but I like a stag beetle for a few reasons. One, Miyama stags are one of the smaller stag beetle species. Not the smallest or the largest, but compared to those MASSIVE ones you can find they're littler. Still, these are crazy strong bugs and that corelates with Bob's weak looking appearence compared to the power he posseses as the Sentry. Smaller reason I chose this specific stag beetle, it's black to match the Void. Also, all beetles start at meek little grubs and become the tanks that they are. To me this matches how Bob was just a troubled young adult that got turned into something greater. Also, I think they're cute.

Honorable mention to the Mole Cricket, solely because they have the same face.

Alexei Shostakov - Elephant Beetle

Okay this ones easy. Look at the SIZE of him. Big and powerful creature, yet they look terribly friendly. This one wasn't even a debate with the afformentioned bug friend, I was shown the elephant beetle and instantly agreed. I don't have as many story or character related reasons for this one. Purely based on shape and vibe. Big ass beetle, take it or leave it. If you want a little bit of character, while not done by elephant beetles, some species of beetle (mostly burying beetles) are good parents! So there you go.

Bucky Barnes - Buck Moth

This is another one where the name is doing some heavy lifting but stay with me! One, the color scheme. Two, the name. Three, the caterpillars of buck moths are hella venomous and just touching them can cause you some major ouch. Bucky is a pretty prickly guy. Also, buck moths are endangered and Bucky is a pretty endagered species seing that he's of a dead generation and made by a (thankfully) dead orginization. I also like a moth for him because, despite all the terrible things that this man has put up with, he's still attracted to the light. To being a good guy.

So Yeah. ThunderBugs! If some big old bug nerds want to tell me how this is all wrong uh.. do or don't man I'm going off vibes and wikipedia articles and prior knowledge. im doing my best.

so i finished my sketchbook and started a new one. Except it isn't technically a sketchbook and is actually a herbarium so it has a little box thing with the common & scientific name, date, location, and notes so i went full science for some reason???

all these notes are written like. semi-diagetically as if someone actually stumbled upon the actual genuine monster-species of Ithacan Naga(s) and took notes.

AND the scientific name thing led me to a small rabbit hole of the full scientific classification/taxonomy for them. And i have no idea if the taxonomy is correct. at all. read that if you want.

He is too ashamed to say that he added metal music in it (because his sister dragged him to different concerts while they both were kids) so he turns it down saying that you added it and forgot about it

But what about your music? What about it? You both share a playlist so you have to listen to each other’s tastes

Well to start off with the basics, he’d listen to anything you add in that playlist (yes even the erotic songs that he talked to you about)

And this is how he gets introduced to different genres of music, not just classic or the famous most recognized top 0.0001% Steel Samurai themes

He is genuinely praying for your wellbeing if you listen to something like Ayesha Erotica (he is traumatized, *deeply*)

He has to be sincere with himself (which he isn’t 90% of the time) but he enjoys some of the music you added there

In 90% of the cases he doesn’t mind the lyrics of the songs or the meaning of them but if an explicit or a REALLY sad one plays then he skips it. Simple

If you somehow as an ‘’accident’’ add a brainrot song there then he’d cringe on the spot and ask his inner self ‘’Why out of every song of this existence, why this monstrosity? I absolutely despise it just why this? Why?’’

Torture him with that music nonstop and you'd get an annoyed Edgeworth that will simply ignore you for 1-2 days

Universally (just me), we can all agree that he would like Bad Apple!! if you add it on your shared spotify playlist

If you both share the same music taste (classical music) then boom you can consider you both married and neither of you has proposed

Let Edgeworth decide on the picture of the playlist and for the name, he would leave the playlist be named the name spotify puts when you both don’t know how to name it and the picture be nonexistent

Assigning things to killjoys: my grocery trip 2 days ago edition. Disclaimer the only one of these products I’ve ever actually used is the blue takis so there’s not a lot of bias or anything.

Item one: jet spoons. Party would see these with Ghoul and they’d make eye contact in the store and buy them. Jet and girlie would fuck with these so hard, unfortunately to the point where now Girlie ONLY will accept food if it is on the jet spoons

Cobra takis: on Kobra would purchase these no thoughts head empty and then HATE THEM SO BAD (I have not tired them but he so would do that)

Dragon sweet chili takis (??) would be something ghoul buys with a similar thought process as Kobra and they’d cobra takis, except he actually likes them (would prefer the cobra takis)

Poison would buy these out of horrified curiosity as to what a non spicy taki tastes like, and then be horrified to find that they like them. This causes deep shame and they will never admit that these are their favorite.

Jet would like the blue ones and everyone would say it’s bc he just likes the color blue but that is only half correct because he does really like them

Alya 10000% has a guilty pleasure of reading Rena Rouge shipping fics. Her and the other heroes have laughed at fics about them but she still slinks off to her room to read a new Rena Rouge x Carapace that just posted. She especially likes the obvious Rena X Carapace fics, and Rena X Ladybug ones. But she has a soft spot for the more out there rare pairs. Like Ryuko x Rena Rouge. Though she'd never tell.

But her biggest guilty pleasure is Reader x Ladybug.

Either way she doesn't read anything too steamy. But she does get pretty blushy during the hand-holding scenes no matter the fic.

Things only get worse when everyone has their identities revealed, and Mari revealed herself to Alya.

TLDR: Alya has a whole folder marked "Ladyblog Research" that is just her favorite Rena Rouge X BLANK fics. She is a frequent visitor of AO3

why are naps mandatory fur archival drones?

The same reason old books in library archives are in climate controlled rooms and are handled with gloves. Safely.

Data safety, in this case. The hibernation cycle helps to lock in the data a PAK is carrying, and acts as something of a cleaning cycle to wash out the unnecessary data. In an archive drone's case, unnecessary data is basically anything unrelated to their job or the archive they're carrying. PAKs do have a storage limit, but for most Irkens they'll never reach it. The exceptions to this are those with large sections of data and knowledge to cart around, which applies to many Tallers and all Higherarchs, including the Tallest. However, these Tallers also will upload their data in a backup in the Collective anyway. Naps are important for the health of the PAK and Irken, but they're not going to reach the storage limit anytime soon.

An archive drone's PAK, however, is like 90% specialized data. The remaining ten percent is dedicated to understanding how the current regime works, basic physical functions, and just. Existing. The PAK will also prioritize physical safety over old data and for an archival drone, that 90% of data, the very reason they exist, is old data. It absolutely cannot be deleted so that drone has to nap.

Additionally, they're a class of Irken whose purpose is just to exist, so they have a lighter workload anyway. Unless someone needs to look something up, the little jobs that make up their day can be done by someone else.

This also means that a drone you met two cycles ago probably won't remember who you are.

The other reason naps aren't mandatory for Higherarchs is because it doesn't have to be. Being tall means carrying a heavier body that tears through snacks and energy faster and you tire faster. Naps are also a luxury item, and most Tallers are all too pleased to use it. (Unless your name is Foma who does have mandatory naps. Partly for the same reason the archive drones do (classified specialized data that's too large to just float in the Collective Memory) but mostly because she refuses to sleep, given the option.)

my notifs recently got me thinking about the very random concept of "what if there is a second, secret CHB. directly below normal CHB." and i ended up brainstorming it in the discord.

context for how this originated: one was just a random notif on my post talking about the tunnels under the Hephaestus cabin, and the other was some tags from @drksanctuary on my fake readriordan article mentioning the idea of a chthonic demigod camp.

so. my brilliant (read: "smashing my 2 brain cells together") idea: the elaborate and seemingly infinite tunnels under cabin 9 are remnants of an abandoned underground CHB that exists directly underneath camp. It's basically just normal CHB except in a big cave system, probably connected to the labyrinth somewhere and has the separate tunnels, and instead of the Olympian cabins it has chthonic cabins. there's probably also some infernal nymphs and etc down there too. since all chthonic demigods can learn to shadow-travel they probably used that to get down there, and a lot of chthonic demigods probably have geokinesis just by nature, ergo the tunnels (for when they don't want to shadow-travel, or can't).

in brainstorming with the discord we decided it could be cool if some of the cabins lined up with the above-ground cabins, either for thematic purposes or associations or whatever. Like there's maybe a Hermes and maybe Poseidon cabin in the chthonic CHB too that just link to the above-ground ones, but also like Persephone cabin lines up to Demeter cabin because of course it does. and maybe Hecate cabin lines up to Cabin 8 cause Artemis is sometimes 1/3rd of Hecate. Maybe Angelos cabin is beneath Cabin 1, and Zagreus cabin is beneath Cabin 12. Things like that.

The other ones i thought of were either Hypnos or Thanatos cabin lines up with Apollo, because twins, and the other is just right beside it (because twins). And Charon's cabin is beneath Cabin 9, ergo why the tunnel system connects to it (because Charon. Ferryman. Surface access. It makes sense in my brain).

i wish we knew what viola means when she calls people "star of chaos" 😔 like we know categorically she labels herself, algol, kilik, and edgemaster that way. but like what does that mean exactly? most of the other soul classifications are used to tell us what the persons souls relationship is with the astral chaos. like it makes sense to me why these 4 would be lumped together but its more based on vibes than anything, i cant think of a trait they all share that would lead to them being labled like that. sidenote, part of me wants to say thay talim would also be a star of chaos if she was in sc5 but thats pure speculation

"new moons" are also interesting to me because they contain astaroth (a golem), nightmare (essentially a puppet that uses a dead mans body), elysium (a fragment of algols soul given sentience), and raphael...for some reason. why is raphael there? it almost makes me think "new moons" are people who dont have a soul of their own, given the first three. so like ? is raphael undead now or something? is this more proof that hes just a ghost now, damned to wander the mortal plane forver in search of his daughter?
