Yk, I hate that adaptations keep making Peter a high schooler, and not just because it means he never evolves, but because the adaptations now also include wider Marvel, whitch usually (thanks to the MCU) is at the modern day stage with legacy characters and new age teen heroes, meaning that Peter is taking up Miles' spot and you can really tell when they put him next to someone like Kamala Khan or Sam Alexander who are Miles' pals. Tho Peter taking Miles' stuff is just a modern issue overall, just look at MCU whitch just stole and re-skinned Miles' personality, characters, story-beats, even the costume to an extent and then made it worse.

alex garland's last several projects have been deeply questionable and this american civil war movie feels so irresponsibly exploitative at the worst possible time. it is not profound to probe the question of "What if large scale conflict broke out stateside today?" this is already, has been, continues to be, a country of people that hate each other and want each other dead. there are so many people that deeply truly want a scenario like this to be real, right now, and it is so disturbingly unaware to take that scenario and make it a big budget summer thriller with the energy of Wouldn't this be crAaaaAazy? 🤪

I gotta say I did not expect I’d love Miles this much, enough to look up shit like Secret War and Civil War II reading order, and worse, subject myself to Bendis’ writing of all things (he’s the reason why I stopped being a comic stan 5 years ago. I were a DC/ Superfam fan. You know the beef was BEEFING). Like, my tolerance of that dude now only stops at him being one of Miles’ creators. So that better writers can do the kid justice years later. That’s it.

Like, why is the “r u and Ganke together haha” a whole shtick that comes up multiple times during his run? It’s so annoying and painful to read. Miles can go around being paired up with different girls but the moment THAT question came up you know he gonna be super defensive and >:( about it which, eh, just does not line up with anything else happening in whatever story is happening at the time. At all.

The only silver of light is that Miles actually never says he doesn’t like boys, he just denies ever dating Ganke. Like, he could just say he doesn’t swing that way and the question would have stopped, but he doesn’t. So I know he be running around kissing the punk-est boy in the whole spider verse, ha!

Idk I’m near the end of Bendis’ run and some of it r good but a lot of them put me thru excruciating pain (cringe) so I have to complain about it.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday called on the West to offer Ukraine "tangible and credible" security guarantees as it battles Russia's invasion.

Stressing that Ukraine "is today protecting Europe", Macron said in Bratislava that it is in the West's interest that Kyiv have security assurances from NATO. 

"That is why I'm in favour, and this will be the subject of collective talks in the following weeks... to offer tangible and credible security guarantees to Ukraine," he added.

He said various NATO members could provide these guarantees for the time being as Ukraine waits to join the alliance. 

"We have to build something between the security provided to Israel and full-fledged membership," Macron said.

The French head of state is on a visit to Slovakia, where he delivered a speech at an event organised by the international affairs think tank Globsec.

The event, focussed on regional security issues, comes in the run-up to the NATO summit in Lithuanian capital Vilnius on July 11-12. 

Macron recalled that he once called the Western defence alliance "brain dead" but said Russia's invasion last year "had jolted NATO awake". 

"We need to help Ukraine today with all means to carry out an effective counter-offensive" against Russian forces, Macron said.

"It's what we are currently doing. We have to intensify our efforts because what will happen in the next few months offers a chance even for... a lasting peace."

Macron also called on EU nations to buy European arms and acquire in-depth strike capabilities.

"It is up to us Europeans to in the future have our own ability to defend ourselves," he said.

"A Europe of defence, a European pillar within NATO, is indispensable. It's the only way to be credible... in the long-term," he said.

The French leader also called for EU enlargement, to bring more countries into the fold.

The European Union should "invent several formats" to meet the membership aspirations of countries in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, he said.

Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine itself are among the countries which have applied to join the European bloc, but conforming to the accession rules can be a difficult and timely procedure.

"Yes, it (the EU) must enlarge. Yes, it must be rethought in terms of its governance and its aims. Yes, it must innovate, no doubt, to invent several formats and clarify the aims of each of these formats," Macron declared.

"This is the only way to meet the legitimate expectations of the Western Balkans, Moldova and Ukraine, which must join the European Union, and to maintain the geopolitical effectiveness, but also the climate, the rule of law and the economic integration of the European Union as it exists today," he insisted.

The two alternatives are to make candidate nations "wait indefinitely" or to let them swiftly join the existing EU structure with the risk that the bloc will no longer be able to function.

Macron will next visit Moldova on Thursday where he will meet with fellow European leaders, including from outside the European Union.

Enbarr finally learning what House Nuvelle’s involvment in this mess was has their House erased (Constance mentions she lost her family, is it just the House Nuvelle name or they died?) and she ends up in the sewers.

Sam chose to fight again for Steve. Against the government, and now he's an Avenger, more or less, helping people on a larger scale than the VA

Bucky...well, we all know what the Winter Soldier did, but without ever being the Winter Soldier, he'd have never gotten to see Steve again (not that the Winter soldier shit wasn't bad. It was awful)

Again, don't get me going on my rant, but Steve and Wanda have similar origin stories. Was getting experimented on a mistake? Maybe. They both lost and gained family along the way.

I've been watching the political right in North America for about 7 years now and I can tell you three things:

1. The American government is collapsing on both ends, but the right is crumbling way faster as the party is going from corrupt bastards to corrupt bastard fools. Additionally, the far right is getting more concentrated, more toxic and much more liable to commit violent crimes.

2. Things are very likely going to get bad to one extent or another, so you need a Bug-Out Bag, Even if it's just a backpack with some long lasting food, water and basic supplies, being able to leave suddenly might be useful. In particular, think about your local area and what would immediately want to be doing in that situation, whether that's fleeing or fighting.

3. Vote for the Dems and specifically vote for Biden. Biden is a infirm stupid old man who is so out of touch he thinks kids still say "Verily debaucherous", but the opposite end is ramping up towards more hostile actions. It may not stop the violence, but if the Dems win at least there's more resistance to anything happening.

Personally, I don't think they win in any situation; even if Trump becomes the Lord Emperor of Murica, it won't last long before collapsing under the crippling stupidity of those involved. Even then, the party itself is not going to be able to remain like this for much longer, but it's death throes may end up killing a lot of people.

If I'm wrong in a few years, I want you to come to my blog and call me every slur under the sun, but I'd rather you're at least vaguely prepared if something does happen.

Today's court ruling weakening discrimination protections for LGBTQ people stands out as extraordinarily strange to me for the simple fact that there was no case. The web designer in question never received a request to create a website for a gay wedding, but instead argued that a hypothetical situation in which she did would violate her rights. I've never really heard of anything like this before— how does she even have standing to sue? Can @radiofreederry or someone with more knowledge of legalese than me elaborate on this?
