"contentment in singleness" doesn't require you to stop desiring marriage & family. it doesn't require you to stop pursuing marriage & family.
Christians are called to be content in any situation--that doesn't mean we abandon all our good desires and concrete goals.
contentment is to trust/rest in God's promises to love you, provide for you, and make you holy.
you can do all of those things, and earnestly want and seek a husband.
He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22
"Favor from the Lord" meaning, of course, blessing as the result of a life molded by wisdom.
Now, how can one find a good wife without seeking? Seek without wanting? And how can wisdom and contentment be mutually exclusive?
#this post brought to you by the drive home from church yesterday#when I realized that I'm very comfortable (and have been for awhile) where I am#unmarried and unattached but planning to be otherwise#and if I'm always planning for something that never happens? well that's just fine too#I'll have spent my youth becoming the woman I always wanted to be--not for a husband and children but for my parents & the church#and I think it took realizing that I didn't have to give up a good desire before I could *actually* be content#we are called to desire Christ's return always. that doesn't equal discontentment with our lives right now.#Christianity#x#for me it's now as simple as the Created Order fact that MOST people need to marry and procreate to keep civilization from collapsing#and on another level (mapped OVER that fact) it's as simple as God's ordinary means of kingdom-building being families#but goodness knows Christian young people have been inundated with so much overthought on this subject (myself included)#that it's necessary to parse it all out sometimes

I love being queer and I love being a mormon, but there are times when I'm just so tired.
#im really glad i found queerstake because i definitely would have left the church by now if not#i can't believe i went that long without any kind of community#i just guessed that there were other people like me because i couldn't possibly be the only one#but i hadnt met anyone yet who was queer a member and was planning to stay and i just felt so alone in this#i was actually on the verge of leaving and giving up when i stumbled across a post#i dont even know how it could have possibly crossed my path it was so random i really think god put it there because there is no way#especially in the moment i needed it that badly#it was just a part of a liveblog from a general conference that was especially rough on me and i saw the queerstake tag#because like. i dont want to leave. why should i have to i like it here i dont want to leave just because people dont want me here#and i just really want to be there and hopefully be fully out one day so that queer kids in the church can see me and know they aren't alon#but there are times when im just so bleh and tired and sad#vent#tw vent#queerstake

The hets and book fanatics are all in an uproar because HBO delivered the most delicious filler episode in ASOIAF/GOT history. Full of homoerotic fan service, angst and comedy, meanwhile, setting up the foundation for the remainder of what will undoubtedly be a bloody, horrifying, epic season.
It was a pure stroke of genius, a genuine romantic comedy in the middle of a medieval tragedy.
They understood the fucking assignment.

#about to go and have a discussion with my current ministry leader about taking over for her#she's the administrator for the entire church and I have more time + passion and plans for this ministry#my dad (in the worship leader rotation) even said I would make a good Official ministry leader#I would have a leg to stand on in training and in asking for better organization from other teams I work with#it's very chaotic rn because one woman is overseeing pretty much everything and I would like to make it... different#I'd like to implement some things but I don't really have any place to ask for them right now#I feel like I can't ask speakers to get me their verses by Friday instead of on Sunday morning#I can't implement an inter-team preservice meeting because I'm not in charge#I would like to be#however I am very small and nervous. I'm only 21 idk if they'll go for me being In Charge of this#but the overall church admin has said I have administrative skills. I come in and help her during her office hours when I have time#I know this ministry and all I'm essentially asking for is to be a stage manager instead of just a technician#anyway. yeah pray for me please#Lu rambles#faith tag

So. I was scheduled 9-5 today
And, around 10, my manager comes back from her lunch saying ‘we need to problem solve’
Apparently the closer called in with a fever audibly sick, and there’s no one else to call
So i agreed to ‘go home’ and come back at 1pm.
Except home is a 30 minute drive, only to be home two hours (less at this point), then drive all the way back here.
And i dont know if i want to waste the gas. But i dont exactly want to be in the parking lot for 3 hours either
