Spicy Prawn Sandwich

It's hot and sunny, the skies are a cloudless blue, the ideal weather for a picnic! And this Spicy Prawn Sandwich makes a delicious, mouth-watering al fresco meal, whether it's by the sea or in your own garden! And you can even bring it indoors to tuck into it whilst watching the Rugby World Cup opening clash between Les Bleus and the All Blacks!!! Happy Friday!
Ingredients (serves 1):
a generous bunch Garden Cilantro
1/4 long red hot chili pepper
1 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 small lemon
a dozen fresh prawns, steamed and cooled
1/4 cup thick plain or Greek Yoghurt
2 heaped teaspoons Mango Chutney
1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala spices
1 teaspoon olive oil
100 grams/3.5 ounces freshly baked Baguette
a pinch of salt and freshly cracked black pepper
a few leaves gem lettuce, rinsed and spin-dried
1/4 cucumber
Finely chop Cilantro, and spoon into a medium bowl.
Thinly slice chili pepper, and add to the bowl. Add olive oil, and squeeze in the juice of the lemon halve. Give a good stir.
Peel prawns, and add them to the bowl. Toss well to coat in herbs, chili and oil.
Place in the refrigerator, to marinate, a couple of hours.
Spoon Greek Yoghurt into a small bowl. Add Mango Chutney and Garam Masala spices. Give a good stir, gradually adding olive oil, until well-blended. Set aside.
Halve Baguette, without cutting through completely. Generously spread mango mixture on both sides. Arrange gem lettuce leaves onto the bottom side.
Remove marinated prawns from the refrigerator, and season with salt and black pepper.
Thinly cut a few slices cucumber, and arrange them on top of the lettuce. Finally, fill generously with spicy marinated prawns, pressing gently to close sandwich.
Enjoy Spicy Prawn Sandwich immediately, or wrap tightly in cling film if bringing as a picnic!

A couple of new curry houses have opened recently, so I tried one last night.
Mafiz’s Kitchen has replaced Magna Tandoori. It is still run by the family, although a younger generation.
It didn’t start well as I almost tripped over a couple to towels that were by the door to stop the draught. They seemed quite surprised at having a customer.
I got a table and again the staff member seemed surprised that I needed a menu! It almost got more comical with every interaction, from messing up the drink order to forgetting the spoons for the chutneys - but it wasn’t funny it was just terrible service.
I ordered my normal poppadom and chutneys, an Onion Bhaji, a Lamb Saagwala and a Peshwari Naan. I did check the ‘meat’ was lamb before ordering as it was not specified.
The poppadom was fine, there were four chuntneys. The minty one actually really nice, although a little thick, the mango one was nice too. The red onion one was awful.
The Mango Lassi would was insipid and I couldn’t drink it all.
The Onion Bhajis were alright. Not the best, but not the worst.
The Lamb Saagwala was tastier than I hoped nice, not too wet.
The Peshwari Naan was beyond bland, the word that came to mind was anemic. I left half of it.
The poppadom and 78p and the chutney tray was £2.89. The Onion Bhaji was £3.49, the Lamb Saagwala £9.49 and the Peshwari Naan £3.49. The food total was £20.14, which was a very overpriced compared to what the other Bedford Curry Houses charge. They forgot to charge for the Lassi and I didn’t notice at the time, maybe they deducted it because it was obvious how awful it was.
I gave the Mafiz’s Kitchen 3.75 out of 10. The poppadom/chutney got 0.5 (out of 1), the Onion Bhaji 1 (out of 2), the main 2 (out of 3), the naan 0 (out of 1), the Lassi 0 (out of 1), the service 0 (out of 1) and the price 0.25 (out of 1).
The Magna Tandoori received 6 out of 10, so an impressive reduction in score, which plants them firmly at the bottom of the Curry ratings.

The Lunar Child, a second incarnation of the Lunar Clown. after his recent assassination by the Church of Tears, who hoped the strategically publicised death of their brand icon/god might boost declining tear sales. his remains were intercepted on the way to the clown recycling plant and reassembled by clowngovernment agents. they did their job poorly, fucking up their orders humorously as clowns are wont to be genetically predisposed to do and many of the Lunar Clowns bits and pieces were accidentally sent rolling down a hill and into the Chuntney River, where they were carried moses-style into the nearby town of Chuntney. there they were fished out by various villagers, some of whom realised their value and sold them on the black market, some of whom thought they would make nice living room ornaments, some of whom used them to replace their own lost body parts and doubled in power, some of whom ate them. The Lunar Child, a less ambitious and hastily made sequel to the Lunar Clown, is continuing to be as flagrantly ambiguous in his role, intentions and power level as his “father” was, if not more so, and is currently on holiday in on Pale Beach, a territory of Clownmoon 99. it has yet to be confirmed how this will affect Church of Tears clownstockholders.

Chapdi Undhiyu
Chapdi Undhiyu is also called ‘Tavo‘. Its famous dish in kathiyawadi.(saurastra). 
Ingredients
Chapdi
2 cup wheat flour (thick), 1 tbsp cumin seeds, 6 tbsp ghee or oil, 1/2 cup milk, salt, oil (for deep fry)
Method:
Make stiff dough from above ingredients. Make chapdi (thick puri) with hand. Deep fry chapdi in hot oil at low flame.
Undhiyu
Ingredients
1 potato, 1 brinjal, 2 onion, 1/4 cup green peas, 1/4 cup carrot, 1/4 cup udad dal, 4-5 tomatoes, 1 tbsp garlic paste, 2 tbsp dhanajeera powder, 1 tbsp red chili powder, 1/2  tsp turmeric, 1 tbsp green chili-ginger paste, oil, salt, 2 tbsp coriander
Method
1) Boiled udad dal.
2) Put 2 tbsp oil, add finely chopped potato, carrot, brinjal,green peas,add salt,turmeric,red chili powder, mix it well.Add 1/4 cup of water & pressure cook for 2 whistle.
3) Put 3 tbsp oil, add garlic roast for 30 seconds. Then add chopped onion, roast it for 1 minute. Then add tomato purey, cook for 3-4 minutes.Add red chili powder, dhanajeera powder, turmeric,green chili-ginger paste. Add boiled & crushed udad dal.
4) Add vegetables ,cook it for 4-5 minutes, add coriander.
Red Chutney
4-5 fresh red chili, 5-6 garlic cloves, 1 tomato (chopped), 1 tbsp jaggery. Crush all ingredients to make paste.
Tadka-  1 tbsp oil, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds,pour on chuntney.
      Serve chapdi with undhiyu, red chutney, green chutney (coriander, green chili), sprig onion & chas.
