Mini Fanfic #1253: Who I Am (Sonic X SSBU)

7:13 p.m. at the Smash Mansion's Living Room..............

TV Screen: ('Piano Playing')

Peach/Shadow: (Sitting Together in the Living Room's Sofa, Watching Golden Girls and Singing Along to It's Theme Song) Thank you for being a friend~ Travelled down the road and back again~ Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidanteee!~

Shadow: (Bopping his Head a Bit While Singing) And if you threw party~

Peach: Iiiinvite everyone you kneeew!~

Shadow: You would see the biggest gift would be from me~

Peach: And the card attached would say-

Shadow/Peach/TV: Thank you for being a frieeeeeend!~

Peach: (Giggles Softly)

Shadow: (Turns to his Mother) What's funny?

Peach: (Turns to Shadow With a Loving Smile on her Face) Oh nothing~ Just admiring lovely your singing vocals are and how adorable you are for singing the Golden Girl's theme with me~

Shadow: (Turns Away While Blushing) Well, it is a catchy theme song.....

Peach: Very catchy!~ But I believe it sounds even more beautiful when the two of us sing it together, don'tcha think?

Shadow: (Simply Nodded in Agreement) Agreed. (Turns Back to Peach) Just.....promise me you won't tell anyone about this? Rouge....and Sonic especially.

Peach: (Giggles Some More) Of course, dear!~ I won't say a word. (Gives Shadow the Sad Puppy Dog Eyes) The last thing mommy wants to do is upset you~

Shadow: i could never be upset with you, no matter how hard you try, mother. I'd be more embarrassed if anything....(Notices Peach's Pinky Reaching Out to Him)

Peach: You promise?

Shadow: (Crosses his Pinky with Peach's) Completely. (Turns Away While Blushing Again) I...love you by the way.

Peach: (Let's Out a Loud Gasps Before Happily Pulling Shadow into Loving Hug) I love you too, sweetie~ Always~ Thank you so much for spending the rest of the evening here with me.

Shadow: No problem. I enjoy my time here. It's far less depressing and stress inducing than watching my past unfold in the big screens....

Peach: (Frowns Worryingly as She Picks the Remote Up From the Sofa Next to Her and Uses it to Mute the TV Before Turning Back to Shadow) Shadow....is that the reason why you didn't join the others to movie theater this evening?

Shadow: That.....(Turns Away For a Bit) May or may not be the reason entirely-

Peach: (Gently Grabs Hold of Both of Shadow's Hands, Causing Him to Turn Back Her) Shadow, please, be honest with me. It's only the two of us in the mansion together and I am more than willing to hear and help out with whatever it is that is bothering you right now, without any sort of judgement on my end whatsoever. (Kiss the Top of Shadow's Hands in Front of Her) That I can promise you wholeheartedly.

Shadow: (Heart Begins to Melt a Bit Before Sighing in Defeat) Okay. I'll confess. I....don't think I feel conformable watching Sonic's new movie right now or ever at this point....

Peach: Is it because you're afraid of seeing your past get shown on screen like you said beforehand?

Shadow: (Simply Nodded) Yeah. I'm fully aware that it won't be completely accurate to what really happened all those years ago, I.....didn't want to take that chance. (Starts Cringing a Bit) Even more so now that I heard there are a good number of people excited to see Maria get shot at some point down the line......

Peach: (Grimances and Cringes at that Detail as Well) Yeah, I don't blame you for feeling that way one bit, honey. People are weird...........

Shadow: (Rolls his Eyes a Bit) Ain't that the truth.

Peach: Do you still think about Maria these days?

Shadow: I do. I try not to do so too much as I used to though or at least not let it effect my current life in any way. That's not too high of an order to accomplish, is it?

Peach: (Gives Shadow a Reassuring Smile on her Face) Of course not, dear. There's nothing wrong with trying to move on with your life, just like there's no shame in thinking about her from time to time. And I'm more than certain you have wonderful memories with her in the past, right?

Shadow: (Chuckles a Bit of the Fond Memories Him and Maria Shares) Definitely. Illness aside, she was more active and energetic than half the people aboard the ARK. She taught me all the Earth's history and customs, always have play make believe and dress up with her and Abe-

Peach: (Raises an Eyebrow in Confusion) Abe?

Shadow: (Whispers into Peach's Ear) It's the G.U.N. Commander's name.

Peach: ('Gasps') Really? I didn't know that. (Giggles Softly) Such a cute name for him to have~

Shadow: (Smirks a Bit) I find it more hilarious if anything. Don't tell him I mentioned any of this to you, okay?

Peach: (Sticks her Pinky Out Again) Only if you promise not to make fun of him for it.

Shadow: (Wraps his Pinky Around Peach's Once More) We've been making a lot of promises tonight, haven't we?

Peach: Yeah, but I don't mind so long as we fulfill them together.

Shadow: (Simply Nodded in Agreement) I suppose. But back on topic, Maria has done a lot with and for me since then. Even when her body starts to weaken on random ocassions, her optimism never flatters, her determination shined bright, and her smile still remains till the better end.

Peach: (Smiles Sadly as She Wipes a Single Tear Off her Eyes) ('Sniff') She was such a brave little girl.

Shadow: The bravest there ever was. I admire her a lot the more I think about her and will forever appreciate her for loving me in the first place. (Let's Out Another Chuckle) Starting to think she knows more about me than I do myself these days.......

Peach: (Frowns Again) What do you mean by that?

Shadow: It's......('Sigh Heavily').....Complicated. (Looks Up at the Ceiling) Every time i learn more about myself and my past, I always end up questioning my purpose in life. Doesn't help the fact that most of the truth and information I've discovered thus far, are more negative than I hoped for them to be positive, making me more loss and conflicted as time goes by. So, now I sit here and wonder- (Raises his Hand Up in Front of his Point of View) Am I really the Ultimate Lifeform the professor set me out to be or am I this experimental freak, originally destined to wreak havoc.....and whom should never exist in the first place, like the select few from GUN says behind my back?

And there it is: the nerve struck within the princess' core. She knew first hand that most of Shadow's distant co-workers would think lowly of him, but to hear him admit that right next to her not only broke her heart but almost manages to piss her off immensely.

But rather than screaming it all out for the world to hear, Peach takes a very deep breath and channels her enraged emotions into a very calm, nurturing one. The type of emotions mothers would use to help console their children through any problems going their way.

Peach: Do you wanna know what I think?

Shadow: (Gives Peach his Attention) Hm?

Peach: I think you're......(Gives Shadow a Soft, Loving Smile) An inspiration.

Shadow: Inspiration?

Peach: (Happily Nodded) Mmhmm. You had to endure so much heartache and anger throughout your life. From the loss of Maria and the professor to people thinking the absolute worst of you, even from those who are supposed to be your allies, like you said. But you never let it all bring you down forever. Instead, you've managed to forged a path for yourself and fight for what you believe in and for those you truly care about. And you being this all powerful, alien hybrid doesn't and most certainly SHOULDN'T change the kind of person you set yourself out to be: a survivor, a hero in your own terms, and like I said before, an inspiration to those who look up to you, even me. All of that and more is who I think you are, Shadow the Hedgehog.

All the negarive thoughts and self doubt slowly but finally begins tonwash away as Peach's words of encouragement has managed to reach Shadow to the depths of his core. He was going to think of something to say until he felt something....wet falling down on both of his cheeks. He then uses the of his hand to wipe some of it off him and notice it was something he hasn't seen a very long time: his tears.

It used to be pretty rare for him to cry like this, let alone show any emotions besides anger and slight bit of cockiness, but ever since he joined the Smash Family, his vulnerable side would start to gdevelop to come out more often than he would ever like to admit, especially when he's around his appointed mother. They're not even remotely related and yet......Their undying love and care for him over the years made him want to protect each and everyone of them with his life.

Peach: (Notices the Tears Falling Down on her Son's Face) Shadow, are you-

Shadow: (Comes Back to Reality Before Quickly Turning Away Again) I-It's nothing, mother. Just.....('Sniff') something on my eyes is all. ('Sniff') Nothing for you to worry about at all....

Peach: Oh honey, come here!~ (Gently Pulls Shadow into Another Loving Hug) It's okay~ I know it's been bothering for some time now, you don't need to try and hide it from me~

Shadow: (Shakingly Hugs Peach Back) I-I....('Sniff') Didn't want to burden any of you with my own- ('Sniff') Convulted problems!

Peach: I know you didn't, baby. But your friends, family, and I don't mind hearing and helping you out every now and then. We love you way too much to let you suffer like this.

Shadow: I know. (Let's Out The Most Heaviest Sigh He Made in his Whole Life) I appericate that a lot. I also apologize for souring the atmosphere of our time together with my sudden tears.....

Peach: (Playfully Pouts at Shadow) Oh stop!~ As a ceritified crybaby myself, I am more than certain that you didn't sour anything.

Shadow: (Pulls Away From Peach and Takes One Good Look at Her) But I don't see you as a crybaby. You're far more strong and admiration than anyone gives you credit for, even me.

Peach: (Heart Begins to Melt in Pure Happiness as Tears Starts Falling Down From her Eyes) Shadow.....('Sniff') (Pulls Shadow Into Her Loving Hug Yet Again) YOU BIG SWEETHEART, THANK YOOOOU!~

Shadowv: (Winces a Bit While Patting on her Back a Bit) You're welcome, mother...I.

'Ringtone'

Peach: (Looks Down to See a Picture of Rouge Appear on the Screen of her Tablet as it Rings) Oh, it's Rouge. The movie must be over now. (Turns to her Baby) Are you gonna be okay face calling her and the others?

Shadow: (Simply Nodded) Yeah. (Rubs his Eye a Bit) I think I've shed enough tears for one night...and hopefully the rest of the year for that matter.

Peach: (Happily Nodded in Agreement) You and me both, dear. (Answers the Call)

Rouge: (On Screen) Hey you guys!~ (Shows Off Everyone Else Present in the FaceTime Call)

Smash Family: (Happily Jumping Up.and Down and Waving Hello to Peach) HIII MOMMA PEACH!! HIII SHADOW~

Mario: (Happily Waves Hello on Screen as Well) Hello!~

Peach: (Happily Waves Back at Everyone Present on Screen) Hi everyone!~ (Forms a Seductive Smirk Towards Mario) And hello to you too, handsome~ (Makes a Kiss Noise)

Mario: (Tips his Hat to Peach With a Mirk of his Own) Milady~

Smash Kids: (Collective Groans in Disgust)

Peach: (Gives her Babies a Motherly Glare) Children, what did I say about being rude during your father and I flirty time?

Rouge: (Playfully Rolls her Eyes) Oh don't mind them, dear. The movie got them more hyperactive than when we first got in the ticket line.

Peach: (Giggles Softly) Is that right?~ I take it the movie itself was pretty good.

Rouge: It-

Sonic: (Suddenly Barges Himself into the Call, Wearing Some of His Movie's Merchandises) Was AMAZING! 100/10, Best Movie of the whole year! Would most certainly see it again!!

Rouge: ('Sigh') Yeah. What he said.

Peach: Oooh~ Such a high score~

Shadow: (Simply Shrugs) Not surprise. It's his movie.

Sonic: (Chuckles Lightly at Shadow) And yours too, Faker! Albeit in a main supporting role.

Rouge: Are you two having at hom- (Suddenly Notices Something About Shadow on Screen) Wait. Your eyes....(Frowns Worryingly) Shadow, have you been crying?

Sonic: (Eyes Widened in Genuine Surprise) Wait, seriously? (Looks Closer at the Screen as He Lowers his Shades Down) I didn't even notice they were red at first there. (Frowns a Bit) You okay, man?

Shadow: Yeah. I'll be fine for now.

Peach: (Gently Squeezes her Embrace on Shadow a Bit) He's been through a little rough patch minutes ago, but we've managed to get through it together. (Kiss the Top of Shadow's Forehead)

Shadow: (Simply Nodded) It's the truth.

Rouge: ('Sighs in Relief') Good. You know you had me worried about you all night, right?

??????: And me too!~

Rouge lowers her phone down to Hat Kid, giving Shadow a worried, pouty look on her face.

Shadow: ('Sigh') I know.

Rouge: (Wiggles Her Finger at Shadow) Nah-ah-ah-ah-ah! Don't you dare apologize, mister!

Shadow: (Raises an Eyebrow in a Bit of Confusion) I.....wasn't going to do that.

Rouge: (Raises an Eyebrow Back at Shadow) But you were planning on doing it, weren't you?

Hat Kid: Don't. LIE!

Peach: (Giggles Some More)

Shadow: (Groans in Mild Annoyance as He Rolls his Eyes in Defeat) I guess I was.

Rouge: Thought so. (Smiles Softly at Peach) Thank you so much for helping him tonight, your highness. (Turns Back to her Best Friend with a Pout) And as for YOU, mister, expect a crap ton of hugs once we get back!

Hat Kid: (Happily Nodded in Agreement) Mmhmm!~

Sonic: (Turns to The Rest of the Smash Family Behind Him) Hey, who here wants to hug Shadow when we get back to the mansion?

Everyone present in the call happily cheers ans raises their hands up to the idea.

Futuba: (In the Background of the Call) ME TIMES INFINITY!!~

Shadow: (Already Has a Deadpinned Look on his Face) I'm filled to the brim of excitement already.

Rouge: You better be. Cause we're gonna enjoy every second of it.

Mario: (Smiles Sheepishly) But not before getting something to eat first. We'll see you after then?

Peach: (Happily Nodded) Of course, enjoy your meals! (Smirks at Mario) Can't wait for yours later on tonight, handsome~ (Makes Another Kissing Sound)

Mario: (Smirks Back at Peach) You and me both, my beautiful lady~ (Winks at his Princess)

Smash Kids: ('Groans in Disgust Again')

Rouge: Annnd we're back to square one. Perfect (Giggles a Bit) We're see you back in a few, you two.

Mario/Hat Kid: (Happily Waves Goodbye on Screen) Buh-Bye!~

Peach: (Haopily Waves Goodbye Back) Byeeee!~

End Call

Peach: ('Sighs Dreamingly') I love our silly family, Shadow~ (Rolls her Eyes a Bit) Even Bowser to in some, lesser extent.

Shadow: Yeah. (Smiles a Bit) I do as well. (Notices a Different Shpw is Playong on TV) Looks like the marathon has ended.

Peach: (Eyes Widened in Horror) Oh no! We missed the series finale!! (Clutches her Fists Up in Utter Disappointment) Ohhhh now we have to wait a few more days for it to air!

Shadow: (Closes his Eyes and Crosses his Arms Together) That's unfortunate. (Opens One Eye to Peach) Wanna watch the Barbie Movie to the past the time?

Peach: (Puts on a Bright, Excited Smile) You read my mind!~
