Okay, so I know polls like this tend to boil down to "which character do I like/actually recognize."

And generally comparing who had it "worse" can be detrimentally reductionist all around.

But having said that,

Simply looking at the difference in required font size between the two tragic writeups, and the fact that Akaza/Hakuji's required multiple trigger warnings while Wen Ning's required none...

That alone, to me, would indicate that Akaza/Hakuji's life managed to be even shittier than Wen Ning's.

And Wen Ning, to my understanding, survives his series and gets a chance at happiness.

Akaza/Hakuji? His "happy ending" is not being alone when he dies in-story and literally goes to hell.

And, he dies without a single goddamn soul in the story knowing what he went through. Not even the otherwise all-loving main character heard a word of what happened to him. Only the audience and Akaza/Hakuji himself get the backstory reveal. The main character survived that fight because Akaza/Hakuji stopped literally refusing to die, stopped outright reviving himself, but never found out why Akaza/Hakuji did that. No one in the story ever really knew him. No one in the story will remember him.

"Multiple tragic things happened, but he got to live and seek happiness in the end." VS "His life was nothing but tragedy after tragedy and then he died and went to hell." Just saying.

All this to say that if Wen Ning is voted "most tragic" because voters couldn't be bothered to even read the provided concise description of the character they don't already know, I'm gonna be pissed. This isn't a "who's your favorite" competition, answer the actual question!!!

the paradise syndrome is basically a telenovela but highlights to:

bones trying to convince spock to rest from trying to figure out how to save missing amnesiac jim and the ship and spock doing so for literally 3 seconds

this is the first time spock and jim mind meld in the show and spock is very overwhelmed

that's certainly one way to describe him
