Since when do conservative Christians ever read the Bible themselves along with following its teachings at the same time. Religion is a complete mess of contradictions, lies, and many holes in the said holy book. In the end, it's been incomplete as long as it existed. If I wanted to read something from the beginning to end, I would read the whole thing in order to understand the whole story to begin with. Don't get me started with Christian Nationalism. Forcing kids to learn the Bible at school is going to be a disaster in the making.

Broke: Merlin is a royalist because he is a class traitor boot licker
Woke: Merlin is a royalist because he was raised a peasant in the sixth century and he has the perspective and values typical of that time period on top of his personal experiences with Arthur to give him faith in the enlightened despotism favored by Catherine the Great and Frederick of Prussia.
Bespoke: Merlin is a royalist because anyone who had to live through both the English Civil War and Voltaire's exile to Britain would come out the other side thinking democracy is stupid.
Transcendent: Merlin is not a royalist. He is the divine right of kings in human form. The avatar of Albion and its magic. He does not believe in kings because of Arthur. He believes in Arthur so Arthur gets to be king.

THE DEAD MINER /1867/ by CHARLES CHRISTIAN NAHL.
The painting illustrates the danger frequently linked with life and work on the frontier. The miner is depicted lying on the ground in a lifeless state, holding a portrait of his sweetheart with a romanticized touch. His faithful dog grieves next to him.
This is a romanticized view of death in the 19th century, especially during the California Gold Rush. This style of painting focuses on the sacrifice of the miner, depicting him as a martyr for progress. It conforms to contemporary values that glorify noble suffering and the tragic beauty of death. This era frequently portrayed death in a peaceful and dignified manner, often idealizing it.
When Nahl made this piece, he was fully involved in depicting the mining culture of California, which had transitioned from the initial gold rush frenzy to a more contemplative era. At this point, the excitement of the gold rush had diminished, and Nahl started portraying the miners' challenges and sacrifices. His time working as a miner and artist in California shaped his artistic concentration on subjects of loss and loyalty.
The painting's examination of death and suffering indirectly connects to tuberculosis, reflecting the 19th-century epidemic. In this era, tuberculosis, also known as "consumption," was idealized in art as a sickness that impacted the young and creative individuals, frequently portrayed in a manner that highlighted grace and beauty in passing.

Happy Easter! He is risen! Hallelujah!
JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. Mary Magdalene makes early trips to Jesus's tomb, maybe to anoint His Body with funeral oils, or maybe just to cry. In this cartoon, she refers to these trips as her "mourning routine." The word "mourning" (grieving) sounds like "morning" (the early part of the day). This pun implies that Mary's early daily ritual (her "morning routine") is one of sorrow (hence, "mourning routine"). 2. As Mary approaches Jesus's tomb in John's version of the story, she sees that it's open and hurries to the apostles to have them inspect it. In this cartoon, however, she's too exhausted to recognize what the open tomb implies (that the dead Jesus has somehow left His tomb). She continues into the tomb to wait for Him to return, and only after several minutes does the event literally dawn on her. This particular sunrise has seen the Son rise.
