“My GF is the [Literal] Devil” launching soon! A little art today of my girls, as a treat, for me 😌
Set in a small New England town in the late 2000’s, Clara, pictured on the right, tries summoning a demon, which she thinks fails. The next day, however, a beautiful transfer student arrives at her school, and everything about this new girl seems too good and perfect to be true. Clara starts suspecting that something sinister might be lurking behind this New Girl Lucy’s perfect face. She might just be… the very demon that Clara tried summoning!!! Clara now has to contend with her growing feelings for Lucy, as well as being caught up in the battle between heaven vs hell…

But! I'm working super hard on getting this comic out! :D#also in case anyone was wondering this story draws upon religious folklore and mythos but is NOT pro-christian lol#if anything is kinda pro hell lol 😈#aka i'm pouring all my childhood religious trauma into this one folks

Extremely niche comparison but the plot of The Locked Tomb is so similar to what a Mechanisms album about the bible would conceivably look like.
#tlt#gtn#gideon the ninth#the locked tomb#giving christian mythos the same treatment they gave the oddyssy and arthurian legend#ie: dramatic space opera with non traditional castings of the archetipes presented in conventional retellings#the mechanisms

Reminder that the concept of hell is inherently problematic as it was literally invented so ppl (Christian ppl especially!) could abuse and control their congregations/ppl below them to do what they wanted and also so people like Dante could fantasize abt ppl they don’t like suffering for eternity ✌️It’s literally the most unserious piece of fiction ppl accepted as cosmic canon and the idea of being obsessed with hell, thinking it’s real, sounds incredibly miserable to me.
Real Hell enthusiasts create stories about fictional people suffering for eternity to explore hell’s themes and bring light to the human condition, not because they have a hate boner for those specific types of people, but bc concepts like morality, demons and the underworld are a fascinating avenue of storytelling.
People unironically obsessed with hell irl are fanatics and should not be treated seriously bc honestly grow up. It’s a book of parable and prose plus some guys uninspired hate-boner fan fiction where his literal Mary Sue wanders through hell feeling bad abt the eternal suffering of ppl he actually hates irl. It is not real and no matter how much you think someone is going to be tormented forever bc they’re gay or bc they don’t pray hard enough does Not mean it will happen. Loser behavior.
Also any story where you explore damnation is going to be inherently problematic if you’re using the seven deadly sins model so you just need to be aware and maybe even lean into the ridiculous unseriousness of it all. Use your version of hell as a social commentary on how these groups of people are mistreated or marginalized in life, or to highlight the struggles they go through. Or just make it a horrifying nightmare-scape, as a treat. It doesn’t hurt anybody to write fictional stories set in hell, as long as you don’t do so in a way where you’re openly condemning them and write them sympathetically it should be fine. Hazbin Hotel + Helluva Boss is a prime example of what NOT to do bc they do it hella poorly. It’s actually embarrassing.
TLDR: religious fanatics who obsess over people going to hell unironically are losers and if you try to write fiction abt hell without treating the issues in your story with tenacity and care, your writing will be just as bad as Vivziepop’s and honestly thats worse than hell :/
#edited it for clarification bc I felt like my point wasn’t getting across#this is explicitly a post about people who obsess over ppl they don’t like going to hell.#like bitch you think that shit’s real??? grow up.#this post is NOT about people who enjoy the Hell Mythos#anti christian#pro christ#reality check#call out post

I really wish we knew more about Laufey in Norse myth
Because like
HOW DOES SHE FEEL ABOUT WHATS HAPPENING TO HER SON? WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
Like does she mourn him for what has been done? Scorn and pretend he doesnt exist because of what he will do?
WHAT DOES SHE FEEL?
The fact that Loki uses her name instead of Farbauti's interests the fuck out of me
#im gonna write a poem of her mourning him#norse myth#norse mythology#wolffox speaks#loki mythology#Laufey diety#never ever getting over the fact that there has been a fuck ton of shit we dont know about certain pantheons#and im not even a Norse pagan and im sad/angy about it#tho i am a celtic/greek pagan so technically its happened to my dieties too#because old Christians either rewrote it or destroyed it#no offence to the christians here i just have religious trauma#and the destruction of any information about mythos makes my mythology nerd heart die inside

you are pitting Jesus and Santa Claus against each other. I am acknowledging Santa as both a mythic symbol of Christ and a cultural legend based upon a real man whose faithfulness to Christ was used by God to grant common grace not just to the people of Myra but throughout the entire world. we are not the same.
#I know anti-Santa people who are not smug but the anti-Santa influencers are getting smugger and smugger each year#my generation was not raised to cope with loss of childhood#pro-tip: it comes back when you have your own children#I know because I get a taste of it whenever I visit my friends’ kids#mobile#x#Christmas#Christianity#history#mythology#let kids believe in magic again#you know what believing in magic did for me? trained my heart to recognize the wondrous when I see it#trained me to accept that I don’t and can’t know everything#trained me to live by the faith of adherence when i cannot enjoy the faith of assurance (Matthew Henry)#I was the only person in any of my friend groups who ever believed in Santa#and you know why I didn’t feel betrayed to find out I’d misplaced my belief? because Santa is real.#someone moves even terrible parents to give good gifts to their children on the same holy day every year#someone moves the imagination to ensure that the darkest week of the year will produce the most ethereal lights#someone moves the ancient and forgotten back into our conscious present minds#and if you’re wondering whether I’m talking about Jesus or Santa that’s a GOOD thing!#that’s the whole point!#the Santa mythos *impacts* people all over the world. and that is an act of Providence whether you believe in God or not

This'll be an easy one because i got. Nothing. There hasn't been a single thought or piece of art about Revelation that i did not immediately post on this blog
random thought from right now: kinda wish i hadn't used biblical imagery for revelation because i dislike that shit truly* that being said the name is undeniably a slay
#*i looooove writing about religious PEOPLE but i could not give a fuck about monsters/creatures/etc from christian mythos#angels demons gods dislike all of it don't care for it etc

Romance was never my strong suit I fell like a fool down a flight of stairs And honey, my darling, my dear– There are plenty of flights of fancy For me to fall from this Tower of Babel There is no keen way for me to share this That upon the briefest of utterances Shared, again – and again Remarkable – How swiftly feelings of importance arise And how swiftly one falls Like the morning star – reluctant in hope of man I fall Like Icarus, scared of the coldness of the sea Fearful of the heat of the sun Disobedient to my mind, my man-made god To my fancy, I fall Not because I am above you But to humble myself Before you

the other thing about men 2022 dir garland is like the first rule is to never go to a remote village anywhere in England Wales or Scotland. this is lesson number one that any indigenous person of another country knows instantly upon setting food on that accursed isle. like WE KNOWWWW. I dont feel bad for you. you are the one who got a weird vibe on the outskirts of a village and kept pursuing it. YOU are the one who saw the freaky cauldron. like it is not my problem if someone cant feel theres some weird old powers in the forest. if you thought that man was a stalker that is on YOU!!! ma'am. EYE would have known that he is the green man because EYE would have gotten the vibe.

the thing that REALLY has me climbing the walls about ravenous is it’s use of the wendigo myth. like cannibalism is really explicitly about colonialism in this movie and the fact that the cannibal characters became cannibals in the first place because they heard the wendigo story from native characters. like ives and hart and boyd aren’t *literally* wendigos because even that concept is stolen property. they took the story and changed it to justify their own violent desires. you could say they cannibalized it, even.
#CAN ANYBODY HEAR MEEEEEEE#ravenous#.post#don’t even get me STARTED on the bringing in of christian mythos as well.#george shows them the drawing of the wendigo and flips it over to show the crucified body of christ on the other sIDE. WHICH COULD MEAN NOT#hart’s comment of ‘this is all very civilized’ i’m going to be sicj
