not to get all "actually☝️" about it but. the whole point of this is the fact that it isn't at all eddie's fault and buck just doesn't know how to properly process or recognize his feelings and know what he's missing *until* he gets presented with a specific situation. in truth buck has no right to be mad at eddie for building bonds with other ppl and it's why he has to do some introspection. this is not a "oh no poor buck eddie apologize to him!!!" thing, it's about buck getting, for lack of a better term, a good emotional humbling. eddie deserves good friendships and relationships, full stop. and if he likes the way he feels when he hangs out with tommy then great!! he's his own person and not a tool to further buck's character. but you also can't expect buck to immediately recognize that because, again, and for the millionth time, the whole POINT is that he doesn't. so if it has to get ugly and uncomfortable and embarrassing for him to do so then that is what will happen and that doesn't make either of them bad people. this is not a blame to be passing around. it's just them being human beings

This rewatch this morning had me reeling. watching fresh - understanding truly that this episode was about BUCK really let me soak it all in.

This was such an important episode to show his growth, how far he has come, truly starting to value himself and understanding his value to those around him.

- remus is so badly mischaracterized, the shift from him being a soft sensitive kid despite the violent nature of his condition was so so important but now he is turned into this mean angry alpha male. i feel like the point of him being so sensitive was to contrast w him being a werewolf ya know. bring back weird and awkward remus

- gay ships that are just there because they’re gay is pretty strange. i’m speaking of the whole jegulus/pandalily/whatever new thing ppl come up with i don’t really understand the point of just thinking that making a couple gay makes them more interesting. seems a little counterproductive .

-jily loosing its popularity is killing me. bring back my 7 year slow burn prophecy beautiful love story they are the most important ship

-sirius being a feminine dramatic gay twink. this man was a motorcycle owning rebel strong guy. and believe it or not he CAN be gay and still be that. him being gay ( in our head canons) doesn’t mean he’s a woman

- turning gay ships into basically a straight relationship by making them so stereotypical ( wolfstar w feminine af sirius and strong man remus)

- shipping character that died and fought against a certain ideology and people that were actively apart of the problem is kinda crazy. like jegulily? my brother in christ regulus wanted her dead.

-fanon regulus. he was a strong willed DEATH EATER he wasn’t forced into it or abused by his family. it.is.stated.in.the.book.

-deatheaters are interesting characters BUT don’t tell me people are babying and glorifying them in a effort to explore their complexity.

-some of you are blinded by the fancasts and forgot all about what the characters are.

- the new fan casts are meeeh. they’re not all supposed to be supermodels…

-ships have taken way too much importance over the friendships of the group.

-i feel like a people make female characters into lesbians ( like lily ) just because they are strong characters and it’s weird.

- yes once she got married to james she was lily POTTER and she was a mother just like james was FATHER they’re is nothing wrong with that.

- jegulus/ any ship between a member of the order and a deatheater is just plain stupid sorry but if your head canons goes completely against the core of a character it’s just a wrong statement.

Eddie chose their bachelor party outfits

Buck explains that it was an 80’s themed party and that he was dressed as Crocket and Eddie as Tubbs, then Eddie corrects him and says HE is Crockett and Buck is Tubbs.

We all know Buck’s pop culture knowledge is lacking and the fact that he got their character names mixed up and Eddie corrects him tells me that Eddie chose them. Why is this interesting?

Because Crocket and Tubbs are the guys from Miami Vice. If you don’t know it we’ll forgive you since it aired from 1984 – 1989, before a lot of you were probably born or old enough to be watching it. Before either Buck or Eddie were born too, by the way (and Christ don’t I feel old since I was in high school when it ended).

So, Eddie choosing to go as Sonny Crockett is FASCINATING to me. Quoting heavily from this article:

“Sonny struggles with depression, gets attached easily and just as easily hurt and makes dad jokes. Sonny is prickly, vulnerable, and deeply sad. I would also argue that he’s pretty heavily queercoded, and I don’t think it’s entirely unintentional.”

Sound somewhat familiar at all?

Interestingly, the penultimate episode of season 1 is titled Evan. Why is that interesting, you ask? As this article says, “Oh, you know, it’s then the moment Sonny’s possible bisexuality starts to seem like an intentional implication rather than an accident of incautious scripting”…

There’s a lot more to Miami Vice of course, and my memory of it is filtered through 30 years of life so it’s not perfect. You can find out more for yourselves if you want. I just find it very interesting that it’s Eddie who went as Crockett instead of Buck.

Interesting and exciting when we view it through the lens of Buddie possibly going canon in the future.

Thinking of Wolfstar and how I sound like a freak trying to explain how

Like I would love to explain how around 2014, there was a sudden rise and resurrection second coming of christ our lord saviour Wolfstar. And, we fancasted so hard that almost 10 years later, we’re still stuck on this. And how most of the hp queer fandom started to latch onto these characters cause there was no other representation and these two started it all.

In the wake of she-who-shall-not-be-named spitting in our trans brothers and sisters’ faces, more of the hp fandom has retreated to the Marauders Era (a completely fanon lore with POCs and Queer people). That somehow this fanon non-profit lore had a better understanding of the world than canon and redeemed Slytherins by showing how inter-generational trauma affected them. By showing us that Bellatrix Lestrange was only a pawn in the Black family’s game. That Narcissa and Regulus were only doing what they had to do to survive. Sirius’ madness was not just for eccentric reasons.

This fandom highlighted the treatment of house elves. Talked about slavery. Talked about Queen Dame Lily EVANS’ childhood!! She wasn’t just a plot device to redeem Severus Snape. She was the muggle voice in the group. She was the witch that was outcasted by her muggle sister because she believed in magic. She was minority in two worlds. She was the Marauders’ friend. She wasn’t a prude or a damsel to be saved. She wasn’t just Harry’s mother. She was one of the brightest witches of her time. Harry inherited her WIT, her perseverance, her defiance, her pride, unrelenting nature. Harry Potter inherited more than her eyes. He inherited her ability to thrive in the face of trauma.

Joanne could have never given this to us. I don’t think any one person could give us this. This was a collection of rewritten lore from people who loved the universe it created but wished to be seen. And, I love my sometimes problematic and inconsistent little fandom.

Steve’s Endgame Ending fixed

What if at the end of Endgame when Steve is returning the stones, he has to give up something he loves, right? So what if he gives up his super-serum effects (an au tweaked and borrowed from @growingpaynes-art ), and turns back into pre-serum-Steve? A list of reasons why I think this would work:

A) Straight off the bat it’s easy to keep Steve in the MCU with Chris Evans’ contract ending if they replace the actor who plays pre-serum-Steve (obviously with a guy who looks similar to the first movie, but without the CGI). I know people might be confused why he looks different but the MCU’s changed actors before and it’s not the hardest stretch of the imagination. Also thematically it’d be cool to have Steve be literally unrecognisable to the audience.

B) I think a lot of writers for the Avengers are so focused on writing ‘Captain America’; ‘bland, stoic, with no sense of humor’, that they forget about Steve Rogers; the young disabled man who would put his life on the line to fight fascists. This would be a great way to get back to the basics of Steve’s character and show the audience who he truly is.

C) Honestly it would just be nice to show that Steve is just as righteous and brave with his disabilities, something not often shown in media. Even the MCU likes to focus on Steve’s asthma and ignore that he actually was disabled. (which i’ll touch on in a second).

*and now for some more headcannon-y stuff*

A) From screenshots from the movie, and a list at Disneylands Tomorrowland exhibit, the canon list of Steve’s disabilites and health problems are:

Asthma

Anemia

Diabetes

Color-blindness

Arrhythmia

Scoliosis

Chronic colds

High blood pressure

Easy fatigability

Heart trouble

Sinusitis

Fallen arches

Stomach ulcers

B) It’d be cute to see Steve actually be able live with his disabilities, unlike in the 30’s. I cannot stress how much eugenics there was back then (and still is now, but WAY more casually acceptable back then). Even the actual Captain America storyline reeks of it a bit; experiment on a disabled man to ‘fix’ him and turn him into a soldier. However in the 21st century imagine if he could get the help he actually needs! Obviously a lot of his stuff is chronic, but he could actually live with it instead of just surviving like he would have done. And be able to afford them, unlike back in the Great Depression. Back braces, inhaler, mobility aids etc. It’d be nice to see a disabled person living with themselves as the HAPPY ending, instead of as a tragedy as it’s usually played.

C) The story of him actually seeing worth in his old (new?) body and himself instead of just a vessel for Captain America. A self-acceptance arc. Being able to retire in peace without anyone recognising him as Captain America without having to give up his life in the 21st century.

D) The Smithsonian exhibit is so closely tailored to his propaganda persona that it fails to acknowledge him as a person. I wouldn’t be surprised if the general public has never even seen a photo of him pre-serum, or knew how bad his illnesses were besides ‘just asthmatic and skinny’. He could easily walk around and not be noticed by anyone.

Tldr: Steve’s proper ending in Endgame should have had him return to his skinny form in exchange for the stone, and him being able to retire to finish art school in peace.

and so many people just really did assume that he was perfectly fine and that he didn't have it as bad as the others.

WHEN IT COMES TO HABIT?? yes Vinnie did NOT have it as bad. if anything HABIT has treated Vinnie with literal luxury compared to the others but.

with slenderman??? Jesus fucking christ Vinnie never got a moment ALONE. He's probably coughing up blood more then the average person even should.

This is one thing I've noticed people don't understand about the story, Evan is working to defeat HABIT more than he's working to defeat slenderman, and Vinnie is SOLELY working towards defeating slenderman.

I don't know I'm really just rambling over nothing. it just makes me really sad when I see people talking about Vinnie as if he isn't just a guy who was doing all the could. He doesn't feel good about the things he's done and he wishes he never did it, but it's not even his fault. He's destined to fail every single time.

No but I do write AU fusions <3 my favorite stupid insane one was a James Potter/Lily Evans Batman universe fusion fic it lowkey ate but I had to hide it because I was embarrassed at the quality and the very just-took-sociology-101 level of social commentary 😭

all-time...,, whew. rn it's definitely Codywan. Idk if I have an all-time transcendent one that I always come back to tbh. I'm really more into platonic relationship dynamics than ships tbh

15. What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever wilI?

God, I have one re-writing the Zygerria arc where Ahsoka sneaks onto the mission instead of being incorporated into it that i want to finish SO BAD. when the ties that bind is done I'm really going to hammer it out because I do love it but its kind of a monster.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm good with dialogue and characterization and, on occasion, plot twists.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I hate writing filler. I can't do it for the life of me, which means I also tend to have pretty poor pacing. im also bad at ending scenes which is why many times my chapters will end with my characters falling asleep 😭

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

jesus fucking christ it's so hard. doing it for Mando'a is hard and it's not even a real language. Usually I just go for the itallics but sometimes it's nice to have the immersion (which only works if you do it perfectly lol)

I did not stake out the username "timelesslords" back in 2013 for the answer to this question to NOT be Doctor Who

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

cheating and doing my fav from my three main fandoms:

Under Freezing Stars because it was the first long piece of fiction I ever finished, and without it I would not have made three of my best friends in the whole world so its very special and important to me

if you never bleed you're never gonna grow is one where I feel like I did something interesting and innovative with form and perspective and I'm really proud of it. I feel like a lot of times as a fic writer you can feel like what you're doing is repetitive and this one felt really unique to me!

The Ties That Bind is still a WIP but I honestly really love it and have been loving the process of writing it a lot. it's the first WIP I started posting without having at least 75% of the fic completed and it's been really interesting to see what a different process it is pre-writing vs writing as you go! Also, I love the plot contrivance that makes up the premise, I love working out all the little butterfly effects of that decision, I love making it gay and poly and I love writing a million different perspectives!!!

This is my first time ever writing Evan. It was a tough one for me to attempt with Evan because it isn't the prompt I would have picked, but I enjoyed writing a new character and had fun with it. Once again, this is longer than I initially planned and I hope you enjoy it.

“We need to talk.”

You don’t need to look up from undoing your boots to know who has barged into the women’s locker room and spoken. You’d know Evan’s voice anywhere, you’ve worked with him on and off for a few years now.

“I think you said enough on the ride back here,” you say, trying to stay calm.

“Not nearly enough,” he says, “You still don’t think you did anything wrong.”

You stand up, still not looking at him and start undoing your overshirt. “Would you have given the same instruction to Larry?”

“What’s that got to do with it?”

“Would you have given the same instruction to a man?”

“Oh Jesus Christ, here we go,” Evan says, looking to the ceiling and clenching his fist.

“Or did you only try and stop me from doing my job because you used to fuck me and now you feel guilty?”

“It’s got nothing to do with that!” Evan shouts, punching out at the row of lockers across you.

You take a step back from him, your eyes wide. Evan has always had a slight temper, but for him to physically lash out like that isn’t something you would expect. He notices your reaction and his face softens. You consider letting it go, you’ve made your point and don’t need his apology. It isn’t as if it was ever serious between you two, it had only ever been a casual thing. However, this conversation has been a long time coming and you need to have it out.

“It has everything to do with it,” you tell him, “You changed. Since you disappeared for weeks last Halloween, you’ve changed. I know things wouldn’t be the same after we stopped hooking up, but I didn’t expect you to be so fucking cold.”

“How am—”

Evan cuts himself off with a strangled curse as your hand rests against his chest.

“Don’t touch me there,” he says without seeming to breathe and his face twists with fury.

You withdraw your hand and the two of you stare each other down. Evan opens his mouth to say something but then clenches his jaw closed so hard his teeth clash against each other audibly.

“Fuck it,” he mutters and abruptly turns and walks away.

“Come back! This isn’t done,” you call to him.

“Fuck you,” he says and leaves the room, slamming the door behind him.

You stare after him, trying to smother the rage that boils deep in your guts. You don’t know how long you stand there with your eyes closed and fists clenched, breathing deeply through your nose until your fury simmers.

But it doesn’t. 

If anything, the longer you stand there the angrier you feel. Your mind starts to work over every interaction you’ve had with him since he came back. Every rejected advance, every cold comment and every frosty glance plays over and over like a best of compilation in your mind switching from one to another until you can’t take it anymore. Without being aware of what you’re doing until you're pushing the men’s locker room door open, you follow him, and stomp your way to the showers.

The sight that greets you makes you gasp. Evan stands under the shower naked, gloriously so. His chiselled face is so handsome that you sometimes forget he has the body to match; tall, athletically toned with the bare minimum of fat overlaying his sinewy muscles. He’s thinner than the last time you saw him, and that isn’t the only thing that has changed.

Beneath the rivulets of steaming water that run down his chest and amongst the hair that grows across his pecs is a scar. It is new, it hadn’t been there before. You’ve seen enough stabbing and knife attack victims to know the scar isn’t from a fight. It looks purposeful, like it was done by design; the lines too straight and too much like a symbol to have been done by accident.

You raise your eyes to Evan's and the unasked question is written all over your face.

“I can’t tell you,” he says, simply, “don’t ask me to.”

You step over the tile lip and into the shower space. Warm water seeps into your socks, but you barely notice. All you can see is the frigid intensity of his once warm eyes. 

“Just tell me you’re okay,” you say, advancing slowly, drawn so powerfully towards him you can’t stop yourself until you’re under the spray with him, completely indifferent the way your undershirt quickly dampens and sticks to your body.

Evan’s brows draw together and he blinks rapidly but doesn’t answer.

“What can I do?” you ask in a whisper.

He flinches like your words are a slap. Then his face hardens and a grim determination settles in his beautiful but bleak blue eyes.

“You don’t want any part of this,” he says. “Or any part of me.”

“Is that why you’re acting like this?” you ask. Gingerly, you lift your hand to his chest and trace the edge of his scar, careful not to touch it. “You think I wouldn’t want you?”

Without warning his hands are on your cheeks and his mouth is over yours, the edges of your lips are grazed by his short whiskers and you feel a tingle work its way across your skin. You recover quickly from the shock, encircling his neck with your arms and running your fingers over the wet and velvety hair on his head. You move in closer, pressing your sodden clothed body against him.

It isn’t enough. You want to feel him, you want to feel his humid skin all over you. He must have thought the same thing because he breaks the kiss with a groan. His hands work on your belt and you pull your undershirt off over your head, letting it drop to the tiles with a splash you barely register.
