Treasures of Ruin Headcanons

It is not uncommon to find stone figures of Ting-Lu marking settlements in northern Paldea. In ancient times, the custom was to put coins in the domed vessel atop its head, typically whenever one arrived or departed the village. The reasoning is not well understood. Some scholars believe they were merely respectful offerings. Others speculate that the coins were intended to weigh Ting-Lu's head down, to prevent it from escaping its shrine and ravaging the earth.

Paldea is home to a proverb, often translated as 'melt the sand and leave nowhere to stand'. It cautions against the ruinous effects of jealousy or envy, and likely traces back to Chi-Yu's origins. Both in Paldea and its surrounding regions, envy is associated with fire and heat.

It is commonly believed that flowers and fruit trees do not grow in the woods surrounding Grasswither Shrine, but this is not true. As any local will tell you, the fruit grows quickly, but rots quicker still. Wild pokémon do not eat it.

Paldean fables warn children against walking alone in heavy snow. If they see a snowman, they must ignore it - especially if it seems to be waving at them. Chien-Pao is the most playful of the Treasures of Ruin; while your eyes fix on the snow figure, you may miss the sheet of ice descending from above.

The exact nature of the Treasures of Ruin is poorly understood in modern Paldea. While their existence is accepted, there is dispute over the extent of their abilities and the level of destruction attributed to them. Some academics argue that they were only symbols of the bloodshed and environmental discord under the ancient monarch's rule, later elevated to legends via oral storytelling. However, more recent research supports the Treasures' historic reputation. A newly-published geological analysis of Grasswither Shrine detected elevated levels of heavy metals in the soil, with no clear source but the shrine itself.

Ornamental metal vessels, often known as 'worry bowls', are found in many houses across Paldea. They are a common gift for children, who are told to write their fears down on scraps of paper and put them in the vessel to be rid of them. Some believe that these bowls are styled after the vessel on Ting-Lu's head. The protective nature of the bowls is at odds with Ting-Lu's generally negative reputation, which may suggest that the Treasures were not always a symbol of evil in Paldean culture.

In old Paldean writings, frostbite is often referred to as 'sword touch' or the 'bite of the cat', thought to be physical evidence of Chien-Pao's ruin on the body. Even in modern Paldea, children are encouraged to wrap up warmly against the cold, lest 'the cat nip their nose'.

timebomb AND piltover’s finest spinoff where Ekko, Vi, and Caitlyn go track down Jinx and convince her to come back home and that she’s not a jinx. we get to see Caitlyn and Vi’s relationship change with recent development, we get to see Jinx and Ekko grow fonder of each other; but of course this is Arcane so of course they have to get side tracked by something but it only bring them all closer. We get to see more of Vi and Ekko’s sibling dynamics and watch Caitlyn and Jinx grow subtly fonder of each other when they realize they have more in common then they��d like to admit to one another. All while, in a pretty, perfect package Vi gets to rebuild her small but loving family yet again yet this time without danger looming(unless we count jinx)

Kieran has me in a chokehold. His character arc is so GOOD. You can tell that his bitterness and anger doesn’t just come from everything that’s happened to him recently. It’s pretty obvious that he’s been living in Carmine’s shadow for a LONG time and she’s always kinda treated him badly. But it wasn’t until the player character came along that he was finally able to voice that in his own way;; Just when he thinks he’s made a true friend in someone, someone that can and will stand up to his sister and is able to defeat her in battle (which inspires him to start speaking up for himself more), Carmine steals them away. And that’s a big betrayal to him. He clearly has self esteem issues which leads to him thinking that Carmine was talking shit about him behind his back and getting the player to believe that he wasn’t worth being friends with. And that makes him think both of them were laughing at him and making fun of him. And THEN the player goes and takes the last thing that Kieran has, the last thing he truly cares about: Ogerpon. It’s no wonder he got so frustrated and petty and lashed out 😭 Still breaks my heart to see but they did a really good job showing that progression of him losing more and more of his patience with Carmine. And him generally feeling like everything he cares about is being torn away. And losing to the player over and over just makes things WORSE. He’s not strong enough to beat them, he’s not strong enough to stand up to his sister, he’s not strong enough to be worthy of Ogerpon, he’s not strong. He needs to get stronger. Stronger and stronger and stronger.

GODDDD. He’s going to live rent free in my brain forever now. I can’t wait to see the direction they take with him in The Indigo Disk

I know I talk about Viktor all the time but this post is about VIOLET!!!!! Okay???

Specifically in season 1.

We don’t actually get to see her change over the course of the show is the thing. We see her at 14, and then years later. And over the course of the time skip, she changes, a lot. She and Jinx are possibly the most changed over the seven years out of the entire cast of characters. And everyone might be talking about Jinx’s changes bc they are more physical, tangible things. She’s nearly grown now, has a different name, sees things that aren’t there, etc.

But we see two different Violets as well. And when she first gets out of prison, she attempts to be who she was. Finding powder, putting her first. But she realizes soon that that isn’t what needs to be done. She needs to be involved in something bigger than saving her sister. In fact, her sister is one of the obstacles in the way of peace.

Violet in Arc 1 is a character whose purpose is saving someone she loves from the world.

Violet in Arc 3 is a character whose purpose is saving the world from someone she loves.

Oh Arcane season 1 how I love you.

And then in Season 2 she comes to the conclusion that she does not have to choose, and tries her very best to save them both. It is a shame that she thinks she fails.
