Two US residents were arrested by federal agents in connection with a Chinese government secret police station in Lower Manhattan.
The government of China is a totalitarian human rights abuser like Russia. But it has gone one step further than the Putin dictatorship by setting up over a hundred secret police stations in cities outside its borders. A major function of these stations is to keep an eye on oversees Chinese with special attention given to exiled dissidents. Allegedly thousands of Chinese overseas have been intimidated into returning to China by these stations. Though there is some evidence that these stations are involved in other activities such as supervising troll farms.
These secret police stations have been known about for a while. What got the two men in NYC arrested was their attempt to destroy evidence of their operation which was being investigated by the FBI. The US has been investigating the NYC operation for about a year.
14 governments launch investigations into Chinese 110 overseas police service stations
The infamous Chinese balloon shot down just off the coast of the Carolinas should be viewed in the context of China’s overall global intelligence operation which includes the secret police stations in foreign cities.
There is a clumsy arrogance about the Xi Jinping dictatorship spying so blatantly in the open outside the country’s borders. If other countries tried to do in China what China is doing in the rest of the world, the staff at such stations would end up in a gulag in Xinjiang.
Countries are allowed to have embassies and consulates overseas which help out citizens of those countries who are living or traveling abroad. Secret police stations are definitely not part of this system of diplomatic outposts.

A fascist state won't allow criticism or organization. Freedom (the thing right-wingers claim to want) is the exact opposite of what we will get.
We will get self-deputized thugs, in jacked Ford 250s festooned with Trump flags and carrying loaded AR-15s, making citizens take down rainbow flags, black lives matter signs, or any little thing they disagree with under threat of instant execution.
The United States will become just like Afghanistan with citizens at the mercy of Christofascist sociopaths (instead of Muslim sociopaths) who will literally be able to get away with murder.
Remember - nearly all the cops now are already MAGA cultists. They won't stop it. He'll, they will be part of it!
We saw the trucks - these manchildren exist, and they're hungry for power because of their patriarchy based sense of entitlement demands they feel powerful.
They just need democracy dead enough so they can get away with forcing their will onto regular US citizens at gunpoint.
Prevent this dark future by voting blue.
The kind of big brother crap we can expect if Republicans seize power.

China's Car Exports to Russia Falter: "Tofu-Dreg" Vehicles Infuriate Russians
According to a survey by local Russian institutions, 44% of Russian consumers believe that the metal materials used in Chinese cars are too thin or the components are not suitable; 42% pointed out metal corrosion issues, believing that these cars are not adapted to Russia's cold winters; 29% felt that the electronic products and components used in Chinese cars are of lower quality; 28% complained that the suspension is too soft for Russian roads; furthermore, 24% of consumers believe that the paint coating on Chinese cars is not robust.
P.S. Russians received what they wanted: corrupt dictatorship with imperialist ambitions; propaganda liars, bad cars, war, death and mass poverty...!
If you have such "friends" as Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and Venezuela, then you don't need enemies. These alternative "friends" will ruin and litter everything for you. You, Russian friends, will have war, poverty and miserably lives as well...!!! Only greedy politically correct morons do business with these dictatorial regimes...

1957: VI Rightist Critiques of Party Members, Organization, Bureaucracy, Tyranny and Privilege
In this part of the translation from the 1958 Renmin University compendium of ‘rightist’ criticisms from the 1957 Hundred Flowers mandatory criticism of the Party (please criticize us to help us improve!!) the focus is on the role of the Communist Party. Criticisms include the rapid deterioration in the quality of the average Party member after Party’s rapid expansion after taking power in 1949,…

My dad asked me to have a couple of drinks with him last night and the end result was me getting drunk, telling him I’m bi, and giving him a very long speech about how Israel is a glorified US military base
#we also argued about whether or not Chinese imperialism would actually be worse tan USAmerican imperialism#and he said I was being naive and that China is worse because it’s more of a dictatorship#and I pointed out that it doesn’t sound different from how we live now#and he was like oh heah we’re used to it be the westerners won’t be

about taiwan. but im still confused as to why should china care. they havent controlled taiwan for some time and seems to just cause conflict. why not just leave taiwan be and be happy with the mainland. what good does claiming taiwanese island bring? why do they care if an island belongs to them or not?
What good does the ROC claiming the mainland bring? Why does the KMT care about the ROC being the legitimate successor to Sun Yat-sen's Republic? Why is the DPP bribing right-wing US warhawks and inviting US destroyers into the Taiwan Strait?
This is not a situation where a bunch of nasty evil communists are persecuting an innocent island nation. This is a situation where a right-wing counter-revolutionary army, upon losing a civil war, occupied the island and maintained a military dictatorship for 45 years, only eventually opening up to democracy after massive amounts of protests and unrest. The PRC was the only democracy in China for those 45 years. They were fighting to liberate the Taiwanese people, not to oppress them.
After the ROC abolished the military dictatorship and repealed the law declaring the CPC to be rebels and enemies of the nation, the CPC and the KMT began to engage in peaceful dialog, leading to the 1992 Consensus. This consensus formed the basis of informal PRC-ROC relations, under the shared belief that Taiwan is a territory of China.
The election of the pro-independence DPP in 2016 has threatened the prospects of peaceful reunification. Unlike the KMT, the DPP has never had any relations with the CPC and is firmly opposed to reunification. Cross-Strait dialog between the two governments was cut off and the ROC quickly began to take a much more antagonistic role towards the PRC.
The PRC does not want a war. The Taiwanese people do not want a war. The KMT does not want a war. It is only the DPP and a bunch of US imperialists who have been bribed by the DPP who want a war. This is why the PRC has condemned foreign interference in Chinese affairs and condemned the separatist movement in Taiwan.
The PRC does not even want political control over Taiwan. They have proposed a "one China, two systems" approach to reunification that would enable the Taiwanese government to maintain its current legal system and operate with a high degree of autonomy. They know that the Taiwanese people would not soon accept CPC control over the island and they are not proposing that as a solution. But if the separatists get their way and start the Civil War all over again, it's very likely that that is what will happen, with many innocent lives lost to boot.
The DPP could choose at any point to resume the peaceful cross-Strait dialogues that the KMT had been engaging in. But they would rather continue their nonsensical rhetoric and wordplay where they can have their cake and eat it too; where the 1992 Consensus was never a consensus and where Taiwan is already independent despite never having declared independence. More worryingly, they want to continue courting US imperialists and engaging in behavior intended to provoke armed conflict in the region. They would rather start a war than risk having to acknowledge Taiwan's status as a territory of China.
If you want to understand the PRC's position better, this publication by the PRC is a good summary of their current position on the subject.

Thank you so much for the clarification!! I am rusty in English at times so this really helped my understanding<3
Sometimes I think Biden needs to be hit in the face with a shovel...
["]He's a dictator in the sense that he's a guy who runs a country that is a communist country that's based on a form of government totally different than ours," Biden said.
China Different Therefore China Bad [16 Nov 23]
#this makes more sense than op who just tagged me in a note with only one word#thank you#im not well known in how the chinese government work by the way#but when i hear about xi it tends to be a bit weird things but the way biden voices it is just wrong in all ways#you cant call a country who has another government system than yours a dictatorship

Xi sold Putin complete nonsense! Russians are shocked by Chinese cars
EN - Chinese cars in the Russian Federation did not survive local frosts. Russians complain about pedals falling off, brakes failing and wiring catching fire. Hundreds of Chinese foreign cars are sent for repairs, but there is another problem - a shortage of spare parts. For details about new transport in the Russian Federation, see our story.
P.S. Chinese Communists and Business well know that the Russian imperialists have backed themselves into a corner and will buy any worthless piece of junk with wheels...In addition, the Russians have no rights and no one will take their complaints into account...! China will profit very well at the expense of the Russian fools who are building Putin's crippled Russian world...

This mindset's alien to me so maybe I'm wrong about this but I think people who bring up Trump's criminal charges in this way are trying to insinuate that it makes him uniquely dangerous & evil. If we didn't live in a bourgeois dictatorship most American presidents would end up in the Hague for war crimes & all their kids would've had to go through deprogramming & end up as gardeners like the last Chinese Emperor.
Oh no! Trump's a corrupt personally violent & selfish slimeball. That's the worst thing any American predident has ever done thank God they're holding him accountable the system really works.

its kind of insane seeing libs respond to the stance "america's current political framework is diabolocal and should not exist" with 🤓 ummmm. it does exist though. what now? 🧐 then get mad at you when your answer is "well you have to actually get rid of it first" and not "keep using the framework but pretend it's good this time"
We've had since the Truman years time for people to organize, but Americans are so bound by their exceptionalist mentality that whenever they're challenged to make any significant changes in the status quo, they feel threatened. When MLK started talking about White moderates, they all turned against him. The same thing happened with BLM, when they knew that protesting and rioting was meant to be disruptive, they took distance, just like MLK in his years. White Liberals love to act progressive, but feel threatened whenever they are challenged, they'll start consent manufacturing, often calling every leftist a Russian/Chinese psyop when they're told to stand up, ultimately ignoring every call for a change through class solidarity. And even if there's change, they'll call quits once the bare minimum has been fulfilled and never bother with anything else until a republican is there to threaten their way of life.
Look at the Palestinian genocide, every Liberal was convinced that Hamas was at fault and refused to acknowledge prior events, eating every shit the Zionists threw at them. They, the whites, thought that they knew the best outcome for the Palestinians. Months later, they acknowledge the genocide, but instead of actually trying to stop that old man from supporting and abetting genocide, they'll throw the Palestinians under the bus and talk about domestic issues and how to prevent Trump from making everything even worse. The only solution they believe is to uphold the Bourgeoise dictatorship and once Biden's position has been secured, they can go back to their way of life only for the next country to be targeted by the US War machine in their never ending thirst for imperial gains. Keep the GOP out is their only mantra.
White liberals are the biggest threat to the western hemisphere, to the global south, to the entire world even, and they continue to perpetuate the cycle of violence.

“Ukrainians are also fighting for our safety and for everyone’s freedom. By resisting Russian dictatorship, they show that democracy can defend itself. By defending their borders, they are protecting the international order and holding off chaos. By fighting Russia alone, they protect Europe. By showing how hard offensive operations are, Ukrainians make a Chinese war in the Pacific less likely. By fighting a conventional war against a nuclear power, they are making nuclear proliferation and nuclear war less likely.”
Tell Speaker Johnson to support Ukraine now:

This is kind of late re: the culture conversation but I feel like I have a kind of weird perspective on this general idea of cultural appropriation re:embodiment. I’m Italian American, and indigenous South American but I was born in the US and when we immigrated to the US my South American ethnic group is so small and my parents were in Japan so long they culturally assimilated and I was raised in the Japanese immigrant community and literally went to Japanese day school.
This tension between who is “allowed” to participate in a culture or identity has always been deeply fraught for me in a way that has kind of bulldozed my understanding of cultural ownership. Not being “ethnically” Japanese has led to many people deciding for me what the appropriateness of my cultural participation is. And being indigenous South American complicates my relationship to standard cultural alignment with latinidad more broadly.
I have a lot of friends who are white USAmericans who are progressive but also deeply concerned about the boundaries between themselves and the cultures they studied in college and the countries they taught English in as migrant workers. I had a conversation with one of my friends who worked in China and he was talking about how he didn’t mind being legally disenfranchised because he was a white American migrant and didn’t feel it was necessary for him to have the same legal rights as Chinese citizens. And I had to point out that he was living in the same disenfranchised conditions as any other immigrant and there was no reason for him to downplay it. I don’t think it’s disingenuous or appropriative for him to have Chinese art in his house or cook Chinese food or participate in Chinese culture. Not because he lived there or had a complicated legal status in the country or somehow crossed some imaginary threshold of true and genuine cultural appreciation but just because culture is what you do its not a given fact of who you are. It’s a seamless part of his life and just because he sought it out doesn’t make it less genuine to me.
I think because of my complicated upbringing I have spent a lot of time with people between cultures, reconnecting, adopting new ones and feel very strongly that if there is no biological tie to culture people can incorporate whatever they want into their lives and it’s a VERY US American perspective to be so self critical and political about it.
And this isn’t to say cultural exploitation doesn’t exist but when it does happen it’s usually underpinned by a capital motivation to sell an idea of a culture and not a weird white guy who got really into Buddhism or a several generations totally removed Italian American incorporating Panettone into their Christmas celebrations. When people cross the line it’s cringe and inauthentic but it rarely goes beyond that.
When I was in college I had a professor who studied my indigenous ethnic group and I took a couple of his classes. Once I brought my grandmother and mom to campus to speak with him in our indigenous language, and my grandmother spoke to him for three hours straight. He was a white man from Michigan but also one of my only connections to my culture, a person to practice and share my language with, to connect with my family. And all because he thought South American indigenous groups were interesting and got a job with Amnesty International to investigate the dictatorship to get down there. He is the kind of man people wag their finger at and he was one of the most important cultural elders I had.
This is a long way to say basically I just really believe we are allowed to make our lives whatever we want and make ourselves whatever we want. The phenomenon of white Americans in search of culture exists for the reasons you listed below and outside of these political discussions about its appropriateness and its moral boundaries there are just people doing and embodying that cultural fluidity and exchange for a million different reasons that aren’t worth litigating. The small town gay kids who move to big cities and hang out in the leather scene, getting into punk or hardcore or goth scenes, even converting to a new religion function under the same mechanism of the kind of cultural immersion that gives you access to the community and membership in the culture that weebs who immigrate to Japan to teach English, or international students coming to America, or inter cultural or inter faith partnerships undergo.
Anyways thanks for listening to my treatise. So to whoever’s reading this take the dance class or the traditional craft class or learn a new language or learn to cook new kinds of food make all different types of friends and make new traditions out of old ones or old traditions out of new perspectives. Culture isn’t a sacred part of who we are it’s a sacred form of the things we do and embody and connect with others through :-) <3
this is an incredible, wise, compassionate message. Thank you so much for sending it. You've said so much here about the problems of tying cultural identity to a race, ethnicity, or blood, or to regard it as static or isolated. And how much the standard racist American conceptions of racial and ethnic identity make structural discussions about disenfranchisement worldwide hard to have. Said so so much far better than I could, thank you!!
