18 November 2024.
Rajaa Awaida, a Palestinian man from Khan Younis, shares his story of immense suffering as he sits in a wheelchair with both legs amputated.
He recounts the tragic day of August 14, when a massive bomb dropped by the US-backed Israeli terrorists destroyed his family’s home, killing two-thirds of his family.
Now displaced and in urgent need of medical evacuation for treatment and prosthetics, he calls upon the world for help to restore some dignity to his life.

The never-ending ache of love and sorrow. Perhaps in some other life I could have refused, could have torn my hair and screamed, and made him face his choice alone. But not in this one. He would sail to Troy and I would follow, even into death.

plastic surgery makes me SO sad. this is not in a hating fellow women way i love women and think we all deserve to make our own choices about our bodies. however…you have to wonder at what point this is something people actually want or if it’s just to fit into the impossible rules of society. it’s proven addictive too…i think there is much less issue with getting one thing done, except once you get one thing done it makes everything else look worse and then you keep going to try and fix it but you can’t fix it because you were already perfect you just didn’t know it.
i know courtney cox is famous for doing too much surgery and procedures, she’s spoken up about regretting it and has had things undone but it’s too late, she’ll never be the same. and it makes me sad for her.
i think a lot of celebrities who have filler are going to regret it in ten or twenty years when it starts moving around to weird places.
again this isn’t about trying to tell people what to do! it’s such a sensitive topic because of course everyone should make their own choices about their body. but the reasons and pressure is so complex.
No because plastic surgery being twisted into somehow being empowering for women is so fucked to me. changing your face or body to fit a societal beauty standard isn’t empowering at all… it’s the exact opposite… you’re not empowering yourself your empowering beauty standards set by society (aka men saying what’s attractive and what’s not). why do you wanna get rid of wrinkles? because women aren’t allowed to get old because they need to be seen as attractive as possible for as long as possible in the eyes of men. why are you wanting your lips bigger? because men have told you that’s what’s attractive? why do you wanna be smaller? why do you wanna be bigger? it’s so important to look into why you wanna change this thing about yourself and what the source of these insecurities are because 99% of the time it’s messages being sent to you by society to make you feel less than and profit off of the insecurities for money. and sadly it’s working really well, making women so insecure about themselves that they’ll pay thousands and thousands of dollars to feel good about themselves and cater to society/men…. and that’s not what empowerment means at all.

Israel destroyed all the infrastructure and importantly the vegetation in Gaza. Without vegetation to soak up the rain, and with plenty of uplifted ground, people in Gaza are dealing with flooding and mudslides. Trash has piled up and with no toilet facilities disease has affected every person. Now entering into the raining season people have to worry about perpetually wet feet, and cold wet nights, making illness and sleep deprivation even worse if that’s even possible.
