You see stuff like this and wonder if Jay Exci actually wants debate or if they are just doing the same pandering? The fact they go for such reactionary titles shows that they are very aware that stirring up Chibnall hate is a great way to gain attention. There isn't really proper evidence but they want to stir up the haters.

the thirteenth doctor’s regeneration does not get the credit it deserves. despite knowing that she’s losing herself, she doesn’t run from it like ten or twelve. she doesn’t hide the terrifying truth of what will happen and how exactly she might change from the companion she loves like nine or eleven. she doesn’t remain in the TARDIS, her true home and safe haven, where everything is familiar, like all the rest choose to do, despite knowing their regeneration energy will likely damage their beloved ship.

instead, she holds off just long enough to have ice cream with the woman she loves. to give her companion a goodbye, a real goodbye, something none of the doctors before her had managed to do for any of the others that came before. she finds a cliff with a stunning yet unfamiliar sunset, and faces the end of her story — her new beginning, the unknown — with a quip and smile.

in the end, I think she was truly the bravest of them all.

Watching Classic Who is great cause it makes me way more forgiving towards Modern Who. I just watched an episode about a James Bond rip off who has nothing to do with The Doctor trying to warn Earth about a Dalek invasion, and in the end he dies before he gets a chance and it’s all pointless. The Doctor doesn’t even show up. The next episode is about The Trojan Horse. It was amazing.

Say what you want about the newest season of Doctor Who but you have to admit that changing the whole Timeless Child™ plot point from "The Doctor is actually the bestest guy/girl in the entire universe AND the smartest AND the most important AND my mermaid has infinite power +1" to "The Doctor can empathise with troubles of abandoned children because they too were adopted" was the best decision RTD could've made and I honestly feel sorry he had to dig himself out of that hole to begin with

As much as I ADORE the themes of the current Doctor Who, I really don't get the people who are affectionately calling the message "subtle as a brick to the face" but hated on Orphan 55 and the like during Chibnall bc of how "preachy" it was. Like, babes...do we need to have a conversation about how "Space Babies," "Oxygen," and "Orphan 55" are all just as preachy as each other? That's kinda what Doctor Who has always been about??? Absolute camp of the Adipose, Slitheen, Pting, Smiley Robot, and Menacing Cube varieties interspersed with some of the must unsubtle, earnest monologues in the world delivered by some of the best actors (gn) in Britain? Thank you very much give me several more of these stupid lonely aliens on a platter???

my toxic trait is that my favorite doctor changes by the day depending on my mood, the position of the stars, how hot my tea was this morning, and whether or not mercury is in retrograde

a criticism that i absolutely despise about thirteen is the "she's socially awkward, less confident, and more nervous about coming off as weird and this is out of character" take. because this ties into one of her defining character traits as an incarnation. yes all the doctors previous have been strange and offputting to some degree and have mainly not cared about coming off that way (save for ten, who mostly does want to come off as a friendly affable dude and asks if he's being rude sometimes but doesn't have moments where he's apologetic about his oddness in itself). but for thirteen her whole deal is that after twelve's dying wish was basically "ALWAYS BE NICE TO PEOPLE NO MATTER HOW MUCH ETERNAL RAGE AND SADNESS YOU KEEP IN YOUR SOUL" she tries to hide/repress any negative, less "presentable" sides of her from her close friends even when they can tell she's trying to hide it and are attempting to offer emotional support. she tries to be conscious of how she comes off after like, centuries of not really giving a fuck about this. and she clearly struggles with it and this is why she feels so fish-out-of-water in multiple different ways. it's not out of nowhere nor is it ooc (especially bc it was something you saw a little bit of with ten)

As I dive deeper into the Chibnall era while I wouldn't say I love it I'm slowly getting more and more bothered about how the 60th anniversary specials dealt with it, particularly 'The Giggle'. Like, the fact The Doctor name dropped a random one off villain from a mostly lost 60s serial while Yaz doesn't get a single mention is actual insanity.

Despite being a huge Doctor Who fan since middle school (I'll let you all guess when that was), I'm experiencing this season in a very different way. I'm American, never had access to BBC America, and didn't have a tumblr until fairly recently. Meaning until now I was never able to watch episodes as they aired or see tumblr's commentary and thoughts on them. I've always been playing catch-up, dodging spoilers, and seeing everyone's reviews long before I was able to binge the seasons. And yk what? This shit's fucking great. Everyone went from 'oh this is fucking brilliant' at the specials to 'wtf' with Space Babies to 'JESUS CHRIST THIS IS PEAK CINEMA' at 73 yards and boom. And i totally agree. 9's always been my favorite doctor, having RTD back in the showrunner's seat is amazing. And while Space Babies and the one with the Beatles were amazingly wonky and the perfect amount of Doctor Who-y batshit crazy, and I did enjoy them, the past couple episodes have just been spectacular. Haven't felt this moved by Doctor Who since Clara was the companion, and it feels so good to be back. I forgot how much I love this show.
