thinking about how the best case scenario that elphaba can imagine in the wizard and i is that finally someone will come along who will be able to change everything about her. even in her wildest dreams, she views that as her best option.

along comes galinda. who - after spending an entire night attempting to give her a makeover - settles on: ‘actually, you’re perfect just the way you are. i wouldn’t change a thing. except maybe to tuck a little piece of myself in with you, just there.’

I've seen like a billion thinkpieces as to why the new era of Dr who isn't working too well or feels weird so if I had to my own I think the main problem is that rtd is just trying to do too many different things at once, many of these contradicting each other, and he isn't able to juggle all of these together.

He wants Doctor Who to be grand in scale while still being mostly fun little adventures, he wants a big mcu type overarching narrative for both old fans and new viewers, he wants it to be character focused but he also wants to spend a lot of time exploring sci-fi/fantasy concepts, he wants to play it safe to guaranteed the show's success but he also wants to take risks and do choices he knows will anger many people.

I don't think he necessarily needs to be fired (even if I wouldn't mind a new showrunner), I just think he needs to take a chill pill, listen to some criticism, and rethink what he wants to do with the show.

The ideal thing would be to bring up Yaz (either implied or explicitly) but I don't think rtd would do it because he kinda wants to pretend the Chibnall era didn't happen outside from the timeless child + flux.

Depending on how it's handled, the whole "everyone leaves you because of being mysterious" could elevate 'Joy To The World' into a really really good episode or just mess it entirely.

Saw the game awards yesterday because I didn't feel like doing anything else and it was a nice reminder as to why I don't consider myself a videogame fan even if I do like some videogames.

Every time I go into one of these game announcement streams it just feels like only 6 games exists which get repeated to infinity, and each one of them looks like the most uninteresting thing ever to me.

From my understanding a lot of people feel somewhat similarly (saw a lot of "all these cozy games are the same, ugh" tweets last night), but I can't imagine seeing an avalanche of announcements of future projects from a medium you're a fan of with a wide variety of genres and artists and not being interested in a single one of them. Either the industry is in hell, or most of the medium just isn't my thing.

I assumed Mia Goth apparently co-writing Pearl was some type of marketing stunt but going by how incomprehensibly better the film is than the other two entries in the X trilogy I'm kinda left to believe she actually helped to write the script or it was some ghost writer. Either of which seem to be way more talented than Ti West himself. That, or Ti West just inexplicably locked the fuck in for this one in particular.
