Gabi's eyebrows climb higher. She can't deny there's a part of her that glows pleased and warm inside her chest like a coal — there's another part of her that prickles with guilt. Selene didn't leave you here to make eyes at her cousin! Not without some sort of mention that hey, sorry, I think that Matty's sort of super beautiful and I think he might be feeling me, is that alright? Is that cool? If we end up flirting by his pool? A lot?

How exactly is she supposed to react here?

Matty is now lounging across the deck chair. There's something ... decidedly casual, about how his head lazes to the side, and definitely attractive, about how he looks at Gabi from his position.

Dare she say it's even hotter when he declares her exempt from the rules, offers to toss out every other party goer here.

Though there's no sun, she shades her eyes with her hand as if to improve her vision.

She was only his guest. Only the girl he'd met thirty minutes ago, the best friend of his cousin, sure, but still, this was an awful lot of attention Matty was giving to her. Unique consideration, almost? She isn't sure she particularly deserves it.
