The dim lights of the upscale sushi restaurant in Bahrain cast a warm glow across the table, but Lando felt anything but cozy. Sitting across from Checo Pérez, who had a calm yet unreadable expression on his face, he was suddenly acutely aware of just how much trouble he could be in.

They had been in Bahrain for the season opener, and the weekend had gone well for both of them—Checo had finished P2, and Lando had secured a respectable P5 for McLaren. Checo had casually invited him to dinner afterward, a rare off-night between races, and Lando had thought nothing of it.

Until now.

He glanced at the menu, his stomach sinking. Sushi. Lando hated fish, and Checo had to know that.

—You like sushi, right?— Checo asked with a knowing smile, his tone light but with an edge that made Lando sweat.

—Uh, yeah. Love it,— Lando lied, forcing a grin. He fiddled with the edge of the menu, avoiding Checo's gaze.

—Good. This place is excellent. Stella and I come here whenever we’re in Bahrain.—

Lando nodded, trying to seem unfazed, but his mind was racing. This wasn’t just a casual dinner, and he knew it. Ever since he and Amelie had told their families about their relationship last week, Checo had been... watchful. Protective. And Lando couldn’t blame him.

Checo had known Amelie since she was a kid. She was his sister-in-law, yes, but it was more than that—Checo had seen her grow up, through all her ups and downs, and he had every reason to be cautious about the guy dating her. Especially when that guy had a messy history with her.

Lando took a sip of water, trying to calm his nerves as the waiter returned with their order.

—We’ll do the chef’s omakase selection,— Checo said confidently, handing the menus back.

Lando’s stomach dropped further. He didn’t even know what omakase meant, but he was sure it was going to involve a lot of fish.

—So,— Checo began, leaning back in his chair. —How’s Amelie doing in Singapore? Must be tough, being so far apart so often.—

Lando nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat. —She’s doing great. Tonight’s show was a big one, and she said the crowd was amazing. She’s... really happy.— His face softened at the thought of her, and for a moment, his nerves eased.

Checo studied him, his sharp gaze not missing a thing. —You two seem serious.—

—We are,— Lando replied, his voice steady despite the weight of Checo’s scrutiny.

—Good. Because she deserves serious,— Checo said, his tone firm.

The first course arrived, a beautifully plated selection of sashimi. Lando stared at the raw fish, his stomach flipping for an entirely different reason now.

—Go ahead,— Checo said, gesturing to the plate.

Lando picked up his chopsticks, determined not to flinch. He carefully picked up a piece of tuna, silently praying it wouldn’t make him gag, and popped it into his mouth.

—Mmm,— he managed, chewing as quickly as possible and forcing a smile.

Checo raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. —You like it?—

—Yeah. It’s... great.—

Checo smirked, taking a bite of his own food. —You know, I wasn’t thrilled when Stella told me about you two. After what happened in 2021... I wasn’t sure you were the right guy for her.—

Lando’s shoulders tensed, but he nodded, swallowing hard. —I get that. I screwed up back then. And I’ve regretted it every day since.—

Checo didn’t respond immediately, his dark eyes weighing Lando’s words. —She’s been through a lot, Lando. More than most people know. And she’s worked hard to get where she is. If you’re not all in, you should walk away now.—

—I am all in,— Lando said firmly, his eyes meeting Checo’s. —Look, I know I’ve made mistakes, but I’ve learned from them. And I’ll do whatever it takes to make her happy.—

For a moment, there was silence between them, broken only by the quiet murmur of the restaurant. Then, to Lando’s surprise, Checo’s expression softened slightly.

—Alright,— he said, his tone lighter. —But if you hurt her again, you’ll be dealing with me.—

Lando nodded quickly. —Understood.—

The rest of the dinner passed with less tension, though Lando continued to choke down sushi with a straight face. By the time they left the restaurant, he felt like he’d survived a race all over again.

Back in his hotel room, he immediately FaceTimed Amelie. She answered after a few rings, her face lighting up when she saw him.

—Hey, how was dinner?— she asked, pulling her hair into a messy bun as she settled on her couch.

—Your brother-in-law is terrifying,— Lando said, flopping onto the bed dramatically.

Amelie laughed, her eyes sparkling. —What did he do?—

—He took me to a sushi place. Made me eat all this raw fish, knowing I hate it.—

She burst into laughter, clutching her stomach. —Oh my God, he’s such an ass. He knows you hate fish! He was just messing with you!—

—Of course he was,— Lando groaned, running a hand through his hair.

Amelie’s laughter softened, and she looked at him with a mix of amusement and affection. —Don’t take it personally. He’s just protective. But if he didn’t like you, he wouldn’t have invited you to dinner in the first place.—

—So that was... approval?— Lando asked, raising an eyebrow.

—In Checo’s way, yeah. He wouldn’t have wasted his time otherwise.—

Lando let out a dramatic sigh, draping an arm over his eyes. —Great. Glad to know I earned his seal of approval by enduring a sushi hazing ritual.—

Amelie giggled, her voice warm and teasing. —You’re so dramatic. He’s not that bad. But hey, at least you got through it without gagging.—

—Barely. I think he enjoyed watching me squirm, though. He kept giving me this smug look every time I took a bite.— Lando peeked at her through his arm, his lips twitching into a smirk. —You know, you could’ve warned me. A little heads-up would’ve been nice.—

—Where’s the fun in that?— she teased, her grin mischievous. —Besides, you handled it like a champ. I’m proud of you, sushi boy.—

—Don’t call me that. Never again,— he groaned, but his laughter gave him away.

Amelie propped her chin on her hand, her expression softening. —Seriously, though. Thank you for putting up with him. I know how intimidating he can be, but it means a lot to me that you’re willing to go through all of that for... us.—

Lando’s teasing demeanor faded, replaced by a tender smile. —Of course I am. You’re worth it, Ames. Every awkward dinner, every overprotective brother-in-law... I’d do it all a hundred times over.—

Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she bit her bottom lip, trying to hide her smile. —You’re gonna make me cry, and I have another show tomorrow. Can’t be puffy on stage, Norris.—

—Can’t have that, can we?— he teased gently. —Wouldn’t want Taylor Swift to revoke your opener privileges.—

She rolled her eyes playfully, but the love in her gaze was unmistakable.

There was a beat of comfortable silence before Lando spoke again, his voice softer this time. —I meant what I said to Checo, you know. I’m all in with you, Amelie. I don’t want to mess this up.—

Her expression turned serious, her eyes glistening slightly. —I know you are. And I’m all in, too. We’ve been through a lot to get here, Lando, but I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else.—

They held each other’s gaze through the screen, the distance between them momentarily forgotten.

After a moment, Amelie broke the silence with a teasing grin. —But seriously, next time he invites you to dinner, insist on tacos. You’ll win him over even faster.—

Lando chuckled, shaking his head. —Noted. Tacos over sushi, got it. But if I end up eating crickets or something, I’m blaming you.—

—Deal.—

They talked for a little while longer, their conversation filled with laughter and the kind of warmth that came from years of knowing each other. When they finally said goodnight, Lando felt lighter, the lingering tension from dinner replaced with a deep sense of contentment.

As he lay back in bed, staring at the ceiling, he couldn’t help but smile. He might have endured a sushi gauntlet and a grilling from Checo, but in the end, it was worth it. For Amelie, he’d do it all—and more.

summary: Checo finally gets to talk to the girl he's been smiling at every day.

The sun hit her face so beautifully, like an ancient greek goddess. There are so many words Checo could use to explain her beauty, yet none ever captured the breaths she takes away. Every drill, every motor sound blurs and the world slows when she smiles right back at him.

It's been a race season filled with smiles from her. Teeth showing, or even just a grin that he couldn't get enough of. The amount of times he has caught her staring can't be counted, but it also works vice-versa.

Y/n is her name, she's Adrian's new protégé. They never crossed paths enough to talk, maybe the fact they were both blushing even at the sound of each other's name helped with the avoiding too.

The moment Sergio saw her relaxing outside the garage on her phone, he just knew it was time to finally talk to her. Those bambi eyes she always had moved up to look at him. And that damn smile came out again. Y/n's pink lips pulling and her perfectly asymmetrical teeth showing.

" Hi! " She started the conversation with a light giggle at his presence. Locking and setting her phone down, leaning forward to show him how much she was interested in talking to him.

His legs shook, being at her full mercy. She could simply walk away from him and he'd still watch her walk away with a love-sick look. A permanent blush stuck on Sergio's face at her attention to details.

" Hey. " Showing a tight lipped smile to her.

" I'm Y/n! How are you Checo? " The way she talked so gently yet so confident in her own knowledge made him want to listen to her for eternity. Her accent is heavy on the way she says his nickname. Heavenly and simply beautiful.

" I'm good. It's finally the moment for us to talk. " Light pours over his back, highlighting the way his eyebrows move closer while pronouncing words, as if to not trip over himself. Y/n never saw Sergio do that with anyone else. It made her chuckle.

Her hand finds her drink, taking a quick sip only to resume her talking.

" Been looking for you every day and night I'm here. " Laughing at her own middle school crush.

" I've been wanting to hear your accent slip through when you're talking to me, not to those interviewers. " He stated, remembering the times he saw her embarrassed over not knowing the english words for something.

" If you want it, i will grant it to you, Sergio. "

Smau series, so basically it's Charles leclerc × verstappen!reader, she is a reserve driver for redbull but is also maxs race engineer (idk if you call it that? The person that talks to them that one) so she's very involved with the team and f1 in general. The public doesn't know that her and Charles are dating, and they don't even think it as Charles and max "hate" eachother (they are both doing this to protect readers and Charles relationship, they are actually besties) and basically, reader has enough if ferraris tractor, so she's like 'I will get you too redbull' and then checo retires at the end of the 2023 season, and instead of taking the job when she was offered it, she asks if Charles could have it (obviously not publicised) and Christian is like "Yes very good idea" so he asks Charles who is uncertain at first but is then OK with the idea (he is worried about becoming a second driver to max but there is lots of reassuring that he won't be nd so he accepts) and then he goes on to win 2024 wdc (and wcc but irrelevant) and he's sad that he couldn't do it with ferrari omg that's long sorry babes - @lillians-world-is-f1

Amelie stumbled slightly as she turned the key in the front door, her cheeks flushed from the champagne and the thrill of the After Party. She couldn’t help the soft giggle that escaped her lips as she quietly stepped inside her family’s house in Los Angeles. The house was dark, save for the faint glow of a hallway light. Everyone was asleep—or at least, that’s what she assumed.

Her heels clicked softly on the wooden floor as she tiptoed through the hallway, clutching her small bag in one hand and her flowing gown in the other. She’d ditched the towering stilettos halfway to the door, the glamorous confidence they gave her long gone after hours of dancing and laughter.

The Oscars had been a whirlwind—a night of celebration and recognition that still felt surreal. But as amazing as it had been, there was only one thing on her mind now: Lando.

When she reached her room, she pushed the door open quietly, her brows raising in surprise when she saw the dim glow of the TV illuminating the space. Lando was sitting on her bed, his back against the headboard, eyes focused on whatever show he was watching. He had traded his usual stylish clothes for a pair of sweatpants and a loose hoodie, his hair slightly messy from running his hands through it.

He looked up when he heard the door, his face softening immediately at the sight of her. —There she is,— he murmured, his voice low but warm. —Have fun?—

Amelie grinned, closing the door behind her and leaning against it. —You could say that,— she teased, kicking her shoes to the side. She tilted her head, her eyes gleaming with mischief as she took a slow step toward him. —What are you still doing up, though? Shouldn’t you be asleep?—

Lando shrugged, his lips twitching into a small smile. —Couldn’t. Was waiting for you.—

His words sent a warm flutter through her chest, though she tried to keep her expression neutral. —Well, here I am,— she said, her tone playful as she dropped her bag onto a nearby chair. —And guess what? I’m still in my dress.—

Lando’s eyes swept over her, taking in the shimmering fabric that hugged her figure perfectly. —I noticed,— he said, his voice quieter now, his gaze lingering just a second too long.

Amelie stepped closer, her movements slow and deliberate. —What are you watching?— she asked, though she didn’t bother to look at the screen.

—Some... show,— Lando replied, clearly distracted as his eyes followed her every move.

She leaned down slightly, her hands resting on the edge of the bed as she met his gaze. —You don’t seem very interested in it,— she whispered, her tone teasing.

Lando chuckled softly, shaking his head. —Hard to focus when you look like that.—

Her grin widened at his words. —You’re too sweet, you know that?—

Before he could reply, she leaned in, brushing her lips against his cheek, her movements slow and deliberate. —Missed me?— she murmured, her voice a soft hum.

Lando exhaled sharply, his hands instinctively finding her waist as she perched on the edge of the bed. —You have no idea,— he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.

Amelie tilted her head, her lips dangerously close to his. —Show me, then,— she challenged, her smile playful but her eyes dark with intent.

Lando’s resolve crumbled in an instant. He closed the gap between them, his lips capturing hers in a kiss that was both tender and desperate. Amelie responded immediately, her hands sliding up to tangle in his hair as she deepened the kiss.

She shifted, straddling his lap with ease, her dress pooling around them as his hands roamed her back, pulling her closer. The kiss grew hungrier, their breathing uneven as she pressed against him, the thin fabric of her gown doing little to separate them.

—Amelie,— Lando murmured against her lips, his voice thick with both desire and hesitation. —We should...—

—Shh,— she whispered, cutting him off with another kiss. —Just shut up and kiss me, Norris.—

And he did. His hands gripped her waist as she moved against him, her lips trailing down his jawline, leaving soft kisses along the way. The room felt like it was spinning, the world outside forgotten as they lost themselves in each other.

Amelie’s laughter bubbled softly against Lando’s skin as she pressed a teasing kiss to the corner of his mouth. His hands slid from her waist to her thighs, gripping her lightly as if he wasn’t sure whether to stop her or pull her closer. She shifted again, the movement sending a jolt of heat through him that made him exhale sharply.

—You’re impossible,— Lando muttered, his voice strained but tinged with amusement.

She leaned back just enough to look at him, her eyes glinting with mischief. —You like it.—

He didn’t bother denying it. Instead, he reached up, brushing a strand of hair from her face as his thumb lingered on her cheek. —You’re lucky you’re cute when you’re drunk,— he teased.

Amelie smirked, trailing her fingers down his chest, letting them linger just enough to make him squirm. —Oh, so you’re blaming this on the champagne?—

—Maybe a little,— he admitted with a chuckle, his hands sliding back to her hips. —But mostly on you being... well, you.—

She rolled her eyes playfully but leaned in again, her lips brushing his in a kiss that was slower this time, less teasing and more intent. He responded immediately, one hand moving to the small of her back to hold her steady as she pressed closer.

Lando thought he’d have a moment to breathe, to savor the way she felt in his arms, but Amelie had other plans. Her lips traveled to his neck, planting a series of kisses that made his heart race and his grip on her tighten.

—Ames,— he warned, his voice huskier now. —You’re making this very hard to...—

The sound of the door creaking open cut him off mid-sentence. His head snapped toward it, and his stomach dropped when he saw who was standing there.

Checo.

Sergio Pérez stood in the doorway, his expression a mixture of shock and instant disapproval. His dark brows furrowed, and his mouth opened slightly as if he were about to say something but couldn’t quite form the words. He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning against the doorframe with an air of authority that sent a chill through Lando’s already tense body.

Lando froze, his hands still resting on Amelie’s hips, his brain scrambling for something—anything—to say. Amelie, on the other hand, had a very different reaction. She looked at Checo, her eyes wide for a moment before she bit her lip, trying—and failing—not to laugh.

—Oh my God,— she whispered through a fit of giggles, leaning her forehead against Lando’s shoulder. —This is... this is priceless.—

—Amelie,— Lando hissed under his breath, mortified beyond belief. He felt like his soul had left his body as he stared at Checo, whose unimpressed glare hadn’t wavered. —Checo, I can explain...—

—Save it,— Checo interrupted, his voice firm but low enough not to wake the rest of the house. He ran a hand down his face, clearly debating whether to lecture them or just walk away and pretend he hadn’t seen anything. —Amelie, estás peda, ¿no? And Lando... really? In her parents’ house?—

Amelie lifted her head, still smiling but with a cheeky innocence that only infuriated Checo more. —I’m fine, Checo. And technically, this is my room.— She gestured vaguely around as if that somehow justified the situation.

—That’s not the point,— Checo snapped, his glare shifting to Lando, who looked like he wanted to sink into the bed and disappear. —And you, what the hell are you doing encouraging this?—

—Encouraging?— Lando sputtered, his voice cracking slightly as he gestured toward Amelie. —You think I planned this? She just, she walked in, and...—

—And you couldn’t say no?— Checo interrupted again, his tone cutting.

—Oh, come on, Checo,— Amelie interjected, her tone light and teasing. —It’s not like we were doing anything crazy.—

Checo’s eyes widened in disbelief. —Anything crazy? You were practically eating his face when I walked in!—

Lando groaned, covering his face with his hands. This had to be the most humiliating moment of his life. —I wasn’t... we weren’t...— He trailed off, realizing there was no way to explain himself without digging the hole deeper.

Amelie, however, was clearly not fazed. She climbed off Lando’s lap, smoothing out her dress as she approached Checo with a grin. —Relax, cuñado. It’s not like this is the first time you’ve walked in on something awkward.—

—Don’t remind me,— Checo muttered, shaking his head. His eyes flicked back to Lando, who was still sitting stiffly on the bed. —I trusted you, man. You’re supposed to be the responsible one.—

—I am responsible!— Lando protested weakly, though even he didn’t sound convinced.

Checo raised a brow, clearly unimpressed. —Does this look responsible to you?—

Before Lando could attempt another defense, Amelie stepped in, wrapping her arms around Checo in a mockingly sweet hug. —Oh, Checo, you’re so dramatic. Go back to bed. I’m fine. Lando’s fine. Everything’s fine.—

Checo sighed heavily, gently prying her arms off him. —Amelie, you’re lucky I care about you, or I’d be calling your dad right now.—

—Oh, please don’t do that,— Lando blurted out, the mere thought making him pale.

Checo smirked slightly, clearly enjoying Lando’s panic. —Consider this a warning. Next time, lock the damn door.—

With that, he turned on his heel and walked out, muttering something under his breath about “kids these days” as he closed the door behind him.

Amelie waited a beat before bursting into laughter, collapsing onto the bed next to Lando, who was still frozen in place. —Did you see his face?— she gasped, clutching her stomach as she laughed. —He looked like he was going to have a heart attack!—

—Amelie, this isn’t funny,— Lando groaned, running a hand through his hair. —He’s going to hate me forever. I’ll never be able to look him in the eye again.—

She rolled onto her side, propping herself up on one elbow as she looked at him, her laughter subsiding into a soft giggle. —Oh, relax. He loves you. He’s just being overprotective.—

—Yeah, well, I don’t think he’s going to love me after this,— Lando muttered, flopping back against the pillows with a sigh.

Amelie leaned over him, pressing a kiss to his cheek. —Don’t worry. I’ll talk to him in the morning. He’ll get over it.—

Lando looked up at her, his expression still a mix of embarrassment and disbelief. —You’re way too calm about this. You know that, right?—

She grinned, brushing a strand of hair from his face. —What can I say? I thrive under chaos.—

Despite himself, Lando chuckled, shaking his head. —You’re going to be the death of me.—

Amelie’s smile softened as she leaned in, her lips brushing against his in a kiss that was slower, sweeter than before. —You like it.—

And damn it, he really did.

Lando couldn’t help but smile against her lips, his frustration melting away as he wrapped his arms around her. As much as Amelie drove him crazy—in every possible way—there wasn’t a part of him that wanted to be anywhere else.

He pulled back slightly, just enough to look at her. Her cheeks were still flushed from the champagne and the excitement of the night, her eyes sparkling in the dim light of the room. —You’re going to make me regret this one day, aren’t you?— he teased softly, his voice tinged with affection.

Amelie tilted her head, her grin playful. —Probably. But you’ll like me anyway.—

Lando let out a quiet laugh, brushing his fingers lightly along her jaw. —Yeah, I probably will.—

She settled against his chest, letting out a contented sigh as she nestled closer. For a moment, the world outside felt far away, the only sound in the room the faint hum of the TV.

—Do you think he’ll actually tell your dad?— Lando asked after a beat, his voice low but still carrying a note of panic.

Amelie snorted, shaking her head. —No way. Stella would never let him. And besides, he’s all bark and no bite when it comes to me. You’ll be fine.—

—You’re too confident about this,— Lando murmured, though her reassurance did make him feel a little better.

—It’s a gift,— she replied, her tone teasing. —Now, stop worrying and just enjoy the moment. You’re with me, and I’m pretty great, if I do say so myself.—

Lando rolled his eyes, but his smile gave him away. —You’re impossible, you know that?—

—And yet, here you are,— she quipped, tilting her head up to press a kiss to his jaw.

He tightened his arms around her, letting his head rest against hers. Despite the chaos of the evening—and the mortification of being caught by Checo—there was something undeniably perfect about this moment.

This time, the kiss was slow and unhurried, a quiet reminder of everything they’d built together over the years—the friendship, the chemistry, and now, the love.

And even though Lando knew Checo would probably give him hell in the morning, for now, he didn’t care. Because in this moment, with Amelie in his arms, everything else just faded away.
