I had the fortune of stumbling across @stupidlittlespirit ‘s (I hope you don’t mind the tag) “When it rains, it spores” fic which was an INCREDIBLE read. It is in-fact so good, it violently jerked me out of my creative block and had me picking up a pen once again. Although somewhat of a messy sketchy product, it was still a delight to visualise the hiding scene as I saw it in my mind.

One of the biggest challenges about writing a modern OFMD AU is you might be really tempted to send Stede to therapy. Especially if you're writing a fluffier piece, access to therapy and the Internet will help Stede realize he's a flaming homosexual and get on better footing with himself before he even meets Ed, allowing you to bypass many of their canon struggles as your Stede will be in a better position to actually use his words and communicate with his boyfriend.

However. It will also cause issues. And the biggest issue is that your Stede will now know Therapy Vocabulary and it will add an immediate +25% modifier to his Insufferable stat.

Ed will be crying and having a bad time and Stede will sit down with him, hold him close, kiss his sweet face, and then say "don't worry Ed. You're experiencing something us mental health experts call a Symptom 😔"

when you're into the Big Ship™ in a Big Fandom™, you have the luxury of having an OTP - a real One True Pairing, where you can read about just them for ages, and you will never run out of fics, and everything is perfect and beautiful and nothing hurts

but when you go to a smaller fandom, you'd better pray to whatever god you worship that someone else in this room ships the same thing that you do, and that if they do, they're writing more than late-night crackfic, because you're on thin fucking ice!

and how small is your small fandom? is it less than 100 fics? maybe even...less than 20 fics?

welp, then it's time to make peace with that god and either open up a text document or learn how to ship everything, because it's swim or drown babey! and your ship is sinking fast

anyway all of this is to say that after hanging out in small fandoms and shipping less-common pairings for a while, going back into a Big Huge Fandom™ is wild because suddenly it's like...wait, why didn't I ship these people again? I don't remember. why was I only sticking to one ship in this fandom?? boring of me, honestly. these guys should make out.

Because of course Mihawk doesn’t tolerate any insinuations that Shanks is weak. That’s his equal the other side to his coin if he’s weak then you’re calling Mihawk weak and Mihawk can’t have that. Probably reason 897 why Mihawk was so upset about left arm gate. Because Shanks went down to the East blue, the weakest of the blues, and lost his arm. It was probably months of people questioning his strenght and if they question his strength then they question Mihawk’s and mihawk has worked to hard on his reputation to have it all be undone by the prophetic whims of a red head.

The Party Animal and the Goth

Duncan tried to tell her before they showed up that this would be different. She should give it a try. It’d been years since the last party she went to with him (she’d been dating Trent at the time to, something Duncan further blamed for her bad time). Maybe she’d like it now. And Duncan wouldn’t leave her alone, he swore. No awkward hanging out by herself and the dog should they have one. And if Trent was there, Duncan would punch him just for her. Blah blah. All sorts of promises. Well. She wasn’t into it. Like she said she wouldn’t be. Duncan fucked off somewhere else. Like she thought he would. And she saw her ex Trent floating around and she was doing everything in her power to avoid any awkward small talk that would ensue the second he saw her again. Like she feared.  Of course the party was going to be that predictable. She should have put money on it. And there wasn't even a dog. Around midnight she’d gotten sick of the whole thing. But Duncan was off doing something (hopefully not someone) and Geoff found her. They talked. She mentioned maybe looking for DJ and leaving. But Geoff lit up like she’d just told him he won a prize and her night got a little weird. Instead of just saying bye or helping her find DJ or literally anything else, Geoff was instantly offering to talk her back to her dorm. So that got her where she was now, walking with Geoff away from his party.  What the fuck.

Summery: A classic 'Geoff walks Gwen home' story set in the year of 2013/2014, in which Gwen has decided to leave a party early and Geoff has decided he'll walk her home. (College AU, no camp.)

Horror's initial response to seeing the message appear out of nowhere, was to toss his axe at it full force. In his startle, he missed and the axe embedded into a nearby pillar. "Woah!" Horror exclaimed before he stepped closer and eyed the message. "Hey! It's one of those messages! From the creators! I've heard of these," He said, taking quite a bit of time to read the words. Definitely more than the average person would take.

Eventually he bellowed with laughter. "Well, you may not be able to per her from where ever you creators are, but I can do it for you," He offered before he inhaled a deep breath. "GHOST!" He yelled into the halls. After a moment of silence, heavy thumping could be heard from down the hall. Along with the sound of the cougar's pawsteps, came a long trail of loud complaints from Fell.

Horror stared at Ghost as she rounded the corner full speed, her jaws latched onto Fell's fluffy hood. She must have dragged him the whole way there, based on his unamused expression and folded arms. Ghost came to a stop before Horror, purring away. "Phht- Good girl," Horror said, patting her head.

Displeased, Fell summoned a bone and stabbed it through the hovering message. It shattered and vanished from sight.
