Carpenter and woodworker Sawyer Macaulay loves everything about living with her dog in her little cabin in a California mountain town. Everything, except for the gossip. Especially since she doesn't share the excitement the rest of her neighbors feel when Oscar Sarkson unexpectedly drops dead. Sure, most of the town hated Oscar, but Sawyer got on fine with him. He sold her woodworking in his gift shop, and she didn't pry into his private business. 

It worked for both of them. Right up until he died, that is. 

Now everyone in town seems to think she must know what's happening to Oscar's store and the rest of his money and property. All she knows is that everything he owned has been inherited by a distant relative. But everyone knows that.

Eddie Martinez is the contractor hired to remodel Oscar's building and Sawyer starts working for him. But any attempts at finding out more about the mysterious heir from him are met with evasiveness.

In between uncovering shocking secrets as they remodel the old building and everyone in town pestering her for information, Sawyer has her work cut out. She needs to find out what really happened to Oscar—and whatever it is Eddie is hiding. Especially if they're connected. 

To Sawyer, these secrets are like wood rot that goes deep. And as any carpenter knows, the only way to get rid of rot is to cut it out.

What your about to read is true, far as I can tell. I had to peace it together from old news papers that I found & my grandfather basement. It was not easy to do so. And from the stories that my late great grandfather told me.Its not what you think a Serial Killer book would be about, its about them chasing him down, the hole time. Not in they way you would think, but a lot of chasing.

100 days: If only it was a game! This one is about friends, trying to help out one of their friends that is dying and making his last days on earth as happy as they can, will they play Minecraft, the video game.

I've been brewing this post for far too long in my drafts, but I need more doomed!Bruce and Jason throughout universes. And it is not even always about the same Jaybin, dying in the warehouse scenarios!

Sometimes Jason is just a kid, who died in front of Batman, who maybe jumped in between Batman and the villain recklessly, to keep him safe, and whose blood stuck under Bruce's nails. His face haunts him in nightmares, still.

In other realities, Bruce meets Jason as a teen, and they never even get to become father and son officially - but they slowly get into each other's lives, until something awful happens, leaving a ghost of a smirking kid stroll behind Bruce's hunched figure for the rest of his life.

Or maybe it is one of these realities, where Jason crawls out of the Alley Crime himself, and manages to become famous in Gotham; the one, where he opens a charity fond, dedicated to people, who fight with the drug addiction. Bruce Wayne is sympathetic of a kid he meets during some of the events, and as they slowly start contacting each other more often, getting closer, he promises himself to protect him. Expect, Batman is late to save Jason Todd from the hands of yet another villain.

It could be the priest Jason Todd that meets bleeding out Batman on the stairs of the church, and who helps him out, for what he later pays with his life. Or they are not really vigilantes in any of these universes - just father and son.

And in some of these universes, they reconcile. In one of them, some of the medics connect the dots that a catatonic boy, who is covered in dirt, calling for his dad, for Bruce is Bruce's Wayne dead son, and try calling him. In another, LoA!Jason with his memory still being in a haze, crosses his path with Batman, before getting dipped in the Lazarus Pit.

But the point stands.

In all of them, Bruce Wayne is too late. In all of them, Bruce Wayne fails to save Jason Todd.

I love libraries.

I'm browsing the WWI shelves (as you do) and notice a very old book about the war. I glance at the first pages that talk about how one day the war will be over and we'll look at this place and not see any signs of the battlefield.

Then it hits me. And I check the publishing date.

This book was printed before the war's end. Not written. Printed. The physical object was created in 1918, while the war in question was raging and the end was as yet uncertain.

Now I'm standing on the other side of the apocalypse, with this physical link to that era in my hands. I'm living proof that the war did end and life did go on and we can all look at the end of the world as a long-ago memory.

Reading old books is cool enough, connecting our minds and hearts through the ideas of people who lived long ago, but there's something extra profound about holding a copy of the book that comes from the time that it was written. It's a physical link between the past and the present connecting me to those long-ago people. A piece of the past come into the future that gives me the chance to almost take the hand of some long-ago reader, to hold something they could have held, connecting not just mentally but physically to their era, a moment of connection across more than a century.

Excuse me while I go weep.

no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD
