Okay when I jokingly said I was the main person who liked Charlie I did not think I was genuinely creating the interest in him in my circles on other websites cause holy shit hhn tumblr you guys do not talk about my boy at all!!! Like I need to spread the Charlie McPherson propaganda because I love him so much and he's so very important to my characterization of Boris (and tbh he's pretty important to canon Boris too)

2024 WRAP : Top Queer Joy moments
After everything that happened this year, I wanted to make a post to remember all my favorite Queer Joy moments of 2024. I figured we all need a reminder that these happened and can keep happening, especially with what's coming up, politically speaking.
Please repost and add yours if they're not listed here!
Let's go lesbians! (and friends!) ⬇️
JANUARY : Renée Rapp stars in Mean Girls as Regina George, delivers the most perfect performance on SNL, serves the ultimate duo with Megan thee stallion with "Not my fault". The PWHL inaugural season begins with "She's gay, Marcus" and Carly Jackson's winks. MUNA breaks the lesbian internet by having Julien Baker (and later, Lucy Dacus) on their Gayotic podcast.
FEBRUARY : Victoria Monét, Billie Eilish, Tracy Chapman, Brandi Carlile with Joni Mitchell, and Boygenius (esp. The little one™) make history at the Grammys. Meanwhile, the Drive away dolls are having fun in the shower.
MARCH : Muscle mommies get a giant happy ending in Love, Lies, Bleeding. Rumours about Towa Bird and Renée Rapp dating amplify after the European leg of Renée's tour, they kinda hard launch at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party. Girl in Red gets a new album out, featuring Sabrina Carpenter. Old flames Shannon Beveridge & Fletcher finally talk to each other again.
APRIL : Coachella happens and we're blessed with two major moments : Chappell Roan's monologue about being your dream girl's dream girl while singing Good Luck, Babe! sending earthquakes through the realm, and Renée Rapp's double scissors stage, being introduced by the cast of the L word. Also, Young Miko releases an album, and Lily Gladstone's character Cam Bentland gay-smooches in a bathroom in "Under the bridge"
MAY : Billie Eilish is hungry for Lunch and hits us, hard and soft. Marina is endgame and they finally manage to get a family in Station 19's final season. And of course, I kissed a girl debuts it's unhinged glorious mess
JUNE : Towa Bird wants you to drain her, she's your American Hero, here to save you. Am I ok? is finally released and people have mixed feelings about it. Orphan black echoes does not live up to it's predecessor, but the theme song, composed and written by Julien Baker, is dope.
JULY : Clairo wants to be Sexy to someone. You cannot skip a Sailor Song cover on Tiktok. Katie Gavin has everyone gasping at the music video of her solo debut Aftertaste. Rémi Wolf puts out her new banger record. Rhaenyra Kisses Mysaria in the house of dragon. It's SO JULIA to come out.
AUGUST : The Gaylympics in Paris are the place to be. Billie Eilish drives a tractor through a wall and guesses the colour of Charli's underwear. The Sweat tour begins. We're inconsolable in the best way thanks to Katie Gavin. MUNA breaks the internet AGAIN by bringing Towa Bird and Naomi McPherson in the same room for the Gayotic podcast.
SEPTEMBER : At All Things Go, Towa Bird & Renée kiss on stage, Julien Baker refuses to celebrate her birthday but gets two cakes, Janelle Monae owns the stage, MUNA saves the day by covering for Chappell who had to cancel : They launch the LESBOPALOOZA and reaffirm the masc soprano supremacy. Then Roan of Arc in her shining armour stands her grown against a photographer and yells "Not me, bitch" at the VMAs. We get woken up when September ends with the kiss of death of Agathario.
OCTOBER : Imogen finds love in Heartstopper. During Julien Baker's fall tour, Lucy Dacus celebrates the lesbians and sings a song (or two) about her favorite one. Everybody embarks on the "I hate gay halloween, what do you mean you're" train. The pics are glorious.
NOVEMBER : Chappell gets the job done on SNL. Chloë Grace Moretz comes out, officially, and tells us to vote. CaitVi have sesbian lex in horny jail, and thus King Princess has now altered your brain chemistry with her song Fantastic
DECEMBER : We're holding space for the Wicked Author Gregory Maguire who confirms Glinda and Elphaba Lesbian Subtext Was “Intentional”. Fortune Feimster tells us all about her gay-honeymoon in her new Netflix special. Shura announces that her third album is coming. Torres and Julien Baker announce a yeehaw album and tour, and they want you to put Sugar in the tank.

Penicuik Sketches Reconstructions
In honor of St. Andrew’s Day, I decided to draw a series of drawings of one of my favorite subjects—Scottish Highlanders of the Jacobite Uprisings of 1715 and 1745 (I’ve loved Scottish history since 10th grade).
One of the few primary sources we have of the Jacobite Uprisings are a series of anonymous sketches of soldiers in Bonnie Prince Charlie’s army sketched by an inhabitant of the town of Penicuik, drawn when the Jacobites stayed briefly in the town. The sketches are, well, sketches, and thus lack a lot of detail, so I decided to reconstruct four of the sketches with captions naming the figures in my own style to bring these figures more to life.
General Observations
All the highlanders are portrayed as clean-shaven with loose, stringy hair.
The highlanders are portrayed as stocky and fleshy-face.
The Figures
Glengary-Glengary is a left-handed swordsman, wielding a basket-hilted broadsword and targe, with a pistol at his belt. He wears a large blue bonnet and sporran, but unlike the popular image of a Highlander does not wear a belted plaid; instead, he wears a short jacket and breeches. The Penicuik sketches don't really capture the colors of the jackets, so I elected to make his jacket have a tartan pattern; tartan garments such as coats, jackets, waistcoat and breeches were often signals of Jacobite sympathy.
Duncan Mcgregor of Dalnasplutrach-This Highlander also wears breeches, his plaid simply wrapped over his shoulder like a sash. He still wears the iconic blue bonnet and carries the classic arms of broadsword and targe.
Keppoch-This may very well be a sketch of the Jacobite officer Alexander MacDonald of Keppoch, 17th Chief of the MacDonalds of Keppoch, who was killed at the battle of Culloden in 1746; if not, it is almost certainly one of his men. I drew "Keppoch" as a middle-aged man, and decided that what looked like baggy shorts was likely the artist's rendition of the belted plaid. He wears a blue bonnet, with the white cockade of the Jacobite army pinned prominently on the side. Like other well-off Highlanders, he carries a broadsword, targe, and pistol.
Mcpherson-This may be a sketch of Ewen MacPherson of Cluny, AKA "Cluny MacPherson," the Chief of Clan MacPherson, or it may be one of his men. In either case, the way his plaid is being portrayed is not easily discernable. Given his bulky profile, I decided to interpret the drawing as him wearing his plaid wrapped around his shoulders for warmth and belted at the waist to keep the voluminous folds tucked away, but not worn in the way a belted plaid typically would be. I decided to portray "McPherson" as an old but vigorous man, wearing a plain grey jacket but with tartan breeches and stockings and the iconic Highland sporran hanging in front of his waist for easy access. He is not portrayed in the original sketch wearing any kind of headgear, so I omitted that detail, but kept the pistol at his belt. He too carries the broadsword and targe of the affluent Highlander.

Speaking of old flames, Charlie has had a set of admirers of her own. But probably the one that threatened Vinnie the most was Asphalt Jack McPherson. What are your thoughts on him?
Ah, a very good question! And one I have some insider information on.
Throughout the series Charley has a couple of would-be suitors, such as Greasepit and Sir Lancelot. While Vinnie reacted with some degree of jealousy ( especially with Lancelot ) at the same time he was secure in the knowledge that Charley would go for neither guy. Greasepit of course not, and Lancelot lived in a completely different time and place that Charley couldn’t possibly stay in.
However, with Asphalt Jack, it’s clear there is still a strong bond between him and Charley. Even though Jack would eventually look elsewhere for a relationship, going so far as to get engaged, Charley reacts with a bit of jealousy herself ( oh, how the tables have turned ).
One of the reasons why Vinnie feels so threatened by Jack is because Jack possibly stands a chance of being with Charley again. He’s known her since high school, they were engaged once before, and was the first true love of Charley’s life. Jack has had sexual relations with Charley ( read down below ) which is only going to make Vinnie feel more insecure and jealous.
I think it would be best to share words from the show’s original director and producer Tom Tataranowicz here, as he goes into detail about the whole McCyber and Vinnie rivalry dynamic.
This post was originally made by him to the Unofficial Biker Mice Club web forums back in 1998:
Re: All about Charley (to Camilia)
Posted by Tom Tataranowicz on Sunday, 15 March 1998, at 7:39 p.m., in response to Re: Stink To Stink from Tom Tataranowicz, posted by Camilia on Sunday, 15 March 1998, at 5:11 p.m.
well, y'see, McCyber was the first major love of Charley's life. They are the same age, first met in high school and were an item. When they graduated, Jack went off to college, and Charley to Junior College, which she ahd to leave to help out her dad.
That was that for a while until Jack came back on Summer break. hey ecame involved again, and it was then that Charley lost her ... uh, lessee ...how can I say it "P.C.-wise"? Well, y'know, ... they shared something very special. They subsequently became engaged.
However, needless to say, that didn't work out and they went their separate ways. But this relationship is strongly hinted at and is why Vinnie is so jealous in the "Virtual Unreality" episode. This "subtext" is all something I worked out before the writing of the episode, and not something I just made up. I swear. A careful viewing of the episode and listening to the subtlties of the performances will bear this out.
Jack subsequently became one of the country's premier freelance computer imaging consultants.
That's it for now. Lemme think a bit about how much to reveal about the Vinnie/Charley thing (hopefully the McCyber/Charley tryst gave you enough soap opera for today) and the story of Modo's wife.

Reverence
Review by Matt Collar
Alto saxophonist Charles McPherson celebrates the ebullient spirit of his mentor, the late pianist Barry Harris, on 2024's Reverence. Roughly a decade younger than Harris (who died in 2021 at age 91), McPherson performed and studied with the legendary pianist, teacher, and notoriously comprehensive intellectual during his formative teen years growing up in Detroit. The relationship not only gave him a solid foundation in the fundamentals of melody, harmony, and rhythm, but reinforced his passion for the bebop jazz building blocks set forth by Charlie Parker, his main stylistic influence. While there are no specific Harris compositions featured, the album certainly embodies the kind of intellectual, yet still passionate style the pianist championed. Recorded live at Smoke Jazz & Supper Club in New York, the album finds McPherson leading the same group featured on 2020's Jazz Dance Suites, including trumpeter Terell Stafford, pianist Jeb Patton, bassist David Wong, and drummer Billy Drummond. Together, they dive into a handful of the saxophonist's originals, including the minor-blues opener "Surge" (which features a fiery solo from Stafford) and the swinging waltz "Blues for Lonnie in Three," whose spritely trumpet and sax melody evokes the classic Clifford Brown and Max Roach albums of the '50s. We also get two standards, including a tender reading of "Old Folks" and a soulful take on "Come Rain or Come Shine" that showcases McPherson's throaty, play-from-the-heart style. All of this leads to the album-closing "Ode to Barry," a sparkling Latin jazz homage to the pianist. Over 60 years into his career, McPherson ascended the ranks of jazz master long ago, and finds his own creative voice alongside the work of his idols Harris and Parker. Reverence honors that journey, and McPherson plays with the kind of hard-swinging, cogent improvisational style that echoes their spirit.
