#elizabeth woodville #like they were in sanctuary for almost a year so this would've happened for AT LEAST a few months during that time #the entire neighborhood being fortified and under armed guard to keep them from escaping should also be talked about a lot more than it is.#especially because there WAS a plot to spirit some of her daughters overseas but fortification prevented that possibility #the way armed soldiers were present during the time she was compelled to give up her 9-year old youngest son should also be talked about #Also her list of requirements to Richard before exiting sanctuary - that her daughters wouldn't be hurt/ravished and no one would #be imprisoned - such a damning indication of what she thought during that time #and the fact that the council was deeply unhappy by Richard's disregard and disrespect shown to Elizabeth's 'dignity and safety'#is also so striking - especially because this was BEFORE he crowned himself king. Can you imagine what they thought after?#idk I just feel like historians and people talk about their tenure in sanctuary so casually when it must have been terrible for them #especially because we know Elizabeth was literally penniless and dependent on sanctuary's charity #and the fact that her entire family (sans her sisters) was either murdered imprisoned or exiled #AND the fact that they had no foreign protection so it's not like they could depend on any powerful connections to help them #like the defeated Lancastrians were helped in the 1460s (obviously Louis XI's support was dependent on his own aims but that doesn't really #matter - at the end of the day they could set up a court in exile with a pension thanks to Margaret's father. Once again, the way S02A adds new plots and new characters and they all struggle to contend for screentime in each episode, is palpable.

#I don't go episode by episode in S02A so far because I barely have anything new to say #same opinions same issues since the 2021 rewatch #they just get more solid and more noticeable #they obviously try to shift the focus since more serious stuff has happened and will happen #so there should be bigger comedy between bigger stakes right?#nope it's often not done well #and the Isabella arc between it all just...#the funniest thing in the arc is that they seem to actually pretend everything is sooo serious with her *even* when it comes to the #“this could cause literal war” angle but then the characters just... don't care and this isn't a commentary for anything it all just gets #thrown outta the window for some more drama and when it's time for the arc to end #and the Bali Bey and Armin shlock also comes in and it gets even *worse* in each rewatch how is this possible?#and the show just can't balance all these plots sadly it's such a mess #the thing is that the heavy stuff with Hürrem Ibrahim Hatice Nigar Süleiman is sooo interesting and sooo compelling actually #it always fascinates me but it's piled in with all the rest and it makes the eps in general seem like filler even when they very much ain't #the *nadier* of said filler feel is honestly Bali Bey's pathetic feud with signor Gritti I was so glad to have erased from my memory #why oh why?#you could've just... not gone with Eleniki that one night Bali why should Gritti appease you exactly???#Isabella also being there as a noble woman to challenge Hürrem's status becomes even more obvious now since her first scene comes in #right after Hürrem tells Mihrimah that she as a princess will do what her mother couldn't due to her hurt of the scandal with Hatice in E26 #but once again *it would've worked more* if it were utilized for more than pretty much... two scenes #and if we didn't have a stronger setup with Hafsa and Hatice (and even Mahi's charity) throughout all of the half-season and later on too #(Hatice and Isabella and Mihrimah's ties as royal princesses cropping up in these episodes are interesting tho)#okay I will stop complaining about S02A already and will keep on going with the rewatch focusing on what I like instead #magnificent century #muhteşem yüzyıl #muhtesem yuzyil

What's the alternative?

Having a house full of people I don't like? Never reading?

Really, this sort of thing speaks to what is valued in a particular society.

In America, there is something "wrong" with you if you don't have friends.

In America, everyone willingly admits they have shitty experiences with shitty peoples. That they're not happy.

How could I be happy with such people?

People who never really look the issues in the eye?

Meanwhile there is a loneliness epidemic. Here, in America. Where extroversion and community ties are heralded as normal and what will heal us...

The sickness inside of us. It is different for us.

It is a different sickness - the ones normal people have - versus the ones that abnormal people have.

Ofc they're sometimes the same but they mirror each other.

A lack of self knowledge, a lack of self compassion, and a lack of self determination. A lack of awareness of other, a lack of compassion for other, a lack of will to do anything for another.

Hm.

Living on the outside as an actual weirdo when.. everyone fakes it. Everyone fakes everything.

But people sometimes are the most real and visible when they're hurt. Sometimes they're even less real. Just a shadow of who they are. Sometimes they're both.

Our world would do better to make it so everyone can live, safely healthily and freely.

I want an AU of villain! Bruce who’s absolutely dog-shit at being evil.

Firstly: The worst thing he can think of doing is not donating to animal shelters or charities . immediately feels so guilty he throws up.

Secondly: The second a child cries because of him, he’d freeze up. Stand like a statue, unmoving and petrified. No more evil, but just today.

He ends up helping the city by accident more often than not, and to his immortal disappointment, Gotham loves both the Bat and Bruce Wayne.
