Food insecurity casts a long shadow over millions of Americans. It's not just about hunger; it's about the chronic stress of not knowing where your next meal will come from, the compromised health, and the limited opportunities that follow. In the US, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are playing a crucial role in addressing this complex issue, moving beyond immediate relief to sustainable solutions.
The Frontlines: Food Banks and Immediate Relief
At the heart of the fight against hunger are food banks. These vital organizations act as a lifeline for individuals and families facing food insecurity. They collect and distribute food donations from individuals, businesses, and government programs.
Donate Food: You can directly contribute by donating non-perishable food items to your local food bank. Popular items include canned goods (fruits, vegetables, proteins), dry goods (pasta, rice, beans), and shelf-stable milk. Remember to check expiration dates!
Volunteer: Food banks rely heavily on volunteers to sort, pack, and distribute food. Offering your time is a powerful way to make a direct impact.
Financial Donations: Monetary contributions allow food banks to purchase essential items and cover operational costs.
These efforts provide critical short-term relief, ensuring that people have access to nutritious meals. However, NGOs recognize that addressing the root causes of food insecurity requires a more comprehensive approach.
Building Bridges: Vocational Training and Sustainable Solutions
To break the cycle of poverty and food insecurity, NGOs are increasingly focusing on vocational training. These programs empower individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to secure stable employment and achieve financial independence.
Skills-Based Training: NGOs offer programs in various fields, including culinary arts, construction, technology, and healthcare. These programs often partner with local businesses to ensure that training aligns with industry needs.
Job Placement Assistance: Many NGOs provide job search assistance, resume writing workshops, and interview coaching to help participants transition into the workforce.
Entrepreneurship Support: Some organizations offer micro-loans and business training to aspiring entrepreneurs, fostering self-sufficiency and economic growth.
By equipping individuals with marketable skills, vocational training programs create pathways to long-term economic stability, reducing reliance on food assistance and empowering communities.
Beyond Food: Addressing Holistic Needs
Recognizing that food insecurity is often intertwined with other challenges, NGOs are adopting a holistic approach.
Donate Clothes: Many NGOs partner with organizations that provide clothing to those in need. Clean, gently used clothing can make a significant difference in someone's life, especially during harsh weather conditions.
Housing Assistance: Some NGOs offer programs that provide temporary or permanent housing, addressing a critical need for many individuals and families.
Healthcare Access: NGOs may partner with healthcare providers to offer free or low-cost medical services, addressing health disparities that contribute to food insecurity.
Educational Support: Programs that provide tutoring, mentoring, and scholarships help break down educational barriers and create opportunities for future generations.
The Power of Partnership
The fight against food insecurity requires a collaborative effort. NGOs, government agencies, businesses, and individuals must work together to create a more equitable and sustainable food system. By supporting NGOs through volunteering, donations, and advocacy, we can empower communities and build a brighter future for all.

Note: Hi! This is an attempt of writing a fanfic long after writing anything at all. Please also keep in mind English is no longer my first language and it might be a bit rusty and odd at times but I try my best. The story is a non idol BTS fanfic with Suga being the main character. The first chapter or so there might not be a lot of Yoongi but I want the backstory to be clear. The next chapters there will be way more of him I promise! If you want to be on the tag list let me know!
You slowly stepped into the on-call room, sighing while rubbing your aching nape. The painful muscle tension was starting to turn into a headache. You sat down on the big couch and leaned your head back, instantly feeling your body loosen and sink into the soft cushions. Today was a rough day for the ER unit. The hospital was dealing with multiple trauma victims due to a horrendous bus collision. Some patients were barely banged up others unfortunately were looking like they might not make it threw the night. You were already dreading the moment you would have to talk with their family members in case the worse was to come.
The weight of the hour-less intense work and surgeries was starting to rub off on your whole body. As you were almost about to doze off, the doors slammed wide open. “What a fucking trip…” Jungkook stopped mid sentence when he saw you glare at him from under your hooded eyelids. “How many energy drinks did your pour into yourself Kook?” you said in a bit agitated tone. You were tired and running on fumes. He seemed way less strained.
The on-call room was called so for a reason. It was supposed to be a safe heaven for peace and rest. It seemed as tho people like your long time friend let those facts slip their mind. “Sorry Y/N. I did not think you were about to sleep… You looked on fire there!” scoffing a bit under your breath you mumbled “Sometimes I really doubt your capability to think at all… and yes I was lit because I had to at the moment plus I had tons of adrenaline pumping in my system. Now it’s all wearing off”. Running his tattooed hand threw the thick and shiny locks of hair he sighed in defeat. He knew your were right. At times he was way to energetic and high maintenance.
“Still good for tomorrow?” he changed the subject not wanting to get into a war of back and forth bantering. Nodding your head you hummed in agreement.
Both of you usually made plans on your days off to go out and give medical attention to those who were less fortunate. You took care of the homeless, drug addicts and poor elders that were embarrassed to seek help at the official medical institutions. Many times it was also the lack of insurance that could get very high. The two of you saw it as charity and giving back to society.
You met Jungkook at med school in the USA. He was a scholarship student that worked his way into getting the opportunity to study overseas. You were the only person at your year that was able to speak Korean due to the fact you went to Seoul during part of your high school years. So of course you were more than happy to help Kook who at times struggled with the more difficult English terms during the lectures.
Over the years you two grew close and he was the one to say you should once again go to Seoul and take up your internship there. Being an adventurous young woman the mere thought of it seemed a great idea. So here you were years later already after your internship with a secured position as one of the junior trauma surgeons and planning charity work with your friend. You already scheduled some “appointments” with your long term patients.
To be honest you preferred this type of work more than the big shot tasks at the hospital. For you medicine should focus more on helping people. The world showed you many times that if you were less fortunate or simply made some bigger mistakes in life, the cruel reality was that usually there was no way to afford medical attention and insurance. Sometimes it was also the cost of meds themselves. Those could be unbelievably high, especially when it came to rare or terminal illnesses.
You and Kookie worked with official charities that did their best to find funds for some crucial medication for the poor. Not once did you also end up saving lives of some addicts that overdosed. Usually people just let them lay on the streets and did not care to help. You could not blame them tho. The less nice areas of the city were also full of con artists and people simply did not want to risk their own lives. At times it was also the mentality of “they did it to themselves, now they need to bear the consequences”.
You were not there to judge. How could any of you know what these people went threw in life? What pushed them to “self medicate”. So you kept focused solemnly on helping those who seemed like they needed it.
You closed your eyes again trying to ignore the fact that Jungkook was rustling around with some food wrapping. “If I am to survive the last two hours of this hell shift and be of any use tomorrow I would greatly appreciate you stop making a ruckus and let me rest!” you huffed angrily, not even bothering to open your eyes. Once the room was filled with silence, a content smirk spread over your lips. At last the well deserved quiet. Sweet darkness of dreamland slowly took over your mind.
*** *** ***
Getting to your apartment after ending a difficult day at the hospital always filled you with relief. It was close to 8 p.m. Not having to work the night shift this time and having the day off tomorrow made you really happy. As you walked deeper into the hallway your nostrils got hit with a mouthwatering smell of delicious food cooking, it instantly made a smile spread on your lips. The sizzling sound coming from the kitchen meant that your fiancĂŠ was already off work as well.
He was one of the best criminal detectives in the city. You both worked hard and sometimes very long hours, but you somehow managed to keep your relationship flourishing threw all the years. Walking towards the sweet and sour smell, you saw his slim frame hovering over some pans and stirring their content. His wide slim shoulders moving under a simple black t-shirt. They matched so well with his thin waist shaping his figure into a perfect triangle.
Resting against the door frame you stared at him in awe. “Are you gonna keep looking or do you plan on saying hello?” he said in a joking tone and turned to you with a big grin that reached to his eyes. You always wondered how he could keep such a sunshine attitude while working a job full of murders, death and gore.
Pushing your back off the frame you walked to him humming and wrapping your arms around him. You rested your chin on his shoulder, breathing in his fresh scent. “Hoba… you are too good to me…” you murmured and kissed him behind the ear. The fact that after a surely long day of work for him, he was there making you both a nice late dinner made your heart squeeze.
You really appreciated having him in you life and that somehow you both were deeply involved despite having hectic and difficult careers. The saying - where there is will there is a way - always made you think of your relationship with Hoseok.
After finishing dinner and basically licking your plate clean, you turned to Hobi with a smile “I’ll take care of the dishes” you said taking the plates from the table and making your way to the kitchen. As you were about to dry off the last glass you felt slender fingers creep up your back. You turned your face a bit a small smirk twisting the side of your lips.
“I was thinking of desert…” Hoseok said in a deep voice staring straight into your eyes. “Oh yea? You want me to run down to the store and grab something?” you teased, being well aware that was not what he had in mind. The twinkling of your eyes giving away how much you were enjoying this. But your fiancé was not the type to put up with games for too long so his only response was rolling his eyes, grabbing you and lifting you up. Wrapping your legs around his waist you kissed him desperately.
Lately both of you were so busy with work, you barely had the time or strength for even watching a movie together, so you excitedly welcomed the attention he was giving you. Not bothering to make it to the bedroom you ended on his lap on the couch. Your kisses were getting wild and messy. Just as you started to grind against his growing member, your breaths getting fast and uneven, you heard the loud ring of your phone.
If it were any other signal you would chose to ignore it completely, but the ring tone suggested is was Jungkook from his “special” number in case of an emergency. “Foooor fucks sake!” you growled trying to wait out the call, still kissing and moving your hips over your fiancé. If it was just a couple rings you could try and tell yourself your friend was piss ass drunk messing around.
Much to your dismay the phone kept on buzzing “I need to take this…” you said sadly looking at Hobi who was trying to even out his excited heartbeat. “It’s ok babe” he said, he knew he could not be angry about it, usually it was him being called into some crime scene. You walked away to answer the call “You better be almost dead or something close to that to have a reason for calling me at this hour!” you hissed into the speaker.
“Y/N! This is serious. A guy needs help… he can’t get into the hospital and the wounds are beyond my expertise. I am downstairs waiting for you. I really need your fucking help. I will explain everything later” his voice was shaky and full of what seemed like fear, so you stopped your ranting right away.
You quickly ran to grab your coat “I am coming down!” closing the door on your way out you told Hoseok you might have a very late night and maybe he should not wait up for you. Taking quick strides down the stairs of your apartment building you once again were thanking the universe for the most understanding man to have chosen to exist in your life.
*** *** ***
You quickly got into Kooks car throwing your medical bag onto the back seat. “I brought all my suturing stuff in case it was really that bad…” you said under your breath still a bit irked at the fact you were driving somewhere instead of getting frisky with your lover. “You will need it. Trust me…” is all your friend said.
Turing to finally look at him you saw he was pale, his hair was messy and his forehead was beaded with sweat. He was clutching the stirring wheel to the point his knuckles were white. You never saw him so nervous, not even at the hospitals ER unit.
Driving in silence for some time you finally snapped out of your trail of thoughts and realized you made it into the shady outskirts of Seoul. Even when working on your charity missions you both never made it into the really dangerous corners of the city, so you were very surprised and felt a shiver run threw your body.
You let your questioning gaze fall to Kookie, you were about to blurt out a “what the fuck man?” but before you could, he was out of the car grabbing your bag and walking to your side. Seeing your face full of questions, he opened the car door for you looking at you seriously “It’s fine… we are fine… we need to go there” he pointed towards a dark building that looked like a hangar.
Your body involuntarily shook at the sight. You immediately thought of all the crime scenes and stories Hobi shared with you from time to time when you asked him about work. But instead of listening to your panicking mind, you decided that surely Jungkook had to know what was going on and since he said it was fine it had to be, right?
You cautiously walked behind him letting him carry your bag. Usually you would always rip it out just to show what a strong and independent woman you were. Once you walked into the building you could hear the soles of your shoes clank on the hard floor. It all started to feel like some thriller movie, the type with a bad ending. The beating of your heart was so loud you could swear Kook had to hear it. The adrenalin was rushing in your system and you were starting to feel in flight mode.
Before you could panic more, an unknown voice broke you out of the cycle “Fucking bout’ time!” a tall and strong built guy growled at your friend and then eyed you top to bottom. “This is that great surgeon? She is supposed to be better than you?” he scoffed, a look of disbelief forming on his face. “For your information I am fucking better at surgical work than most!” you snapped. You were freaked out and now some dude that looked like a typical thug was trying to insult you.
“You better not be just running your mouth hun” he smirked grabbing you by the wrist and pulling you to the next room. He basically shoved you inside and tossed your bag at you. You didn’t even know when he managed to take it from Kook. The sight in front of you was gruesome. A young male about your age was laying on some banged up table. Blood was oozing out of his stomach. His pitch black long hair was sticky, his skin pale as a sheet of paper.
“Bloody hell…” you whispered walking up to the man. You turned to look at your colleague giving him the “what do you expect me to do?! make a fucking miracle happen?!” stare. You bent over the man and checked for a pulse. To your surprise he was still alive.
Looking at his slashed abdomen you thought to yourself there is now way you can do anything in these conditions. Even if by some chance you were to manage to stitch him up, the place was far from sterile, so he would die of sepsis anyway. “He needs a fucking hospital!” you say and take your phone out to call up an ambulance.
Suddenly your cell got knocked out of your hands and fell to the floor with a loud thud. Just as your were about to scream your head off, you saw it, the end of a gun pointing straight at your forehead. “No hospitals” the tall male snarled. Now you were sure, you got into some gang business and this was not gonna go the way you want.

so, 2025 doesn't seem like the year for our environment. but what can you, as an individual, and we, as a group, do in the face of denial?
please like, reblog, and share.
as donald trump takes office in 2025, he brings with him his ignorance of climate change. the government in the usa will now do nothing to reduce their carbon emissions, and whether you're republican or democratic or not even american, this event will affect you and the generations to come.
so... how can we make a difference?
as individuals, this seems like too big a problem to tackle. but we, the people, can make the biggest change. women's voting and gay rights did not start when governments started listening to what people were saying. they started when people took to the streets in protest, demanding better policies, better laws, better futures. if we work together, we can make a difference.
some steps you can take to reduce your carbon emissions:
eat locally grown/produced food. this encourages sustainable practises of farming, reduces the need for fuel-based transportation, and generates less pollution.
eat less meat, particularly lamb and beef. livestock generally produces a large amount of methane, which is a particularly harmful greenhouse gas. in especially more intensive farms, crops and trees are often cut down to make way for the large amounts of land that we need to raise animals.
take public transport, or even walk to places. this reduces your carbon emissions by miles, and often is a reason for you to improve your physical health. this is also much more economically sustainable for you, with fuel prices rising as companies make record profits drilling into our home.
these individual solutions are not only doable, but also cost effective. this is very much your world, and we, the future generation, can do all we can to reduce the harmful legacy we're inheriting.
if you and a group of people, families or friends or whole communities, are passionate about what is happening to our earth, here's some things that require a group effort:
try to get your family talking about other, renewable sources of energy for your home, or better insulation. conserving energy and generating it from endless sources are a fantastic way to reduce your carbon footprint and take action against climate change. and once you do it, convince others to do the same.
volunteer at cleanups. live in a littered area? see rubbish at the beach? organise something with family or friends to help clean it up! working as a group will increase morale and ultimately get the job done, and the next time you look at that place, you'll feel a sense of satisfaction as a reward. you may even make it a open event, and meet new people who have the same beliefs as you along the way.
recycle, reuse, and give. this seems obvious, but over-consumption is almost trendy today, as fast fashion takes the stage to triumph more sustainable ways of clothing. swap clothes with your friends, donate old clothes to charity, even buy secondhand, but all of these things are pre-loved and extremely helpful for the environment. additionally, using things until they can't be used anymore is an underrated yet effective (and cost effective!) way of doing nothing while doing a lot.
it's not too late, not for america, and not for the rest of the world. there are people all over the globe showing others how to be kinder to our earth, and when the people in charge won't, we will. it's time to make 2025 the year of change. it's time to start fighting for our futures and uniting under a common cause. what affects the poor today will affect the rich tomorrow, and you will feel the impact of rising sea levels and deforestation and global warming in no time. this is no 'old arguement'. this is an international emergency. we will not be dismissed; we will not do nothing.
in the words of greta thunberg, change is coming, whether you like it or not.

USA people are cowards. I just saw a post saying "organizing is hard uwu". What do you think the global south has been doing to organize under USA intervention?? You think it was easy? You think people weren't poor and hurt or fighting internalized damaging mindsets too?? Even the minorities in USA have organized before to fight for their rights.
Such a defeatist mindset... fr
Feeling defeated is how the oligarchy wants you to think. Divided and exhausted so you don't fight back.
If you can't support the causes in person for whatever reason, or with money, or you can't be at the radical forefront of protests, etc, that's FINE. Yes, those high impact actions are super important. But the strength of social movements is in numbers and being relentless, not in perfection. You can find other ways.
Organize with your close community (family, neighbours, coworkers, friends... help each other even if your political views don't align 100%, find common ground), prioritize causes in the short-term don't try to tackle all of them at once, actually listen to actionable small things you can do to protect your peers who are minorites; talk about these topics irl not just online, volunteer with charities, join student comitees, join a workers union, boycott, make art, make posters, read, learn a different language so you can get unbiased news and education, etc. There are many ways. And yes, you can have breaks and care for your mental health. It's a long fight anyway. You have to buckle up for years of resistance and do not expect it to be easy. There is joy and community in resistance, too! And yes, it's fucking exhausting, that's how it is. Welcome to the fight.

The Harkles vs. real Philanthropy by u/wenfot
The Harkles vs. real Philanthropy As the Harkles have babbled on about their philanthropic efforts, I've been enraged by their hypocrisy.I was fortunate to have spent three years the Gates Foundation as a contract admin assistant. (This was during the time before their divorce). I worked in their Gender Equality and K-12 Eduucation departments.Say what you will about the Gateses, but I can tell you the work in these areas is real. Their program officers reviewed grant applications from certified charities that did real work: providing bank accounts for women in Africa so they could manage their own money separate from their husbands; funding scholarships and programs to help low income students in the USA fill out their college applications; helping women and girls break free from domestic abuse; providing healthcare in rural Africa and India so women didn't have to walk for days to find neonatal and post-natal care; funding schools so women and girls, no matter where they live, can get a proper education while providing for their families. That's just a small selection of what they do.The program officers travel regularly to these places to see how the funds are being spent. I arranged countless Zoom calls so they could check in regularly with people running these programs, regardless of the time difference (1:00 a.m. calls are not fun!) These grants are reviewed and if they aren't doing the work they claim to do, the funding is revoked. These grantees and the dedicated people who run them aren't in it for themselves. They are walking the walk, willing to live in poor and dangerous parts of the world. They show up every single day, not just for a glitzy, feel good photo op.The point I'm trying to make is that real philanthropy isn't a vacation. It's being invested not just with money, but with taking the time and making the effort to see what the real needs are and how to meet them. The Harkles are faux humanitarians. Archewell is a sham. They only work one hour a week. Their photo ops make my blood boil because you know damn good and well that they won't provide funds, guidance, or mentorship to these schools and charities once they leave. My hope is that eventually, Archewell will be audited and the grift exposed. These charities and the dedicated, selfless people who run then day after day deserve nothing less. post link: https://ift.tt/R6oIXMd author: wenfot submitted: August 21, 2024 at 05:30PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
September 6, 2024
Heather Cox Richardson
Sep 07, 2024
One of the things that came to light on Wednesday, in the paperwork the Justice Department unveiled to explain its seizure of 32 internet domains being used by Russian agents in foreign malign influence campaigns, was that the six right-wing U.S. influencers mentioned in the indictments of the Russian operatives are only the tip of the iceberg.
Since at least 2022, three Russian companies working with the Kremlin have been trying to change foreign politics in a campaign they called “Doppelganger,” covertly spreading Russian government propaganda. “[F]irst and foremost,” notes from a meeting with Russian officials about targeting Germany read, “we need to discredit the USA, Great Britain, and NATO.” Through fake social media profiles, their operatives posed as Americans or other non-Russians, seeding public conversations with Russian propaganda.
In August 2023 they launched the “Good Old USA Project” to target swing-state residents, online gamers, American Jews, and “US citizens of Hispanic descent” to reelect Donald Trump. "They are afraid of losing the American way of life and the ‘American dream,’” one of the propagandists wrote. “It is these sentiments that should be exploited in the course of an information campaign in/for the United States.” Using targeted ads on Facebook, they could see how their material was landing and use bots and trolls to push their narrative in comment sections.
“In order for this work to be effective, you need to use a minimum of fake news and a maximum of realistic information,” the propagandists told their staff. “At the same time, you should continuously repeat that this is what is really happening, but the official media will never tell you about it or show it to you.”
According to the documents, one of the three companies, Social Design Agency (SDA), monitors and collects information about media organizations and social media influencers. It collected a list of 1,900 “anti-influencers,” whose accounts posted material SDA workers thought operated against Russian interests. About 26% of those accounts were based in the U.S.
SDA also identified as pro-Russian influencers more than 2,800 people in 81 countries operating on various social media platforms like X, Facebook, and Telegram. Those influencers included “television and radio hosts, politicians, bloggers, journalists, businessmen, professors, think-tank analysts, veterans, professors, and comedians.” About 21% of those influencers were in the U.S.
YouTube took down the Tenet Media Channels associated with the Justice Department’s indictments, and last night, Tenet Media abruptly shut down. In The Bulwark, Jonathan V. Last noted that the Tenet influencers maintain they were dupes, although they must have been aware that their paychecks were crazy high for the numbers of viewers they had. He asks if, knowing now that their gains are ill-gotten, they are going to give them to charity.
Earlier this week, former Fox News Channel personality Tucker Carlson hosted Holocaust denier Darryl Cooper on his X show, where Cooper not only suggested that the death of more than six million Jews was an accidental result of poor planning, but also argued that British prime minister Winston Churchill, who stood firm against the expansion of fascist Germany in World War II, was the true villain of the war.
Cooper’s argument puts him squarely on the side of Russian president Vladimir Putin and Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán, who insist that democracy undermines society. During the recent summer Olympics, Cooper posted on social media an image of Hitler in Paris alongside another of drag queens representing Greek gods at the Olympic opening ceremonies, an image some on the right thought made fun of the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples. “This may be putting it too crudely for some,” Cooper wrote, “but the picture [of Hitler in Paris] was infinitely preferable in virtually every way than the one on the right.”
The idea that Churchill, not Hitler, is the villain of World War II means denying the fact of the Holocaust and defending the Nazis. It lands Carlson and Cooper in the same camp as those autocrats journalist Anne Applebaum notes are “making common cause with MAGA Republicans to discredit liberalism and freedom around the world.” Elon Musk promoted the interview, saying it was “very interesting,” and “worth watching,” before the backlash made him delete his post. The video has been viewed nearly 30 million times.
Carlson told Lauren Irwin of The Hill that the Biden administration is made up of “warmonger freaks” who have “used the Churchill myth to bring our country closer to nuclear war than at any moment in history.” Carlson is on a 16-day speaking tour, on which he will interview Trump allies, including Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance and Donald Trump Jr.
Trump today continued his effort to undermine the democratic American legal system in a “news conference” of more than 45 minutes, in which he took no questions. Although Judge Juan Merchan, who oversaw the election interference case in which a jury found Trump guilty on 34 counts, decided today to delay sentencing until November 26 to avoid any appearance that the court was trying to affect the 2024 election, Trump nonetheless launched an attack on the U.S. legal system and suggested the lawsuits against him were election interference.
He spoke after he and his legal team were in court today to try to overturn a jury’s conclusion that he had sexually assaulted writer E. Jean Carroll, a decision that brought his judgments in the two cases she brought to around $90 million. He began with an attack on what he said was a new “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax, and promised he had not “spoken to anybody from Russia in years.”
Aaron Rupar of Public Notice recorded what amounted to close to an hour of attacks on the American Justice Department and the laws of the country, and also on American women (he not only attacked Carroll, he brought up others of the roughly two dozen women who have accused him of sexual assault). He attempted to retry the Carroll case in the media, refuting the evidence the jury considered and suggesting that the photo of him and Carroll together was generated by AI, although it was published in 2019.
Attacking women was an interesting decision in light of the fact that he will need the votes of suburban women if he is to make up the ground he has lost to Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and vice presidential nominee Tim Walz.
For her part, former representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) appears to see this moment for what it is. Although a staunch Republican herself, she is urging conservative women to admit they’ve had enough. Referring to both Trump and Vance in a conversation sponsored by the Texas Tribune, she said: “This is my diplomatic way of saying it: They’re misogynistic pigs.” She assured listeners, quite accurately, that Trump “is not a conservative.” “Women around this country…we’ve had enough.” “These are not people that we can entrust with power again.”
Her father, former vice president Dick Cheney, agreed that Trump “can never be trusted with power again” and announced today that he will be voting for Harris. “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris,” he said. Eighty-eight business leaders also endorsed Harris today, including James Murdoch, an heir to the Murdoch family media empire. Citing Harris’s “policies that support the rule of law, stability, and a sound business environment,” they said in a public letter, “the best way to support the continued strength, security, and reliability of our democracy and economy” is by electing Harris president.
Meanwhile, at his event with Sean Hannity of the Fox News Channel yesterday, Trump embraced the key element of Project 2025 that calls for a dictatorial leader to take over the U.S. That document maintains that “personnel is policy” and that the way to achieve all that the Christian nationalists want is to fire the nonpartisan civil servants currently in place and put their own people into office. Trump has tried hard to distance himself from Project 2025, but last night he said the way to run the government is to “get the right people. You put the right person and the right group of people at the heads of these massive agencies, you’re going to have tremendous success, and I know now the people, and I know them better than anybody would know them.”
One of those people appears to be X owner Elon Musk, whom Trump has promised to put at the head of an “efficiency” commission to audit the U.S. government.
In 1858, Abraham Lincoln, then a candidate for the Senate, warned that the arguments against democracy and in favor of a few people dominating the rest were always the same. In his era, it was enslavers saying some people were better than others. But, he said, those were the same arguments “that kings have made for enslaving the people in all ages of the world…. Turn in whatever way you will—whether it come from the mouth of a King, an excuse for enslaving the people of his country, or from the mouth of men of one race as a reason for enslaving the men of another race, it is all the same old serpent.”

Turn in whatever way you will—whether it come from the mouth of a King, an excuse for enslaving the people of his country, or from the mouth of men of one race as a reason for enslaving the men of another race, it is all the same old serpent.”

ok lets start summarizing mr beast scandals. this list is mostly for me but you can add to it
public denounces that all his surprises and charity videos are rigged. active discrimination, specially racial, in giving gifts. apparently didnt even build all the infrastructures in africa he claimed to
huge figure in ghost kitchens in the usa. first time in my life a shitty burger is fatter than what the pic promises. anyways the shitty burger a lot of times comes uncooked. plus the multiple health issues that ghost kitchens present
had a registered child offender come in and appear masked using a fake name
beast games: poor planning and lost of personal belongings, starving and withholding food and medicine from participants; doing nothing to prevent a bathroom overflow that ruined participants' sleepingbags and can harm their health; asking random staff to go clean the shit without proper elements also risking they get sick; sexual harassment
feastibles: shitty food collab with one of the paul brothers, who thought it was good idea to have monster for kids, and ksi. unproper seal leads to modly cheese, one of the influencers who worked with him was doing a review and the package was moldy
same influencer showed the "work" chat that seemed like the average chud discord server, complete with racial slurs in memes. while it was an obvious set up to expose ava, for some reason media outlets focused on mr beast being into vore and thus acussing him of canibalism. he didnt even share the jokes, one being yoshi vore and the other ben shapiro vore meme.
ok i'll go search the others now

When we are talking about charity, there must exist a level of certain precaution to not let your emotional turmoil result in subpar actions. If empathy is a natural response to seeing people in pain, then it makes sense to liken it to a kneejerk response, much different from a graceful strike of a soccer player.
Very often, personal face-to-face ingroup charity is used to displace the actual efforts at improving people's conditions, and if your organization lacks political oversight or a certain analytical capacity, you might have serving the community replaced with individual help which eventually accumulates every bias and/or ends up being co-opted by some cult.
I am seeing especially egregorious horrific examples of that on Twitter right now, so I will use them to illistrate a point that is otherwise too global and deep-rooted.
In order to understand how this approach does its harm, you need to understand cause and effect, past and future.
THE CAUSE
We are talking about a clique that talks about investing in trans community by helping homeless and/or unemployed trans women by "paying their bills" for some months before they "get up on their own legs". Thankfully, it's a US based clique, so a lot of sociological studies exist to demonstrate the current situation with trans rights.
Let's investigate the causes of queer people being unemployed and/or homeless. The obvious systemic cause is trans-/homophobia, which results in people losing their capabilities immediately after leaving their parents/coming out to them (see e.g. https://doi.org/gq37kh), or otherwise follows the patterns of stigmatization, exclusion and victimization. If we address more widespread political economy of this vulnerability in the USA, topics of mental health, such as PTSD burnout, substance abuse and sexual abuse - including significantly from within queer community - emerge as vulnerability categories (https://doi.org/ggsjt6). As for how inventive abuse from within "community" is, one might refer themselves to the concepts of "hot allostatic load" and "identity abuse" (https://doi.org/ggmdcd).
Failures of t4t ethos and "community short-circuit" also have been described as sources of chronic homelessness among queer youth (https://doi.org/mpx8).
One must be especially mindful of the fact that level of education is an important - if not the most important - predictive factor of queer homelessness, effects were described in depth by Rachel M. Schmitz in the dissertation work "ON THE STREET AND ON CAMPUS".
While the effects identified the author ascribes to better socioeconomical standing of college students majorly, author both identified " experiences of homelessness" as "uniting people through a shared sense of struggle and conflict", and notably gives credit to educational endeavor of academia as vastly superior to "street experience", and studies in countries with accessible education still identify low education level with risks of anxiety and depression. (https://doi.org/mpx3) (https://doi.org/mpx4)
As Negura notes, "Ultimately, the three concepts—‘social support’, ‘social capital’ and ‘social bonds’ — are complementary. These terms are used here to understand the same reality of mutual help amongst people, from different social perspectives."
CONSEQUENCES
The most recognized effect of homelessness is anxiety and depression. Recent works identify that both of these health effects are significantly resolved through providing housing, however meta-analysis of the works being done is very complicated by poor methodology of studies: short follow-up, making it impossible to judge the homelessness outcomes, and high group heterogeneity. (https://doi.org/mpxx)
Among the outcomes of homelessness specifically in queer people, "utopian thinking" is seen, in accordance with England, 2022, "an inevitable part of community responses: to improve the present it, it is necessary to look beyond the present and to an alternative in which queerness does not only survive, but is valued, celebrated and encouraged".
To a materialist that would mean death of the community as a utopianism-free endeavor, but it is not, however, it should be noted that imperfect solutions to the crisis provide fertile soil to these cognitive failures.
Actual observations of the long-lasting effects of experienced homelessness are, indeed, lacking, but so far there's no data that homelessness and unemployment actually have significant lasting damage in the queer population, nonetheless remaining the risk factor in their duration.
One, however, important effect of escaping and avoiding homelessness is resiliency. As Cronley, 2017 notes, "Rather than understanding how youth are surviving in extremely adverse environments, research applies socially normative models of behavior to their actions such that conclusions of deviancy and marginalization are inevitable" and "youth rely on informal social networks to survive on the street and that spirituality, mental health, and creativity are associated with improved coping". Once again we are drawn to connections to education systems within this approach.
And therefore we must remember establishment of education systems during historical cases.
PAST
Expansion of educational processes has long been demonstrated to be a driver of establishing new or maintaining old hegemony.
One might remember Huguenots, who existed both in France and in Netherlands. Often, for example in Van der Lem's "Eighty Years War", Erasmus of Rotherdam is remembered to be as a reason for catholics' loss in the region - humanism, moderateness and church reforms were indeed the ideas of his. It's not easy for me to believe, considering how Netherlands were absolute leaders in amount of exterminated heretics during the 1520-1540, therefore you cannot imagine the humanism and spirit of mercantile freedom helping very much.
But comparing the historical evidence between French Huguenot fighting and Netherlands' Huguenot fighting, one stark difference is seen immediately without even examining the evidence - it's the material amount of Evidence piled up.
Netherlands of XVI century was ultimately a literature-centric country: rational argument, presented with necessary charisma and efficiency, put into the easy epistolary style allowing for open discussion - all that erased the differences between catholics and protestants.
And using this positional leveling, protestants spent 10-20 years before, well, protesting with continuous work of printing press, while catholics of Netherlands continued, thinking themselves safe, sat complacent, only satisfying the demands of the already intellectual public.
Indeed, you can not let a worldly peasant work with biology, err, theology, lest they will be mistaken and fall into the tenets of sin themselves. A good example of this "Don't give the North Korean kids iGEM distribution" was dutch translation of La Bouclier de la Foy by Nicole Grenier, which the translator prefaced with an easy explanation that you should never actually argue with heretics, the priestly class knows best.
In France, enjoying the closeness of Rome, literacy was synonymous with military industry, err, Raytheon, wait, wrong, Catholic Church.
Of course it was literacy ultimately sympathetic to the plight of the layman, and easily putting itself into their shoes - Les disputes de Guillot le porcher et de la Bergère de S. Denis en France contre Jehan Calvin prÊdicant de Genesve is exactly about the lower classes destroying Kalvin himself with facts and logic.
And, like this, simply by virtue of being able to work with higher reasoning in lower genres, you can win the Hegemony.
The ultimate victory of feminism in 1917 also answers a lot about where did soviet feminists come from - from the intermediate spaces where people of higher class can interact as equals with people of lower class, without financial or institutional power relationship between them. An example is, of course Pavlov teaching women's courses and creating a whole host of women physiologists, actual hymnasia and schools, such as in Sonya Yanovskaya case.
Masonic secret societies, where jews could freely talk to christians and nobles mingles with commoner bourgeois were this driver in bourgeois revolutions, universities drove February and October revolution, and even in the USA the connectedness to high-socioeconomic status, what is called "bridging social capital" remains a primary predictor of success of people from oppressed groups. (https://doi.org/gqmpxx)
FUTURE
As such, I cannot see a way for personal charity - bonding social capital, excising queer people from support networks and from solidarity with marginalized, destructive to both people outside of it and to attempts to build a queer community — to be excused in modern conditions.
Build new platforms to, instead of elevating select voices, sing together.

SNAPSHOT
• A product of who and where he's come from. With the face of the man who left, the work ethic and passion for music of the man who raised him, and the resilience and compassion of the woman who built his very foundation, Seonho is a survivor. He grew up poor, sometimes destitute and homeless and at best living paycheck to paycheck, and the foot of struggle and responsibility was against his neck at a young age.
• tw: brief mentions of death and illness The oldest of six with two full-blooded siblings and three half-siblings though to him there's no real distinction. The de facto head of his household since his mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's when he was seventeen the literal head of his household since he was eighteen and his mother was sent to hospice. Emanates big brother energy.
• A happy-go-lucky guy despite his circumstances. Lover of warm hugs with honey eyes that are always crinkling under the weight of a smile. Compassionate and empathetic, sometimes to a fault. Always puts himself last. Would give someone the shirt off his back if asked.
• When he's not working, he's socializing. Rarely sleeps and works himself to the point of mental burnout. Lives off adrenaline, energy bars, red bull, and nicotine. Not very good at self-care.
• Is a little too used to the grind and as a result, his life has become a bit stagnant. He lives day to day rather than for the future. Gave up on his musician dreams of pursuing after his (step)dad passed when he was fifteen. Still writes from time to time when he's inspired. Can play pretty much any instrument, and has a soft spot for jazz (and the saxophone) since it was the genre that he was first introduced to.
FULL BIOGRAPHY
tw: mentions of homelessness, illness, abandonment and death (caused by brain aneurysm)
Seonho was born in Starlight Oaks as the eldest child to Seongmin Ryu and Mina Park who moved from Korea when Mina was pregnant with Seonho after she was disowned by her parents who disapproved of Seongmin. His biological father walked out on Seonho, his mother, and two of his younger sisters when he was five years old and Seonho has always believed that they were better off without him.
After being homeless and hopping through halfway houses after the abandonment, his mother remarried three years later and had three more children with Seonho’s stepfather, Jalen Jones, who would become the only father that Seonho acknowledged in his life. Jalen adopted the three eldest children upon his marriage to Mina and they all took on his last name.
Early on in his childhood, Seonho fell in love with music thanks to Jalen’s side-gig playing the saxophone in a jazz band. He had a talented ear for music, picking up musical instruments and mastering them with an ease, and his parents encouraged his passion as best they could, ensuring that they budgeted well enough to afford sending Seonho to his music lessons.
While performing at Pike Place Market in Seattle, he was scouted by a Korean entertainment agency at the age of thirteen. However, he was still a trainee when he flew back home and prematurely ended his contract due to his stepfather dying suddenly of a ruptured brain aneurysm as a result of overworking when Seonho was fifteen. When he returned home, Seonho ran away for a short period of time, thinking that the last thing his mother needed was another mouth to feed and not knowing how to properly cope. He lived on the streets and worked part time at a gas station where he was paid under the table with food and cigarettes, developing a nicotine addiction that he has yet to quit entirely though he now uses a vape pen.
Eventually, he returned home and as the oldest child, he assumed a great deal of responsibility in the household. While he wanted to drop out of school, his mother insisted that he stay enrolled and graduate. Seonho earned money any way that he could to help keep the household afloat, mowing lawns during the summer and working manual labor in the evenings. Sometimes, he would resort to not-so-legal methods if need be. His music became all the more dear to him, filling the gaping holes in his chest that were created from his dream continually slipping through his fingers. Listening to music became a way to escape, no matter how momentarily. He could never catch a break after that.
A year before Seonho graduated from high school, his mother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s. After it came to the point that his mother could no longer properly take care of them or herself, she was admitted into a longterm care facility by order of the municipality.
At that point, Seonho was eighteen and filed for guardianship of his siblings who had been sent to foster care, which he would eventually be granted after a months' long battle with the courts. He also became the conservator of his mother’s well-being. Seonho insists that he provide for his family and ensure that each of his siblings focus on their studies, graduate from school, and are afforded opportunities that he did not have. Even if that means he has to work a slew of jobs in order to make ends meet. Even if that means he has to continually make personal sacrifices and stretch himself too thin.
CONNECTIONS
Non-playable characters of note: Mina Park-Jones (mother, in a hospice), Jalen Jones (step/adoptive father, deceased), Seongmin Ryu (biological father, absent), Sam (younger gender non-conforming sibling, age 17), Hana (younger sister, age 14), and Melody (younger sister, age 13)
Others to be announced!
WANTED CONNECTIONS
Two younger sisters with the same set of biological parents that are between the ages of twenty one and twenty five, will be posting a wanted connection later
Co-workers from any of his many jobs
People who he frequently picks up via Uber
People he annoys as he can be a Lot, very talkative and often overly friendly
Friends! A best friend, a ride-or-die, acquaintances, people he grew up with, people he is a positive influence on, etc.
Perhaps an ex or two at most, could have ended on good or bad terms.
Hookups. Seonho is more of a commitment guy as a terrible romantic, but he is indulgent from time to time as he is also a very busy man and most likely these would be one night stand situations unless he is close enough to someone to have a friend-with-benefits situation (singular) to address those needs.
Open to plotting! I am up for nearly everything.

BEFORE VOTING......SERIOUSLY think about this for a moment:
Would you....SHOULD you... hire a person with this background for an important job? Is it logical to do so?
***Involved in 4,000 lawsuits BEFORE applying for the job (that's not a misprint).
***Declared numerous bankruptcies., leaving small businesses holding the bag.
***Founder of 3 businesses declared fraudulent (a fraudulent college; a fraudulent charity; fraudulent valuation of business value and fined millions of dollars in each case).
*** Caught on tape (his own words) saying he "grabs women by the pussy" and thinks it's funny.
***Found responsible by a jury of 8 men and 4 women of groping and then defaming a woman, and continued to defame her AFTER the finding, and fined millions of dollars for doing so.
***Accused by 18 different women of varying inappropriate behavior, including allegations of sexual harassment or sexual assault (a friend of the famous Jeffrey Epstein).
***Four (4) different 3 and 4-STAR ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ GENERALS, hand-picked BY the person in question, after serving with him..... say he is completely unfit.
***Got caught calling U.S. Service members "suckers" for going into military service (confirmed by one of the Generals above).
***Got caught calling USA Prisoners of War "losers," again confirmed by a General.
***On national TV, disrespected a Gold Star mother and father (USA son killed in the line of duty) because they were Muslim.
***Completely mishandled the Covid-19 outbreak, telling American citizens it was nothing to worry about and "will go away when the weather warms up, maybe April" disregarding warnings from his own medical staff. Hundreds of thousands died, and the economy shut down across the nation.
***After being told the truth by his own staff (several times) THAT HE DID ACTUALLY LOSE an election by over 7 million votes, he continued to lie to citizens about it for years and years, despite overwhelming (VERIFIED) evidence that he DID LOSE.
***This person overspent his budget by nearly $8 TRILLION the last time he held the job, third biggest debt in USA history, after promising to balance the budget ("It will be easy," he said). The other two with higher deficits? Also from his political party.
***This person also promised to "build a wall" (for free) along a 1,954 mile border, and how many miles did he get built in 4 years? Less than 50 miles of a new wall (not a misprint). And "repaired" a few hundred miles. Oops. Oh, and nearly 1,500,000 crossed the border in the meantime. And USA taxpayers paid every dime (over $10 BILLION).
***Meanwhile, this guy continues to lie about high crime rates by border crossers....when actual verified research says that is not at all true!!! Bet you didn't know that.
***And now he's a convicted felon for fraudulent business practices to pay hush money to a prostitute in order to save his 2016 election chances.
***AND (this is unbelievable, but true): he currently has SEVEN convicted felons on his staff and serving as advisors !!!!
SHOULD YOU (or any of us) REALLY BE SUPPORTING A TERRIBLY POOR RECORD LIKE THAT BY HIRING THIS GUY?
I think we can all agree, none of us should stoop so low as to vote a person like that into the presidency. Pretty obvious that is a very questionable (and illogical) decision, isn't it?
