Once again, Kaveh and Alhaitham throw down at the House of Daena, their peers feverishly reading around them. Kaveh is exceptionally sleep-deprived and Alhaitham is exceptionally agreeable—it's noon and Kaveh is the first person to speak to him. Their debate has circled around to the evolution of language; to what degree is definition-shifting a natural and inevitable process vs a slow poisoning of the meaning of language altogether? There are strong arguments for either side. In classic in utramque partem fashion, he chooses a stance at random and goes all in.

Within five minutes, Kaveh's shoulders are shivering with rage. Nearby readers have looked up from their tomes to tune in. Alhaitham nods to the room. "Fascinatingly, none of our esteemed peers have chimed in to decry my position alongside you."

Kaveh explodes "THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE MEAN AND ATTRACTIVE! Not because you're correct!"

Eyes shift between the duo. Kaveh keeps his gaze locked on Alhaitham's, slowly turning pink. A pair of birds flits past the stained-glass windows. Birdsong follows.

Ever so slightly, Alhaitham smiles. He looks away. "True. Silence may indicate, but cannot prove, acquiesce."

Alhaitham spares his friend because he knows this is worse. Kaveh will be kicking himself for this admission all the way back to their (shared) home.

thinking about hag romance sparring 🤭 which I think is a very rare event bc god forbid astarion breaks a nail but in the off chances they do it becomes a matter of who fights more dirty bc shri’iia overpowers him in strength but he has faster reflexes and he’s very inclined to cheat. so then it becomes this fun little spar where it’s his dual daggers vs her one polearm, astarion always trying to disarm her by doing funky moves and distracting her vs shri’iia going for his shin and ankles so he trips over. then they forego the weapons and end up just rolling around the floor like kittens trying to pin each other down - which astarion does bc he has a secret third knife that he whips out and holds over her that forces her to yield and shri’iia’s like oh noooo u caught meeee. che..! whatever should I dooooo 🤭🤭😏😏 very quickly becomes foreplay and whoever was watching them spar is just like brother eughhhhh 😟😟😒😒🤢🚫🚫

🌺 Ok one for the new kid! Kasander likes animals but keeps their distance from them, on account of not trusting the Urges

6/10 on average, I think, spiking to a 10 depending on recency of the last Incident. Kasander really loves animals and is someone who talks to them a lot, and they struggle to balance that with the precautions that would keep other creatures safe. In the end it's the same way with their companions- they could easily hurt or kill one of them by mistake, but they still travel with others. They're learning themself better all the time, and they hope that will help them have a better sense of when it's about to take them and they need to get away. They withdraw much more completely when something has gone wrong recently though. It's hard to maintain that optimism when the strategy has just failed.

Strohl likes old German folk music. He idly listens to it when at his estate.

His preferred method of exercise is trail biking, but he trains in Krav Maga and Boxing. Strohl listens to podcasts quite often.

He has a tendency to grab people's devices when they are low in power and idly charge them. He won't do it if asked, though. He's surprisingly petulant.

Karl first name means free man, but his surname refers to farmers with a poor crop. Free you are, but how free?

Strohl gets sparky when emotional. You can hear the crackles! When angry, he tends to look as stone faced as usual, so it's hard to tell. He will let people know how he feels about them by giving them an electrified handshake before he leaves.

Strohl is 37. Now that he is older in such a dangerous occupation, he has a pointed interest in his health, often trying different concoctions and enhancers to keep him in shape. He refuses to quit his monthly smoke and nightly drink, though.

His eyes aren't red because of some special ability. They are just *extremely* bloodshot.

They have not, however, relocated the jankass box made out of roughly hacked apart pieces of cardboard glued together that’s always sitting in the middle of the class library and bursting with their dirty fake money nor seem to have any intention to make ‘the mafia’ more secure
