Just because Casey wrote fanfiction doesn't mean their novel is based on a fanfiction, though you can tell they did just due to the types of tropes they use. But also if you listen to literally anything they say about the writing process of rwrb especially with how they were affected by the election and all of their influences at the time (none of which are even remotely related to the social network lol), it seems pretty clear to me this wasn't based on a fanfiction.

Idk maybe I'm wrong but not once have I seen any conclusive evidence that this is the case other than people saying that one is American and one is British and that Casey was in the fandom. Like did y'all ever think that maybe they just... Like certain character tropes lol. y'all starting to get a little too weird with this theory esp with comments about casting the sn actors to play the parts

Said this earlier too but also just tired of the fact that people make this claim or something similar every time they find out someone is a fanfiction author. Like some of us keep that shit very separate.
