We know that Gregor covered his ears and buried his face into Ares' fur right before Henry hit the bottom of the canyon. But... Ares didn't get to do that. Ares probably heard Henry hit the bottom. Heard every bone in his bond snap. His last heartbeat if the flier's hearing is good enough. Seeing it all through echolocation. How awful that must've been. Poor Ares.
I think about that often.
