i don't even like video games so why have i been playing Red Dead 2 for the past eight hours gay

the first chapter of lover boy is really intense on an emotional level because So Many Things happen in quick succession it's like beau barely gets a chance to breathe and process it. meanwhile RR opening chapter is just felix and dorothy arguing in a laundromat.

#i used to have a problem with the lover boy first chapter bc i was like #i know what needs to happen thematically and i know the main plot beat that needs to happen to push it forward #but i didnt have any actual like. action to move to story to that place #in a way that had a causal chain #and now im like um!!!! is too much happening #anyway my other writing problem i realised via this chapter is i worry sooo much about the idea of coincidences #like the idea of just 'letting' something happen...in lb mainly two characters being in the same place at the same time #im like there has to be an intricate explanation for all of this which like yeah thats good to think about #but i also think coincidences are an important part of plot bc first of all coincidences happen #but its also not just the coincidence its the decisions the character s made that got them to that time and place #why they made those decisions and what they do afterwards etc....#anyway! i dont know where i was going with that #RR chapter one.....ngl....its SOOO bad lol #like structurally. the prose is fine #but its been 3 years and 5 different opening scenes for that novel and NONE of them hit #but that's a problem for future me #the thing is most of my ideas now come with an opening but RR never came with an opening just the concept #because the rest of the novel slayyyyys #actually i think out of all 3 my favourite atm is the third book LOL #update literally 10 minutes after writing these tags i have an idea for a new RR opening team that i want to sink my teeth into #6th time's a charm!

#is it normal to be so excited about a book you havent even read today that you feel sick #every time i think about moby dick i get so excited that i feel anxious and nauseous this is not normal what is this book doing to me #anyway moby dick rambles about many chapters ago #its great the way ahab just drops his pipe into the sea when its not hitting the same anymore. i get you man #and the way he didnt leave his cabin for many days apon shipping #hes depressed and insane i love you ahab #i love starbuck as a kind of foil to ahab #ahab is so passionate about hating the whale and sees no issue in it while starbuck could not careless about the whale and seems to be #the only person on board who understands whales do not infact have it out for you and are not capable of human emotion like that #the “god save us all” was so real from him #and ahab wants to get starbuck on board so bad i laughed so hard at the aside when hes first ranting about the whale #its very good

hey im glad to hear someone likes and misses my fanart! monster is still one of my favorite pieces of media ever, but right now im just trying to focus on more silly self indulgent art to fight art block so im not planning to revisit it for now

Wow I have not.been making text posts. Uhmmmm OK 3 personal anecdotes from the past 2 days aka the interesting things that have happened to me:

1. So yesterday I woke up at like 2 am from what I Thought was a dream with my heart fucking RACING. Bc in What I Thought Was My Dream there was a very, VERY loud noise and it scared the shit out of me. Nothing else happened, I calmed down, went back to sleep. But in the morning, I went to the bathroom and found. . what do you know.. the big cat carrier on the floor. Which means one of my cats (*cough* tally *cough*) knocked it down from storage, which would've made a HUGE noise, so I connected the dots. Then she pooped on the floor about it and got it on herself. Stinky girl.

2. Cut my finger on a scale 😔 and it's uh actually kind of deep? Doesn't rly hurt much but that's also not a great thing for deep cuts. Oh well.

3. In the night it was raining and I got up and heard water and had a moment of ".....that IS rain, right?" What a life I live where I hear falling water and am unsure of whether it is rain or if my ceiling is actively leaking for what would be the Fourth Time...

#speculation nation #these would be 3 different text posts but i was very sleepy yesterday and went right to bed #so here.have these anecdotes about my days all in one.#yesterday really wasnt too bad. work was busy but i got thru it #for it being the 28th my luck was actually pretty okay #maybe the really loud noise scaring the shit outta me and the finger cut were my penance #the fanart thing made me SO excited and enthusiastic i just HAD to show my coworker #(the ninja turtles fanfic writer one bc They Understand)#hfkshfj im.just very excited about it. and it brightened my whole day yesterday.#printed out a copy of it to put in my room...🥺 bc i wanna look at it Always #and uhmmm. well i sure am getting a ton of hits on itnl bc of it hfkshfjd i keep looking back and Waow #it's at like... hundreds more than it was yesterday morning. i wanna say almost a thousand #but i didnt think to take a screenshot so i dont know for sure. a lot tho.#active encouragement for me to get the next chapter done... i plan to work on it as much as possible today 💪

got back from the lake last night

it was a ton of fun and we spent most of it zooted out of our minds. but it also really hit me how much has changed in the last 8+ years. seeing a bunch of people that I hadnt seen since my teens or early 20s. it strangely put a lot of things into perspective for me, especially considering I feel like I lost time due to the pandemic.

all in all, a lot of relaxing and chatting and eating good food!

#[static]#realizing 'hey your closest friend leaving at 22 did impact you a lot' as a 29 year old put stuff into perspective for me #i usually just push through harder events and dont give myself time to process them fully since i spent the first 25 years of my life #in survival mode ... so didnt always get a chance to process things fully #in the last year or two i feel like ive finally gotten a chance to start processing Events in my life #but realizing 'oh we were Young and it wasn't just three years ago when you left' and almost a whole decade has gone by #ive done a lot in that decade but it definitely hit me How long it's been since things were back in the Before times #and me realizing that i consider my friend's departure from the country the end of an era #like i use it as a bookmark - as a big event - that marks the turning of a chapter or the passage of time #i think everyone does this with big life events but i never really let myself process how sad i was when they left because ive mostly #just been happy for them since it's opened up so many incredible life experiences and such for them!#anyways its never too late to process events LMAO #but all in all it was a super fun time and being high for an entire weekend gave me a chance to relax and unpack some mental shit
