Hol horse finally overcoming his issue with not being able to be the emperor he was supposed to be when women are in danger is something I always think about.

Up until this point he was always no.2, always thinking for himself and how to keep himself out of things, how to avoid getting caught up in something he couldn't handle himself, always acting on thought, on fear, and on an anxiety that he would never live up to the title he chose and the man he worked under

But the moment he sees DIO's victims, all of that goes away. he acts purely on instinct and heart. He didn't understand why he did it then, but he came to realize that was him being an emperor, in his definitions; An emperor doesn't go with the flow or bow down to what other people want, an emperor only follows his heart. He's the Lord of his own soul. I think that him realizing that is finally hol horse being able to break away from the grip dio had on his psyche even after his death.

He was steady, he was calm, he had one goal in mind; saving those women. He didn't think when he acted, he simply acted.

Hol horse had always been the emperor he needed himself to be, and is finally able to realize that.

I've always thought of Dio as a villain that, while I understood he was powerful and charismatic, I never really understood why characters were so afraid of him.

Recently I read Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak and...

I get it now.

The pressure of his presence, freezing you in place by the sheer thought that all your machinations are laid bare.
