For now, here is the plan for the next few chapters of LoopJuice and the start of DeadBug/CorpseJuice! (Subject to change due to inspiration, lack of time/energy etc)
- Chapter 8 of Time’s Arrow, “October passed me by just like any month”! It is fun and centers around Halloween and Beetlejuice’s birthday. (Also the aftermath of the last chapter…)
- Chapter 9 of Time’s Arrow, possibly titled “I am selfish, I am broken, I am cruel, I am all the things they might have said to you”
- Then, “You and I Will Always Be Back Then”, the standalone bad ending AU to LoopJuice!
- Then, perhaps, the first chapter of DeadBug/CorpseJuice, maybe titled “Your body may be gone, I'm gonna carry you in, In my head, in my heart, in my soul” !
- Then Chapter 10 of Time’s Arrow, which does not yet have a title! Oooo, it’s a POV pivot back to Lydia!
Then whatever order I feel inspired/energized enough to write them in after that, through to the end of Time’s Arrow!

Trying to decide what I want to work on right now and so to procrastinate I thought it'd be fun to share my current WIPs with you all (omg how did I get so manyyyyy)
Feel free to shout encouragement at me if there's any that particularly pique your interest! :P
Anyway, in order of how recently I've worked on them:
1. Prompt - what if Kukulaka got broken and Garak repaired him?
Coming soon? 80% it'll be done in the next week: I'm hoping to just bash it out at some point, but even though it's short and self-contained, it's hardddd...
2. Unexpected Chapter 2 of Imprisoned. Absolute Sloanshir rot: Sloan provides Julian with more "help", Julian gets increasingly confused/grateful/flustered/fucked
Coming soon? Almost 100% you're gonna see it next week - I am hype and should should should get to the end once I have an evening to myself ;)
3. Prompt - "I don't trust myself to be good to myself right now, but I need someone to be good to me." Conversations between Miles and Julian at various points in the series when they've hit rock bottom and need pulling out.
Coming soon? No... I've written one post-DBIP scene but I'd at least want the post-Argrathi scene and the rest of the DBIP stuff to be done before I put anything up, if not the whole thing... It's definitely a long fic I'll be returning to in fits and bursts. (sorry, prompter...)
4. Prompt - Garak and Julian's first conversation post-IPS/BIL.
Coming soon? It's a strong contender for next week - I was super hype for it when I started but then work interceded and I just haven't got back to it yet. It is a priority, though!
5. Pre-DBIP: a few moments where Julian's unspoken issues with his parents cause friction for him but go unnoticed by his friends. Post-DBIP a similar moment happens and is recognised for what it is. Featuring Julian + beets.
Coming soon? I really don't know. I've got a strong vision for it and scene one (of four) is done, but it's kind of stuttered since then.
6. Julian starts to neglect his self-care, leading to him passing out in the infirmary. Sisko would like to know what the hell happened.
Coming soon? It's already on tumblr in a rough and ready form, so editing to put on AO3 might well happen in the next week - and I'd say a 50% chance of something extra with that?
7. Chapter 2 of At Their Mercy. Alpha!Garak takes over with Omega!Julian where Kira left off... 😉😉😉
Coming soon? Gahhh, I have written this several times over in my brain, but getting the start of this chapter has been proving difficult. Definitely not until after the Imprisoned chapter is done.
8. Why Leeta Kept Kukulaka And How Julian Did Try To Ask For Him Back. Just cute, fluffy gap-filling; I love both of them.
Coming soon? Probably not. Only the outline has been written tbh and this hasn't caught my fancy in a while.
9. "Acts of God": A runabout crashes on a planet where medical intervention is outlawed. Unable to help his injured friends and forbidden from alleviating the suffering he sees around him, Julian has a very bad time...
Coming soon? No, I think this is probably going to be an after-VIsion-Awry project rather than a can-i-get-it-done-first one.
10. "Sloan's planet": Sloan is Julian's s31 handler, sending him out on all sorts of missions... but the missions are fake, Sloan using the holosuite to manipulate Julian pretty much any way he wants...
Coming soon? Possibly. This has more of a series vibe maybe with a few distinct one-shots, so if I get a short idea I might bash it out 🤷‍♀️ Sloanshir's often just so easy to fall into.. 🤣
11. Keiko + Molly + Julian + drawing post-DBIP. Julian's not very good at it, and it's a bit feels but a lot of fluff.
Coming soon? Well I haven't touched it since April but I do smile whenever I remember it exists (and looking at the file, more was written than I remember!)
Welp - and that's not even counting the myriad other ideas floating around my tumblr/ in my head! Or the fact that I have probably another 15-20k of Vision Awry to go... Well, here's looking forward to my August of writing!
(Which I'll definitely have... if I stop procrastinating! :P)

Tumblr media
This sexual encounter between you and Hunter had been so much more intense than ever before, even if it was a bit rushed. But even more uncomfortable you felt about the fact, that this togetherness could not end properly, your orgasm had just barely ended, as you've been disturbed.
At first, you feel a little uncomfortable looking at Echo, you are sure that when he was looking for Hunter, just before he said something to you, he must have heard something, maybe even seen something.
You know Echo is not a peeping Tom, he is of the decent sort, but to approach Hunter about this important matter, he must have been nearby, waiting.
Your eyes meet briefly, and an annoying little voice in the back of your head tells you that Echo knows Hunter's sperm is dripping into your panties.
You hope you get time to wash up and put on some fresh clothes as soon as possible.
Hunter turns to you and says, to your relief, "Hey, um, why don't you go freshen up. It's just a bunch of locals, mostly farmers on their way here, nothing exciting."
You try not to let on how damn relieved you are and slip into the refresher. To your surprise, Hunter has clean clothes ready. He hasn't disposed of your stuff, even after two years; he's kept everything.
You smile in satisfaction as you step into the shower.
Tumblr media
As you come out of the refresher, you hear Hunter talking to someone. You pause and listen. "Since the Empire rose, you've practically been on your own, on the run?" You know that voice, at first you can't immediately place it, but you know it, clearly. You hear Hunter grumble, then he answers, "More or less, yes. Are you hiding from the Empire here, too?" "Pretty much, yeah. This planet doesn't offer much except farmland, there's no mineral resources, nothing to mine or exploit, that's why the Empire isn't interested in us so far. It's a very simple life, a quiet one, but also a free and peaceful one" "Doesn't sound so bad," Wrecker notes. You cautiously approach the voices, carefully pushing past Wrecker and finally standing next to Hunter. When you see the face to the voice, you realize why it sounded familiar. At first Hunter's counterpart looks flabbergasted, then he smiles broadly and when he says your name, everyone perks up, and you feel Hunter tense a little beside you. "Damn, I didn't think you'd ever leave this dead, dry planet alive," the man standing in front of you says to you.
He has a slight shadow of a beard, intense blue eyes, amber hair, he is well-built, large strong hands, the hands of a laborer, rough and calloused. He is about Hunter's height, maybe an inch or two taller, but hardly remarkably taller. His face was still as perfect as ever, except for the shadow of his beard and a smudge of dirt on his right cheek. His cheekbones high but not too high, broad strong chin, eyes the perfect angle and distance apart. Strong but straight even nose, thick full hair. Not to forget the perfectly matching voice, deep, very slightly gravelly but gentle. "Kenjam Dennolli," you say with a sigh. "You know each other?" asks Hunter cautiously. Dennolli laughs and says, "You could say that." "He's my ex-boyfriend," you say, rolling your eyes.
Hunter next to you tenses. "Meaning, we know each other very well. Theoretically, we never broke up," Dennolli says, laughing.
You look at the man with the goggles.
"Of all the damn planets we could have ended up on, it had to be this one," you grumble in Tech's direction. Tech looks up indignantly from his holopad and says, "This is a moon. You act like this is my fault." Dennolli laughs again, "Still temperamental and argumentative I see." You glare at him angrily and say, "Breaking up wasn't necessary, Ken, because you just ran off the planet and I had no way of following you."
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Echo wave the others along, leaving you and Hunter alone with Ken. Echo was always reliable when it came to getting some privacy, most of the time. Ken looks at you, not quite as amused as before, as he says, "I didn't go willingly, you know the Hutts were after me. I had to take the first chance I got, and taking you with me would have put you on Jabba's hit list as well." "Excuses," you growl softly, automatically standing closer to Hunter, as if some part of you is subconsciously seeking mental, emotional protection from him. Hunter senses that you're seeking his closeness, more or less half-hiding behind him, your behavior suggesting that you're still hurt and don't really want to work through this situation right now. He is not sure if he is relieved or worried. Even a blind man can see that Kenjam Dennolli is handsome and charismatic, Hunter thinks silently, annoyed.
Ken sighs and says quietly to you, "You know that's not true, that's not an excuse. And I've missed you a lot" "That was almost five years ago, Ken, I've been over it for a long time".
Ken says softly, "I'm happy for you, really, it's good you were able to move forward, I couldn't."
Hunter at your side becomes even more tense, you even see a vein on his neck. Was he jealous? You've never seen Hunter jealous before, not that you know of. Something is bubbling under his surface, you feel it clearly in the Force, something intense, it feels almost sharp, as if you could cut yourself on it if you got too close to him at the moment. And yet, you draw closer.
"Like I said," you say coolly, leaning meaningfully against Hunter's shoulder, "I've been over this a long time."
Ken blinks, then smiles humorlessly and says, "I understand. You two are therefore-"
"Indeed," Hunter grumbles.
Ken, clearly sensing Hunter's tension, laughs softly and nods.
"Okay, that's nice for you guys. Getting together for old times' sake tonight is probably a no-go then."
Hunter says coolly, "Certainly," and crosses his arms in front of his chest.
There is a small, awkward pause in which no one says anything, the two men look at each other, scrutinize and assess. You sense melancholy and an old longing, in Ken, like sweet, heavy wine. Hunter exudes sharpness and hardness, also a small bitter undertone of fear.
Again, your ex nods and finally says, "Okay, I think I overstayed my welcome for today. I'll better head back to work anyway. It was good to see you again."
You don't really know what to say to that, feeling a little uncomfortable in your own skin, so you keep quiet and watch Ken walk away. Finally, Hunter stirs beside you.
"Your ex, huh? Good-looking fellow," he growls.
You raise your eyebrows questioningly and look at him.
"Yeah, so? Did you expect me to be hanging out with ugly men before I started dating you?"
Hunter rolls his eyes, sighs softly, but finally looks at you, with a calm, gentle expression.
"No, it just feels weird"
"What do you mean?"
Hunter shrugs cautiously and explains, "We just got back together after being apart for a long time. It's all still fresh and suddenly this striking, handsome guy shows up. That's when a man in my situation feels a little pressured."
"Why?" you ask curiously.
Hunter steps closer, grabs your hands, plays with your fingers and says, "Imagine it the other way around. A gorgeous woman suddenly shows up here, and you're confronted with the fact that she's my ex and still interested in me."
You frown unwillingly. You don't like the idea at all.
"Do you have an ex like that?" you ask cautiously.
Hunter laughs and says, "No, but that's not the point. Just imagine it for a minute, and you'll understand how it feels to me right now."
You sigh softly, of course you can understand, but Hunter has no reason to worry, certainly not about Kenjam Dennolli.
You release your hands from his and wrap your arms around his shoulders, gently kissing along his jaw to his ear and finally whisper, "You can be absolutely sure that my heart, body and soul are yours alone, Hunter."
You feel Hunter shiver softly and shortly thereafter close his arms tightly around you.

[Itachi Uchiha X Reader] First Snow {Prologue}
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12
Pairing: Itachi Uchiha x fem!Reader
Note: Oh man, I just had this spark of inspiration and oh well... *sighs* So I'm planning to make this one a multi-chapter, it's been long since I've written one so I miss the thrill :DD It's really angsty to begin with, and it's also... rough, but don't worry, I always end with a happy ending :D For this series, it's a non-massacre AU. There is a mention of drugging (not anything feral, though) so read at your consent. Also, I have no other choice but to make Izumi the bad guy here :'), for the sake of the plot. Enjoy reading, let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
You were married to the love of your life. But were you happy? No.
Being the legally wedded wife of Itachi Uchiha and the prestigious daughter-in-law of Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha, everything you had ever experienced was the cold shoulder that your husband gave you every day and the sleepless nights that you could no longer keep count of. You were taken under his roof as a means to strengthen the Uchiha clan. You were born here and lived in the neighborhood for roughly six years, then you moved with your parents to the north for settlement. Now that your parents passed away in the most recent conflict at the border, you took your branch of Uchiha back to reunite with the main house. Fugaku and Mikoto gladly took you under their wings and even set you up with their eldest son and the future heir of the clan—who happened to be your childhood crush.
After you joined forces with the main house, the elders advised you to get engaged with Itachi as soon as possible. You were obviously nervous and thrilled, shifting back and forth on your futon for the entirety of the meeting. However, your future husband showed no sign of approval. Instead, a deep frown drew itself across his thin lips. You could not help but steal glances at him, trying to figure out what was going on inside his mind. You were not always exceptionally keen on reading people, yet, you could clearly see that the expression Itachi displayed was far less than a pleasurable one.
You dwelled on the elders’ words after the meeting with uncertainty and ambivalence. In the end, you resorted to seeking some advice from Fugaku and Mikoto, they were the ones who were closest to you after all. Fugaku immediately claimed that your marriage was the best thing that could ever happen and Mikoto urged you with grace. Both of them were very supportive and were in full approval. Yet, the greatest obstacle that you were facing was no one else but your soon-to-be husband, Itachi.
You knew Itachi was an excellent man that literally excelled in every area that he had his mind on. A man like him naturally attracted attention and affection from everyone—you knew this by heart. Yet, he remained loyal to the one and only Izumi Uchiha. You knew that you had nothing in comparison to her, from your appearance to your skills, your personality to your upbringing—you also knew this by heart.
You were ready to turn down the offer from Itachi’s parents after you saw the two walking around hand in hand. After all, love was only worth cherishing if both parties walk in the same direction. Itachi deserved to be happy and if you could sacrifice your unrequited love for his bright future with Izumi, you would. You were the one who stepped into their picture, all in all.
That evening, the Uchiha clan was hosting a banquette to celebrate their Twentieth Year Anniversary under Fugaku’s lead. You planned to bring the topic up to the elders first thing tomorrow morning, you must end this strain as soon as possible. However, the unexpected happened.
While you were sitting alone at a bench, still unfamiliar with most of the people present at the banquette and feeling like the odd one out, Izumi suddenly approached you with an affable smile. You were grateful that she came and talked to you to get you out of the solemn mood you put on earlier. Izumi seemed like a great person, you figured, it was probably why Itachi fell in love with her.
You felt a bit down at the thought and she noticed, handing you a glass of champagne, “Come on, have some fun!”
You reached out to take the stem of the glass and sipped on it timidly, embarrassed that you just exhibited such an unfriendly manner. Fortunately, Izumi did not mind your pessimism at all, she offered you a hand and introduced you to the people your age. Slowly, you were able to open up to most of them with her help, you relaxed a bit and immersed yourself into the festive atmosphere of the banquette, completely letting your guard down.
After a while and everyone was about to leave the place, Izumi pulled you aside, “Hey, Y/N, do you mind helping me to fetch something? I suddenly have a stomachache and my family is leaving in no time!”
Her voice was laced with panic as she hugged her lower abdomen in pain, you replied instantly though a bit lightheaded yourself, “What do you want me to get you?”
"Itachi, Shisui, and I met in the morning to go over some documents on the second floor, the first room on your right when you come up,” she panted, “I forgot my materials there, it’s a blue folder on the desk. I need to submit it to the Council tomorrow, but—”
“No problem!” You moved on your feet, “I’ll get it for you, do you need me to take you to the bathroom? You seem very pale!”
“No, I’m fine,” she denied, “please hurry up! Thank you so much, Y/N!”
You nodded and dashed up the flight of stairs. When you were out of sight, Izumi stood up straight and a smirk appeared on her red lips. She, herself, trailed after you to witness the fun she prepared.
The hallway on the second floor was pitch-black, making it hard for you to move around without bumping into the furniture. You tried to find the light switch, switching it on and off a few times, but the light bulbs seemed to have died out. Somehow, you could not activate your Sharingan, you thought it was probably due to the alcohol you consumed earlier, for you were always a light drinker. You were also in no condition to activate it after you almost lost your sight for overusing the kekke genkai in the previous encounters back in the north either. You sighed, making your way to the two opposite rows of doors along the hallway. Luckily, you needed to enter the first one on the right, if it was somewhere at the end of the hall, you did not know how you would navigate through.
You turned the doorknob and walked in, unfortunately, the lights inside the room were out. However, by the natural illumination of the moon hanging outside the big window, you were able to see the outlines of the bed, some chairs, and the desk. At that moment, you did not notice that the room temperature was inexplicably warm and a luring scent filled the air. Until your body was slammed down on the mattress by two forceful hands, you realized that this was a trap. You felt heat surging through every cell of your body, but it was too late.

Untitled Feralnette Fic Ch. 1
Hiya there anyone who happens upon this first chapter of this fic. I would like to start out by saying that this is my first fanfic ever. I've been wanting to write a fic for the miraculous fandom for a while but I haven't had any inspiration until I stumbled upon this glorious AU created by @bigfatbreak. I highly suggest checking out all of their posts about this au because they are hilarious and genius and about 100 other amazing adjectives that could be used to describe them and their posts. Anyways enough with my rant and let's get on with the fic. ⚠️Slight angst⚠️ ⚠️Swearing⚠️
--------
When Marinette got home after her and Luka's breakup, all she could do was cry. She wanted to be with him, but her Ladybug duties came first. If lying is a deal breaker for him, then maybe it was best that they ended it now while their relationship was still in its early stages. Still, she couldn't help but feel the loss of her first relationship. She ended up crying for a whole entire day. She just hoped that Hawkmoth(or Shadowmoth or whatever the fuck he wanted to be referred to as this week) wasn't feeling particularly akuma-y today, because she didn't know if she could bottle up all these feelings, even though the world is relying on her ability to do so.
Ugggghhh!! It has been exhausting having to be "happy and perfect Marinette" and "happy and perfect Ladybug" All. The. Time. She's also pretty sure that Hawkmoth had discovered the similarities in her personality as Marinette to Ladybug, and that's why she's been targeted by multiple akumas lately. She has had to have her emotions under control even more than usual. If only there was a way to get Hawkmoth to stop targeting her. Maybe she should just not give a fuck anymore. Haha as if! It couldn't be that easy! Could it?
The more she thinks about it the more it starts to make sense. If she just let herself go completely crazy as Marinette, she would be killing like 10 birds with one stone. She would get hawkmoth off of her trail, she wouldn't have to deal with having to hide her emotions all of the time, she wouldn't have to deal with the added stress of maintaining her perfect persona, she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of Lila's lies taking her friends away if she didn't have friends in the first place, and so much more stress would be taken off of her plate! It was perfect! It might hurt a little at first, but it's for the best in the end. She spent that night planning out her outfit for tomorrow, doing her homework, and going to sleep knowing that, in the morning, François Dupont isn't gonna know what hit them.
....
Adrien Agreste had been having a rough week. He had been abandoned on patrol by ladybug, been broken up with by his girlfriend, and was feeling completely and utterly alone. He knows that his lady has been feeling overwhelmed by her guardian duties lately, and that he 100% deserved that verbal lasting that kagami had given him but he couldn't help but feel this way. He was also feeling guilty about lying to kagami and leading her on for so long. After she broke up with him he took some time to assess his feelings for her and realized that he had more of an admiration for her than an infatuation. He definitely didn't feel the same way about her that she felt about him. She told him that she LOVED HIM, and he was so distracted (blinded) by ladybug that he didn't even process her confession. So, he was looking forward to Sunday morning. He cleared his schedule and on that beautiful Sunday morning, he did what he is only allowed to do on very rare occasions: sleep in. Or at least... thats what he had planned on doing.
When Nathalie had knocked on his door that morning Adrien was not in a good mood. He vaguely heard her say something about father wanting him downstairs in some amount of time for something involving a business partners child and some other robotic sounding words that his half asleep brain couldn't process completely.
"I have a cleared schedule this morning, Nathalie. What could father possibly want me for that is more important than my precious sleep?" He asked snappily.
"Your father wants you downstairs to welcome the new guest that will be living in the house for the rest of the school year. You have 15 minutes to make yourself look presentable and I suggest leaving the attitude upstairs," she half informed/half reprimanded him. As she walked away, Adrien reluctantly rose from his nice warm bed and went to go get ready with only one thought racing through his mind: Who could possibly be staying with them?
....
Felix Culpa was not looking forward to living at the Agreste mansion for the rest of the school year, but for their parents' sake they would do what they had to. It wasn't all for their parents either, they were also concerned about the strange "dissapearance" of Emilie (who was his aunt in all ways except blood relation) and about the treatment of Adrien since said "disappearance".
You see, Felix Culpa is the heir to the Culpa Fabric Empire. The Culpas have been the sole fabric supplier of the Agreste brand since the very beginning. Felix's mom Diana was best friends with Emilie since their college days. Diana and Emilie made the deal with the two brands because as best friends who are both involved in the same industry, it just made sense to have a business relationship with each other. Diana never really cared for Gabriel as a person, but she could tell that he loved Emilie more than anyone else in the world so she could tolerate him for the sake of her best friend.
When Emilie went missing, Diana was absolutely devastated and tried anything she could to find her. She invested in missing person ads as large as billboards, organized search teams, tried to aid the police in their search for her in any way she could, but there was no leads, no legitimate calls to the number on the billboards, and the search team came up empty handed. While she was doing all of this to try to find her, she couldn't help but be furious over the fact that Gabriel was doing nothing to help in the search. All he did was hole himself up in his oversized mansion and call it a day.
The last straw for Diana was when Gabriel tried to use the "grieving my wife" excuse to try to abuse their business arrangement. That day, she told him that the Culpa brand would no longer be associated with the Agreste brand and that after the new collection is released, he would need to find a new fabric supplier. She knew that the Agreste brand would take a huge hit from having sub-par fabric, but she never thought that Gabriel would try to make up for that fact by using Adrien as a walking mannequin and locking him up in the desolate prison that he calls a home. As soon as she realized that he was doing this she scrambled to find a solution.
That is how Felix ended up here, standing in front of the mansion they would be living in for the next 9 months in exchange for Gabriel getting back into the Culpa brand's good graces. Don't get them wrong, they were excited about being able to be in Paris, home of the most innovative fashion pieces in the world, and about being able to see their honorary cousin Adrien (who wasn't half bad to be around despite him having no backbone whatsoever when it came to anything involving his father) but dealing with Mr. Agreste was definitely one of the low points of this arrangement.
They decided to just get it over with and knocked on the door. It was opened by the man that their cousin affectionately referred to as Gorilla. They nodded a thank you to the man, remembering that he was a man of few words, and proceeded to the bottom of the staircase. Mr. Agreste stood at the top with a very tired looking Adrien a few steps down. Felix wasn't even slightly surprised that this is where he chooses to welcome his guests, looking down on people must give him some sort of power trip or something. It's almost as if he heard the phrase "It's over, Anakin, I have the high ground," and made that his own personal motto. Whatever, let him have the feeling of false power if he wanted it, Felix knows that they have all the power in this situation and they're sure that Gabriel knows it as well.
"Hello Felix," Mr. Agreste greeted them with the same amount of warmth in his voice as liquid nitrogen, "while you are staying in this house you will abide by my rules. Adrien will inform you of them and show you to your room. You will attend school with him in the morning and I'm sure that you already know that you must represent not only the Culpa brand, but also the Agreste as well. I will be in my office working, do not disturb me. Contact Nathalie with any questions that cannot be answered by Adrien." He finished his spiel and left to what Felix assumed was his office space.
"Hello Felix!" Adrien greeted him with as much enthusiasm as he could muster in his sleepy state. "Come with me and I'll show you to your room."
Adrien led Felix to their room and listed all of the rules of the household that they were expected to follow. And... wow. Felix could not believe that their cousin had to live like this. The only social interaction this kid gets is at school and fencing? Pre-approved outings only with people determined socially acceptable by Gabriel? And if he gets even one "B" he isn't even going to be allowed to go to school at all? Felix knew that the living situation was bad for Adrien but know the only question running through their head was: What did they get themselves into??
--------
And... thats it for chapter 1! Mostly background info at this point, but next chapter will be the class' reaction to feralnette and felinette meeting for the first time. I just want to say thanks again to @bigfatbreak for giving me the inspiration to write a fic for the first time ever. Feel free to leave constructive criticism, I'm always looking to improve, especially at writing since this is my first time posting anything I've written online, so I want to get better so that I can make better content for you guys, gals, and non-binary pals. If anyone wants to be tagged just let me know and I'll make a tag list for ya. :)

PAC: What are you manifesting right now + advice
Please pick the pile(s) you are most drawn to and scroll for your messages. Even the BTS photocards were shuffled out, so don’t feel like you have to select based on “this is the tae pile” or “this is the RM pile” and that there was a purpose behind (me) choosing those cards. Those are the ones that fell out. And then I shuffled the rest of the cards around who would be drawn to those cards or that pile. If that makes sense. Basically the BTS cards are like oracles.

Pile 1

I know this will sound pretty on the nose, but it feels like you’re manifesting a new chapter in life. But to get specific, there was/has been a period of time where you have felt like you were lacking in some way - whether it’s literal about finances or a sense of inferiority or negative thinking - but this phase seems to be coming to an end. Specific areas that the cards might be referring to could be about family, old friends, exes, things related to the past/childhood. What’s changing or coming in for you - whether you’re purposely manifesting this or not - is more of a confident mindset. I feel like there was some anxiety, a sense of searching for something - it could even be that you and one specific other person were also going through something together. Whether it was some friction in a relationship with a sibling or old childhood friend... it’s possible that something in that relationship could be even rekindled if you’re desiring that. But, overall, we go from a six of cups clarified by 9 of swords and a five of pentacles clarified by a 10 of swords. To this page of swords clarified by Strength and Page of Wands. To be as general as possible, that would make it seem like you might’ve been feeling lost recently in your own personal mind castle. Or, this could still be a very specific issue someone is having with a family member.
But it was bad... and now it’s getting better. Like, it was rough stuff. However, 10 of swords is ending... and what you get in return is a message, download, communication that will invoke more of a feeling of strength and will, confidence, creativity, enthusiasm, perhaps even an opportunity to travel. It could also be an example of someone who’s project or online following wasn’t doing so great or felt like it wasn’t anyway, but... you might find that something is about to turn for the better here. Uranus is specifically about technology, too, so I’ll throw that out there. Like, there’s a sense of now is the time to shine, of change, of channeling some time of learned wisdom (via hard times), that is now going to be a source of power or influence for you. I also feel like... I’m really influenced by Taehyung having fallen out as pile 1′s marker, because... this is like someone overcoming something personally challenging within their own mental space. Like, let’s say you had a hard time in life at some point, a series of bad things happened or lots of self questioning or even some fallings out with people you care about like family or old friends, or maybe something medically/physically bad happening to such people... and so stuff is hard... and you do a lot of inner searching and shadow work and questioning life and the universe, etc... and then you get to a point - how? time? therapy? who knows - and suddenly you come to this place where you’re ready to just say “fuck this i’m tired of feeling like crap so i’ll write my own story” and where it was just empty feeling in your heart space (were you feeling lonely? sad?) suddenly there’s love there and it’s bursting out like in shine or truth be told... and now you’re on this path to becoming a spiritual conduit, and HOW you do that is by sharing a truth. This can be for people who are writers or post a lot online, anything that has to do with sharing words or ideas, and those words are going to be able to influence and change others. It could even be that some person you meet is also able to inspire you and change you in some way through THEIR words. Like, say, when you have an artist you really like and their works/ideas inspire you to create your own thing or make you passionate about a subject, and then you in turn influence others in some similar way. Now, if I were to compare it to Tae so that maybe you might be able to identify with what I see here (I’m trying to keep it general as not all of us are going to become global pop stars). But, this would be a person who is eccentric, authentic, a rebel... they don’t care what other people think, they just want to follow their own path. The shine card definitely gives Leo energy (Strength is here too as a clarifier), so there is a sense of being in the spotlight - so not only is someone following their path, but it’s a path where they are meant to have attention on them or to share something or be seen. Truth be told (makes me think of truth untold to the point i sometimes get them confused) reminds me of Shine in that, there’s this gate around the heart/abdomen area and it’s opening - so I think of not just revealing a truth through words but words that come from the heart or... I would say the soul... the priest card makes me think of someone who can facilitate spiritual awakenings for others - as in whatever transformation OP went through, they can inspire similar spiritual transformations in others. Alchemist fits in with that nicely, too, since it’s about the process of changing one thing into another... so I think it’s someone who’s able to change and then change others as well - but without the direct purpose of having meant to. It’s a natural transformation and then there’s like these train chemical reactions... you get the idea... even regenerate is pretty obvious... starting anew, starting fresh, transformation...I have personally been getting the five of pentacles in almost every reading I’ve done the last few days...  when I see five of pentacles and six of cups and how they’re clarified by 9 and 10 of swords... I have this sense of having felt “trapped”. Mentally. Focused on the past, family, old friendships - but something about it was causing negativity or anxiety... and then it’s as if you’re going to receive good news... like as if whatever situation was going on is going to change... like a whole reset, and after this phase is past, something is going to emerge much stronger... it will be a change in how you think... there will be a sense of more confidence after this.... like feeling a lot better about the situation than you were. For example again, like how I mentioned I had an aunt who had an aneurysm and even though about 60% of people would die, maybe more if you take in the following few months after even if you survive, it’s like 75% so yeah I was anxious and worried about family, it was making me questional a lot of my spiritual thoughts... and then I hear that she’s doing much better, went through rehab and is going home to stay with a daughter... I don’t necessarily think she’s the Strength card though that makes sense for regenerate... but it’s like okay well she made it and all my praying or manifesting ended up “working” or helping... and so my faith is renewed, etc... so that can be another way to view this as... a mindset or a sense of faith in something or someone will be renewed, so you’re manifesting... I won’t say a miracle, but there is a sense of some type of subtle enlightenment that you are going to learn after a period of suckiness, where you were questioning others or yourself... and then something is going to happen (almost as if it’s an epiphany or vision or a story you hear or read about...) and it helps flip the switch for you...
And again (I clarified six of cups again), I think for some specific people this definitely has to do with some type of break or space you’re taking from someone in particular that would fit into the six of cups category which is as i said: old childhood or longtime friends, family, children, exes... in particular they could have said something mean (or you did) and someone felt defensive and then someone decided that they needed to take a break from this situation...  because it does feel like... there were two people and now there’s radio silence... and maybe has been for a while so yeah i’m sure some of you are wanting to manifest this relationship back into existence... and for some of you, maybe it will work out...  IF the person or situation has changed and you are able and feel like and want to re-accept said person or if you’ve changed too I guess...  even more specific, for someone I feel like this is a sister or a twin or female cousin... someone you’d be very close to in age and you’ve not heard from them in a while or fought... and so you or they are worried about them/you...  and they might kind of be in a “dire” situation or need help of some sort, financially or mentally, idk...  but in the tarot there’s a sense of someone asking or praying for help, and someone trying to listen for a message... and then six of cups points to who it seems to be about... I guess it could be an inner child thing. I mean, that is tae’s song... so it’s like your inner child is saying you aren’t listening to me or you feel neglected by someone, etc... or this is how you felt as a kid... there was always a sense of loneliness or neglect perhaps because you thought differently than others so kids in your school thought you were kinda weird or emo but you were just a bit eccentric and a loner... and you had a particularly you /aquarius way/uranus way of seeing things so... it sort of isolated you from the group because you stood out. but i guess if you felt that way i can say that the cards indicate you were given that type of way of seeing/viewing things for a reason and that reason seems to be about facilitating change in others - if say you were to become a global pop star that could influence hundreds of millions....  i do hear the word “revolutionary” and the idea of someone seeking their purpose... and then endgame is that they find it in a rather unique and sort of... in the spotlight type of way. it’s not a change from the shadows. there is a sense of having exposure to the public or online or some type of technology...  so you could be a producer or a poet or a writer or artist with a unique pov... and that “uniqueness” as much as the art is what moves others... bc in turn they would feel like they belong? and that all sprung from you not feeling like you belonged as a kid and so irony... except it’s not irony bc that’s how the universe works... in theory...  randomly some of you may have big ass eyes. i know i thought of jk as i looked at this owl, haha but i just mean probably your eyes will get opened....  i’m also oddly drawn to the idea of drugs... perhaps some of you like to experiment with drugs to “feel” things or have crazy experiences... in that case some of you may also be drawn to “extreme” things or do things to the extreme in order to elicit a certain feeling/emotion bc it makes you feel “good” or “something” and it might be more of an unhealthy habit since five of p is here and that sort of makes me think of... the devil. “lack mentality”...but i think at the basic level i can say you’re manifesting or wanting to manifest a change or transformation that would involve making you feel more or better on a spiritual level. like... feeling empty but wanting to feel full and complete. not really through material things tho maybe you thought material stuff would make you feel this thing but what you’re really in need of is a spiritual facelift... like a miracle yeah... like you’re seeking proof or something that the world isn’t shitty or that you need a reason to stick around (there’s always a reason - everyone has a purpose on this planet)...  and the final message if is you’re hoping for someone or for yourself to change as in let’s say you’re a drug addict and you feel like you won’t ever be free of it, so you’re trying to manifest proof you will or... like help for the situation....  i mean yeah ofc but the answer seems to be it’s got to come from within first, with a choice and a realization that you do have the power ok and final final is that some might be trying to manifest a certain piece of information or truth as in... something happened (like if someone left or died or something bad happened) and you never fully got answers or the truth - this is a thing you’re trying to manifest... will these things manifest? i think uranus card talks about... like things will happen but... not how you expect and it might even be a challenging experience but it’s for the betterment to elicit change. it kinda reminds me of tower but... not as destructive, it’s more like a crazy thing happens to shake you up but ALSO it’s bigger and better than you hoped though maybe you won’t see it that way initially. ...  i just see someone going from...  kinda stumbling into the dark to suddenly finding the door and when they open it, it’s so incredibly bright and beautiful on the other side that you almost immediately forget about the 20 hours you wandered in the dark.... or if there’s something that you THOUGHT was why XYZ happened... it may be more layered than you realize or it may be that the whole thing was set up to put you on a different but better path....  like a “door within a door” if that means something to anyone >.> and now i’m seeing alice in wonderland as she opens those doors and each one gets smaller and smaller and then when she finally can open one it’s to this whole new magical weird world that’s a bit scary and has drugs in it lol. i feel the drug message pretty strongly idk who that’s for... and i don’t mean just dope, i mean like... some hard stuff with the intent of wanting to feel things and have psychedelic experiences... or prescription stuff... but no i see more like weird club drugs....  idk but instead of going ur manifesting drugs wtfff lol like i think it’s more an out of body experience or something HUGE that you want to happen that would make you feel like really strong emotions - whether that’s really drugs or a reunion or a special event/miracle thing... something so magical it would change you or your life or how you see things.... like meeting your idol haha.... winning the lottery... getting your dream job... or it could be that you aren’t consciously manifesting that feeling but rather the thing you are trying to manifest will give you that type of feeling and that feeling will be even bigger than what you anticipated and you already thought it would be pretty good... it could be that a long lost friend or even a soulmate you’ve been trying to call to will eventually appear and they’ll be better than you expected...  and it will change your life.... and it will cause spiritual growth and i guess for some of you this person could be in the spotlight.... or some of you want fame, etc...  and it would be some type of dream job since you were young...
i could probably keep going but you get the idea...  other advice i can give is to let go of any negativity or doubt... and just let it go to the universe... i guess i would say that besides that... you don’t have to do anything else... except if you lay the groundwork toward your gaols... change will happen on its own...  and you don’t let anything go to your head or use your powers for evil...  bc there is a sense of “gossip” in the tarot too... like maybe people talking behind your back... but this could be related to the fallout with someone... okay well that’s pretty long so we’ll stop there... makes me want to read tae’s cards for him. weird i called him tae and i called suga and rm by their stage names... it’s weird for me to call yoongi suga idk it’s an age thing i think, i want to call them by their names. although saying namjoon feels way too familiar haha. but i probably would in person. so... namjoon... i mean... RM...  i think one girl called him joonie one time on accident haha. good talk.

Pile 2
Tumblr media
I’ve loved that these piles seem to be describing the energy of the bts member in the photocard. Because even though there’s a capricorn card here, which maybe I’ll go look at suga’s chart, I get heavy Pisces vibes for sure. Uranus and Neptune in Cap and North Node in Sag (9th house). I think it’s funny hedonist came out after I pulled devil, too...  makes me think of Pied Piper, too...
Anyway, this isn’t a Min Yoongi reading, but it should be... his cards are always so interesting and chill. So ofc we have acceptance and flow, which feel very watery and flowy and dreamy like Pisces. Imagine has this blue vibe, which you’d think of throat chakra, but I still feel very watery here, and I think of Pisces because it has the moon and is about imagination.
Lately in readings I’ve felt a sense of cards reading as if someone was boxied in or trapped or tied down in some way... I see this here, but... maybe I’m projecting because the 8 of wands she’s tied up to another person with a vine, traditionally the devil card is also that sense of being voluntarily chained to something and four of pentacles has a very stodgy, stay put energy to it...
So, I guess as a person this makes me think of someone who likes to escape through their imagination because in reality they feel stuck in some way. So, they may indulge in various hobbies or whatever activities that can transport them or expand their imagination... I said this in pile 1, too, before I even looked at pile 2′s cards, but i talked more about using drugs to create this sensation to fill a void. Whereas in this one it reminds me of, say, someone who lives in a crappy part of town, no money, no resources and listening to music as a means to escape... or writing about other worlds as a means to escape their own, which feels stifled in some way... kind of like it’s calling to you... but the other part is you do seem to be chained down or stuck or tied down to something and unable to leave or escape...  integrity and faith cards totally make me think of Yoongi... like the group of cards here definitely paints a picture of an interesting person and immediately Yoongi comes to mind....  this isn’t a person who would sell out per se... this isn’t someone initially in it for the money... this is really someone who’s driven by faith in themselves or a vision or feeling... and then stays true to that feeling... this is someone who would operate on some pretty high vibes... like... honor amongst thieves is what I hear, too, so this person doesn’t have to be a goody goody, but is someone who has their own set of sort of moralistic/ethical principles and follows them - but when I look at the faith card, I see it more as personal faith as opposed to a religious faith. It could be a spiritual faith, though... okay so enough about describing a vibe of a person... but some of you may relate to that description or Yoongi or his style of work or how he performs, carries himself, seems to be as a person... i do want to clarify the tarot just to be sure, so hold plz.... okay so we got high priestess; nine of pentacles and four of cups; ace of cups. haha. pisces energy again with high priestess....  my first impression is of... travel, leaving home or wanting to escape home or a sense of being stuck.... the middle part is also a sense of... sort of being on hold, on pause... and maybe having spent some time working on one’s self - like your own career or hobby or spiritually... it could also indicate a period of time where you’ve been single bc you’ve been working on yourself (if you are interested in manifesting relationships). it’s funny bc high priestess is very matronly and prudish i mean she is meant to be sort of virginal... and nine of pentacles is the “single lady” card... so it’s like someone so focused on themselves or their work that they really haven’t had time to focus on love or relationships, like even if it was right in front of their face...  i just feel like you’re too busy for a relationship now anyway (or if you’re in one perhaps you feel guilty for being too busy to pay attention to a partner right now). and yet if you’re single... there is some type of offer that’s coming in that could be romantic... and it (or a situation) is going to try very hard to seduce you...  that’s just one way to read it. i think what’s more appropriate to yoongi and the whole spread is more of... someone who is rather... not boring, but someone who is very normal... and then through a creative expression is able to transform into someone else, who’s very charismatic and seductive... or the passion being pursued is, itself, rather seductive and hard to resist and is taking up all your time (do you hear pied piper now, too?) what’s that line...
Stop, now stop watching and study for your test Your parents and boss hate me Video clips, pictures, tweets V app, Bon Voyage I know, you can't help what you like But stop, interpret the music video later You have so many pictures of me in your room anyway It's not just one hour, it's a whole year that'll disappear So this song is a reward I'm giving to you
[the whole song]
It’s kind of like calling something to you that’s... so seductive and powerful that it could break you? The faith card would indicate that this person or calling or whatever becomes your “religion”...  in pile 1 i basically came to the conclusion that people could be trying to manifest an EXPERIENCE. as in like a miracle or... something to make them feel alive... this gives me similar vibes... but it’s definitely more of the creative variety. And it doesn’t have to be specifically creative - but let’s say it’s dance... and you spend 3424342 hours in the practice room dancing and your diet is related to dance and you ignore friends for dance and only watch dance videos... there’s this feeling of being “married” to this idea or ideal or whatever (kinda like how bts members joke that all suga does is work and make music and produce), so yeah there’s a sense of being married to/faithful to/a purity of interest to... and to an extreme degree as indicated by devil and hedonist... but there’s also a sense of... it being hidden in some way, just like a fantasy or something. perhaps not appearing to be a freak on the outside but you hella freaky on the inside, writing that nasty ass tentacle fanfic on the side or somethin’. whatever it is, there’s a temptation, a draw that might be physical or unexplainable... there’s a level of fantasizing about it/he/she/them whatever very frequently... i mean you’re definitely set on this... i’d call it obsession. i think also it’s something that involves a level of needing to learn about it too since high priestess is about knowledge/learning... so it could be that it’s an educational or career goal... or prize, award...
i feel like these offer more about advice... but i will at least say it seems like this pile could be manifesting a relationship... but i see it more for people attempting a goal of some sort... like an artsy career or award or anything that involves a level of attainment and also accumulation of knowledge to do that goal. so a dream job or position or creative project or some type of fantasy life.
i see how focused you are on it, so how to attain is basically to build the foundation/roots of whatever you need to know. like if you want to be a ceo, you have to go to business school or learn about business or work your way up via experience or if you want to be a rapper, you gotta write songs and perform even if it’s in front of 3 people and you gotta work toward it, have faith in yourself and your dream, etc...  and you also have to operate with a level of integrity... no.. short cuts, no... stealing or plagiarism or...  impure motivations? when i look at the four of pentacles... look at the tree right and then those roots make me think of this 8 of wands next to it... and on the other side of four of p is the books or performing face/drama mask thing... so there’s a sense of building roots or growing foundation and also the actual... actions you may have to take... and that’s the balance necessary to achieve this goal or whatever that’s calling to you...  since it’s capricorn aka saturn it does feel like yeah it’s more likely to be related to a career type of goal...  and that it would make sense if it also involved any sort of communication or travel... or both cuz i guess famous rappers write and rap and travel for shows... and they use words to seduce and are also seduced by their work but... like i’ve tried to convey, it’s all a metaphor and i think the cards are also vibing off of yoongi’s energy... but anyone attracted to yoongi’s vibe on his card would probably relate in some way to his energy anyway... and so it may relate to your situation as well...
and yeah this could be a relationship but i feel more about work goals and fantasies of being a famous dancer or something...  there’s an element of having really... fantastical dreams.... but also just this idea of... being able to travel... far... but... without going anywhere... so that just makes me go back to... anyone with a creative talent to take people (or themselves) far away without having to leave home... so storytelling or an escape through art, etc... but one can escape through a relationship too...  fantasize about an ideal and sexy relationship... not just any relationship but THE relationship with the perfect partner...
i would also think this person for this pile would already be naturally decent at manifesting bc they don’t throw up blockages... like there’s not as much doubt like “i can’t do this no way can i be famous”... this person is more like just... going with the flow of what they imagine and doing what they love and... that could lead to something more... bc that’s just... natural manifestation... there’s two 8′s here... and it’s a six but this faith card says 3 3 and 3 is about abundance and creativity... so i’d read that as... gaining personal power through a creative activity, also gaining abundance or the potential to gain it through this creative activity that seems to come naturally to you...  there is, too, a strong sense of intuition for this pile... an expansion of knowledge...  i also see people who are indulgent, in particular when i tcomes to food or drinking... so be careful of that... you might want to read pile 1 too... i do see someone who’s creative or at least driven in terms of a vision... but there is also another side of you that seems to be grounded with your feet on the ground here... in terms of like... even if you dabble in creative stuff, you have or will need to have the business knowledge/money knowledge to get this off the ground. i mean... as in it would be good if you learn how to be in control of more aspects of this “interest”. like how yoongi can rap and dance but he can also write and produce which gives him more control and autonomy over his talent, career, money, career direction, etc...  i think being tied down or bossed around by others would... annoy you. like you’d rather do your art or your whatever how you want to do it bc, again you have some type of vision and you don’t want anyone to mess with it or it may be you like to do it a certain way and don’t want to do it any other way....
so yeah if it wasn’t clear manifesting a creative goal or a very... singular vision type of job or goal, whether it’s an educational goal or... but it’s very... high.... like... this is someone who’s reaching for the stars and has high expectations... like someone who isn’t wanting the middle ground. like how yoongi’s like “i want a grammy” or i want this, i want whatever’s best, blah blah....  there is... i will say... a dark side... it’s not the main character of this story but like i said, occasionally individually outside of this talent, just as a person, some indulgence in alcohol or overeating or luxury, spending... and the imagery on ninth house still makes me feel an occult vibe... well makes me think of 12th house - pisces...  like yeah 9th house is spirituality but 12th house is more occult like this ouija board...  so it could be a bit of... say someone who has... occasionally dark moods....  you know the type of person who maybe when they drink get kind of cranky or broody or mean even tho when they’re sober they’re pretty chill and even tempered... like they turn into a scorpio or somethin’....  same with the devil being here, i do feel that occasionally some depression could get the better of a person in this pile...  i’m mostly drawn to red in these cards...  and blue... throat and root chakras...  so another final message may have to do with embracing your (mental health) flaws... maybe shadow work will be part of your homework... my feel would be to say that a good way to do that is to... express your dark side through your art or hobby or whatever... that’s probs healthier than drugs and sex or alcohol... even tho there’s that dark side, the... most prominent side feels more like this integrity/high priestess kinda vibe... i guess i could say no one’s perfect so it’s okay to slip up here and there as long as you keep your eyes on the prize... and not... suffer distractions... and rather than fight any obstacles that may come up, to simply sort of dance with them or around them as if they’re part of this whole bit of choreography to get where you want to go.... even if all you know about where you want to go is “up here”...
also also after reading something for pile 3, i wanted to come back and say that... integrity may mean pursuing without listening to your ego... do it for the love/passion of the thing as opposed to the desire to be famous/money/etc...

pile 3
Tumblr media
figures that RM’s pile would be very... Virgo-y. So, as a vibe, this feels like a person who... does a lot of internal debating and philosophizing, about themselves, their worth or purpose, the world, self worth, purpose, lessons, their place in the world, and so on... someone who’s pretty critical of themselves and occasionally maybe others but mostly themselves, someone who’d often ask themselves if they’re being authentic or fake or living up to their (the ideal they have of themselves in their head). Someone with a strong sense of intuition, a thirst for (higher) knowledge, not just “spiritual” but about the world around them... they’d have a very sensitive hidden spot inside, where they might not like to show just how... insecure they are or maybe others can’t see just how insecure they are and that might revolve around something that feels childlike. Because, they have the curiosity and uncertainty of a child on the inside. So, there’s always this weird balancing game of... external validation. It would take a lot to find something in life to truly believe that they feel validated about being good enough or ... finding an accurate mirror that reflects who they truly are bc this person is always questioning themselves and analyzing. It’s tiring just thinking about this person... but they would be incredibly smart, they would make a good and compassionate leader, and work well with others in order to create something more, though the cocreate card can also be about working with the universe to manifest things into being, but I’m reading this more as... working with others, this isn’t really a person meant to go solo.
The five of cups again shows someone who’s more cynical or more prone to focus on the negative of a situation (very virgo again). Two of pentaces is about balance, prioritizing, so this just feels like someone who has a lot on their plate, or a lot resting on their shoulders, which would make sense why they’re overthinking as they may have multiple responsibilities... ten of pentacles... in this case, I’m feeling “legacy” but it can be about career as well, family, ancestors, stability... so I feel like this is about a person seeking to establish a solid legacy in their lives, particularly through career or establishing a family (having children, etc...) or building up something - whether that’s a company or a fortune or a name for themselves, whatever...
And obviously saboteur fits in there with all of the self doubt and self criticism which would obviously be something that could get in the way of manifestations. There’s not a lot of room for doubt, but here’s the thing... dumb people are probably excellent at manifesting bc... they don’t think about all the ways it won’t work out or if they don’t deserve it. Just look at Donald Trump. He’s dumb as a box of rocks and a terrible person, but he can be President. Now, take someone who’s got decent morals and is properly smart... they’re always going to trip up themselves because they’ll overthink everything and on top of that go “am i doing this for the right reasons? will anyone get hurt if i do this? am i worthy of this” and so smart, kind people are always going to have issues manifesting, tbh. not that they never do, i’m just saying it’s challenging... and then you throw in this deep knowing and... moon... and it’s so much THINKIng that yeah... you trip yourself up more than anyone else can trip you up. Moon and intuition cards are basically the same... body is interesting because yeah first house is about the body or the rising sign or... the self, the physical appearance, what persona we project, it’s the first part of a cycle... it’s aries energy. so on top of everything, it’s someone who’s often thinking about how people view them or the persona we create to... display a certain way we want to be seen while hiding the “uglier” parts we think people won’t like on the inside and then going around in this circular debate about “who am iiii” and if this were RM’s reading, i’d be like oh boy namjoon let’s have a chat bc you seem BURDENED and i want to reassure you how amazing you are and if this were his current energy he may be questioning his “place” in life rn in terms of what he wants or what he projects or if the outside matches the inside or keeping up appearances, etc...
but yeah let’s talk about what’s actually being manifested... it can be a lot of things here bc i’m more picking up an “approach” to manifesting... or blocks on the way.... i also see someone who takes life quite seriously so... finding time to play and have fun and... nourish the inner child is important in terms of balance and not going over the edge into thinking too much...
to get body and soul together is interesting. i do think of bts here but i’ll leave that sort of soul core reading to someone like bluemoonpunch haha bc... ofc i keep seeing RM bc if i say RM you’d get what i mean... but let’s say the body is what we all see physically and then this moon card is what the soul really looks like and then that’s a whole other layer of spiritual woowoo bc we’d be getting into okay having a physical body is immaterial bc what we really are is this moon-soul card and a whole explosion of universe resides inside that so who/what we are can’t be confined into a box/body. we’re all individually so much bigger than that, etc... and it’s fun how in the guidebooks the words ego and persona came up a lot xD golden crown is about congratulating yourself on how far you’ve come on some spiritual journey but in this instance, i feel more drawn to how it could tie with intuition... so it’s like the interest or attainment of a type of spiritual knowledge in the form of intellectualism? bc i mean if you’re an atheist or agnostic... you’re not reaaaaaaaally spiritual though i’m not saying god and spirituality have to be related i’m saying that you can NOT believe in spirituality or god but have a similar sense of spiritualism ... but you would maybe call it “philosophy” and i find philosophy to heavily revolve around spirituality, so... me talking about that has to do with... a person who’s driven... by some inner... well... not voice or calling but just a natural questioning or curiosity and... that’s their version of intuition in a way... intuition to spiritual people is how higher beings or realms speak to us. like how we know our calling is through what our intuition drives us toward and some may reject that as being spiritual, etc...  but that whole questioning-curiosity is... how the universe works through you and pushes you, etc...   there is also a sense of voluntarily wanting to hide parts of yourself from others or maybe simply being uncertain or in the dark about your own identity...  but overall, this is a very smart person with a lot of deep knowledge and no i still didn’t talk about what you’re manifesting...
that’s bc it’s complicated... it feels more like someone unconsciously manifesting something, for one. and part of that process is also about... figuring out one’s self, what they want... who they are, and how that’s connected to your manifestation approach? and manifestations in general? like your personality would be a big tell in the types of things you’d manifest anyway so maybe what you’re manifesting isn’t important but why you want to manifest the things you do or what gets in the way of your manifestations (yourself, taking things too seriously, overthinking, self criticism, doubt, insecurities).
There’s a desire to manifest knowledge, to share that knowledge and/or learn that type of knowledge from others. There’s a desire to manifest answers that include purpose, life meaning. There may be a desire for fame or to have a certain body type, or to project a certain lifestyle... like the other two piles, what it comes down to is... everyone is looking for answers... or an EXPERIENCE. Like a hit me in the face with that miracle, I’m ready to have the holy light shine on me and make me feel like everything is real and significant and I have meaning.
Every pile has talked about that... and the other two piles had a sense of escapism - maybe through drugs or obsessions, fantasies... here... if there’s escapism, it’s just into the mind.  I should say the 10 of pentacles indicates someone wanting to manifest a legacy, a name for themselves, career/money stability or a family, or just like a place in this world... but that falls under legacy, so - for RM, I’d think legacy is more important than just fame/money/success. Like yeah those are nice things IG but in THIS particular spread, this is someone who wants to be remembered and does a lot of reflection on will I be remembered as this (how I see myself)... will I be remembered in a good light... will my inner philosophies be projected and SEEN by people in the way I want or wish? So in the broadest sense you are likely trying to manifest something that would PROVIDE this type of validation for you BUT you may be unconscously doing so and not realizing that when you say you want to be rich and famous what you REALLY want is a legacy. You want to carry on... something about you... in this physical world for... reasons related to... stuff that’s more about... insecurities... or not insecurities but... it’s very childlike... “do i matter” “will i be forgotten” “is life really impermanent”...
there’s also a sense of... something about height or rising to the top... maybe there’s pressure in rising... so like... even if you do succeed or get so far, that’s when you start to freak out and sabotage things....  almost like... let’s say you already have identity crisis(es)... so imagine being famous and then you can no longer really (or don’t feel you do) have an accurate mirror that can project who you are realistically. like well basically it’s... persona vs.... real you. namjoon vs. RM... who am, who am i more... who is the real me... am i still me from the past now that i’m famous, am i out of touch... that kind of thing which i’m sure RM has considered (and all of bts) have considered...
so yes what you’re REALLY manifesting is a legacy but you could be attempting to manifest... fame, super career, lots of money...
but what you want deep down is to just... have your existence acknowledged and to be told it has meaning... and even a bit of fear of... the afterlife or... actually maybe attachment to this life or material things bc, well, it’s... reassuring. the unknown may be fascinating but scary to you and so you compensate by trying to acquire as much knowledge as you can about the world or the universe or spirituality... etc... and to get back to “the body” i also feel like sometimes how you feel on the inside... you may manifest certain physical things, whether it’s stress or say... you feel a lack of control, so you start to change your appearance, whether it’s working out or cutting your hair or coloring it, etc... you do care about how you’re perceived, looks wise so yeah that might change around some...
i’m pretty sure i hit every point i wanted to... there’s just a lot of imagery i’m seeing now about what’s trapped on the “inside”... there’s a tiny person inside this big dress in 10 of pentacles... a person inside the moon in 5 of cups... inner child... and moon is all about what’s hidden and unconscious, etc... mooooon chiiild staaaay wiiiilld... i love mono.  co create is funny bc i dunno if i’m imagining rm, suga and jk or... it’s suga jk and jhope looking at RM in the cocreate card... i don’t know why i don’t see jhope in this as i usually associate jhope as being part of the “producers” of bts but lately i noticed it’s been yoongi and rm and jk and the little egg in co create reminds me of jk, the owl makes me think of yoongi... idkidk where i’m going with that but... it’s got these roman temples on it so it’s like building a philosophy (with the help of others). so also your specific manifestation may rely on working with others (3 of pentacles-y)... or creating a type of “community” or brand, etc... i think it’s more i see the animals looking at “the person” or well you so it’s more a vibe of others relying on you or looking to you for direction or you’re the leader... bc you have a certain amount of knowledge that they rely on or trust you to have...  but i also see you as being a bit of a loner, too... even if you create stuff with others... also since 10 of p and first house can also be about physical health...  just make sure all your health stuff is up to date, etc.. and yeaaaaah. that about does it for pile 3. we don’t do short readings here, we only know 40 page explanations

Summary:  When you were a child, you swore that no matter how high the reward in your head, she could always count on you. Life as an outlaw in the west is not easy, but you believe that train robberies are still easier than asking a pretty girl to dance. Land of Thieves, also know as your love story with Wanda Maximoff in the Wild West.

You were covered in mud and blood when you entered the saloon. Curious and judgmental eyes turned to you, but you didn't stare back. Stretching your back, you felt your whole body ache; the recent beating was sure to leave marks. Walking over to the counter, you threw three gold coins onto the wood, muttering in a mumbled tone "bath" to the saloon keeper. He nodded slightly, showing you the way to the restrooms. As you washed up, you grumbled against the recent cuts, but you were happy to know that you hadn't been shot. Your body ached, but without bullet wounds, you would be better in no time. A pretty girl who worked in the saloon smiled at you when she took your muddy clothes to wash them, and you looked away blushing helplessly. She handed you new clothes before she left. When you finished your shower, you put on the white silk shirt, and beat-up jeans that were handed to you. The boots were not new, but they were comfortable. You also put on spurs, but they didn't give you suspenders, so you left the shirt loose against your body, enjoying the lightness. Attaching your holstered belt to your waist, you checked to be sure your Schofield revolver was clean and locked before you holstered it. You walked to the top floor of the saloon, ignoring the curious glances cast at you on the way. You hoped that no one would recognize you from the reward posters, but you weren't so sure about that, since your face was quite exposed without your hat, which must now be somewhere lost in the middle of New Elizabeth, or on some thief's head. Whistling softly, you walked to the saloon balcony, watching the town below. Valentine is a ranching town, small and not very crowded. Lots of pedestrians, you observe. You light a cigarette as you watch the citizens go about their mundane lives, many opportunities passing before your eyes. You let your gaze wander to the town bank, a few meters ahead on the right of the saloon. You notice that security is low. Making mental notes about everything you could observe from there, you put out your cigarette, returning to the lower part of the saloon, toward the counter. - A whiskey and a beef stew. - You grumble, handing the bartender some coins. He nods in agreement and in a few minutes you get your meal. While you are sitting at the farthest table in the room, you listen attentively to the conversation of two men at the poker table, who have caught your attention. - My cousin saw the carriages in Saint Denis. Four horses in each, and he said that the riders were armed to the teeth." - The skinny man commented excitedly, his friend didn't look so happy. - Those damned bankers are like pests of the soil. You saw what happened to that southern town, I think it was called White Gate. - commented the man with the mustache, his expression frowning. - After the oil ran out, everybody lost their jobs. Stark closed the mine and the citizens began to starve. Almost everyone moved to the neighboring towns. Stark. The name was not strange to you, but you could not tell exactly where you had heard it before. You finished your stew, deciding that Steve would want to know about both the bank and the possible rich men who were visiting the town. Finishing your whiskey in one gulp, you stood up, leaving the saloon just as you collected your freshly washed clothes from the same woman who had brought them. It was hot and humid outside. Knight, your Hungarian half-breed horse, grunted with delight when you stroked his mane. You smiled at him before you mounted. You rode south, figuring you would have no trouble finding the new camp site, and trying to remember Bucky's instructions about where exactly they were. It took some time, but you finally found the camp. You dismounted Knight as you entered the area between the trees, walking calmly to the largest tent. Steve Rogers was like a father to you. When your birth parents died of cholera, you ran away from the orphanage the government put you in, and started living on the streets. You were only seven years old, but you were smart enough to hide in one of the garbage carts when the nuns weren't looking, and you ran away because you couldn't stand being beaten by the older children and your own teachers. You ended up somewhere in West Elizabeth, and while trying to steal some food, you were chased by two officers. But just as they were about to catch up with you, someone knocked them out. You smiled when Steve held out a big piece of bread and water to you. From that moment on, you lived with him. The Avengers gang became your family. Steve took care of you, and trained you as an outlaw. You learned everything that was essential to survive in the Wild West, from hunting to murder. And as the years passed, other people joined the gang, and you accepted them all as your family. When Steve saw you, he smiled tenderly, wiping the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief as he motioned for you to enter the tent. - So, kiddo, what did you find out in Valentine? - asked the man as you sat down in the opposite position, on a wooden chair. - They have a poorly protected bank. - You shrugged. - But you know how these small towns are, the risk is almost always not worth the gain. - That's too bad, we need money. Especially to buy medicine. You let out a low exclamation of agreement, you knew exactly how difficult the situation was. It had been a particularly difficult season for the gang. With Fury's death at the last service, and the move out of town to get away from the officers, you were still facing a wave of illness. Carol and Bruce had been feverish and bedridden for days, and Thor had been shot during an unsuccessful robbery. - I overheard an interesting conversation, though. - You say, and Steve looks at you curiously. - Some rich people are coming to Valentine in a few days. The name Stark was mentioned, have you ever heard of it? Steve's eyes widen in surprise and excitement. - Of course I have! - he exclaims. - Filthy rich folks there! Rich enough to lend us a little money without even noticing. - I think Stark is going to buy the oil mines at Heartlands. And he's staying in Valentine while he does the negotiations. - That's excellent. - Steve says, running his hand along his chin in a thoughtful expression. - If the deposit is made in Valentine, we will have the purchase money first hand. You nodded. - But even if the deposit is made here, the money is sure to be transferred to Saint Denis. - You retort, trying to think of all the details of the scam. - Which means that we have to steal the money the same day it is deposited, or we only stand a chance during the transfer. Steve stood up, walking around the tent with the same thoughtful expression on his face. - No, no. - He began to speak as if the alternatives were rapidly forming in his head. - The carriage will be extremely protected. In the gunfire, we can be very worried about not getting killed, which will give them a chance to escape to the city. And then we'll have no way to reach them there. You sighed, knowing that he was right. You frowned, trying to think of something, but Steve soon spoke again. - We need to do this while the money is in the bank. And we have to do it fast. - He says, and then walks to the edge of the hut, looking around the field. He whistles, attracting the attention of Peggy Carter, who is chopping wood, and when she raises her curious gaze to him, Steve beckons her to join him. - What is it, Rogers? - Peggy asks gently. You exchange a smile with her. - We've got a new hit. - He says, making room for Peggy to join you. - Is Bucky around? - He went out hunting a few minutes ago. The twins went with him. - Peggy says and you rest your face on your own hand, waiting for Steve to speak again. - Oh right. I'll explain the details to them later. - The blond man says, walking around the cabin to the table in the opposite corner, and he takes a pen and paper and begins to write down what you think of as a rough draft of the plan. - We will rob Valentine's bank then. - I thought that banks in small towns were not worth the risk. - Peggy commented with a slightly confused expression. - Ah, but we have a unique opportunity. - Steve remarked, bringing the doodle over to Peggy. - Howard Stark, big oil guy, is going to buy the Heartlands mines. The purchase money will be deposited in Valentine before being transferred to Saint Denis. I believe we will have about a few hours to rob the bank - Steve, are you sure this is a good idea? - Peggy assumed a worried posture. - We are short on snipers... - It's a great idea. - He interrupts, looking at Peggy seriously, but still maintaining a calm tone. - We need the money, Peggy. If this is planned correctly, we don't have to worry about the number of weapons. - I appreciate the confidence in my abilities, by the way. - You playfully push your shoulder lightly against Peggy, she smiles at you. - Of course I trust you, Y/N. - She answers, but her gaze is still worried. - We just need to be careful in this job. You spend the rest of the afternoon planning. It doesn't take long for Bucky to join you. He hands a deer carcass to Pietro, who carries it back to the supply hut. Steve repeats the plan, and you let your gaze drift quickly to Wanda, who smiles at you, and you feel something in your stomach drop. Blushing, you look away, turning your attention back to Steve. It is already night when you have finally finished working out the plan. Wanda and Pietro joined you at some point, and you had to mentally repeat to yourself to pay attention to Steve's words and not to the redheaded girl a few feet away. You didn't want your passion to cost your life or put everyone else in danger because you didn't absorb the plan correctly, but you were getting to this level of unfocused. You felt a light tug on your arm as you walked toward the fire, and found yourself smiling wryly as you faced Wanda already looking at you. - I got my first deer today. - She declared, looking up at you with bright eyes, a tone of pride and happiness in her voice. You raise your eyebrows in a pleased expression. - What? That's amazing, Wands. - You replied. - I told you that you would learn soon! I would have liked to have seen it. - We can hunt together. - She says, and you try not to show your nervousness at the thought of being alone with Wanda, but you don't disguise it very well, which makes Wanda confused, and she looks almost disappointed when she quickly adds - Pietro can come with us too. You blink a few times, believing her to be clarifying that she had no intention of spending time alone with you, and swallowing dryly, you nod in agreement. - Yes, yes. Sure, we should call him too. - You say taking a few steps back, hands in your pockets as you stare uncomfortably at the floor. Wanda bites her lower lip lightly, finding you extremely difficult to decipher. You spend a moment in silence, before she speaks again - We can go tomorrow afternoon if you have no business in town. You think about it for a moment, trying to remember if you had made any appointments, if any robbery opportunities had been signaled to you, but you can't think of anything. - No, it's fine. We can hunt tomorrow. - You say, trying not to be too embarrassed by the contented smile Wanda flashes at you. She was probably going to say it was marked, but Pietro interrupted the moment by extending a bowl of stew in front of her face. Wanda blinked a few times in confusion, but thanked her brother as soon as she grabbed the item. Pietro turned to you next, a relaxed posture as he took a sip of the beer he was holding. - What were you two talking about? - he asked, his tone curious. - It's rude to snoop, you know. - You teased, drawing a short laugh from Wanda, and Pietro rolled his eyes stubbornly, but smiled. - We're going hunting tomorrow. I'll show Y/N that I learned how to use the bow on some deer. - explained Wanda, looking at her brother. - Will you come with us? Pietro frowned, denying with his head. - Sorry, little sister. - He speaks seriously, but his eyes have a malice in them that you didn't know how to recognize. - I'd love to join you on your date, but I have an appointment. You and Wanda blush at the insinuation, but Pietro continues with a playful aura as he takes another sip of beer. Although embarrassed, you can't help but be happy to know that you would be spending some time alone with the girl. - Oh, all right. - Wanda says in what seems to be an attempt to sound disappointed, but her eyes sparkle slightly as she speaks. You don't notice, but Pietro smiles at the expression. - You're full of secrets lately. What kind of appointment? Pietro laughs, shrugging his shoulders. He walks toward you with a playful expression, and puts his arm around your shoulders, smiling at Wanda as he leans on you. - Your girlfriend taught me how to play poker and now I am famous, my presence is requested in Rhodes. I need to bet and win some money for this place. You choke slightly on the phrase and feel your face heat up, looking down at the floor. Wanda lets out a nervous laugh, and pushes her brother lightly, making him let go of you. - You mean lose money, don't you? - she teases. - Even Thor plays better than you, and he usually just flips the table. You laugh, risking a glance at Wanda, who has a reddened face and quickly exchanges a smile with you. Pietro rolls his eyes and walks past you, waving goodbye. Deciding that you should eat something, you nod to Wanda that you are going to the fire. She smiles and follows you silently
You didn't hunt very often. Although you were good at it, it was not your function in the camp. You were a gunslinger, and your jobs usually involved carriage robberies and trespassing, even the occasional robbery. You were always part of the team for the big scams. And then Wanda invited you to go deer hunting and you became an anxious mess. Stumbling out of your tent, you hurried to take a quick swim in the creek near the campground. It was important not to smell too strongly when you went out hunting, as the animals could more easily notice you. Coming out of the water with wet hair, you put on your clothes, leaving the suspenders hanging from your waist and a few buttons open on your shirt. You were feeling heated. You waited for Wanda at the campfire. She also bathed before meeting you, and she seemed slightly anxious when she found you. You smiled as you poured some coffee, and Wanda looked a little airy when she accepted the cup. You didn't understand why, but the sight of your relaxed appearance, your loose hair and your exposed collarbone was absolutely irresistible to her, making Wanda feel heated in places that were not appropriate. You joked that soon she would become the best hunter in the camp, and you were happy to make her smile. As you rode out of the camp, you smiled as you felt Wanda lightly tap her foot against yours, as you used to play with as children. Riding in silence for a few minutes, you enjoyed the gentle breeze until you came to a hunting spot. You descended from Knight slowly, stretching your body when you reached the ground. Wanda watched your shirt lift and reveal some skin, then she looked away quickly, her face red. You cast a curious look, thinking she was feeling heat. Grabbing your rifle stored on the horse, you watched Wanda take from Lily's saddle - her red sorrel - a longbow and some arrows. You walked in silence, heading for the shallow part of the creek beside you, where you could easily find deer. It was comfortable to be in Wanda's presence, even in silence. Neither of you had to say anything to know exactly what to do next, your body following her along the way as if you had done this many times before. One look and you knew when to wait, or when to be quiet. It didn't take long before you spotted the deer. There weren't many, and Wanda bent down in front of you to take aim. You watched her with admiration. She raised her bow, and you noticed the slight tremor in her hands and frowned. You came forward, also bent down, and stood beside her. - There's no need to be nervous, Wands. - You whispered softly. - It's just me. The trembling in their hands seemed to diminish, but it was still there. You moved closer, raising your hands to join Wanda's, helping her to keep a steady aim. - Take a deep breath. - You said against her ear, waiting for her to obey. - And then shoot. With her speech, Wanda let go. The arrow cut through the air with speed, hitting the animal straight in the head. A perfect shot. You smiled, and when you looked at Wanda, she was already looking at you. You were about to congratulate her on the shot, but Wanda hugged you by the neck, surprising you. You felt your face heat up and due to the shock, you didn't respond to the hug, your body seeming asleep for an instant. Wanda let you go quickly, her face flushed with apology. You were about to tell her it was okay, and maybe hug her back, then you heard an animalistic noise that attracted your full attention, a low growl that you knew all too well. Glad you had brought your rifle, you looked around, searching for the source of the noise. Wanda blinked curiously, but you didn't look at her again. Standing up, you held the rifle with both hands, your gaze roaming the surroundings. A moment later, the bushes a few feet away moved, and you watched the creature sneak through the undergrowth, only to run toward you the next second, preparing to jump. The sound of gunfire echoed for a few seconds after the shot. You let out the breath you were holding and watched the panther lying on the ground, just a few inches away from your feet. Wanda looked at you in shock, and you offered your hand to help her up. - Sorry for the scare. - You grumbled, walking towards the panther intent on retrieving the skin, which should be worth a few dozen dollars. - We always have to be careful not to become the prey during the hunt. - How did you hear it? - Wanda asked curiously. - Practice I guess. - You said, kneeling down beside the panther. - Every sound around us is important. - You explained - Pay attention now, for example. Besides my voice, what do you hear? Wanda seemed to think for a moment. - I can only hear water, I think. Maybe birds. - She confesses, you finish cutting the skin off the animal in front of you. - Oh, sorry. - You say quickly. - I forgot that I just drove all the animals away with the noise of the rifle. You laugh to yourself, and Wanda smiles at you tenderly. - Let's go after that deer. I'll teach you to hear the sounds another day. - You tell her as you stand up. Walking over to the dead deer, you observe Wanda kneeling beside the animal, drawing her own knife. - Bucky taught you how to skin? - you ask, watching the firm but still amateurish cut Wanda was giving the animal. - Yes, he told me to skin rabbits before he taught me to cut the deer during yesterday's hunt. - said the red-haired girl focused on the activity. You tried not to blush as you watched a drop of sweat trickle down your neck. - I learned to skin animals from him too. - You commented as you waited for Wanda to finish the task. - I was a little smaller, I think. - I guess it took long enough for us to learn how to hunt, didn't it? - Wanda joked, drawing a smile from you. It was true, hunting had been the last activity Steve and Bucky taught you. For some reason, teaching them to shoot was a higher priority than getting food from the wild. A moment later, Wanda finished, raising the deer leather in the air, showing off her work proudly. You laughed at her expression, signaling for her to step away from the animal. You handed her your rifle, and bent down, grabbing the carcass with both hands and throwing it over your shoulders to carry it to the horse. It was quite heavy, but you concentrated your breathing as Bucky had taught you, and managed to carry the animal to Wanda's sorrel. After placing the carcass on the back of the animal, you grunted when you saw the state of your shirt, completely covered in blood. - What's the matter? - Wanda asked curiously when she heard your sigh. - Pepper made me promise not to come covered in blood to the camp anymore. - You say, rolling up your sleeves. - She told me she would put me to sleep with the horses if I showed up like this again. Of course, she will probably just change my watch shifts, but it will still be a pain to hear the lecture. - You could have told me to carry the deer. - Wanda retorted, looking at you with a mixture of seriousness and guilt. You just smiled. - Don't be silly, I just need to clean up before I go back. - You said simply, and Wanda frowned in confusion. And then she choked in surprise, watching you pull your shirt over your head. You went around her body and towards the creek. It took Wanda a few seconds to snap out of her shock, then she turned her head toward the creek, her face flushed. You rubbed the fabric with your hands, watching the blood drip into the water. You put your shirt aside only to wet your own body, wiping any traces of blood from your skin. Completely oblivious to the shy mess Wanda had become as she watched you wash yourself. Finished cleaning yourself, you wrung out your shirt, getting as much water buildup out as possible. You put your clothes back on, feeling the damp fabric against your skin. Wanda stood in the same place you had left her, and you frowned when you saw her look quickly away from you, her face red. You suddenly felt very embarrassed, thinking that you must have crossed some boundary with her. Coughing awkwardly, you walked toward your own horse. You rode in silence back to the camp, you mentally going over the whole conversation trying to find what you had done wrong that made Wanda so quiet. You were surprised when you heard her singing softly. Smiling without looking at her, you slowed down the speed of Knight's gallop, trying to enjoy the moment to the fullest. Wanda continued to sing the whole way, and you tried to ignore the feeling of butterflies in your stomach

you cried your eyes out, face shoved in your pillow and muffling your sobs. you didn't who told you those words, it was mark but he's not the same guy you fell in love with and the guy you said yes with today. your phone was ringing nonstop so you have to turn it off but mark was too eager so he's now in front of your house banging and shouting your name begging you to open the door and talk to him.
what he told you was possible, that they didn't care for you and you have to admit that it stings but his words are not responsible for your vulnerability right now, it was the unknown mark. you didn't like him just because he's kind, it was just one out of the nth god knows the reason why you love him. he made you so special, he was right that he's the only person who cared about you in your class but the unfamiliar mark you saw a couple of hours ago was scary. it gave you goosebumps, you were frightened it's as if anytime he will hurt you.
you heard a hard stomp inside your room and you quickly sat up and surprisingly it was mark inside your room who entered the room through your open window.
"fuck, y/n." he ran into you and pulled you up into his arms. "I'm so sorry, this will never happen again." he whispered and caressed your hair. "i will not let lucas and my friends break us, shhh i am truly sorry. you only need me, so don't worry."
your body froze in shock and your heart beating so fast. he's not sorry.
"what..." you whispered in disbelief, you can't understand why he can't understand that he's wrong as well.
"we're okay now right? let's just forget everything, y/n... hmmm?" he looked at your face and looked into your eyes but he saw nothing but unpleasant. he felt rage rushing in his whole system. "what do you want! i already apologize!" he squeezed your jaw.
you were shaking in fear as his loud voice boomed in your room. his nose was flaring, his eyes were dripped with spite, and his chest where heaving. he's so mad at you and you're scared and confused.
that's when you realize, there's something wrong with him.
"m-mark, you're hurting me." you sobbed. mark snapped out of his senses. he quickly removed his hands from you and embraced you.
"I'm sorry." he sincerely said and kissed your cheeks and shove his face against it. "I'm so sorry, please don't leave me." he kept on apologizing non-stop. his hands were trembling you could feel it as he was clutching your arms.
"mark? mark?" you panicked. "mark? are you okay?" your fear from him vanished and changed into a concern to him. this is not normal.
you tried to get away from his arms but he's not budging, you stopped wriggling when you heard him whimper.
"don't leave me, can't. i really can't, i will lose myself." he begged like he's close to hopelessness. you gently pushed him to look at his face. your heart was stabbed when you saw how vulnerable he looked.
"mark..." you voice broke, you really don't know what to say because this is your first time to see him like this.
this is why mark never pursues someone or something he likes, he became possessive in fear that it will slip away from him, like his friends' admiration and respects towards him, the trust from his parents, and how they look at him as the perfect son, the people's respect on him because of his kindness and intellect, and his high grades- all of these are his goals and obsession but you're different. he can confidently allow these to get away from him in exchange of not losing you. you become his obsession. mark is aware that he has a problem but doesn't want to admit it and keep on insisting that this is part of his life... when it is not. everything about it is not normal, because when he faces rejection he felt anguish, loss, stress, and anger. there was a point where he tried to consider hurting and taking his life but he was taught that this is a grave sin and again, he felt disappointed that he is thinking of doing a grave sin which added made it worse to his anxiety. 3 years ago, he talked to his psychologist professor and was diagnosed with depression and attachment disorganized anxiety. he only attends one counseling session because he couldn't accept that there's something wrong with him and if people will find out about this he will lose all the respect.
ask him. you were pushing yourself to speak what's wrong? do you have a problem? you want to ask him but you became voiceless.
"mark, i want you to be honest to me okay?" your voice was shaking trying to control it from whimpering and tears rolling on your cheeks. "are you going through... something? do you want to talk about it?"
mark was spacing out while looking into your eyes but inside his head, it was in extreme chaos. he's having a second thoughts on telling that he has anxiety.
"mark, i love you so much but i need to understand you first so i know what to do and to make sure that you're receiving it. can you trust me?" you were convincing him and mark can see it through your eyes.
he gave up.
"i'm a mess." he broke down. mark's voice cracked and tears falling filled with hopelessness. you couldn't bare to see him like this so you pulled him into a passionate but slow kiss which he gladly responds.
you made him sit on your bed and straddle his hips, your hands were on both sides of his face and his hands were on the bed to support his body and your body. both of you where muffling your sobs.
"i was diagnosed depression and disorganized attachment anxiety" he confessed. you have no idea what is disorganized attachment anxiety, but you just understand that he has anxiety and depression, which was shocking.
mark lee, loved by everyone and religious boy have depression? that's when you realize, depression has no favoritism.
"how? you're..."
"when i was a kid, my parents are busy but i felt love every time they praise me and follow their lessons. i needed their praise and validation and i adopted it and became like... that and brought it until i grow up and to school. i never wanted to feel their disappointment and i never wanted to lose the respect of my parents, professors, and classmates but when i met you..." your eyes were locking with him. "you're the only thing i need and for the first time i never cared of losing it i thought i changed but i was wrong, nothing changed. i was just too possessive and obsess of you and when you told me you want to leave me..." his voice broke once again.
"it's going to be the end of me. it's been a long time since i felt rejected and i don't know what to do." he weeps and you felt weak.
mark has been your emotional support with fragile heart, you felt useless. instead of apologizing, you said the 3 words he always and shamelessly tells you.
"i love you." you pecked his lips. "i love you." your kissed it again and repeatedly do it while allowing the tears to fall.
he needs assurance that he is genuinely loved, which he is.
"mark, you are you still going to a psychiatrist?" making sure that he's managing it very well, but he shook his head. he needs help, someone who's more reliable. you hope that the next statement you will tell him will not take it as a bad thing. you rub his cheeks.
"you need to, aren't we pharmacists? aren't we push people to comply and adhere?" you smiled sadly.
"what will they think? my parents will be disappointed and sad at me, they will blame it to themselves, i know them y/n. and the people around me, they will think that i am fragile." you could see how frustrated he was.
"i thought you don't care about them anymore? i thought what matters is me? and what i think is that i love you and will love you more regardless of seeing one." you want to tell him that one day if you will do something wrong he might hurt himself or the people around him but you don't know if it's the right thing to say. this is why he needs to talk to a professional and you also need one because you can talk to them on what is the right thing to do to help mark and support him.
"if i do this you will never leave me?" you felt bad, now mark is now losing trust on you.
"if you do that, i am always right there with you." you kissed his forehead.
"and if i don't?"
"and if you don't..." you rest your forehead against his. "i am always with you."
you stared at each other for a long time sharing tons of emotion and you didn't know when it happened but both of you can't keep your hands to yourself. you're hovering over him touching him everywhere and his hands are all over your back.
you're grinding yourself hard on his pants, both of you panting but your lips never got separated, instead, it gets deeper. you pulled the hem of his pants and boxer. you pushed aside you shorts and sunk down to his length.
"fuck, that was hot." mark coulnd't help but blurt that out. you started to bounce, hands gripping his shoulders. he squeezed your breast underneath your shirt when suddenly the door clicked opened along with a women's gasp.
both of your heads turned towards the door's direction. it was your mom wearing his office uniform, holding a bowl with jaw-dropping in surprise. mark panicked, and so do you. you pulled mark's head and pulled it towards your breast, you want to gatekeep him.
"mom!" you shouted.
"i-i'm sorry I thought you look so down.. ohh..." you actually don't know what she just realized but she's nodding her head like now i get it "you have--"
"mom, get out!" she quickly closed the door.
"just so you know i will be here at 8, but if you want i can come here by 9! you can continue-"
"mom!" she made you feel embarrassed.
"my daughter has a boyfriend! finally!" she squealed as if the pigs finally learned how to fly. your mom thought this day wouldn't come but good lord your mom saw mark's face and at that moment she knew she needs mark's gene in her family tree.
"as much i loved your breast, i love to look at your face more." mark said. you release his head.
"my mom is just like that I'm sorry." you heard your mom honked. mark grinned and you gave him an apologetic look. "are you still in the mood?"
"i'm afraid i'm not anymore." mark chuckled. there's so much going on inside him plus he was slightly concerned what your mom thought of him. your mom caught him making with you but she seemed cool though but it was awkward.
"me too." deep down your blaming your mom.
Tumblr media
you went back to class, you can't let mark skip[ another class again. you have to be a good influence. it was awkward but everyone already knows that you're dating, there's no reason to hide it and might just embrace it. mark apologized to the whole class, he didn't tell them his condition but he told them that he's going through something. even though mark still thinks that they are just using him, though at first that's how you perceived them but that really changed, for you it was a genuine friendship, they were so forgiving and i hope one day mark will accept that friendship.
since them, things went good though not perfect. his parents blamed themselves but you told them that that's the reason why mark didn't want to tell it to them, instead of continuing blaming themselves, they will give them all the love and support. mark never missed a session and you never missed going with him also.
and for the first time, you went to their church and the pastor is mark's father. you thought it was going to be like a normal day but...
"mark..." you sighed when he increased the intensity of the vibrator that he slipped while his father preaching. the front seats were occupied while you and mark are the only ones seating at the back.
you're squeezing and rubbing your thighs together, you felt so hot and wet. you badly want to moan, but that will be hard because you felt like once you moan, it will never stop.
"are you calling me love?" mark innocently asked you, he was saying that while putting the vibrator on max. you mouth opened while looking at mark's eyes. mark kept his smile while watching your orgasm face. he's doing unholy inside but worth it. he off the vibrator.
unfortunately all you can hear mark's father but can't understand it. you're still in ecstasy.
"my friends and family, it's not about finding the right person, it is becoming the right person, and if both partners think this way even the wrong shadows will be lighted by understanding. it's like saying i am the right person for the right person. tell this to your partner."
"i am the right person for the right person." mark whispered into your ears.
"hmm? what?" you weakly said. your eyes still closed. mark just chuckled and kissed your forehead.
"nothing." then put the vibrator to max.
"mark!" you screamed and everyone turned their heads towards you. you blood went down to your feet and nervously smile. "i- love your son sir..." you embarrassingly confessed. mark was trying to suppress his laugh while the people around you awed.
"and that's an example of my preach today."
you glared at mark, he just grinned and kiss your love.
"i love you too." he said.
"i want to smack you in the head." you angrily said. he just laughed.

Sitting alone in your home office with a mug of coffee in your hand, you shuffled through the heap of unopened mail you found upon your return from your last expedition: advertising brochures, leaflets, bills and, at the bottom of the stack, a cream-coloured paper envelope with slightly torn edges.
Prompted by curiosity, you put down the mug and opened the letter with an old knife you kept in the first drawer: it was typewritten, dated 25th of September and signed at the bottom by a certain Elizabeth Williams.
As your eyes scanned the page, the words “spatial coordinates” and the phrase “writings and symbols no one has been able to decipher” made your eyes widen and your interest spike. Your work as an archaeologist had given you the opportunity to travel the world, discover different types of artifacts and ruins, get closer to cultures and their ancient origins; but something inside of you, a feeling in your gut, was telling you that what was described in the letter was unique and, possibly, something you had never seen before.
Without giving it a second thought, you dialed the phone number scribbled underneath the signature and waited with bated breath as you began fidgeting with a pen, clicking it open with every beeping sound coming from the other side.
“Hello?” a calm tone greeted you.
“Mrs. Williams?” you asked, clearing your throat.
“Yes, it’s me.”
“Hi, I’m-”
“I know who you are, I’ve been waiting for your call.” the woman said with a smile in her voice.
“Oh,” you gasped, “I... received your letter and I would love to hear more about this artifact you mention.”
“Great. I’ll have someone pick you up tomorrow morning at 9 sharp.”
“Thanks, Mrs Williams,” you nodded, “do I… have to bring anything?”
“Your knowledge will be sufficient, my dear.”
Once you both ended the call, you took a deep breath and closed your eyes, feeling anxious and impatient for what was about to come and reliving the exact same sensations you had experienced the day of your very first excavation.
After a sleepless night, you were awakened by the furious pitter patter of heavy rain against the windows. The dark grey of the sky made every room of your house incredibly cold and humid, and you put on your favorite cardigan as you dragged your feet into the kitchen to prepare something for breakfast.
When you finished eating, you took a quick shower and got dressed in your favorite black pencil skirt and a white blouse, a matching blazer and a pair of heels completed the look. You took a seat on the couch in your living room and waited for the driver.
At 9AM there was a knock at your front door, and you immediately grabbed your blazer and your purse and walked over to it.
“Good morning, Miss,” the driver bowed his head a little and extended his gloved hand to you while opening a black umbrella with the other. “Please, follow me. Mrs. Williams and her colleagues are waiting for you.”
You put your hand in his as he walked you over to the sedan; he opened the car door and waited for you to get in, shutting it swiftly once you got comfortable in the cream leather back seat.
After a two hours drive, the car stopped in front of a wired mesh and barbed wire fence, lined with several “Military Zone” signs. A couple of seconds later, the guarded gates opened with a screech, letting the car enter what looked like a tunnel carved inside of a mountain.
The driver pulled up in front of a large white door with soldiers on either side, where an elderly woman waited with crossed arms.
“Goodmorning my dear,” the woman stepped towards you. “I’m Elizabeth. Welcome to the Falls Hill military installation.”
She hugged you tightly and you stiffened at first, looking at the two soldiers, whose eyes were fixed on a point in front of them.
“Come, I’ll show you around.”
One of the guards stepped to the side and held the door open for you and Mrs. Williams. The large corridor that extended in front of you reminded you of a war bunker: it was grey and cold, illuminated by pale neon lights, and it had the same distinctive smell you would find in the subway.
You followed her obediently, and when she reached the end of the corridor, she slowly opened a set of double doors bearing an "Authorized Personnel Only" sign; taking a step forward, your mouth dropped open in wonder as soon as you laid eyes on what looked like a giant stone ring covered with strange inscriptions.
“I've never seen anything like this,” you gulped, keeping your eyes fixed on the object.
Mrs. Williams chuckled, pleased at your reaction. “No one has, my dear.”
“Can I…?” you asked in a trembling voice as you pointed at the artifact.
Elizabeth nodded and you walked over to it, placing your hand on the rough surface of the stone to feel the engraved characters under your fingers.
“These inscriptions,” you started, turning to her, “might be hieratic or maybe cuneiform, I think I've seen some of those symbols before.”
“Perhaps you could help us with the interpretation?” she moved to stand beside you and tilted her head to the side, looking at you expectantly.
“Yeah, of course. I'll get to work right away.”
The hours passed quickly, and between one cup of coffee and another, it was already evening. The succession of symbols and characters engraved in the stone kept repeating in your mind, a mix of infinite combinations and interpretations, from the most logical to the least plausible.
Wrinkling your eyes for tiredness, you looked up from all your papers and notes, finding a new possible interpretation of the second row that made your heart race.
“Mrs. Williams, was anything else found in the proximity of this object?”
“I was hoping you'd ask me,” she smiled and motioned you to follow her.
Elizabeth led you through a hallway and stopped in front of another door, resting both hands on the opening handle.
“You are not to speak of this to anyone, understand?”
You simply nodded, your breath catching in your throat at her request.
“Mrs. Williams, I haven't issued any new authorization papers for this lady.” a baritone voice captured your attention, and you turned around only to find a soldier in uniform staring back at you.
“Colonel Shaw, it's nice to see you again,” Elizabeth greeted him with a gentle smile, but the man looked at her with a serious and impenetrable gaze.
“Mrs. Williams, I don't think I'll have to remind you that what's inside this room is classified.” he walked over to the both of you, his expression unfazed.
“She's the new addition to my team, Colonel,” she said, looking him straight into his icy blue eyes, “a world-renowned archaeologist who is going to help us decipher the inscriptions on the stone ring.”
“Exactly. Then why are you here?” he glanced at you out of the corner of his eye.
“Because,” you cleared your throat “the second row of inscriptions refers to another object, described as the portal.”
The Colonel raised an eyebrow at you and sighed, then looked at Elizabeth.
“Permission denied.”
“Excuse me, Colonel Shaw. I was told you would have given me carte blanche, especially since the government authorized this project,” she stepped towards him with her usual calm tone.
“Not for long,” he retorted, “you have one more week Mrs. Williams, the clock is ticking. And since she doesn't have any authorization at the moment, I won't grant her access into this room.”
“Then I guess I'll have to ask Captain Gallo,” she crossed her arms. “See, he was the one who helped us get started with this project and I'm sure he would authorize this young lady in a heartbeat.”
The Colonel exhaled angrily, his jaw was clenched in frustration and you smiled to yourself.
“Fine,” he said through gritted teeth “You have my permission.”
6 days later
Staring at the portal, the inscripted characters on dark metal and stone looked so similar to something you had seen before, but also so different. You felt intimidated by that object, almost in awe, it was as if it gave off vibrations within the room, as if it wanted to give you clues to solve that riddle that had been keeping you and the rest of the team awake for days.
“Morning guys,” Elizabeth walked into the research lab with a box of donuts, “I brought something to eat.”
“Thanks,” you beamed at her as you took a glazed donut from the container. “I really needed something with sugar.”
“How is the research going?”
“Bad,” Linda, one of the members of the team, shook her head, “no matches whatsoever.”
“Is that so?” Elizabeth turned to you, her expression somber.
“Yeah,” you sighed, “even if the inscriptions look familiar to us, when comparing them to all the material we have available, we found no similarities. We’re missing something and tomorrow is the last day.”
“I’m gonna ask for a permit extension, I'm sure they'll grant it to me,” she stroked your back, comforting you.
“I found another reference!” Linda squealed with excitement “Shall we start with the comparison?”
“Absolutely,” you rushed to her side and took a seat on the corner of her desk, looking at the monitor of her computer.
The documents she had just found showed incredible similarities, and referred to an engraved metal fragment found a few months earlier in the Atacama Desert.
“These three symbols are exactly the same ones of the central row!” you exclaimed, not believing your eyes.
Linda nodded, then gulped, “They also say here that they found out some symbols represent a stylized version of constellations, and that this type of metal is not…”
“Terrestrial,” you added as you kept on reading the description under one of the pictures.
Mrs. Williams looked at the both of you with a proud smile, then she walked over to the other desk and dialed a number on the phone.
“Captain, we finally found a match for the inscriptions.”

Chapter 10
TW: Mentions of blood
Words Count: 1.4k

Tumblr media
Don’t cry. You chant to yourself a thousand times through each step. You continue walking, though at some point you stop to take off your heels once you feel like your feet couldn’t take it anymore. Sighing, you continue walking barefooted.
It seems like a very long walk. You’re extremely exhausted, physically and mentally, your feet are screaming in pain from walking barefoot in the cold and through the rough gravel.
But you made it. Alas, you made it home. You almost cry in relief once you arrive at the doorstep. You were on the verge of collapsing yet you made it upstairs and into the bathroom and strip yourself naked immediately before climbing into the bath tub.
You cry for a long time in the tub. You brush your own skin so roughly as if that could erase Minhyuk’s touches on you until your skin is all red. You cry for another hour after that before you finally climb out of the tub reluctantly when the water’s starting to turn cold.
You really don’t have the energy or the strength or the mood to cook dinner but you still force yourself and dragged your aching feet to the kitchen. You cried again in the kitchen, alone and it left you feeling pathetic more than ever. You thought the miseries in your life ended yet one thing keeps coming after another.
You’re too absorbed in your own thoughts that you jump when you hear someone calling your name. You turn to see Jimin, still in his work attire.
Flustered, you turn back around immediately, blink your eyes several times and wipe whatever remaining liquid on your cheeks dry.
You clear your throat first before speaking. “Have a seat. Your dinner’s ready.”
You almost half expect him to refuse and say he’d shower first. You wished he would so you could have a bit more time to calm down.
But instead, he takes his seat and just silently watches you so you try your best not to trip over anything or crumble under his intent stare.
You want to leave immediately but Jimin just glares at you so you silently sit and fill the plate as little as you can and start eating or more like, forking at your own food.
Silence with Jimin is mostly bearable these days with him, almost comfortable even. But today there’s almost none of it. It’s almost unbearable.
“Did anything happen to you at the office today?” He asks, breaking the silence.
You freeze. Could he possibly- no. He wouldn’t. You remember Minhyuk’s words and he couldn’t have possibly known. So you shake your head slowly, looking down at your plate.
He sighs. He waits for a long time before speaking again. “Why didn’t you tell me you’re being harassed at work?”
You look up at him, eyes widening. “How did you kn-“
“Are you fucking stupid?” He suddenly bellows at you making you flinch. “Why did you go and see him? Were you asking for it?”
You eyes water immediately, never in your life have you felt so unfairly accused, not even when your brother throws accusing words of things you didn’t do.
Maybe because it’s Park Jimin. Because it’s him. That it breaks your heart into pieces when he says it.
For a split second, he just stares at you angrily before turning softer once he sees you cry.
“I didn’t ask for it.” You say through watery eyes.
He sighs. “I’m- sorry.” Then he looks at you. “Nevermind that. Why didn’t you fucking tell me?”
You flinch again then swallows. “I.. I’m scared you wouldn’t believe me.”
He scoffed. “So you think I’d just let anyone touch my property? Don’t come for work anymore.”
Your eyes widen and without knowing it, you reach forward and grab his hand. “No! No please- please I swear I’d do everything to avoid him. Just please, I.. want to work with you-“ you stop mid sentence. You slowly withdraw the hand that clutched his. What you meant to say was the workplace was the only place you could talk with him.. place you can find similar topics to talk about..
For the briefest moment, you think you see his gaze softening but it‘s too short a span of time to be sure. “Fine. Don’t come running to me if something happens.”
And he leaves the dining room and storms out. You cry again.
Once you’ve calmed down, you don’t even bother to clean the dishes, you’ll do it tomorrow and gets up to head upstairs but groans loudly when you feel aching pain from the sole of your feet.
You really need to sit down and assess the severeness of the wound on your feet after this. You have a feeling it’s bad enough seeing that you’re having trouble taking steps properly without wincing.
You made it upstairs eventually after much difficulty. Jimin wasn’t in the bedroom, you assume he’s in his study. You are just sitting on the edge of your bed when your eyes catch the liquid glinting on the floor.
Blood?
At the exact same time, the doors open and Jimin appears holding something you can’t quite ascertain yet and you immediately plant your feet to the floor and pull it backwards as if to hide them. He approaches you, sits himself beside you and doesn’t utter a single thing when he leans down to grab your ankle and forces your feet up on his lap.
“Jimin what are y-“
“You don’t realize there’s blood from each of your step right to the door of the bathroom when you enter the house, did you?”
You still and completely muted because you’re barely processing it yourself. You finally take notice that Jimin brought first-aid kits to treat you. He holds your ankle firmly and starts wiping the blood clean with tissue.
You must’ve stepped on sharp things at one point but too tired to notice or feel the pain anymore under your feet.
You look at your husband who’s entirely engrossed in treating your wounds. He’s unfairly handsome in his white shirt, you think.
“I can do it myself-“ you start to move your feet but then Jimin grabs it back twice harder.
“Hold fucking still.” He grunts and you almost want to laugh.
As someone who lives in the dangerous world, Jimin is very familiar with blood. Although he’s been married to you and he did almost everything to hide the dark part of his life from you, he doesn’t dismiss the fact that someone might just come up and do something to you. And when he comes home earlier and saw blood on each step towards the house, his blood runs cold immediately. Did some enemy of his sniffs about you? Did they decide to come and take you because they want something from him? You were all on his mind until he hears noises in the kitchen, his heart pounding fiercely until he finally sees you, cooking and preparing his meal as if everything’s normal.
She’s fine.
He lets out a relieved sigh and a long breath, one he didn’t know he’s been holding. Once he realises that, he doesn’t know what to think. He cared for you, more than he lets on.
“Thank you.” You say softly once he’s done. He doesn’t say anything but just hands you a pill. “What’s this?”
He reaches beside you towards the side table and pours an empty water from the jug and hands the glass to you. “Painkiller.”
You take the glass from him and stares briefly at the pill. “You seem to have a lot of them.” You say, remembering one of the early encounters with him and him giving you the painkillers. Doesn’t seem much different from now.
“Yeah and you will keep having to swallow them if you don’t know how to take care of yourself and doesn’t stop being stupid.” He hisses at you and you recoil instantly. He gets up immediately and then leaves you feeling worse at yourself again.
You wake up the next morning with sunlight shining brightly on your face that you sits up almost immediately. What time is it?
You mean to glance at the clock on bedside table but finds a note there.
Don’t come for work. Rest or I’ll knock you off again myself.
It’s not a sweet message. It isn’t. But why the hell do you feel flutters in your stomach?
You finally glance at the clock. It’s already 11AM- did you really sleep through all the morning? You grab the packet of pills Jimin gave you last night and stares at it suspiciously.
Temazepam.
Frowning, you reach for your phone and googled the word.
Temazepam is a medication used to treat trouble sleeping-
Your freaking husband gave you a sleeping pill. For the first time ever, you feel like punching your own husband.

Page 9
Miran's mom: In the Japanese Music Department, all the children play koto, isn't that right? And they are all extremely good at it, aren't they..?
Kifune-sensei: Not only the koto. How to put it-
Kifune-sensei: The most proficient children from all over the country converge there.
Miran's mom: And you believe that Miran...
Kifune-sensei: --And so.
Kifune-sensei: I believe that Miran's abilities are now on par to that level.
Page 10
Kifune-sensei: Miran-chan has avoided playing in ensembles and listening to kids her own age play until now, hasn't she?
Kifune-sensei: Of course, it's not like that is a bad thing.
Kifune-sensei: --However.
Kifune-sensei: Here's a path that I believe will expand your world, is what I'm trying to say.
Kifune-sensei: And I'd like to guide you through it while I'm at it.
Miran [thoughts]: The path that Sensei has thought so hard about, for my sake...
Miran [thoughts]: It's scary, but...
Miran [thoughts]: If it's the current me, then----...!!
Miran: I... Mom...!
Miran's mom: !
Page 11
Miran's mom: ...
Miran's mom: ---Yes. You can go if you want, Miran.
Kifune-sensei: Fu. I'm glad.
Kifune-sensei: Ah, but the fact that you are my particular student makes it that I can't give you any special treatment. From now on you will have to study very hard!
Miran: Yes!
[Memory ends]
Kifune-sensei: From here on, there are the practice rooms.
Kifune-sensei: If you ask for permission, you can use them whenever you want.
Page 12
Miran [thoughts]: Amazing... I get to play koto in such a wonderful place.
Miran [thoughts]: This is the place where I belonged all along.
Page 13
Miran[thoughts]: Eh...?
Kifune-sensei: Oh my, this sound...
Miran [thoughts]: Wo- woaah.
Miran [thoughts]: Incredible. What a beautiful sound...
Miran [thoughts]: The clarity and sound are by far the best I've ever heard.
Miran [thoughts]: Is it a teacher? A Senpai? Could I get to produce this kind of sound myself?
Kifune-sensei: Aah, as I thought.

Luka: Kifune-sensei!
Kifune-sensei: Luka-kun, you've gotten to use the practice room right away, I see. And well? How do you like it?
Luka: I love it!
Miran [thoughts]: Wha-
Miran[thoughts]: What is this guy...? An angel...? No, maybe a prince...?
Kifune-sensei: Ah, Miran-chan. This is Luka Chevalier-kun.
Kifune-sensei: He is a scholarship student from France.
Kifune-sensei: Like you, he is also a new student and a first year in the Japanese Music Department.
Page 17
Miran [thoughts]: Scholarship... First-year...?
Luka: Nice to meet you! I'm Luka Chevalier. Umm... And you are---
Miran: Eh- ah... I'm... Sa- Saotome Miran.
Luka: Miran! That's such a beautiful name.
Miki [memory]: Miran!
Miran: ...Your- your Japanese is really good...
Miran [thoughts]: What am I even saying..?
Luka: Really!? Thank you!
Luka: The sound of Japanese is so beautiful, that after listening to it every day I was able to speak it.
Page 18
Miran: ...
Miran: ...That's amazing...
Miran [thoughts]: ...this is
Miran [thoughts]: Someone the same age as me...?
Imari: Hanahata Imari. I placed 2nd in the Koto National Contest in the Middle School category.
Tougo: Takamura Tougo. I won that same contest and came in 2nd the next year.
Kio: Houshou Kio. I am the seventh generation of the Akane Association Yamada Style Koto School. *
*If Satowa comes from the Hozuki Clan, Kio comes from the Akane Association. These families own Koto Schools.
Luka: I'm Luka Chevalier! When I was 10 I went on a trip to Japan. I met with the Koto for the first time, and fell in love with it!
Miran [thoughts]: When he was 10... same as me...
Luka: I am very happy I get to learn the koto in Japan!
Page 19
Imari: Didn't you win the Grand Prize at the International Music Competition last year?
Luka: You know about that? I'm so happy! Thank you!
Miran [thoughts]: International... Music Competition...
Miran [thoughts]: Grand Prize...
Luka: Is Miran's turn next.
Miran: Eh? Ah-
Miran: I- I'm Saotome Miran.
Miran: ...
Miran: ...
Miran [thoughts]: --Ah... What do I do?
Miran [thoughts]: I've done nothing.
Page 20
Kio: Could it be that Kifune-sensei's apprentice that I've been hearing about... Is it you?
Miran: Eh- ah- Yes.
Kio: Haha So you got in through connections.
Miran[thoughts]: ---Eh...? Wha...
Kifune-sensei: Before there are any misunderstandings, let me make something clear.
Kifune-sensei: Miran-kun is indeed my apprentice but she went through the entrance exams and passed them accordingly.
Kifune-sensei: And just because she is my apprentice doesn't mean she will be receiving any special treatment.
Page 21
Kio: I know that. I was just joking, I'm sorry.
Miran [sfx]: Ba-dump...
Luka: Kifune-sensei rarely takes apprentices. That's incredible, Miran!
Luka: I'm very much looking forward to hearing your sound!!
Miran: Kuh...
Miran [thoughts]: ---...What is this
Miran[thoughts]: What
Page 22
Miran [thoughts]: This place is not different from where I was before---
Kifune-sensei: Miran-kun!
Kifune-sensei: Are you alright?
Miran[sfx]: ba-dump ba-dump
Miran[thoughts]: I- I'm fine, sorry.
Miran: That's right. I'm ok.
Miran[thoughts]: I'm ok.
Miran[thoughts]: Sensei recognized my ability. The school recognized it. I'm ok.
Miran[thoughts]: I didn't get in through connections. I'll prove it to them.
Page 23
Miran[thoughts]: Woah, everyone is so good.
Miran[thoughts]: That should be obvious. Only people of the highest level play here.
Miran[thoughts]: Ensembles are difficult. I feel like I'm always one step behind.
Miran[thoughts]: I have to practice more. More. More.
Kifune-sensei: The solo part will be played by Luka-kun.
Luka: Yes!
Miran[thoughts]: Once again, I got the easiest part...
Miran[thoughts]: It's as if
Page 24
Miran[thoughts]: It's as if this is what it would be like if big sis had encountered the koto instead of me
Miran[thoughts]: Stop. Don't think that.
Miran[thoughts]: It's ok. I just have to prove it. I just have to practice more than anyone else and become the best.
Miran[thoughts]: I definitely won't lose. For sure. Without a doubt.
Miran[thoughts]: He is the solo once again. Damn it. Next time, then.
Miran[thoughts]: I lost again. Next time. Next time. Next time.
Miran[thoughts]: I did it! Finally, I won the solo part.
Miran[thoughts]: He's got a cool face, and he doesn't even look like he's frustrated at all.
Miran[thoughts]: Is like he doesn't notice me at all.
Miran[thoughts]: And still, he plays brightly during the performance.
Miran[thoughts]: He wants to overtake the leading role. Don't make fun of me.
Luka: I can't believe it!! The real one!! My Goddess!! Satowa!!
Page 25
Miran[thoughts]: And then the person he admires showed up.
Miran[thoughts]: And that person who has the Prince's admiration seems to be someone who is preciously protected.
Miran: Again
Miran[thoughts]: A woman who seems to be blessed with everything
Miran[thoughts]: Why?
Miran[thoughts]: Why do you get to have everything?
Page 26
Miran[thoughts]: Why did it have to be the koto?
Miran[thoughts]: There are so many other paths.
Miran[thoughts]: And yet
Kifune-sensei[memory]: The solo part won't be played by Miran-kun, but by Luka-kun.
Miran[thoughts]: For me, there's only the koto.
Miran: That's right... For me, there's nothing but the koto...
Page 27
Miran[thoughts]: I have to get it back.
Kio: Is Miran-san still shutted-in?
Tougo: It has been a week already.
Kio: Isn't this really bad? If things continue like this, she won't be able to participat-
Luka: !!
Kio(?): Miran-san!
Luka: Phew... Miran...!
Page 28
Luka: I'm so glad you came back! Everyone was worried about you---
Imari: Hey, hold on.
Imari: That's the tuning for the solo part. You are playing the 3rd koto part...
Miran: I will play the solo.
Imari: ---What...?
Miran: I've come up with a new way to play it. Even Kifune-sensei will approve when he--
Imari: Are you messing with me? Just for how long are you not going to look around you?
Imari: They take the solo away from you one time, and you start cursing and throwing insults at Luka.
Miran: Shut up!! It's not only "one time"---
Imari: I haven't gotten to play a solo. Not even once!!
Page 29
Imari: And it's not only me, it's the same for Tougo and Kio!
Imari: You didn't even realize that, did you? You are always thinking "If I compare myself to Luka", so you aren't even interested in the rest of us, huh!?
Imari: The three of us have been playing the koto from as far as we can remember. Playing every single day, participating in tournaments and earning achievements.
Imari: And yet, you and Luka, who started playing later, get to play the solo parts?
Imari: Do you think we don't care about that!? Just what did you take us for!!??
Page 30
Imari: It's so freaking frustrating, isn't that obvious!!
Imari: On top of that, you just treat us like we are just some background characters and don't care about us at all! And still!
Page 31
Imari: And still, an ensemble is not only one person!
Imari: You and Luka are good. It frustrates me, but I get it. We are trying to do our best with the parts given to us!!
Imari: Luka was assigned the solo part in your place. Did you think I was just going to be happy for him like a moron?
Imari: As if!!
Imari: Everyone has their own thoughts and feelings about all of this!
Imari: You are not the only one suffering and in distress!!
Imari: Did that not even occur to you!?
Page 32
Imari[sfx]: Pant pant
Imari: Ugh...
Miran: Ah...
Luka: Imari.
Kio: Imari-san...
Miran: Um... I...
Imari: ...What you are missing
Imari: Is not skill, is not talent, and is not practice!
Page 33
Imari: It's imagination!

The New Compound, July 2025, 7:09pm
      The extra hour of sunlight this time of year was the easiest excuse to use for lounging on the roof to watch the sun set slowly. The compound no longer touches the clouds, but it still provides a rich view of the landscape across. There is no blowing of horns or shouts of the road hecklers; it’s a simple hour of solace to rest your chin against your arms, eat your snacks, and watch the sky change colors until nothing remains but the possibility of counting the stars.
“Hey… can I sit here?”
Your heart does a little jump at the sound of his voice. Traitor, you want to say to the pesky organ, but remain quiet as Steve wanders over to stand by you. He’s close enough that you can feel the warmth radiating from his body.
“Do what you will, Captain.” It’s simple enough of a response, you figure. You look down at the granola bar in your hand, turning it over a few times before rolling your eyes at the silly gesture. “Granola bar?”
He nods, watching as you snap it in half, and grabs the piece. “Thanks.”
You eat in cooperative silence. You take small bites, saving the granola bar so you have something to focus on during the length of time Steve decides to stay up here. He seems to be doing the same. “So what brings you out here? Another depressive episode?”
“I happen to have the perfect amount of depressive episodes, thank you very much.”
You snort, “Ditto.”
He takes a small bite and rolls the granola over his tongue. “No, I uh… I actually came out here to watch the sunset.”
“That’s sweet.” You shrug and admit your reason to him without a second thought. “I came out here to be sad, so.”
“Thor’s visit isn’t doing you any good?”
Thor is genuinely looking better. He’s started braiding his hair again, exercising with the help of Quill and Bruce, and participating in conversation without being addressed first. Seeing him makes you happy, but there’s still a glint in his eyes that reminds you of the lowest point of his life. And his lowest point was also yours. Sometimes you just want to forget. “He looks better. Healthier, got some light back in his eyes. It’s just whenever we look at each other we think of the same thing, I guess.”
Steve hums low and his shoulder brushes yours. “Loki.”
“It’s good to reminisce and all but I’ve got my limits,” you say.
“What was the special connection between you and Loki anyway?”
You grin at such an innocent question. Steve had never been close to Loki, didn’t really like him much, but he tolerated the God wandering about. You figure he genuinely wants to know. “I met him a little bit before I was assaulted. Everyone in the compound had their suspicions but no one asked. It was like they were avoiding me but also trying to help, I don’t really know. It was a weird time. And Loki, after we caught that dragon thing and really, really properly met, just straight up asked me why I was so distant all of a sudden.” Your chest warms at the memory.  “I told him. And you know what the first thing he said to me was?”
Steve shakes his head a little and his eyes follow the tilt of your mouth. “‘What a cunt’.”
He startles himself into a laugh, the rough word not expected. You continue, “It was the first time I laughed in four months.”
Steve follows your gaze out to the sunset. He suddenly feels guilty, out of the loop, sad. You had only mentioned your assault to him once when you discovered Tony’s afterlife gifts, and he never brought it up again. “I’m sorry I didn’t notice you were-”
“Bucky had just moved into the tower and all of your attention was on him. I don’t blame you for not seeing me.”
It’s true, but Steve doesn’t forgive himself. He’s had two years to check up on you and because of his own selfish choice, he’s let you slip from his fingers. A question bubbles from the back of his mind — one that he doesn’t think twice about finally asking. If he does, he won’t ask.  “Do you miss… me?”
“That’s a stupid question.”
“Sam put the idea in my head and—”
You sigh, “Steve, it’s the fact that he had to put the idea in your head. I can lie and say I’ve been all fine and dandy, or I can tell the truth and say I’ve been all fine and dandy. Take your pick.”
Steve stares at you for a long moment, mouth parting around invisible words. You’re staring at the sunset, avoiding his gaze but aware of his eyes on you, and he misses you. He truly, terribly, misses you. He decides he’s got nothing more to lose — he’s already lost you. “Well, I miss you. Do with that what you will.”
The two of you sit in silence for a few minutes: wind in your ears, legs shifting when too much weight has been applied, tiny sniffs of the nose. You don’t really know what to do with that information. Steve misses you. And you miss him. But he doesn’t deserve to know that. There’s been no apology from him, just things he’ll do to appease Sam.
At the three minute mark, you groan quietly and turn to him. “Are you seriously still going to watch the sunset up here?”
Steve smirks and watches you from his peripheral. He really has missed being on the receiving end of your various tones of voices. “I have been told that I’m impossible to get rid of, so yeah.”
His company isn’t all that bad.
Present Day, 2025, 9:07am
      Perhaps there were good things that came from being locked up for over two weeks, alone. Last time you were locked up with the team and there was absolutely no special treatment after that. Now you’re resisting the urge to burst out laughing as Steve piles on the seventh massive pancake on your plate; or rolling your eyes as Sam keeps asking if you want more maple syrup — ‘What flavor? We’ve got six!’ — and Peter’s drowning Bucky with questions about who he encountered at the wedding.
“Is it the same as Netflix Narcos?”
“No,” you say bluntly.
“Is the Amazon series legit? Like, did Omar really kill the DEA agent?”
“No.”
“Is Omar as evil as they say?”
“No.”
“Damn,” Peter groans, piling a forkful of pancakes into his mouth. “Nothing’s as exciting as it seems, huh?”
Everyone looks to him, then to each other.
Steve clears his throat, “I was literally shot.”
Mouth full, you follow. “And I was abused for years.”
“And I had to deal with them while with HYDRA,” Bucky says with his mouth full too.
“Man, they shot at me. That counts,” Sam adds.
“And I finally got to use the shield. While being shot at,” Scott says.
You interject, “Technically I was being shot at.”
Even with such a cloud of violence, with gruesome memories — memories that would just be shoveled into the pile of things that no one is ever going to talk about again  — you all begin laughing. Poor Peter missed out on a lot, but he can put two and two together. He knows this is his only chance to ask before you all lock it away and call it just another mission. It doesn’t hurt to humor him.
And even though you won’t mention it to any one else unless they ask — this wasn’t just another mission for you or Steve. Things have changed and the both of you know it. The aches within your chest are no longer negative or a bother, but instead are blooming flowers that have laid dormant for years. You’ve been plucking petals for as long as the two of you can remember, and it’s about damn time you both end up on the same page.
Everything has been quiet. Sure, there are bounties on everyone’s head but when is there not? You’ve pissed off more cartel leaders and gang leaders and political enemies than you can count on two hands, so this enemy territory is not all that foreign. You recognize the high trees, the gray skies, the mud beneath your boots. But you’ve got friends on your team that know how to climb those trees; friends on your team that know how to move the clouds and make the sky the talk; friends on your team that would hump through mud and snow watching your six.
You can’t believe you even thought about leaving after the mission in the first place. This is where you belong, where all of you belong, because you’re the only ones with good hearts who qualify for the job.
As breakfast winds down, Steve takes the opportunity to sprinkle in moments of long-awaited public displays of affection. When you go to refill your orange juice, he sneaks a kiss on your cheek. When you go to wash your plate, he makes sure Peter is looking the other way before patting your ass. And when you’re the one to envelope his slim waist from behind, he melts in your combined warmth.
“So, about our date,” Steve inquires, cheeks turning pink but voice unwavering. He looks brand new, refreshed, and there’s a shine in his eyes that you haven’t seen since forever. You can’t remember the last time you have, but you figure it must have been back when the world hadn’t yet swallowed him whole. Now, he’s burning bright with the youth his soul has missed.
You jump up and down, “Ooo, exciting!”
Steve takes you by the waist, swinging you in every direction. It’s uncoordinated, messy, and not exactly dancing but it’s pure. “Chinese? Pizza? Just fries?”
“¿Por qué no los tres?” Pursing your lips, you wait for his answer.
“That can be arranged.”
You gasp dramatically, “You’re spoiling me.”
“Well I have two years to make up for it.”
That startles a laugh from deep inside your chest. “That’s gonna be our inside joke now, huh? Two of the worst years of our lives and we’re joking about it.”
He blushes along with you. “I think that describes our relationship perfectly.”
“Our relationship…” Your voice comes out like a melodic whisper and Steve feels it in his bones.
He grins down at you but before he can respond, someone enters the common room rather cautiously.
“Oh, now what the hell are you doing here?” Steve demands, pushing you to stand behind him. The gesture is nice, but completely unnecessary. Friday would have alerted the team if someone entered the grounds armed.
Agent Kavert raises his hands, “Relax. I’m not here to arrest you or anything.”
Steve tries to move his shoulders in a way where Agent Kavert can’t see your head. But you maneuver around him, somehow ending up peeking your head through Steve’s underarm. “If I know the law, and I think I do, you can’t really arrest someone in their own house anyway, right?” You pat Steve repeatedly on his side. “Right?”
Before Steve can respond, Agent Kavert speaks. With Steve guarding you, it seems the only thing Agent Kavert wants to do is get in and get out as fast as he can. “I just came to apologize. Ballistics came back and the evidence does show that you didn’t kill Ernesto Vega. It was Ramirez’s issued gun.”
Yeah, you think. The gun Seda stole.
“Oh, what a breath of relief! I almost forgot I was there.”
He sighs and his lips pull into a small smile. “You’re not gonna tell me where Ramirez is, huh?”
Steve takes this as his cue to leave you two alone, but not before squeezing your hand on his way out. He nods over to Peter, who’s still crouching in the kitchen, unseen by Kavert. Peter gives him an enthusiastic thumbs up,  happy to spy for his Captain. But you know he’s really asking Peter to take care of you while he’s gone.
You let out a heavy sigh. Omar has been wanted for years for another murder he didn’t even commit. And now, he’s wanted for another. He may be a giant with morals, but even he can’t escape the gruesome reality that plagues the wicked.
“I don’t even know where he is. If you came looking for answers—”
“No, I just… Everything’s been so fucked up since half the universe came back. And the possibility of an Avenger being bad, having played us for years — I think it just scared a lot of people.” Agent Kavert actually looks sincere. He adjusts his footing and chuckles a little under his breath. There’s a fine line creasing his forehead, but it isn’t formed from stress. He’s smiling, an honest look, and his eyebrows pull inward. “And Shakespeare? Really?”
Rolling your eyes, you shrug and lean back against the counter. “When half the world disappears and takes your family and friends with it, there’s really not much else to do.”
And besides, Loki was really into Shakespeare.
You continue, deciding at the last second to throw Agent Kavert a bone about your past. “Shield didn’t know but Nick Fury did. So did Pierce. And when Shield fell, Fury just hid it even more.” You give him a half smile. “We weren’t helping the cartel. We were slowly taking it apart.”
Agent Kavert nods, thinking it over. “The deal Jackeline made with us was pretty simple. She’d tell us all the inside secrets that she knew and in exchange, no charges against her and none so serious for you.”
Your shoulders slump and you shoot him a blank stare. “Was it really that simple? Like, I could have just used her as my one free call?”
“Joke all you want. You should have called us when Shield fell. The double agent thing was risky and everyone needs help taking down a giant like that.”
“I did have help. Involving more people was never planned.”
“He was just as much our mission as he was yours.”
Agent Kavert, as sorry as he looks, still doesn’t seem to get it. But that’s fine, you think. Not everyone can. And you’re not in the mood to argue anymore. “No… he wasn’t.”
He seems to read your mind because he simply accepts your answer. “I really am sorry for accusing you. And for the government arresting you alone and letting the white man go free.”
A tiny snort tickles your nostrils. Agent Kavert is white, and it’s even more amusing considering he’s being serious. “Thanks… I guess.”
He turns to leave, seemingly normal, until he spins on his heel and claps his hands. “Oh! And by the way — don’t leave the country. The charges of conspiracy and murder have all been dropped. But there’s evidence of drug smuggling. So, you’re on house arrest.”
Your eyes widen and you reply with a sarcastic yell. “Thanks!” He turns to leave again. “You’re fucking with me, right?”
He glances over his shoulder, “Could not have let you just get away with it. Some of that smuggling was under no order from Shield at all.”
“You know I can easily disable that ugly ass ankle bracelet you’re about to give me?”
He chuckles low, and finally waves goodbye. “Goodbye, Agent Y/LN.”
You stand dumbfounded, slightly annoyed, but you figure it’s better than actual jail time. Peter rises from his hiding spot and walks over to you, blowing air from his mouth. “Friend of yours?”
You whip around to point a finger, scream and laugh mixing into one. “No friend!”
Peter finally hears that accent Steve can’t stop talking about.
       It’s a tiny portrait, sealed in a tiny frame and hidden in a tiny room. The frame is black with professional wooden carvings that make the sides look like perfectly detailed tree trunks. It’s in between the portrait of Tony and Natasha’s bracelet. Tony wears the same AC/DC shirt Steve has somehow stolen and claimed as his own. He’s got this sarcastic grin, some type of wrench in one hand while his other rests on his hip. He stands in his lab, glasses pushed up onto his head and black soot smudged on his cheek. You think Peter snapped the photo back in 2017.
But the middle portrait is your favorite. It’s the only photo he ever allowed to be taken of him. Brushing your index finger against the glass, you trace the small outlines of Loki’s jawline, to his thin pink lips, to the bulb of his nose, to the waves of his hair. He sits caught off guard, book in his hand and in regular human clothing. He shoots a rather annoyed but joyful look over his shoulder as the camera was shoved in his face. You know for sure Wanda took that photo.
“You’re not dead,” you say as you study the blue of his frozen eyes. A God doesn’t die, you remember him saying. Loki was wrong about a lot of things, but you pray he wasn’t wrong about this. There’s a small part of you that wants to speak the same words to Tony and Natasha, but there’s only so many times the world’s axis can shift for a miracle. You tap the glass, sighing a breath of acceptance, and finally let go. “Whenever you’re ready.”
Smiling up at the ceiling, you think you’re right about this one.
      It’s quiet. The only sounds are the mild ripping of wrapping paper and small ‘thank you’s’ from the team. Everyone got each other something — granted, everyone got something small for everyone. No matter how much Tony joked about still splurging on Christmas shopping, his promises weren’t exactly kept. He’s gotten everyone things they actually need or wanted. Steve, a new drawing pad; Natasha, a bright pink knit sweater; Rhodey, a new watch; Bruce, a pair of sunglasses; Nebula, a dark blue knitted sweater that she immediately presses against her cheek, eyes focused on the ground as she savors the soft brush; you, the full collection of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets. And he finally presents the baby’s crib to Pepper, constructed three weeks after she originally asked him to.
“I know how much you like to reenact A Midsummer Night’s Dream in your room,” Tony grins at you. Biting your bottom lip, you throw yourself at him and hug him tight. He returns the hug with just as much strength, if not more.
As the night goes on and midnight rings, your small group exchanges tight-lipped merry Christmas’s and happy holidays. Natasha retires to her room, a distant look in her eyes as she says goodnight. No one knows where Clint is.
Steve nudges your elbow with his once the room empties. He holds out a box with festive wrapping — snowmen with carrots for noses and a variety of pebbled smiles. “From me and Okoye.”
“You got me a gift?”
Steve’s brow furrows as he nods like it’s obvious. “Of course. You’re my friend.”
“Well, now I feel inadequate,” you laugh. It comes out wet and it’s then that you realize you’re tearing up. “I promise to reenact Midsummer for you, okay?”
Steve chuckles, “You got it.”
You unwrap it slowly, half wondering why Steve and Okoye teamed up to get you a present. You. Your stomach churns an innocent whirl.
It’s a long sleeved vest… or sweater. You can’t really tell until you pull it from the box. It’s intricately designed and it takes a moment for you to finally see it, to finally understand, and the moment you do you exhale a wracked breath.
It’s not Wakandan fashion. It’s threaded with the colors and swirls of a place you haven’t called home in years. It has red flowers down the vest portion and multicolored rows down the sleeves and back. It’s made from a thick fabric that’s rarely used this century. Vintage — home.
“Steve…”
Steve clears his throat, “Now, I only did the flower parts. Okoye found it unfinished in… um…”
And there, where tags from brands would usually be, is a small threaded engraving.
‘From Bucky, To our muñeca.’
“He didn’t get to finish it so I thought I would — you know, help? — so it’s really from Buck. Probably an apology for not letting you visit him in Wakanda.”
Steve tries to push out a laugh at his poor joke, but you can see how he’s faltering. You reach up and wrap your arms around his neck, dragging him down so his knees bend, and pour as much nonverbal thank you’s into the hug. He hesitates at first, arms floating awkwardly, until he swallows his fear and wraps his arms around your waist. He holds you to him tightly and breathes in the sweet scent of your vanilla shampoo.
“Thank you.” Your voice is small, but Steve regards the delivery as powerful.
You wear it once, that Christmas night, enveloped in its warmth as you slept. In the morning, you hang it in the back of your closet.
        A knock on your bedroom door sounds through your headphones. Bucky peeks his head in, “Is now a bad time?”
Sitting up, you pull the headphones from your ears. “Nope. Just thinking about how I’ve lived several years in the span of one week.”
Bucky lugs in a sports bag in one hand and a manila file in the other. He places them at the edge of your bed and proceeds to bounce in the available space near you. “Yeah, that can be annoying.”
You attempt to shove him away as he tries to steal your blanket. “Did you need anything?”
“Yeah.” He lets you take it, and simply turns on his side to face you. “What’s gonna happen between you and Steve?”
It’s an innocent question, but you know Bucky well enough to notice when he’s stressed. Steve probably told him to mind his business. “We’re good.”
He inspects your face with squinted eyes, “I know what you’re thinking so cut that shit out. This isn’t one of those missions where the feelings will just go away.”
“Funny thing is, I believe you,” you admit, watching as his face does something unexpected. His smile drops suddenly, like he didn’t expect you to agree with him, and then it’s immediately back full force.
“Peggy and Steve - right person, wrong time. You and Loki - right person, wrong time. You and Steve, all those years ago — right person, wrong time.” A weird thing happens: you agree with him again. “But now, after everything — right person, right time.”
“It’s just weird feeling like it’ll actually work.”
“That makes us seem like we’re all broken, doll. We’re not.”
You turn so you’re facing him; two mismatched parentheses. “We’re just tired.”
“We’re just tired,” Bucky agrees, smiling. “I’m not saying don’t look over your shoulder whenever you feel like it. Hell, I still look over mine.”
Snorting, you roll closer to hug him. He pulls you into his chest. “You give amazing pep talks.”
“Yeah, I don’t know why they gave that trophy to Steve.” Bucky shares the intimate moment for as long as it takes before the blanket starts overheating. He groans as he sits up to retrieve the things he brought with him.  “By the way, our mutual friend sends one last warm regards.”
Bucky throws the sports bag onto your lap. “What’s this?”
“Your shit.”
You don’t even want to ask him how he packed your things without your knowledge. “Kicking me out, Barnes?”
“Clothes, toothbrush, shampoo and conditioner, pads, the quilt I just finished knitting thank you very much,” Bucky lists and hands you the file. “Maribel found him.”
“Ramirez?”
“Your dad.”
You snap your head up to look at him. Bucky expects to see anger, hurt, maybe even betrayal. He was prepared for it. But you just look confused, lost for words, maybe even scared. “Goes by Richard these days. Lives with his wife in Wisconsin, no kids, keeps to himself.”
You flip through the files, holding your breath. The file is small, Richard’s information only covering the first page, the rest just drabble. He seems relatively normal, looks normal even; normal job, normal credit score, normal upbringing. It doesn’t even seem real. You close the file and set it aside. “So you are sending me away?”
Bucky smirks, “It’s a suggestion. But I took the liberty of doing the hard part for you.”
“Yeah, because packing my lady products is the climax of this story.”
It didn’t go unnoticed that Bucky called Richard your ‘dad’. Everyone either referred to Ernesto as ‘your father’ or by his name. Steve had said ‘dad’ a few times before he met him, then he never said it again. Hell, even you did sometimes.
It’s a sweet distinction and you’re certain Bucky said it on purpose. Bucky takes your hands in his, “It’s been a long time coming. But at least we can both say that the people who hurt us can’t hurt us any longer.”
You can. You really can.
       Bucky’s already packed Steve’s shit as well. Steve’s just shoving extra socks into his bag when someone knocks on the door. He expects Bucky or Sam, final words of encouragement, but it’s Scott. And he’s standing there grinning like a mad man.
“So, what’s the verdict, Rogers? You going after her or not?”
Steve huffs a laugh, “Think you already know the answer to that, Lang.”
Scott closes the door behind him and leans back against it. He shoves his hands in his sweater pockets, “Not that it should matter, shut me up if I cross any line, but everyone supports this.”
“Weirdly, I think it does matter. We’ve had you guys picking sides for two years. Selfishly. Like we were having a fucking civil war after everything.”
“Yeah, well.”
Steve huffs a laugh. It’s always going to surprise him just how comfortable Scott is around him now. Not afraid to tease him or call him out on something he doesn’t agree with. It’s refreshing.
“I’m not giving up on her, Scott. Not again.”
Scott nods. Perhaps breaking the mission ethic code wasn’t a bad thing after all, Scott thinks. He gives Steve a proud smile, genuine. “Then I hereby declare our hanging conversation officially closed.”
        Steve wanders from his bedroom, to the conference room, to the main living room without an end destination in mind, seeming to just follow his quick feet as they lead him around the halls of the compound. He’s proud of himself, really, because he truly believes he’s learned to swallow his pride, has opened himself up to the possibility of being happy, and accepted that the world has changed and will continue to alter whether he likes it or not. He was, is, and will always be a man out of time — he’ll never fit but goddamn does he feel settled. He hasn’t felt this sane since before the war — which one? — so he relishes in the feeling for a few calm seconds.
He feels tears well-up on his water line and feels the pressure in his temples. He’s at a crossroads — both proud of himself for finally choosing the path he wants and relieved that this week, this mission he has dreaded for almost ten years, is over. He doesn’t know if he should sleep for a month or occupy his time with other things awaiting repair. A build up of five years, grief and loss and happiness all weirdly mixed into one pot, and Steve simply hasn’t noticed the improper portions of each ingredient.
It’s too much.
He thinks about his mental health. Shot to Hell, he jokes with himself. He’s already got the virtual therapy appointments scheduled. He figures he’ll get better with time and if Steve knows one thing for sure, it’s that he’s got a whole lot of that.
He thinks about Sam and Bucky and Scott — his three best friends that have gone to the ends of the Earth and back for him, and who would proudly do it all over again. He thinks about their kind words, their gentle touch, their devotion that Steve still sometimes feels he doesn’t deserve.
And he thinks about you. To anyone else, this was written in the damn stars. No, there wasn’t anything extremely obvious in the first few years. You were friends. Friends that grew to consider each other teammates. Teammates that drew a drop of blood while fighting on opposite sides. Teammates that recognized the true endgame, teammates that helped each other escape, teammates that went silent for two years. Two years of no contact, no signal of survival. Then again, teammates who stood by as their world crumbled around them. Teammates who grew to be friends again, leaning on free shoulders and seeking help through happy conversations and long nights. Friends that brought the world together again, only to rip each other from their own. Friends into the most bizarre of enemies. And enemies back to teammates.
Steve wipes a hand down his face as he fixes the strap over his shoulder. The common room is empty — he likes it this way. That means everyone is either napping, getting food, visiting friends or family, simply living life. The silence is therapeutic.
His eyes fall on a crooked picture frame near the television. He tries to ignore it, almost to the door and ready for another road trip, but he steps back. Then forward, then back again. He groans in frustration of himself and moves to turn the frame back in place, holding it for a few seconds until it stays. But as he lets go, it tilts once more. He tries again — it tilts back.
He pulls the frame from the hook and turns it over. He rightly freezes, the presence of a small pink paper airplane taped near the edge knocking the wind from his constricting lungs. He pulls it off, careful to not tear the delicate post-it.
He never found it. Natasha probably placed it behind this very picture frame in the other compound for him to find. Surely the explosion should have destroyed it — but it didn’t. It’s right here, perfectly intact, just a smudge of dirt on one of its wings. The frame hadn’t been damaged either. It’s real.
He holds the thin piece of paper like it’s the most precious thing in the world.
Steve turns it over between his fingers a few more times, before he carefully folds it back in half and puts it in his wallet. “You’ve got some nerve, Nat. But I hear ya.”
       Steve decides to write you back. He hides the letter in that sweater he knows you don’t wear anymore, in the far back of your closet, and marvels at the intricate stitching while he can. He poured his heart out, even if it’s not guaranteed you’ll ever see it.
     ‘Yes, I found your letter. I found it when I was looking for perfume in your suitcase. The tape was loose and I violated your privacy. I’m truly sorry for that.
But I felt compelled to write you back, in case the reverse happened and I died instead of you. I didn’t write it then, when you were drying your hair in front of that impossibly small mirror you so weirdly called ‘a stupid little bitch’. And you looked so beautiful. But I’m writing it now and maybe I’ll share it with you in person when we’re both ready.
When the world turned to dust, I held on to you. I know exactly why. Natasha bugged me about it also, teasing me whenever I would glance at you too long, or give you the last remaining Oreos I was planning on eating, or whenever I would leave your room in the mornings after a nightmare. She knew nothing was happening between us, but she had this smile whenever she caught me. Like she was happy I was comforting you, and in turn seeking comfort for myself.
You remember how her smile would tilt up more on the left side?
There isn’t a proper way to truly apologize for hurting you. But I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for it. You at least deserve that.
I returned a different man. And I think that was for the better.
Yes, I wanted the quiet life. I still think I do. And I think you know this — you have always seen right through me.
I now know what Natasha saw. You irritate me, you damn near make me want to choke myself out, but I care for you. We hold each other up, and I’m always rooting for you, and I’m always by your side. No matter how annoying and smart-mouthed you may be.
You’re my best friend — I hope I’m one of yours.
Steve.’
       There’s no one currently in the compound who really knows how to change the battery in your car. Bucky tries, does a rather good job too, but he claims he’s winging it and that you should call a mechanic just in case. He leaves you there with two random batteries on the ground, hood of your car open, and without any idea of what to do next. So you chill and wait for the mechanic you hope isn’t going to jack up the price just because he knows who you are.
But he doesn’t seem fazed by you at all — or at the fact he just had to drive through countless checkpoints and security checks just to get on Avengers property. He changes the battery and changes the oil, hooking you up with as many upgrades he can. He even offers to wash it until you thank him repeatedly and that Really, really, you don’t have to do that. Thank you so much!
“Quite a garage you got here.”
There are unfinished projects and random wires falling from the ceiling and enough tools to supply five garages. It’s messy, but it was Tony’s. You accept the compliment and see him out.
“Eh, make sure those windshield wipers work. I hear it’s gonna rain tomorrow.”
You thank him again. The clouds to the west are gray, getting darker as the expanse stretches, but from where you’re standing everything’s blue. You figure the mechanic was right: it’s gonna rain, and it’s gonna rain hard.
The mechanic did good, all things considered. You never thought your old, beat-up Honda could look a few years younger. You flick one of the wipers lightly, testing its strength. It holds, as does the other, but when you go to lift it up it stops halfway. Without wanting to break it, you don’t force it. There’s something blocking the switch.
You grab it before it can accidentally fall into a deep slot; the figurehead of a man, curly hair and beard that matches Steve’s, who also has a prominent and strong nose. You turn the coin over a few times before looking around the garage, down the street, at the remote area where the mechanic has just left. Standing there, mouth agape, you wonder just how in the world you missed the mechanic placing it there.
You were lacking in the spy department nowadays. Oops.
You know you’re not going to find Ramirez. But him giving this back to you? It was his way of saying he’s alright and that he owes you many thanks.
You pocket the coin and accept the fact you just got bested.
It should take a few hours before you hit the first motel. Wisconsin isn’t that far, but you do have to pass through about hundred “middle of nowhere’s”. You pull out of the garage and check your mirrors — completely unaware of the super soldier running full speed to the passenger door. Steve carefully throws it open, somewhat aware of his strength, and lands into the seat beside you.
You hit the brakes hard. “Oh my! Rogers!”
Steve sucks in a few heavy breaths, like he literally ran across the compound to make it. “What? I startle you?”
“What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing? Aren’t you on house arrest?”
You squint at him, “Touche.” Putting the car in park, you turn your whole body to face him. “Answer my question.”
“Thought you were just gonna leave without saying goodbye?” Steve asks, expression much more teasing than serious.
“I’ll be gone for three days tops,” you say, waving your hand in the air. Steve smiles at you, seemingly waiting for you to speak again. You roll your eyes, “You’re coming with me, aren’t you?”
Steve lifts up the small duffel bag you hadn’t seen when he first got into the car. He throws it into the backseat and smiles lovingly at you. “I’ve been told that I’m impossible to get rid of, so yeah.”
“Rhodey said that the ankle bracelet they gave me wasn’t a trusted model. Easy to break off, like they did it on purpose.” You lean toward him, holding your chin up with the palm of your hand. “Should be able to drive free for a few weeks before they suspect anything.”
“Already booked us a cabin for Thanksgiving.”
“What makes you think that I even want you to accompany me on this road trip? Did you like the first one?”
Steve clears his throat and mimes like he’s writing on paper. The next words out of his mouth make your legs turn cold. “No matter how annoying and smart-mouthed you may be, there’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be than here, there, and everywhere with you.”
You blink multiple times, as if that would fix your ears. “...You. Fucking. Didn’t.” Steve reaches over to try and hug you. “No, don’t.” He squeezes harder, smooshing your face in his chest. “Steeeeve!”
“It fell out of your suitcase during the mission and I just… looked,” Steve reasons. He allows you to escape his grip.
“You just looked?”
Steve sighs. He really does look guilty. He pushes a strand of your hair behind your ear, letting his fingers tickle your skin. “I’m sorry I read it. I’ll get out of this car for real if you want me to.”
You arch an eyebrow, “You’re a little shit, but I’m not mad. No one understands privacy these days.”
Steve smiles wide enough for his dimples to pop and his eyes to crinkle. “I’d follow you anywhere, doll.”
“Anywhere?”
“Just name it.”
Humming low, you lean forward. He follows your direction like you’re a lighthouse beaming with light, capturing your lips with his in a sweet kiss. He hooks a large hand behind your head to press you to him harder. You smell like that vanilla scented shampoo he loves so much and feels his heart constrict with a pleasant pulse.
You pull back for air and smile against Steve’s soft lips.
“Well, I’m headed for the middle of buttfuck Wisconsin—”
“Just drive!”
Bursts of laughter fill the car until you’re past the checkpoints and well onto the long roads. The clouds continue to turn darker but they’re inviting, alluring, and it’s not insane that both of you desire thunderstorms because they remind you of family.
Steve watches you from the passenger seat, memorizing the contours and edges of your profile. The roots in his heart begin spreading again; the meat of his heart filling with a soothing promise that his time on earth is no longer rootless. He’s dug his feet in, he’s watered all he’s needed to water, and he feels it spreading within him like newly blossomed flowers in the spring. He has a sudden urge to take out his drawing pad to immortalize the way your mouth tilts higher up on the right side when you smile, to record it forever.
But he’ll remember it. He’ll remember well into this timeline, several years down the road, and even when he’s resting in his grave. So he leans his head back against the seat and chooses to watch the curves of every expression you grace him with. He immortalizes the sound of your voice, the taps of your fingers against the steering wheel, and the accented way you say his name.
There’s a long drive ahead, but he’s excited for it. He’s excited for you. Steve promises himself that he’ll ask you a million questions, and give you a million answers, and share a million more stories.
Right now, he just needs to sleep.
~
THE END.

The most difficult part for Levi was picking the best place to read.
His first choice was the oval. It was almost summer though and Levi was familiar enough with the timeline to know training must have started already. The last thing he wanted to do was run into old teammates and be forced to maintain some inkling of a conversation.
His second choice was the library. And it wasn’t a bad choice. For a while, Levi had settled on one of the desks at the corner of the library, far from cramming students or students looking for a convenient place to cool off. Seats on the corner didn’t have wide windows though and the artificial light and the artificial chill of the room had turned out to be distracting.
It was only a few pages in did Levi realize, he would have preferred some green around him and the heat of late spring wasn’t so bad. He started to wonder why he had even considered reading indoors in the first place.
He had ended up wasting a good fifteen minutes only to fall back to where he had parted ways with Hange anyway.
In front of the science building.
Hange was inside one of the empty classrooms defending her final thesis. Levi sat on one of the benches to the corner of the building, closing his eyes tight as if that would have been enough to make out the voices inside the building.
Others came to watch and he was sure of that. He had seen Erwin on the way in. Nanaba and Mike had waved at him, asking if he’d be coming inside.
Levi decided against it long before and maybe Hange would have preferred it that way too. After all, she must have left him that particular manuscript before entering the building for a reason. He read the title page, neatly printed in a very much readable and professional font.
Although it had looked like one with the thick cover and the hard binding, as soon as Levi opened the first page, the small title on the upper left had him speechless yet very much convinced.
It wasn’t her thesis manuscript.
To: Captain Levi
Captain Levi. How long had it been since he heard that name and that title? Hange had called him that months before. He had remembered writing about him. The words on the page, Hange's voice, Kuchel’s voice and his own voice all mentioning those same two words in succession had happened, he was sure of that much.
The circumstances though with each memory had blurred into each other one by one and he liked to attribute it to his hermit tendencies the succeeding months after his injury.
Life had been different since then. He had gone back to face to face classes. He had been working on his thesis. Hange had been working on her own thesis too. And they were both just too busy trying to graduate on time given the chaos of the first semester.
He stared at the title page for a few more seconds pondering that chaos, possibly trying to reach for something behind that haze to no avail. The only thing he was able to grasp then had been a bout of nostalgia.
And the nostalgia was more than enough to get him in the mood to read. He chalked up the small stint in the library to a test run and started again from the beginning.
Hange Zoe was born to a rich family within the Walls of Wall Sina…
Hange had taken great pains to describe everything from the cobblestone streets to the crystal-like bricks that lined the walls of the elegant buildings. The bricks shone with a unique glint and that alone had been enough for Hange to waste one paragraph on it.
She then used up another few paragraphs talking about the stifling life within the walls and her own curious nature.
If there’s something you don’t understand, go out and learn to understand it.
Living within the walls wasn’t in her nature so she ran away. She joined the survey corps. She was drawn to the outside world, drawn to titans.
So she became a researcher.
Levi didn’t notice it at first. Although his brain had been able to partition those few early events on the timeline, eventually the words started to shift, blur into one another and he found himself scanning through the paragraphs much quicker than usual.
He knew that much about squad leader Hange Zoe. He knew she hyper fixated on titans. He didn’t need vivid descriptions of Sonny and Bean nor did he need detailed descriptions of the outside world, the guns, the war or even her theories on the rumbling.
She had already told him everything then in the forest. She had told it to him back then in the office. Before he even knew it himself, he was flipping through the pages much faster. Suddenly his mind was pushing him to look out for certain things as he read.
There was something else he was looking for, between the lines of the descriptive narrations of Hange Zoe’s life.
“Maybe we should just live here together right Levi?”
Levi found the quote three pages before the back cover, towards the upper left of the page. He found himself running his left hand up to the corner of the page, slipping that corner between his two fingers, pressing on the ink on paper, just to make sure it wouldn’t so easily smudge with touch. Maybe it might even disappear like some sort of an illusion.
He just had to make sure it was real.
Hange’s exposition on sceneries was exhaustive. They were clear and vivid and they covered everything to the most granular bits of the large painting in his mind. If Levi closed his eyes, he was sure he would see the forest then.
Although Hange’s descriptions were detailed, comprehensive, enough to paint easy pictures in his head, they were far from introspective.
She had taken great pains to describe the darkness, the crackling campfire and the rough gashes of his face but she didn’t talk much about how it felt. Maybe it was up to the reader to contemplate them.
So Levi filled in the blanks, he filled the spaces between the lines with emotions, musings, ponderings. He couldn’t be too sure yet whether they were his or hers though, so he trudged on aimlessly as he read.
Everything happened in fast forward from there. Although Hange never left his side when she could, she was still fighting, suddenly she was strategizing.
Of course she would, she was a commander. He was just an injured soldier.
There was another quote, towards the last page on the upper right and Levi found himself running his pointer finger through it and he pressed on it hard, hard enough to crumple the pages of that corner. He ran his nail through it leaving a noticeable crease before he closed the binder and took a deep breath.
Dedicate your heart.
Just like every other page, there was no introspection into the character that made Hange Zoe, only words, more words then vivid descriptions of everything that happened after.
He didn’t need white spaces between the lines to figure it out for himself. Even if the pages had all been black, save for the words and the emotions they evoked, he felt it then like a weight.
But he shook it off, opened the book once again and continued to read.
Hange flew up. She fought titan after titan. And the fight had ended with her burning up in the air with the one last quote below.
“Titans really are incredible.”
Levi had half the mind to close the book again there, except that time, with no intention of reopening it. If he didn’t hyper fixate on that last sentence towards the end of the page, towards Commander Hange Zoe’s last words, maybe he wouldn’t have noticed the faded grey at the back of the last paragraph.
It was particularly noticeable on the white, between the lines of paragraphs. Once again Levi played with the creases just to make sure he hadn’t missed it. It was the last page, he was sure.
There was something written on the other side of the page. As much as it had ached to read on, Levi willed himself to flip the page.
It was empty, a blank white page. Fortunately, Levi was desperate enough to stare at it a little longer and he soon realized, he was focused on the center, somehow he had expected to find some sort of resolution there.
Hange had left the last line towards the upper left corner.
See you later Hange. Watch over us. Next to it was a shabbily drawn airplane and unlike all the other pages, it was smudged. The ink had blotted, sending light streaks of gray towards the right in such a predictable manner, Levi could almost imagine the way she had held the crease of the corner between her finger tips.
Once again, he shifted the weight of the page, moving his thumb and his pointer to that corner, reproducing the motions of how she must have messed up something so simple. It was easy to imagine and Levi found himself smiling.
Below it, towards the lower part of the page, he saw it. It was written with the same gel pen that bled through the other side of the page.
There were so many things I wanted to tell you but I never got the chance.
“Then why didn’t you say it? You had ten pages to say it.” Hell, you had five years to say it.
The next line read as if Hange had already predicted what he was going to say next.
I was the commander. You were the captain. We had a war to fight.
But you know, I thought when everything ends, once we retire I could let you know.
In a moment of dissonance, Levi started to wonder who those words were for. For all he knew, he could have been telling her the same thing.
Even if you don’t remember, I hope you at least felt it.
Please remember. Even if I wasn’t able to tell you anything, even if I couldn’t stay by your side.
I was watching you until the end.
Commander Hange Zoe
“Commander Hange Zoe,” Levi said it out loud a second time. Those words were ambrosia to his lips and he probably mouthed it a few more times as he stared at the blue sky above him.
Levi let his shoulders fall and he looked back down at the binder. He didn’t even notice he had closed it. “There were so many things I wanted to tell you too.”
You said it already. Commander Hange heard you. The answer came as a whisper. A quiet whisper that blew into his ear, caressing his neck.
And it had him jumping on his seat. “What the fuck Hange.”
“Are you done being sad already?”
“Why would I be sad?”
“Because Commander Hange Zoe died and you were staring at the sky like this for a good few minutes.” Hange let her head fall back playfully and Levi could have sworn he didn’t look like that. When she looked back at him a second later, she gave a knowing smile, an almost mocking smile.
That was enough to get Levi a little abrasive. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I was watching you,” Hange said. “You looked like you were concentrating so…”
“I was.”
“So I didn’t wanna bother you.”
“You could have announced your presence like a normal person at least, maybe drop a greeting?”
“I had to look for you and you weren’t answering your phone then I got impatient.” Hange seemed unperturbed. “Come on, I’m treating you guys out to dinner.”
Levi opened his phone to see an hour had passed since he last checked the time and beneath it five missed calls, all from Hange. On the upper right of his phone, the silent mode sign flashed like some sort of reminder. “I was in the library so I had to put my phone on silent.” Those words in defense of his actions were instinctive. Soon, as Hange looked back gesturing for him to follow her, he started to realize that maybe that defense was useless.
“Okay Levi,” Hange said. Her tone was reminiscent of a know-it-all. Her pace was insultingly slow. Levi found himself angrily quickening his pace to catch up to her.
Hange’s pace was at least slow enough that even with his recovering leg, he found it easy to catch up. The moment Levi walked past her, he felt familiar arms on his shoulder. They weighed on him and in a way, they had prevented him from overtaking her.
He had no intention of doing so anyway. “How was your defense?” Levi asked. It was an easy question to start with.
“Better late than never but I’m getting a diploma.”
“Late? You’re graduating with all of us.”
“I’m the last one among my batchmates who presented.”
“Believe me, I’m more amazed that you managed to get something out even after redoing your thesis three times.”
“I should thank Kuchel, it was her sources which got me here. I’ll probably send her a copy of my thesis as a thank you. You think she’ll appreciate that?”
“She probably will. Something to help her pass the time when she goes on leave.”
“Leave?”
“In our last session, she told me she’s expecting.”
“Oooh? A baby?”
“She ended up opening up to me about it after our session. She was pretty nervous about having a child for a while and recently, she managed to get over that fear.”
“I guess we all had something to deal with…” Hange said as she pulled him towards the gate. “You think we’ll get to meet the kid one day. I’d love to see Kuchel as a mother.”
“She’ll be a great mother…” Somehow, Levi knew it. He only had to look back at her words, her refined tone and the way she easily shifted between professional and motherly to be almost jealous of the child growing in her womb.
Hange gave him a toothy grin. “Let’s visit her together?”
“Why not?”
The conversation died as they turned the corner of one of the buildings along the path, a corner that opened up to a large courtyard and beyond it the gate of their university.
“Wait, where are we going?” Levi asked,
“I told you, I’m treating you guys out.” Hange answered matter-of-factly.
“Where Hange?”
“We’re having grilled meat.”
“Hange? For the third time… Where?” Levi asked.
It wasn’t Hange who had ended up answering the question. By the gate, Moblit and Nifa were waiting and they looked like they had been waiting a while. Nifa was tapping her feet impatiently while Moblit had seemed genuinely concerned.
“You guys okay? You looked like you were fighting,” Moblit said as he approached them.
“Where are we eating?” Levi asked.
“The Korean grill just a few blocks away.” Moblit said.
Levi didn’t need any more clarification from there. They were all from the same university and the restaurants around the area were a common language among them.
“That’s how you answer a question Hange,” Levi muttered coldly.
“Well, I didn’t think the location was important. I was leading you there already anyway,” Hange responding mirroring that same cold tone with her own. She went ahead and put one arm around Moblit muttering unintelligible words save for the quick congratulations at the start.
“Congratulations?” Levi asked.
“He got nominated for best thesis and everyone's pretty convinced he’s gonna win it,” Nifa answered. She had fallen back behind the two and matched Levi’s pace.
Moblit eventually raised his voice, loud enough for even Levi to hear. “No No… That was your data Hange and it was your idea. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.”
“Still…” Hange’s voice trailed off. She was far enough, her voice was garbled enough that with that few feet distance, her words were unintelligible. Her smile though was very much still perceptible, a genuine golden smile.
“Levi, you agree right?”
Levi looked towards the voice, Moblit’s voice. “Agree with what?”
“If Hange had submitted her thesis early, she could have won ri---.”
“Moblit, stop downplaying your nomination.” Hange interrupted, giving him a strong push n the back.
Moblit wobbled and held onto Hange’s shirt to keep his balance “But it was a good thesis right?” He asked as soon as he recovered. He looked at Levi expectantly.
It was only then did Levi realize, despite the five months together, he never really thought too much to ask what her thesis had been about. With his own hectic schedule, his physical therapy sessions, his sessions with Shela, maybe it just never peaked his interest. He was starting to feel guilty at such a reminder and before he knew it, he was finding excuses for it.
She spent a lot of the past few months cooped up in her room if not in class, save for the few moments when she would accompany to therapy sessions or to meet with Shela.
His thoughts flew back to the document she had shared with him.
To: Levi Ackerman.
And if that document was half as good as her thesis, he was sure she did well. So he returned Moblit’s approval with one of his own. “It was a good thesis,” Levi said. “But don’t downplay yours. You won fair and square.”
That was all there was to it. Hange didn’t win. But she didn’t seem to mind either. Hange had snuck what looked to be a grateful smile and she continued to playfully poke at Moblit then, probably whispering inside jokes, reminiscing about their life before.
Her mood was unwavering all the way until the restaurant
It turned out Mike and Nanaba were in the restaurant already and they only joined Hange at glomping Moblit for his nomination. The four childhood friends created a world of their own in the restaurant, a world full of inside jokes, long gone memories and maybe even discussions on future plans.
Levi deemed it appropriate to sit on a chair at the edge of their long table and just quietly listen.
Mike was selected for the national team.
Nanaba wanted to go back to minor league volleyball after college.
Moblit was going to medical school
And Nifa, who had joined their conversation then, was going to take masters.
Hange’s plans were either long-awaited or they were intentionally avoided. He couldn’t tell.
By the time the question came, it had come as a casual question by Moblit who had always been sensitive with the way he phrased things so his intention had been something Levi couldn’t read either.
Before Hange could open her mouth though, Nifa chimed in greeting. “Doctor Erwin!”
“Sorry I’m late. We were discussing the nominees,’ Erwin said.
And the topic shifted from there, even before Levi could get answers.
Erwin never spilled who the winner was, but it was apparent in his gaze that shifted to the side and the smile that curled up his lips that it was one of them. By the time Hange had started being too vocal about it, Erwin had spilled more than enough for the students to guess for themselves.
“You’re free anytime next week for an awarding ceremony right?” Erwin asked.
“Anytime sir! Thank you for this opportunity.”
Erwin shook his head. “You wrote a great thesis. It was well deserved. Will you be inviting Elijah?”
“I think I should treat him out, I’ve wasted a lot of his time this past year... He’s been pretty busy training with the national team though… But I’ll talk to him.”
Their long table was already a conglomerate of conversations and Levi struggled to keep up.
Somewhere between conversations, the charcoal had been added to the grills, the sides were served and Levi found himself listening intently to Erwin and Moblit’s exchange in particular while he played with the spinach on his plate.
Elijah swept the high jump. He swept the other events. He came out winning the Most Valuable Player Award for the High Jump. And he recently started training with the national team.
The Olympics isn’t a far off dream at this point. It’s probably just another step for him.
Moblit had shown up for the first training and he had started to describe Elijah’s skill with the bar then. His coordination with the take off food, his wide penultimate stride.
He was using lingo most track and field athletes wouldn’t have thought twice to use and Levi had used and heard them more times than he had counted through the years. Having not thought about high jumping in months, listening to such a conversation peppered with such words that used to be home for him, seemed surreal.
So surreal that for a second, Levi lost his grip on a reality. Enough to not have noticed the waitress who served the drink in front of him
It was a short and stout glass. The contents looked particularly ---almost dangerously--- colorful and the red stick on the side was enough for Levi to deduce what exactly it was. To confirm it, he took one sniff.
“Nanaba, why the hell did you order alcohol?” Hange asked.
“It’s a celebration right? We should be drinking. Cheers!” She raised her cup up to no one in particular.
Moblit and Nifa had been nice enough to join albeit a little uncomfortably. Levi found himself making eye contact with Erwin who was still slowly mixing the cup in front of him, seeming unsure of what exactly happened.
Hange seemed flustered. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m fine with us drinking but more people are coming and---”
“Sorry we’re late Hange!”
Armin? That was Armin’s voice. But it wasn’t just Armin, tailing behind him were several other very familiar people.
Armin continued. “None of us wanted to go alone…”
Of course none of them would want to go alone, they were high school students and around them were a group of college students and a college professor.
A group of high school students among college students. Levi noted. He eyed the cocktail glass in front of him then. Was that what Hange was worried about? Levi found himself downing his cup a little quicker.
“Blame Connie here, He was the one wasting his time on extra batting practice until god knows what time,” Jean said as he followed behind Armin.
“Shut up Jean. At least Armin didn’t have to cover my subway fee.”
“I just didn’t have change on me.”
“Calm down you two, you’re eating here for free.” Historia went in between the two, and walked up to Hange who had stood up to guide them to their seats. “I could pay for my share.”
“No, no. I set aside money for this. I just wanted to express my thanks for the past few months and I wanted to meet you guys again. I hope we can keep in touch even after...” Hange pulled Historia to the side and Levi couldn’t make out the rest of their conversation.
So he focused elsewhere.
“Is this… unlimited?” It was Sasha who spoke up that time. It was great timing that the moment Sasha had come in, the first plates of meat were starting to be served on the table. Expectedly, she had been the first one to sit and she started cooking on her end.
“Yes it is,” Levi answered
“No way… Right after a long day of training? Is this heaven…” Sasha could have been tearing up at that moment. She had been too focused on the meat so Levi couldn’t confirm it for himself but the crack on her voice had been evidence enough.
Hange squeezed herself among the high school students who had settled on the nearby seats. “No no… This is a thank you for helping me with my thesis. I got some good data from you guys so really, thank you for taking the time to fill out those forms and dealing with all my messages and calls,” Hange said.
“You didn’t have to. You did more than enough for us.” Jean sat in front of Levi towards the edge of the table. “You helped me fix my dunking position.”
“Ah Jean, you mentioned last time, you’d be going abroad for college. Will you?”
Jean grinned. “Basketball isn’t too big of a sport here so I thought of going somewhere where I can go pro. I got a full ride in a pretty good university.”
“Jean! Congratulations!”  Their side of the table had exploded into other conversations.
They were all going to colleges, some abroad, some local. Levi had turned to their side, ready to passively listen for details. He was starting to get invested in their plans too.
“Is anyone sitting here?”
Mikasa Ackerman. He instantly recognized her voice. “Ah sorry, I didn’t notice you there.” Levi said.
Mikasa remained standing. She stared at Levi expectantly and pointed to the seat next to him. “So, I can sit here?”
“Go ahead.” Levi scooched over on the bench. He eyed the filled cocktail glass next to Mikasa and pushed it casually towards himself. The last thing he wanted to do then was enable a minor.
Mikasa didn’t seem to notice the drink at leats.. “I talked to Elijah,” she said as she started placing meat in the grill... “He welcomed me during my first training.”
“Didn’t he move on from collegiate jumping already?”
“He had some free time. We had a long talk about prospects after college. I’m guessing coach put him up to it. Some extra persuasion points maybe?”
“You’re not gonna change your mind.”
“I don’t plan on changing my mind. I submitted my documents, signed the contract and I’ll probably be moving to the dorm next week so I’ll be nearer to the oval.” Mikasa paused to eat an egg roll.
“To think you were so against it before.”
Mikasa shrugged. “I guess it’s just easier now since Eren’s starting to prepare for entrance exams. I’m actually convinced he’s gonna be fine. He’s been taking review classes and he’s been studying a lot outside the classes too.”
“Entrance exams of Paradis University?”
“That’s his first choice,” Mikasa said. “Are you still staying in the dorm? Maybe we could go through drills together on off-days and you could give me a few pointers.”
“I’ll be in the dorm for a week more or so... I’m not exactly sure.”
“You’re gonna wait for Hange?”
Is it obvious? Levi avoided her gaze then, looking back at his empty plate. He soon realized he hadn’t even started cooking himself. So he dropped a few slabs of meat on the grill in front of him to feign at least some disconnect. “Maybe,” he answered.
“It would be nice to get a few pointers from you,” Mikasa said. “You really were one of the best jumpers out there.”
“I won’t be able to demonstrate a jump if that’s what you’re expecting. Besides Hange is much better at giving pointers. She’s a lot more observant than I am.”
“I’m sure there are things you can teach me that Hange can’t. I wanna improve my vertical jump. And maybe try some of the other events as well.”
“This is a complete 180 from you months ago..”
“I’m stuck training twice a day. I barely get to talk to Eren and Armin. So I ended up finding happiness in just jumping… And I thought to myself, might as well make some jumping goals for myself right?”
“So what’s your goal?”
“I wanna beat your high jump record. Even Elijah hasn’t beaten that yet,” Mikasa said.
“That’s some character development,” Levi mumbled.
Mikasa ignored it though or maybe she didn’t hear it. Levi never really figured out how loud he had said it. “.. And the only person who can teach me how to beat your record is you.”

Levi had eaten too little and had drank a little too much. But he would rather not have told anyone that.
So he had made the journey to the rooftop of the restaurant alone. There was a toilet conveniently by the staircase where he had ended up dry heaving on the bowl. A few dry heaves and a few sets of stairs later, he found himself sitting back on the metal wired fence that lined the roof.
Just long enough to get my bearings. Levi reassured himself as he leaned further in.
As time passed though, he managed to convince himself that maybe he could stay there long enough to just wait for everyone to leave. The last thing he would have wanted to do was puke on anyone on the way down.
He checked his clock. 9:30pm. Most college students wouldn’t even be leaving for the party yet at that time. His strict athlete schedule meant he never was a normal college student though.
He graduated college already anyway. With that realization, Levi was a little more merciful towards himself. So he rode out the high of his inebriation. He counted out the stars above him, treating it as some sort of countdown to sobriety.
It probably wouldn’t work. After the tenth star, his head was still pounding, the stars were starting to show signs of blending amongst one another and he could feel his face warming up.
He was starting to feel the beginnings of dry heaving—or possibly wet heaving—again. Unable to sit up any longer, he lay on his side.
He didn't know how long he had lain there, waiting for the pounding to subside before he heard footsteps. His first instinct had been to force himself to sit up. His mind though was quick to recognize those footsteps, that natural mix of fast, loud and even as they made their way up the stairs and somehow, he ended up relaxing instead on the cold concrete floor.
How many times had he searched for those footsteps before?
“Hey, you know you’re lucky we’re here on a weekday during off season. If this were a weekend, the rooftop probably would have been full and they would have kicked you out already.”
“How’s everyone?” Levi asked. He kept his question to two words but the amount of syllables he had to pronounce then only garbled it.
“They left already,” Hange slid back on the metal fence and leaned back on it. “It’s just you and me now.”
“Okay,” Levi said. He would have wanted to say more. The pounding headache only made something so simple as speaking, a game of Russian Roulette and he didn’t want to figure out which word had the bullet, and which word could have him throwing up on Hange then.
“It’s just you and me,” Hange repeated.
You said that already. Levi would have wanted to say. Instead he kept his own response at a hum of understanding. She should interpret that as a yes at least.
“You don’t wanna talk? Or are you just too drunk?”
Levi didn’t respond.
“Didn’t you just have two cups?”
Levi raised up three fingers. He wasn’t exactly sure how many at that point. But he was sure it felt like more than two.
“Okay, that still isn’t enough to be deadass drunk you know.” Hange seemed impatient. And maybe a little disappointed.
So Levi took one risk. “Just keep talking. I’m listening.” Maybe that had been enough to get some bile up his throat. It had done more than enough to aggravate the pounding in his head and he found himself leaning on Hange’s shoulder.
As she held him closer, her hand gently guided him deeper onto her shoulder. Within seconds, Levi found he had rested his head on her lap and was staring up at the sky above.
The night was clear, the stars were shining and Levi was counting the stars again, a little ticked that he had lost his pattern and his train of thought of a few minutes ago. He was starting from the top again and he could have sworn the stars were constantly moving. There was no way he would have been able to guess which line of stars he had already counted.
“Hey, talk to me.” Hange only made the ordeal of counting stars worse. Her big head of all things was obscuring the view of the patterns he was starting to form as he counted.
Get out, I’m counting stars. That’s what he would have wanted to say then.
Hange could have heard it. Or maybe she didn’t. She bent a little more forward, so unnaturally, Levi could have sworn she had done it out of spite. She stared at him with wide eyes, her lips curled up into a playful smile. “Let’s talk Levi, one more hour and they’re gonna close. Besides the view here is nice, it’s breezy and…”
“And?”
“You’re probably too drunk to move now. We’re gonna have to get a taxi home.”
“Later,” Levi mumbled as he turned on his side and buried his face into Hange’s polo which smelled unavoidably like beef. He would have complained then if his head wasn’t pounding and if it didn’t dawn on him then, he probably smelled worse.
“Okay, Wanna talk about my work?”
“Thesis?”
“That… and, the binder I gave you, the one with the stories.”
“What about it?” There was a lot to talk about. But it wasn’t like there was much Levi could have contributed then but one to two syllable answers.
“What did you think?”
“Good.”
Hange pouted. “No, not about the quality. How did it make you feel?”
“Good.”
“Okay, how did Commander Hange’s death make you feel?” Hange had taken pains to pronounce the word death a little more clearly than everything else. Enough for Levi to almost think throwing up on her would be a good idea.
So he took another risk. “If you had so much more to say, why didn’t you say it?” Levi asked. His voice would naturally slur so he willed himself to enunciate every syllable even if it could make him look like an idiot in the process.
“That’s what Commander Hange should have been asking Levi,” Hange said.
“Captain Levi didn’t wanna let Commander Hange sacrifice herself. It was obvious.”
“No it wasn’t.” Hange shook her head, quickly enough to get even Levi dizzy. “You wrote something before, right? Your descriptions of everything were incredibly vivid, like I remembered the views, the appearance of the titans, the way you weaved words together but you know half the time, I couldn’t even be sure of what Captain Levi was thinking.”
“That’s how it felt reading your work. Squad leader Hange, Commander Hange… all they described were titans.”
“But Commander Hange explicitly said she wanted to live with Captain Levi. It was obvious too,” Hange said.
And for a second, maybe they were engaged in some mental sparring, a game of tug of war. Levi was still a little too incapacitated, he couldn’t take the initiative.
So Hange spoke up, loud and clear. “I thought being with each other, doing all that was enough of a love letter. Did they need words? A mad declaration of love?”
“Maybe, no one can be too sure unless somebody says something right?”
“Hange was the commander. Levi was the captain. With the war going on, I don’t think they could have left their post right. They couldn’t be too selfish. I think the commander was planning to wait until retirement to say it.”
“Retirement never came.”
“We’re both retired now,” Hange said. “I’m done with this whole academic stint. You’re done with your whole athletic stint. We have the time to make it work for Commander Hange and for Captain Levi right?”
“Are you saying we’re Captain Levi and Commander Hange?”
“My dreams tell me yes.”
“Dreams huh? That’s pretty objective.”
“Hey, I think I did enough research on this to make a theory about it. It was part of my thesis.”
“And you do realize you’ve never told me what your thesis was about?”
“Sorry about that…”
“So you knew? I always thought I was an asshole for not asking.”
“You asked a few times, not directly, but I think maybe you wanted to go in that direction,” Hange said. “And I admit, I ended up digressing every time.”
“Why?”
“I guess I wasn’t too comfortable telling you yet. I was writing my thesis side by side with that story and ever since I got serious about it, after a few dreams, after that night in the hospital, I wanted the memories to be as raw as possible, untainted by whatever story Captain Levi told me before. It was Commander Hange’s story, not Captain Levi’s. So I guess that’s why I wanted to avoid discussion on it.”
“Thesis is done. The book is done. You can talk about it now.”
“You're gonna get bored. So I’ll just read out the title.”
Hange twisted towards her side, jostling Levi in the process and Levi had to bite his lip not to aggravate the dull headache then. He heard the sound of a zipper and the sound of books pushed against one another.
After what felt like a lot more than a few seconds, it stopped. Hange opened the book, she turned on the flashlight of her phone.
The glare was sudden and for a good few seconds the glare of the light could have been right on him. Maybe that was what had made it particularly painful for Levi then.
He buried his face further into Hange’s shirt and let out a taut curse.
“Sorry,” Hange whispered, seeming distracted. After flipping through the pages for a few seconds longer, she read it out loud. “Nature and Nurture as Determinants of Athletic Potential, A Case Study on High Performing Athletes… Okay you know,  maybe I was a little biased towards ‘nature,’’ she added cheekily.
“Why nature?”
“Dreams… Past life. What if… You’re Captain Levi and I’m Commander Hange Zoe. Right? We have the evidence. Captain Levi was humanity’s strongest and he was really good with fighting in the air... Commander Hange Zoe liked strategy and research... And the fact that we had the same dreams?” Hange trailed off.
Levi was in no state to respond.
So Hange continued. “You wrote a lot Levi and maybe you’ll write it again. But I can swear, from what I remember about your works, and what I remember from mine, They’re the same story. And Kuchel had something similar right? What if past lives are real?”
“I don’t think you’re wrong..”
Hange pulled another book from her bag then.
Under the dim starry night, Levi made out the thin binder, the one he had read that afternoon. She started to flip through the pages, much faster as if she memorized the exact page and maybe the exact position where the paragraph was.
“Maybe we should just live here together, right Levi?” Hange read out loud.
If we keep running and hiding, what will that get us… I know you’re not able to stay out of the action. Those words echoed clearly in Levi’s mind then. Captain Levi was still alive inside him and he was whispering.
Clear enough to convince Levi. Maybe past lives are real. Levi thought to himself. He was in another life then, circumstances were different so he changed the script a bit, a script fit for soon-to-be graduates Hange Zoe and Levi Ackerman.
“Where to, Hange Zoe? What’s the game plan?” Levi asked.
“What’s the game plan of an academic washout…” Hange asked. “Well first things first, thank my parents for their grad gift, you know, the money to pay for the all you can eat beef… I’ll probably get a full time job, save up money then decide if I wanna go to med school again but at this point, I might just be better off pursuing a research track.”
“Didn’t Commander Hange wanna study plants?”
“She did,” Hange said. “And you know maybe she’ll get the chance now. Didn’t Captain Levi wanna own a tea shop?”
“I think that’s a viable career option for an athletic washout. The Olympics and the national team are out of my plate anyway.”
“So what? Teashop and research?”
“Teashop and research.”
“Well first things first, we’re gonna have to save right? My parents and I have been reconciling our differences lately already but I don’t wanna borrow too much money so our best option would be to get a place outside the city? You think we’d be able to afford that?”
Levi forced a slight nod. “Maybe a place with lots of green. You’d probably enjoy the trees and you’ll find lots to study during your days off. The commute to work is gonna be a bitch though.”
“We’ll find a job nearby or we’ll make it work. Just long enough to figure things out.”
Figure things out… The conversation died then. But maybe it did because Hange had started to do a little more research then, he saw in the glare in her glasses, the natural green over the white background.
Was she researching houses? Levi asked silently. It wasn’t worth asking anyway. They had only a few weeks before their contract ends and they’d be forced to vacate the dorms. Maybe it was a good idea to search much earlier.
So Levi endured the bright glare of the screen and searched for the beauty in the green glare on the white screen on Hange’s glasses then, and maybe he found it underneath in her eyes that seemed to be smiling.
If eyes could smile… No, they were definitely smiling.
“I’m sorry, we’re gonna have to ask you to leave. The restaurant is closing soon.”
Just like that, the moment was broken.
“We’re going down. Just give us a few minutes to fix our stuff.”
“Let’s go, Levi?”
“I would've wanted to stay here a little longer. It feels like a dream. I feel like Captain Levi here.”
“Because you are Captain Levi,” Hange said as she started to stuff the books back into her bag.
“Alright, Commander Hange.”
Hange chuckled. “You seem very disappointed.”
“Do I?” Levi couldn’t really tell the face he was making there. Hange’s face wasn’t the clearest either under the dark light. So he considered the possibility that she could be right. He might have been disappointed.
“Fine, I’ll give you something to dream about,” Hange said slyly. “You know, if Commander Hange Zoe wasn’t fighting a war, there was something else she probably would have done.”
“Wha--?” Before Levi could even complete the question, she had answered it herself.
She answered it with a quick peck. Or at least it should have been a quick peck.
With Levi’s mouth half open then, it morphed into something else in that split second, lasting a little longer. Their lips locked, their tongues touched and it had taken a few seconds longer to let go.
It probably could have taken a minute, an hour or even an eternity longer and Levi wouldn't have minded.
He continued to replay it in his head again and again as Hange helped him up, slung his one arm over hers. His surroundings changed, from the starry rooftop, the restaurant interior then the taxi on the way home.
And it ended with the sofa of the dorm lobby, the wooden ceiling and Hange leaning on him on the sofa.
He was still thinking about it then. In the silence, in the peace even with the changing surroundings, he had been on cloud nine the whole time.
He was convinced, Captain Levi wouldn't have minded that eternity either. Hell, he probably would have loved it.
***
There was a hiking trail near their house. Luckily it wasn’t too steep.
So Levi deemed himself well enough to brave it. It had been almost a year since his surgery, six months since the last tear and most days, as long as he wore his knee brace, his knee wouldn’t give out on him.
Unbuckling happened. Swelling happened. The dull aches never left. Levi had learned to just live with it, ride through the worst days.
It was as if his knee knew then that that day in particular was special. Or maybe Levi had chosen that day because his knee was feeling better. That day, Hange was notably freer and on the days leading up to autumn, it was only gonna getting colder and colder and he didn’t wanna have to wait another year to hike.
“Just tell me if anything hurts,” Hange said as they made the almost perilous journey up the hill.
The steeper it got, the harder it would be on his knees. He noted that, it would get worse particularly on the way down.
It was still far from the steep incline in the reserve Hange had brought him to more than a year ago.
There was a peak that overlooked the small town they had settled in. The incline, the climb albeit longer, was friendlier for his aching muscles and his bum knee.
Levi was counting his blessings. So through the worst of the dull aches, the worst of the pains as they climbed up, Levi gritted his teeth and clocked it as ‘bearable at least,’ not worth a complaint.
Hange probably could tell though. He didn’t figure out by her eyes since he kept walking behind her. She hadn’t been particularly pushy either. He had figured it out for himself when she started talking, and she never stopped.
“How’s Petra?”
“She’s working towards a PT Certificate.”
“How’s Isabel?”
“I heard she’s starting her third year of high school already?”
“And Farland?”
How do you even know them?
“I visited Erwin a lot in his office in the hospital you know. And I talked to them.”
But it hadn’t been just that. Hange had an emotional investment extending far beyond that. He slowed his pace, appreciating her seemingly interested voice then. With that, Levi was reminded, they were Commander Hange’s friends too.
So he continued to answer questions as they came. They were a good distraction from the specter of exhaustion that loomed over him.
And soon, he took the reins. "So how's Moblit?" It had only felt natural to ask too.
"He's in his first year of med school...How's Mikasa?"
"Her first college competition is next month.”
Conversations shifted quickly from topic to topic, person to person before dying somewhere at the peak when they attributed the death of such to speechlessness at the view before him or just utter exhaustion.
Levi knew it was neither of it and he became sure of it as Hange guided him to the bench that overlooked the rolling hills behind them.
She kept one hand over his knee. "Your knee did a good job not swelling."
"Even if it does, I won’t regret it. I wanted to do this for a while."
"Is this because you couldn't join me up the peak last year?"
"Probably," Levi said. He turned to her. "You didn’t get to the top then right?"
“No, I didn’t. I went back down as quickly as I could when I heard you scream my name.”
“I’m sorry.” I didn’t know what came over me. But Levi knew, so he kept that last part to himself. “You know, maybe I am doing this for you. You still wanna fly right?"
"Yeah, I do. Even if I remember everything then, after writing everything out… Sure I know how it ends for Commander Hange Zoe but... I still wanna fly. Maybe because I just wanna enjoy the freedom that comes with it.”
"Then I guess we made a good choice." Levi grabbed his backpack from behind him and unzipped it. "I wanted to give this to you. And I thought you might enjoy reading it in a place with lots of sky."
He had binded it the same way and he had titled it similarly.
It looked like Hange knew what it was. "Levi… is this…" Her wide eyes looked far from confused.
"After reading your work, I started dreaming about Captain Levi again so I rewrote the story I made a year ago. It's not a perfect copy but I think I remembered enough to maybe get you immersed again in his thoughts."
Hange didn't reply but Levi didn't mind.
In a way, she had responded, through whispers, murmurs and the grin on her face as she looked through the file. "To Commander Hange? Yours truly, Captain Levi?" Hange asked, a little louder and clearer than her murmurs. She wanted to be listened to.
"Are you laughing? That's the same thing you wrote at the top in your own file,” Levi said. “I guess you can say, it's Captain Levi's love letter to Commander Hange."
“A love letter huh? All I’m reading here are long drawn out descriptions of humanity’s strongest soldier fighting titans…” Hange chuckled. “And maybe some mentions of Commander Hange Zoe.”
“Captain Levi was with Commander Hange a lot right?” It was a shoddy reply. Still, an inkling of pride had Levi clinging on to that comment.
"Do you notice that neither of us actually wrote something introspective. It’s like they never could tell what the other was thinking. Captain Levi was too obsessed with fighting, Commander Hange was too obsessed with Titans."
"Those were how my dreams were."
"That's how they were for me too."
"But if you look over there, towards the last page, you'd find it. I wrote 'dedicate your heart' right? Captain Levi didn't want you to leave"
"I remember that and if you looked towards the end of my work you'd see I wrote... Commander Hange wanted to live with you."
Levi had a copy of it on his phone so he opened up, did a quick search and highlighted the text.
Maybe we should just live here together, right Levi?
For a second they sat in silence. Levi was too busy finding a reason for the tens of thousands of words worth of exposition all for one sentence. Maybe Hange was doing similarly.
Hange spoke up once again, only confirming it for herself. "Commander Hange and Captain Levi really took each other for granted huh?”
"They had a war to fight. They couldn't be too intimate could they?"
“So instead of just explicitly saying I love you through a love letter, they decide to send each other memories of a past life and we’re left to decode it for ourselves?”
“Captain Levi was never really the type to say he loves someone. And I’m guessing Commander Hange wasn’t the type either.”
“Or maybe... They were too scared to think about it to admit it was love, but somehow the reader just knows.” Hange suggested. She turned to Levi then, eyeing his phone.” It wasn’t just in the ‘live together’ part right? I’m sure you felt it in the letter? With every mention of Captain Levi… Toward the end, he never left her side and she never his side too right?”
Levi nodded slowly, gripping his phone a little tighter. “I felt it and every time I reread it, it only got stronger." And how many times had he reread it since she first gave it to him months ago?
“You know Levi, even since last year, the first time I read it, I felt it for myself and I really thought they would have kissed. And maybe if Commander Hange died they would have.” Hange cocked her head to one side. “So none of us needed reflection or introspection huh? I guess the descriptions on titans and technology made some great padding to the love letter.”
“Don’t you think it just made everything more complicated? For us?”
“Maybe it did. But I like to think this long drawn out puzzle just makes everything deeper, worth remembering. Think about it, just mentioning someone again and again, just quietly assuming that someone would be there by your side forever, not thinking too much of it but just casually thinking ‘I wouldn’t mind if they were there forever.’ And when the prospect of losing them comes up, that refusal to let go...the regrets that follow... I think those run deeper than any flowery declaration of love." Hange waved the binder in front of him. "I like this. It’s better than any love letter I could have gotten.”
“Two idiots just writing stories about their tragic past lives and exchanging it," Levi mumbled that first part to himself. He turned to Hange. "I enjoyed the process of writing these ‘love letters’," Levi said. "Did you?"
Hange nodded. “It wasn’t all happiness for sure but overall, I’m enjoying the writing process and I'm enjoying where the dreams brought me. It’s not where I expected to be a year ago but hey, who says life should be following the path we set for it,” she said. She took a deep breath. “And I should be saying the same to you. I’m not the Olympics. I’m not the national track and field team but you don’t mind right? Being stuck with me? Writing love letters like that?”
“Hey, instead of going to medical school, you’re here living with me in some small house near some hiking trail. We’re both on nine to five jobs saving up money until god knows when. It’s a far cry from what our teammates and blockmates are doing.”
“But you know if I didn’t drop the other theses, I don’t think I would have written this much about you.”
“And if I didn’t get injured, I wouldn’t have written. I’d probably be training with the national team now.”
And we wouldn’t be here. Somehow, Levi knew she was thinking about it too. From his peripherals, he saw, Hange had leaned back on the bench and had let her head fall back. She was staring at the sky above her.
He followed suit.
There was something about the sky at the top of the hill. It was a light yet mesmerizing blue that endlessly stretched above him. There were no buildings, no trees, or no highlands framing such a view. The sky looked free.
And for the first time in months, Levi felt like he was flying again.
But he didn’t want to fly alone. Levi dropped one hand along that very small gap between them.
It looked like Hange had taken that as a sign to reciprocate.
Levi looked to his hand, cradled against hers and up at her face to see that she still wasn’t looking down. In fact she held her head back further, propped her glasses on her forehead, and continued to stare at the blue sky above.
The blue sky reflected on Hange’s hazel eyes and it manifested in streams of color Levi couldn’t have even imagined as ever been producible by blue and brown. He wanted to catch her gaze then.
So he spoke up. “It wasn’t easy to accept it at first but I’m happy where we are. I’m not regretting anything and you know, there’s something liberating about failing---” Levi shook his head almost instantly as if what he had just said dawned on him then. “Actually wait, I think I phrased it wrong. This probably sounds weird.”
Hange continued to stare at the sky. “No, I think I get it,” she said. “Failing is embarrassing, it fucking hurts and for a while it feels like life stops. But when you fail enough times, failure starts to feel like a friend. And when you fail a few more times, you stop chasing and that’s the liberation you’re talking about right? There’s something liberating about accepting failure as just something that happens and just riding through that downward spiral before picking yourself up again." Hange held the booklet over her and reopened it. “I’m happy where I am now too, post-downward spiral.”
Levi could only watch and listen as she whispered unintelligible sentences to herself, grinning at the pages. He wondered which scenes she was reading through then.
“Well, it’s time for both of us to regroup then. We can't just keep feeling sorry for ourselves right?” Hange added as she stood up. “I have my research. You have your tea shop to work on. We better start hiking now or I don’t think we’ll make it back before sun down.”
“I would have wanted to enjoy this view a little longer.”
“Then we schedule another hike. We endure the uphill battle, we enjoy the peak then we deal with the downward spiral. That’s how it’s always been anyway.” She stuffed the booklet on her backpack and pulled him up from the bench.
“Yeah, we’re both used to it anyway,” Levi joked. He felt Hange’s hand behind him as he looked down at the decline. Only looking at it then did it dawn on him, hiking backwards, the downward spiral which followed the euphoria at the peak could be almost comparable to hell for his knees.
“Hey, I’ll go first. If you feel like you’re losing your balance, just grip my shoulder harder. Besides we can look for a gentler slope on the way down. We just have to get past this one.”
“We won’t be able to get down if we don’t deal with this huh?”
“We won’t,” Hange said. “I know it’s bad for your knees… but if you walk at an angle, it will reduce pressure. I’ll cover for you.” She clutched his hand, went ahead and guided his hand towards her shoulder.
Levi took it as a sign to grip..
“Just relax," Hange said.
It was easier said than done. Levi waited for his legs to start screaming then. The dull aches were ubiquitous, the buckling and unbuckling of his knees were a discomfort he had learned to just ride through and he was sure, he wouldn’t be hiking for another few months after that.
Even before the slope had gradually morphed into something gentler, Hange had started talking again as if she knew once again that it could ease them the whole ordeal of hiking downwards.
“Remember that teashop, the one just a ten minute walk away from our apartment, you wanna check it out?” Hange asked.
There was only one teashop near their place and Levi was quick to recognize it. “I’ve been going there everyday after work.”
“Without me?”
“Where do you think I buy the teabags and the coffee beans that never seem to run out?" Levi asked. He had taken great care to say the word 'coffee' in particular. It was Hange who went through bags of them too quickly that it was almost impossible to not frequent the cafe.
“Fine, I won’t complain. Tell me about it then, any regulars? Anything notable?”
“There are two kids who live nearby and they hang out there a lot. A brunette and a blond. Falco and Gabi.” Those names had been easy to remember. Yet as he imagined those two kids in the cafe, as he recalled their minimal interactions, he started to wonder if they ever really did introduce themselves.
“Those are familiar names," Hange commented.
“And there’s a pilot who hangs out there but mostly on weekends. His name is Onya--”
“Onyakopon?”
“So you’ve met them before?”
“No, just seems familiar.”
“So what, are you gonna tell me you’ve dreamed of them?”
“Maybe I did.”
Somehow, that had taken a weight of his shoulders then and it had started to become easier to admit on his end. “To be honest, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dream of them too.”

Chapter Warnings: Cursing, Mentions of Sex, Cocky Bucky, Nervous Bucky, Bucky Bucky
A/N: I actually have ideas for this story, so I’m cranking it out! I definitely wasn’t expecting to post today, but here we are! This chapter has a lot of dialogue and some of Reader’s thoughts, but not much action, yet. We’re kind of still getting in the roll of things, it still being the first week of college and all that. We do get to meet Bucky, though! Next chapter we’ll meet mostly everyone else, and there will be more things happening other than classes and work. I kinda feel like I’m rushing these first few chapters, so I’m sorry about that, but it’s mostly introductions and setting up the story and I’m the type of person who likes writing the climax and only the climax. So this is steady growth for me.
I do want to point out the series warnings, just in case! I don’t want anyone feeling uncomfortable or being triggered while reading this so please take those seriously as it will happen later on in the story! Thank you!
Once again, this isn’t beta’d so please excuse any mistakes! Thank you for reading and please enjoy!

You woke up in a much better mood on Tuesday, having gotten more sleep than the previous night, especially considering how tired you were when you got home past midnight from working at Shield. You crashed as soon as your head hit the pillow.
You took your time getting ready and eating breakfast, saying bye to Christine and the kids, leaving first that time since your Public Speaking class started before Kayla’s preschool did.
Which you were late to.
Of course as soon as you let your guard down, thinking you’d be fine since your first day was fine, you weren’t fine.
Fortunately, you were only a few minutes late and didn’t miss anything, since today would be another day of going over rules and course requirements for the two new classes you had.
Public Speaking was the worst. You’re older - and only - sister, Kimberly, convinced you to take the class after saying it was one of her favorites. Of course, you forgot that you and Kim were very different people. For starting at 9:05, it was too early of a class, especially when the whole point was, you know, public speaking. You hadn’t done anything yet, but one glance at the plans your professor had for the semester and you were dreading it already.
Your next class was a US History lecture, which started fifteen minutes after Public Speaking. You were again late because you severely underestimated how far the buildings were and your professor let you out a bit later than you anticipated.
You practically threw all your stuff into your bag the moment he dismissed you and sprinted out.
Arriving, you tried slipping in as silently as possible, but the door slammed shut, rather loudly, making you cringe. You felt yourself heat up as several pairs of eyes snapped towards you, but luckily the professor, Coulson you remembered, was just gathering papers and hadn’t started yet. Ignoring your peers - none of whom you knew and you weren’t sure if that made it worse or not - you shuffled over to the nearest empty seat a few rows down and to the right. You were surprised and extremely grateful to find it was an aisle seat.
Pulling out your laptop, you huffed when it wouldn’t turn on. You hadn’t used it in your previous class, meaning it was dead before, but you could’ve sworn you plugged it in last night. Whatever. You were fine with pen and paper.
“Aw shit.” You resisted the urge to smack your head on the table as you dug through your bag. Seriously?! You forgot to pack a pen?! That couldn’t have been your only pen, right?!
This is why you were anxious. Next morning, you swore you’d get up early and triple check to make sure you had everything.
You quietly threw your bag to the ground and slumped in your seat, your arms crossed. That meant you couldn’t even doodle! You had to sit there for over an  hour and listen to this guy talk about another syllabus. Joy.
Suddenly, something hit you in the back of your head. You rubbed where it hit and looked down at your feet, eyebrows knitting together at the scrunched up ball of paper sitting there. “Psst.” Another hit to the head made you whip around, glaring at the culprit.
“What?” You hissed before faltering. Damn. Now that was one hell of a specimen.
Steel blue eyes crinkled at the corner as pink lips pulled up into an entertained grin, pearly whites on display. Sharp jawline covered with light scruff. Fluffy chestnut hair styled with the perfect amount of gel fell a little past his ears, with a single pesky strand falling in his eyes. The white shirt he was wearing was loose with a low collar, a leather jacket thrown over it. You could see the combat boots from underneath the table. He was a pretty boy, yeah, but you hung out with (*cough cough* dated) enough guys dressed like him in high school to know his game.
“Need a pen?” He offered in a whisper, holding up the said object.
“Uhm…yes?”
He smirked, leaning forwards in his chair, closer to you. “I’ll let you have it on one condition.” You raised an eyebrow, giving him a pointed look. “Just a name, babygirl. Yours, specifically.”
You rolled your eyes, glancing around the room to see if you were disturbing anybody. Not seeing anyone paying attention to you two, you turned back to him. “Y/N.”
“Bucky.” He introduced himself, reaching over to shake your hand. You took it, a bit hesitant, blinking when you felt something fall into your palm once he pulled back. The pen.
“I, uh, thanks.”
He winked at you, leaning back in his chair, hands linked behind his head. “No problem, doll.”
You turned back to the lecture, holding in your scoff at his pet name, hating the fact that it nearly made you smile. He was definitely a fuckboy and you told yourself before college that you wouldn’t play around with them anymore.
So you tuned him out of your mind for the rest of the lecture and, thank God, you had to rush out of class once it ended because you had to work in half an hour, not even letting the blue eyed pretty boy say a word in your direction.
You worked for the rest of the day, Russo’s for lunch, a few hours break to look over school stuff and have dinner with your family, before Shield from 9 to 1. It was fine. Long, but nothing you weren’t used to already. You really enjoyed both your jobs and you got lucky with your bosses.
Joe and Anthony were brothers who took over Russo’s for their parents. The pizzeria had been in their family for generations, and they gladly took on the tradition. They had kids of their own and dealt with their school, so they were very understanding - almost parental - to you.
Phillips had started Shield after retiring from the Army, wanting to settle down with a place to drink, smoke, and play poker with his buddies. He was stern, but that was to be expected. He always told you, “you can take the man out of the Army, but you can’t take the Army out of the man.” Despite him being strict, though, he was reasonable, and had taken a liken to you since the moment you stepped foot in the bar.
And not only did you like your jobs, the money wasn’t too bad either.
But, despite that, you were still human, and having two back-to-back college classes and then working two jobs for over eight hours was draining.
You made sure everything was ready for the next day before you left for Shield, that way you could just get home, change, and sleep. Tuesday might’ve been a rough starting day, but you’d learn for Thursday, and Wednesday’s morning was definitely better.
Peter even texted you his coffee order, telling you he’d probably be late. You chuckled to yourself when you got the text at breakfast. You totally called it.
In his defense, he really was running late, and you could tell just by looking at him. One shoe untied, hair messy like he just rolled out of bed, sweater haphazardly thrown on like it was an afterthought, which it probably was.
“You,” he puffed, sinking into his chair and taking the coffee cup you held out. “Are my savior and I’ll love you until the end of time.”
You chuckled, shaking your head. “And you, my friend, are so much more chaotic than I thought. What’d you do? Stay up until three last night?”
He shrugged, shooting you an innocent smile while his cheeks turned red. “I got caught up binge watching Clone Wars.”
“Of course you did. Here’s the notes you missed so far.”
He gave you an adoring smile. “Did I tell you I love you?”
“Yeah, yeah. Sap. Hurry and copy them down so I don’t miss anything.”
********************
It was when you were checking your things Wednesday night when you realized you had an extra pen. It took you a moment to remember the blue eyed pretty boy from Coulson’s History lecture, but when you did you groaned.
Your dating record in high school was pretty bad. Not that you would really call it dating. But Whitney was right when she said it was you wanting attention. It wasn’t easy being the middle of seven. But you dealt with it and now that you were across the country from your family - who you loved but Jesus Christ did you need a break - you didn’t need to act out to seek attention.
You were an adult. Meaning you wouldn’t goof off with guys like that anymore. Meaning you didn’t even want to talk to guys like that anymore.
Meaning you were severely regretting taking his stupid pen.
Maybe he wouldn’t notice if you didn’t give it back. Yeah. Maybe you could just ignore him and he won’t even remember that he let you borrow it.
Those were your hopes as you walked into your US History lecture, taking the seat you had on Tuesday.
“On time today? Glad to see we’re learning.” And there go your hopes, crashing straight into the floor, shattering into millions of tiny pieces. Going for ‘not interested’, you quirked an eyebrow, twisting your head as a bag landed on the table next to your open laptop, a body falling into the seat beside you. The leather jacket was replaced with a denim one, his black button up tighter around his chest than Tuesday’s white t-shirt. “And you charged your computer! Very nice, doll.”
You shrugged, going back to your doodling. “Time management’s always been a bit of an issue for me.”
“Ah. Gotchu, gotchu. I’ve got a pal like that too. A couple of them, actually.” He chuckled. “Is that why you high-tailed outta here Tuesday?”
“I’ve got work right after this class.” You answered shortly.
He leaned his elbow on the table, his legs spread as he turned fully to, a slight smirk on his face. “I haven’t seen you ‘round campus before. You new here? A freshman? You don’t look like it.”
You hummed. “Maybe. It’s a big campus.”
“Which you don’t live on.”
Frowning at the question that he said more like a statement, you moved your head back to him. “I don’t?”
He shook his head, setting his cheek in his palm. “Nope. I know everyone who lives on campus.”
A bit distracted due to Professor Coulson just walking in and announcing the lesson for the day, you hummed and shut your notebook and set up a page on your laptop for notes. “Everyone, huh?”
He nodded with a click of his tongue. “I get around.”
There it was. “Oh? A party animal?”
“I wouldn’t say that. My friends and I are just outgoing. We enjoy life.”
“Enjoy life or enjoy getting into girl’s pants?”
He hissed, shaking his hand like he burned it. “Ouch, doll. That stung. For your information, quite a few people in my group are goin’ steady. And we’re of mixed genders and sexualities. It’s not always girls’ pants.”
You raised an eyebrow, turning to him while still trying to pay attention. “For you or your group.”
“Does it matter?” He shrugged. “Would it bother you if I did fuck guys? ‘Cause I have experimented and it’s not half bad.”
“Nope.” You popped the ‘p’, shaking your head. “You do you, pal. Or…do whoever you want to. Now if you don’t mind, I’m trying to-”
He nodded. “Right, right. Yeah. Sorry. Just…listen. I think we got off on the wrong foot. I’m not gonna force you to do anything, you know. Yeah, sure, I’ve seen a few beds around campus, but I’ve got female friends who I don’t sleep with. What if I just wanna be friends with you, huh doll?”
“Just friends?”
“Yup.”
“Really?”
“Uh-huh.”
You narrowed your eyes. “Okay. How many of these so-called female friends you don’t sleep with single?”
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “The list gets smaller, but yeah.”
“How about single straight female friends?”
He paused at that, eyebrows scrunched up. After a moment you clicked your tongue with a slight smirk, facing your computer and typing the notes Coulson was writing on the projector. “Hold on, hold on. Yes, I’ve got a few of them. Listen, babygirl, you’re making this a lot harder than it needs to be.”
You scoffed. “Don’t call me ‘babygirl’ and we’ll see where that gets you.”
“Okay, okay. That’s fair. What? Don’t you believe that guys and girls can be friends with nothing between ‘em?”
“Yeah, I do. Just not guys like you.”
He frowned, eyes narrowing. “Well that’s not fair. You don’t even know me!”
“Mister Barnes.” Bucky winced at the teacher’s annoyed shout, before throwing Coulson a dashing grin.
“Hey, Phil! How was your summer, man? You still goin’ out with that cellist?”
The professor raised his eyebrows, unamused. “Is there something you’d like to share with the class?”
“Oh yeah! Thanks for the reminder, Phil!” Bucky stood up and cleared his throat. “Yo! First football game of the season is next Friday! It’s gonna be a blast! Watch out for number 41! Handsome devil’s gonna score the winning touchdown! Avengers assemble, am I right?!”
Coulson gave him an unamused look as the room cheered, making you laugh behind your hand. Bucky fell back into his seat, shooting you a wink as Coulson calmed down the room.
“You’re a football player?”
“Fullback, yes ma’am. Co-captain of the team, in fact.” He smugly leaned his seat onto the back two legs, setting his feet up on the desk.
Unbelievable. Why were you always attracted to these idiots? A player in both senses of the word. “There it is.”
He blinked, his chair falling forwards with a ‘thud’ that made Coulson shot him a warning glare. Bucky smiled innocently, before shifting his chair so he was turned towards you again, the smile turning upside down. “There what is?”
“That cocky, conceited air you fill the room with. Attention is what you live for. I should’ve guessed you were a jock too. I’m surprised you’re not wearing a letterman jacket or something just to make sure everyone knows who you are.”
His frown deepened. “Look, doll. I dunno what you think you know about me, or what you’ve heard-”
“I’ve never heard about you before you lent me a pen Tuesday. Which I appreciate and here it is back, by the way. But I know your type. I’ve been down that road. So excuse me for trying not to make the same mistake twice.”
He stared at the pen you set down by his bag, before his gaze flitted back to you, but you wouldn’t meet those pretty eyes of his. “Fine. Sue me for trying to get to know the new girl.”
“This is a mainly freshman class. Half the girls in here are new.”
“Yeah, but they’re chattering away with the posse they’ve already discovered.” He nodded over across the room. Your eyes scanned the lecture hall to find that he was right. Most girls were giggling and whispering to each other, no doubt freshman straight from high school. The others were most likely maturing sophomores. “And, hey, if you want extra reassurance I’m not trying to get you in my bed; I don’t fuck with freshman. Nothing against you or anything, just…straight outta high school and all that? Not really my jam.”
You eyed him, before shrugging and looking down to make sure you got the notes Coulson was starting to talk about. “Yeah, well, too bad I’m not straight out of high school, then.”
He tilted his head, an eyebrow raising in curiosity. “So you’re not a freshman. I didn’t think you were.”
“No, I am. But I took a year break between high school and college. But if you didn’t think I was a freshman, that reassurance doesn’t really work, now does it.” He opened his mouth to defend himself, but you continued, not wanting excuses. “What about you? You’re definitely not a freshman.”
“Nah. I’m a junior. I studied abroad for a semester last year and there were mishaps my freshman year, so I’ve got a few classes to make up. My friend had this class last year, so I just took all his notes. Coulson never changes his lectures. Pretty sure he doesn’t even change the tests.” You hummed, pretending you were barely listening when you really heard every word loud and clear. Bucky huffed, reaching out to grab your wrist gently, making you stop typing and look up to meet his eyes. “Can we start over? Please. I don’t know what type of guys you used to know or whatever and, yeah, I’ll admit I started the conversation like an idiot, but I promise I’m not that bad.”
Pursing your lips, you scanned his features, taking in the pleading eyes and the pouty lips. Clearing your throat, you took your hands off the keyboard, straightened a bit, and turned to him, holding out your hand, your full name falling from your lips.
The beam he gave you had you severely doubting your initial thoughts about him, his larger, calloused hand taking your eagerly. “James Barnes. Everyone calls me Bucky.”
You nodded, before starting to type again. “What are you studying?”
“Mechanical engineering.”
You paused, not expecting that answer. Maybe you were wrong - majorly wrong. “Really?”
“Yeah. I dunno. Technology’s always interested me and I like fixing cars and stuff; I work at an auto shop actually. I dunno what I’m gonna do with it yet, but it feels like a step in the right direction, ya know?”
“I’m afraid not.” You shook your head. “I have no idea what I’m doing.”
He chuckled, drumming his fingers against the table. “That’s alright, doll. I don’t think anyone does. They just think they do.”
“That’s…very true, actually.”
He grinned, running a hand through his hair again, his tongue darting out to wet his lips. “I told you: I’m not an idiot all the time. I swear.” That made you laugh.
Bucky talked to you throughout the rest of the class, never going above a whisper as he babbled about his other classes and how one of his friends, Sam, tripped down the stairs that morning. You were almost annoyed at him, but he was a very good conversationalist and he wasn’t distracting you too badly. There weren’t any awkward pauses while he stumbled around for something to talk about and if he wasn’t talking, it was a comfortable silence filled with Coulson’s voice, pen scribbling on paper, and the clicking of computer keys. He never pushed you for responses, either, only asking a couple questions, like where you worked and what other classes you had.
“Sorry if I’m bothering you.” He said a few minutes before class was over. “I’m just bored.”
“No. You’re fine.” Honestly, besides a few flirty comments and that pet name ‘doll’ popping up here and there, he wasn’t as bad as you were thinking.
He went quiet for a moment before clearing his throat, almost nervously. Your forehead creased as you snuck a glance at him. He licked his lips, a hand combing through his locks, scratching the back of his head. You wondered why he did that so often.
“So, uh, there’s this cabin in the woods by the lake about half an hour away…” His eyes widened at the weird look you shot him. “Oh fuck, that sounds so bad. No, no. It’s not - I’m not a serial killer or anything. My friend owns it. Well, technically his dad does, but it’s his. Anyways, he always throws a party the first weekend of a new semester. On Saturday. Noon to midnight. If you’d wanna come.”
You quirked an eyebrow, packing up your stuff as Coulson dismissed class early. “You’re asking me to go to your friend’s cabin in the woods-?”
He shook his head with a little laugh. “It sounds so sketchy. I promise it’s legit, though. Honest. You can ask anyone. It’s Tony Stark’s party. He holds one every-”
“You’re friends with Tony Stark?”
He nodded, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Yeah. We’re in the same circle. I know how it sounds, but-”
“I’m working.” You cut him off, finding it amusing how he rambled. Who knew a fuckboy could get so nervous about asking a girl to a party. “But if you give me the address I’ll see if I can get some time off.”
“That’d be awesome. Yeah, yeah. Here.” He quickly grabbed the post-it note you handed to him and scribbled the address down. “It’d be really cool if you could make it.”
“I’ll try. Cross my heart.” You smiled, taking the paper from him. “I do have to go, though-”
“Oh right. Yeah. Work. I’ll see you this weekend, then. Maybe.” He grinned.
You bit your lip, nodding. “Maybe.”
As he started walking out, you looked down to grab your bag, the pen left on the table catching your attention. “Hey!” You called after him, making him turn around, walking backwards with that grin still on his lips. You lifted the writing utensil to show him. “Your pen!”
He shook his head. “Keep it! I don’t take notes in this class anyways!” He shot you a wink, before spinning on his heel, his hands in his pockets, whistling some random tune, without a care in the world.
**********************
“There she is! So?! How’s school been?! I wanna know!”
You grinned at Whitney as she bounced in, looking at you excitedly while going to wash her hands. “You’re working early today. It’s only 3.”
She shrugged. “They wanted me in before dinner rush tonight. Don’t dodge the question!”
“It’s been fine. I’ve met a couple people, doodled a few things, ignored syllabus talk - the usual.”
She sniggered, moving her eyebrows. “Any cute guys so far?” You thought back to your History lecture and Bucky, who confused the hell out of you. Whitney’s squeal pulled you out of your thoughts. “That’s a yes! Tell me about him immediately!”
“It’s not a ‘yes’. There’s nothing to tell.”
“But he is hot, right?”
You rolled your eyes, but your lips pulled up at the corners. “He’s…very easy on the eyes.”
Whitney gave an excited squeak, quickly drying her hands and putting on gloves before sliding up to you. “So? Tell me all about him.”
“Nothing to tell.”
“Bull.” She called out. “What’s his name?”
You huffed, focusing on the pizza you were making. “Bucky.”
She tried it out on her tongue before nodding. “Cute, cute. How old is he?”
“He’s a junior, so I’m guessing 20. Maybe 21 if his birthday was in the past week.”
Whitney hounded on you for every detail of your conversation, which you told her with some exception, leaving out the pen and some of the random stuff he told you. “So he’s a fuckboy?”
“Oh yeah. No doubt.”
“But he’s a charming fuckboy?”
“Mhmm.”
“And he’s not a dick?”
“So far.”
“So…he’s your type.”
You scoffed, giving her a look. “I don’t have a ‘type’.”
She gave you a bemused expression back. “Honey, it’s not a secret you like the charismatic guys that every girl swoons over. You just don’t swoon over them and that’s what makes you different.”
You scowled. “I don’t swoon over them because they don’t deserve my effort. And no. I don’t have a thing for them. I just…tend to get their attention more than other guys.”
“Because you don’t swoon over them.”
“Whitney-”
“Okay, okay. What happened next?”
You shrugged. “Nothing. He just sorta…talked the entire class. He did invite me to a party on Saturday though-”
“Oh my God! You have to go! College parties are the best! You’ll have so much fun!” She stopped to give you a serious look, pointing a finger towards you. “You’re going, right?”
“I dunno. Maybe. I’ve got to ask Phillips if I can get time off and I-I dunno if I even want to go.”
Whitney groaned, throwing her hands in the air and letting her head fall back. “This is the first party of your college life! There shouldn’t be any doubt!”
“Apparently Tony Stark is the one throwing it-”
“Are you fucking - you can’t not go!”
You snickered, Whitney’s persistence amusing you. “Again. It depends on Phillips. We’ll see. I promise.”
“At least tell me you got this guy’s number.”
“Nope.”
Whitney glared at you. “You are the absolute worst person to try getting drama out of, you know that? You’re not interested at all in this guy?”
You shrugged, turning to throw the pizza in. “Maybe. I wanna try out this whole friend thing first. Tommy’s the first real guy friend I’ve had since middle school and that’s mostly because he’s gay and we barely even talk outside work. I’ve never just…let myself take a break from dating before.”
A sigh came from the other girl, who reluctantly nodded. “That’s good, actually. Take a mental break. I respect that. But please, for the love of God, please try to have fun.”
You smirked, nodding. “I’ve told you, Whit. I know how to have fun. Don’t worry; if I do go to that party, I’ll have enough for both of us.”
“Yes! I have to live college through you now, so it’s your responsibility!”
You mockingly saluted. “I won’t let you down, babe.”

The woods in this area were thick, so thick one couldn’t properly see the sky, at day or night.
Which was what ultimately brought Dan back to that small house with the garden however many days later. It was late and the building was dark, nothing stirring outside or inside. The plants rustled in the cool evening breeze, each flower shining with the silver glow of the moon. He landed in the middle of the garden, on a stone path that meandered through the wide array of grasses, bushes and flowers, in an endless circle. He didn’t follow it, however. He didn’t come here for something as ridiculous as a walk. Instead, he looked up.
Stargazing wasn’t really a hobby of his. Occasionally, when he was younger, at the very beginning of his existence, he would bother to spend some time watching the stars. It reminded him of what he was before, his old dreams of someday joining NASA and sailing amongst them in the void of space. But he had done it only those few times. He learned quite quickly that such memories were far too cruel to him and he didn’t wish to suffer through any pain. He didn’t need more of that.
It was shortly after his last stargazing session that he resolved to never feel a thing again.
It had been a decade since then, but the stars remained the same, blinking down at him from so far away. It was remarkable how much things had changed since then. And yet, so much remained the same. The stars still brought the same memories, the same past. That hadn’t changed, even after all this time, and neither did the pain.
He closed his eyes, brow furrowed, face cast in moonlight. It wasn’t too bad, he decided. This pain was only a dull ache, not the stabbing in his core that similar memories had brought when he was in that cursed thermos. It was manageable. And, after some time, the memories faded entirely. It was just him and the stars and the silence of the night.
His core thrummed in a way he had never felt before. He wasn’t sure what it meant. It wasn’t really happiness, but it wasn’t the pain either.
It was nice, whatever it was. He opened his eyes, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, and continued to simply watch.
Time passed. Minutes or hours, it didn’t matter to him. He just wanted this moment, whatever it was, to last as long as possible. It did, however, eventually have to come to an end.
There was a shift in the garden, a slight difference in the air. A human probably wouldn’t have noticed it, but he did. Instantly he snapped back to earth, crimson eyes glowing in the dark with the threat of his power. He scanned his surroundings, spotting the disturbance almost instantly. There, off to the side, was a pair of trees, shorter than the ones in the wood. Slung among its lower branches was some sort of contraption made from a rough looking cloth. He supposed it could have been a hammock if the person who made it had no idea what a hammock was. More importantly, there was a figure in the cloth, staring at him with wide, fearful eyes.
It looked like his plaything had fallen asleep outside. He cursed himself for not noticing her presence sooner, but couldn’t stay angry for long. He couldn’t pass up on the opportunity for a bit of fun. He smirked, moonlight glinting off his fangs, and vanished.
The woman jumped at the sudden disappearance, looking around the garden as if to catch sight of him. Hesitantly, she climbed out of her make-shift hammock, body tense, ready to fight or run at the slightest provocation. She took one slow step after another, bare feet scuffing against the stones of the path the only sound to be heard. Even the wind had died down. Everything was deathly still. Even she, as human as she was, could sense the presence of something else in the garden, something menacing and predatory watching her. It could only have been whatever she had just spotted in the middle of the garden, the large, intimidating figure, aglow with white flames and crimson eyes.
She can’t believe she let herself get caught outside so late. She needed to get back to the house, before -
She felt something touch her, barely a graze against her arm, sending her flying in the opposite direction, eyes frantically searching only to find nothing. She took a deep, steady breath.
“I’ve been through this shit before.” She murmured to herself. “I can do it again. Just … get to the house. Just get to the house.”
Then there was that voice. That same damned voice from nearly two weeks ago who made the mess out of her groceries was chuckling again, clearly amused at her predicament.
“What makes you think I’d let you do that?”
She could feel the blood leaving her face but chose to ignore it, gritting her teeth as the laughter continued right in her ear. Just keep moving, just get to the house.
She had nearly reached the porch when she froze, panic tightening her throat. The shadows were moving in front of her, the figure forming from the darkness, crimson eyes glowing with a malicious glee. She stumbled back, breath coming out in shallow gasps, only able to stare. He smirked again, crossing his arms and towering over her, far too close for comfort.
“What?” He sneered. “Aren’t you going to the house?”
He could see her take a deep breath, eyes locked onto his.
“Can’t really do that.” She finally said, voice confident but still wavering. “There appears to be a jackass ghost in my way.”
He quirked an eyebrow at that, amused.
“Oh really? How rude of him. You better tell him off, then, otherwise he may never leave.”
“Seriously?” She asked, voice tinged with irritation now. “That sounds like something you’d do if you wanted to be dead, and I don’t really crave death right now. Maybe tomorrow, I don’t know.”
“Then what will you do? Stay outside?”
She shrugged.
“I’m pretty stubborn.”
“And so am I.”
She glared for a moment, brows furrowed angrily over deep brown eyes. Finally, she sighed, shaking her head with a small smile on her face.
“This is really fucking petty, man. At least it was scarier than last time.”
“Thank you.” He said with an amused chuckle. Looks like this bit of fun was over, now that she seemed to have calmed down. Perhaps next time he could try it while she was inside, copy some things from those old movies he used to watch as a kid. It seemed to be those typical things that got under her skin. “Though I have to admit, I still haven’t actually tried all that hard. You’re just that easy.”
She huffed and rolled her eyes.
“Trust me, hot shot, it’s not you. I’m already pretty on edge from … something else.”
He narrowed his eyes at her. It was true, it had been almost too easy to scare her. Even now, he could see how tense she was, scanning back over the empty garden. He of course knew nothing was there, but she had no way of telling. To her, something could be there, hidden in the shadows, ready to attack just as he had and he was sure it would cause some real damage, not his harmless probing.
Curious.
“Not that you’re not big and scary or whatever.” She was quick to amend herself, eyeing him up and down. “It’s just a combination of things getting to me right now.
He tilted his head to the side, face going blank with faked boredom.
“I suppose that means this didn’t count.” He sighed dramatically, looking off to the woods. He could sense the woman fidgeting anxiously, though whether that was because of his presence or because of this other thing she had mentioned he couldn’t tell. “I’ll see you next time, then. Though, You won’t see me.”
With those parting words he vanished, the threat hanging heavy in the hair. A snicker rang out through the garden as the woman jumped back, heartbeat picking up once more. She dashed for the safety of the house, not calming down again until the door had closed behind her.

Spotlight: A Life Of A Troubled Celebrity Heartthrob Ch 9
Spotlight: A Life Of A Troubled Celebrity Heartthrob Chapter 9
Word Count: 3,432
We're going to skip the formalities Ashleigh," Colson strolled into the study and pushed Ashleigh's chair back, "Why did you you do it??"
"Colson I-" Ashleigh looked at him, frightened, "Slim said if I didn't do it then-it would have been me instead," she hung her head in shame.
"Hmm.." Colson held his chin and pretended to be in deep thought, "so you gave up Y/N instead..makes sense I guess," he shrugged.
"What?!" her head snapped up.
"Slim is a crackhead and is blazed half the time..what's your excuse for taking part in this Ashleigh," his eyes were fire and ice all at once.
"He threatened me-" she cried out.
"But you made conscious decision to help him f*ck my wife didn't you?!" Colson shot back, "you even spiked her drink with a double dose of the drug!" He shouted, "why did you do that? Huh?!"
"I was scared!" she said as the tears pooled her eyes,
"Ahhh..I see.." Colson stood up, " are you scared Ash?" Colson got up stared directly into her eyes.
"Y-e-ss.." she gulped and looked at the bodyguards that towered behind Colson.
"Good," Colson said with satisfaction, "it's good that you're afraid," he paced around her chair, "At least I've got the decency to plan this thing in front of you; and not behind your back like what you did to someone that considered you a friend," he stopped in front of her, "Now I'm going to get one of these guys to lock you in a tiny bathroom and have his way with you? How about that? Sound familiar?"
"Don't! Please! I'll do anything!" she fell at Colson's feet and grovelled.
"Guys can I have a volunteer to take this lovely lady into the restroom and do what ever you feel like with her? Actually I want you to go as far as Slim did with my wife..or further maybe? Rog? Andre? You're game?" Colson asked.
"Let me at her Col. I think I will do a good job than Rog over here," Andre motioned with his head.
"No, no, no. Please allow me Col? I will do a better job than Slim," Rog said smugly.
"Okay Rog you're our guy!" Colson patted Rog on the back, "don't worry Ashleigh I'll just turn a blind eye like you did and I hope, for your sake, there's someone that cares enough to come and knock the door down-like I did," Colson stepped away from her, "Hey don't forget to rough her up and spike her drink before-just like Slim did to my wife."
"Waaiiitt! Don't leave me! I'm sorry! Please! Slim made me do it-he-he threatened me," Ashleigh wailed.
"Why didn't you come to me?! You had a choice and you did the wrong thing Ashleigh! That makes you as bad as Slim!" Colson yelled at her, his blue eyes blazing. "By the way-enjoy your stay in prison," he informed her before he left the room.
"Take her away Rog and don't come out until she passes out just like Y/N," Jax looked down at her with disgust.
"Jax! Please don't do this!" she pleaded but Jax was having none of it.
"You saw it fit to do it to Y/N so why should I feel sorry for you? Take her away," Jax said.
"Noooo! Please!" Ashleigh screamed as Rog threw her over his shoulder; to carry out orders.
"How far do you want to take this Colson?" Jax asked as they walked to the car.
"As far as Slim took liberties on my wife," Colson replied tersely, "I want her to experience everything that Y/N went through. She should have a play by play version and we'll see how she feels being in the same shoes."
"So they're not going to actually...?" Jax raised his eyebrow.
"No! I gave them strict instructions not to take it that far," he reiterated.
"Okay," Jax opened the door for Colson and he jumped in.
"Please take me to the hospital? I need to check on Y/N before I lose my mind," Colson sighed heavily, "the doctor has assured me that he didn't..get very far."
"What a relief!" Jax sagged on the driver's seat.
"If he had-I was going to kill him with my bare hands," Colson clenched his fist.
"Not if I got to him first-with a bullet straight through his head," Jax said with conviction.
"I think we need to leave this place. Just me and Y/N," Colson said, "please make the arrangements?"
"Where are we going to this time?" Jax questioned, knowing he was part of the plan.
"Jamaica," Colson replied.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Good morning baby," Colson sat on the hospital bed and held Y/N's hand. Her eyes fluttered open and she groaned.
"You told him," she snatched her hand out of his grasp and turned aside.
"What?!" Colson asked, confused.
"I told you something in confidence," she cleared her throat, "and you told Slim so he could use it against me," she sniffled.
"Sweets.." Colson jumped onto the bed and lay in front of her, "look at me? Please?" he held her face tenderly.
"I honestly have no idea what you're going on about" his blonde hair flopped over his eyes and he tossed it back, "can you at least fill in the blanks so that we can be on the same page?" he stared at her intently.
"He knew," she whispered, "he knew about Bobby," she dropped her gaze.
"Who's Bobby baby?" Colson asked gently.
"My ex," she gulped as she twisted her hands nervously.
"I didn't tell him anything about it sweets. I swear. Maybe he overheard me talking to Jax the other day..I wanted him to help find him so you wouldn't have to worry about him coming back-I didn't want it hanging over your head," Colson explained "plus you never really told me his name.."
"Oh," her eyes focused on chest.
"You like my t-shirt?" Colson joked.
"I've always found plain white t-shirts fascinating," she rolled her eyes.
"This isn't just any white t-shirt babe-it's an original Levi," Colson held out the hem of the t-shirt and grinned.
"I'm sorry for spoiling your night," Y/N apologized.
"Hey..don't do that," Colson held her chin up and gazed into her e/c orbs, "I should be the one apologizing actually. I was supposed to protect you but-"
"Can we not talk about this?" she frowned and looked away.
"Sure," there was an awkward silence. "I'll go and check with the doctor if he's done with your discharge papers," Colson hopped of the bed and left the room.
Y/N looked up the ceiling and sighed heavily. How did she end up in this situation for a second time? If Colson hadn't kicked down the door when he did then-she didn't even want to think about it. She would rather keep it buried in her emotional archives.
"Good morning!" Jax stood at the door with his hands in his pockets, "is there room for one more?" he smiled.
"Jax!" Y/N gave him a genuine smile, "come in!" Jax got to her in two strides and engulfed her in a bear hug.
"You okay kid?" he leaned back and examined her.
"Yeah," she grinned.
"Good. The doctor has given you the green light, you can go home" he nodded with satisfaction, "did your husband tell you that we're going on honeymoon?"
"No Jax," Colson cut in, "but you might as well tell her."
"Tell me what?" Y/N asked.
"We're going to the Caribbean baby," Jax smiled.
"What?! Really babe??" Y/N gushed and Colson nodded with a smile.
"Let's get out of here I need to pack."
***********************************
It was a beautiful day; the birds were singing, the sun was shining and all was alright in the world. For now at least.
Colson woke up early and went to take his usual swim. The beach was deserted as he walked towards the water, in his shorts and his towel slung over his shoulder. He loved to take an early morning swim as part of his workout routine because it helped him to think; and he had a lot of thinking to do this morning.
At the end of this week they were going back to reality and he wasn't sure if he was ready for that. The press that constantly stalked him and pried into his private life unashamedly, his fake friends, the pressure of staying at the top and last but not least his dear mother in law. Mrs Y/M/F/N L/N had called him, breathing fire and threatening to castrate him as soon as his jet touched the ground of Cleveland. He would definitely chose dealing with the press over that any day.
While he understood that she had genuine concerns, Y/N was a grown woman and the only thing that mattered to him. The way he felt about her frightened him. After Dani he had promised to never fall in love again. Love was complicated, it was too intense and it made you vulnerable; but worst of all you could risk getting your heart broken. He had loved Dani more than was humanely possible-he could have done anything for her and he did, but after she slept with his best friend she did irreparable damage to his heart. He couldn't risk it again-and yet he found himself totally consumed by Y/N Y/L/N.
Her eyes captivated him and sent his heart spiraling to the ends of the unknown. When she laughed or smiled at him he felt like he could take on the world. Making love to her was an indescribable feeling..he couldn't put it into words even if he tried. She was always on his mind and he just wanted to be with her all the time. He was selfish when it came to her-he didn't want anyone else around when they were together; he wanted all her attention; all of her.
Colson swam back to the shore, his body was exhausted. He bent over and held onto his knees, trying to catch his breath.
"Smile," Y/N said and as he looked up startled she took a pic with her iPhone.
"Hey sweets," his face broke into a smile and his heart skipped a beat.
"I could wake up to this every morning..some girls have all the luck," she sighed and took a few more pics of Colson in his swimming trunks, water dripping from his gorgeous body.
"You know what Bambi..I think you need to be in the pic as well-"Colson lunged at her and grabbed her, making her wet. She was dressed in a short floral caftan dress which did nothing to protect her.
"Baker!" she squealed, "you're making me wet!"
"Just what I love to hear sweets," he crushed her against his solid chest and their lips merged, melting into each other. He wove his fingers into her silky soft hair and she in turn slid her fingers into his wet hair.
Jax stood behind them clearing his throat and got their attention.
"Just on time Jax-please take a video and post it on Instagram asap okay?" Colson handed the phone to him.
"A video??," Y/N asked. Before she got a response Colson swooped her off her feet and threw over his shoulder. He ran back into the water amidst Y/N's screams and protests.
She landed in the water with a splash and Colson laughed at her as she spluttered in the water.
"Baker you are dead!!" she jumped onto his back and they both keeled over back into the water. Y/N tried to escape but he caught her foot and dragged her back in. They continued a full out make out session and would have taken it further if Jax hadn't reminded them that they were in a public area.
"That's enough you two!" Jax yelled, "breakfast is served, let's go."
"Let's get changed first. Come one," Colson put his arm around her shoulder as they walked back to the villa. They had a quick shower and dressed up before going for breakfast.
"Can't we go out somewhere for breakfast?" Y/N suggested, "We're in the Caribbean so we might as well take advantage of it."
"As mi 'lady wishes," Colson bowed.
"Baker!" Y/N swatted his arm.
"But I went all out and made breakfast for you two?" Jax grumbled.
"Sorry Jax. Guess we will have to stay and eat," Y/N said.
"Killjoy," Colson muttered under his breath.
"Don't worry babe, we can explore after breakfast," Y/N squeezed his arm.
"Ooh, I like the sound of that.." Colson murmured and leaned in to kiss her.
"Can we eat now?" Jax complained.
"I would rather eat what I'm looking at right now.." Colson continued to suck on Y/N's lips and she giggled.
"Gosh! I think I'm going to throw up," Jax rolled his eyes, "I'm going to eat at my villa. I'll leave you kids to it." He threw his napkin on the table and stood up.
"Hey Jax," Colson said, "You're officially off duty. We'll call you when we need you."
"Thank you!" Jax said with a sigh of relief, "at least I won't have to witness you two sucking face any longer."
"Makes two of us," Colson replied. They laughed as they watched him leave.
"You're not a nice person Baker," Y/N said as she nibbled on a piece of bacon.
"I know but I'm still yours," he tucked a lose strand of hair behind her ear.
"Are you really?" she asked with uncertainty.
"Sweets-let's not do this? Please?" he raked his hair.
"So nothing has changed," she nodded and her gaze as she twisted her fingers nervously.
"I'm going for a walk!" Colson pushed back his chair and it screeched as he stood up.
"Fine!" Y/N shouted at his retreating back.
Y/N thought that things had changed. That somehow his feelings had changed and he was finally ready to admit that he loved her, that this was more than a casual fling, that they had passed the stage of testing the waters. She had hoped they had established their relationship on a solid foundation but his outburst had proved that they were still on ground zero.
Two steps forward. Two steps back.
**********************************
Y/N spent the day watching Netflix in the guest room at the villa. She had ordered room service because she didn't feel like cooking. She didn't feel like doing anything but wallowing in self-pity. Colson hadn't shown up for lunch or dinner and Y/N went into further depression. There was a fully stocked bar so she decided to take full advantage of it and drowned her sorrows.
She heard loud music coming from outside so she got dressed in her best outfit and headed out. There was no way she was going to sit at home while Colson was probably out there having a good time. She stumbled into a local club that seemed to be happening tonight and made a beeline to the bar.
"Can I have a cosmo?" she asked the barman and he nodded. She sipped on it slowly and watched the revelers grinding on each other; having a good time.
"Care to dance?" Colson came from behind and whispered in her ear.
"Get lost Baker," she retorted without swinging around.
"Look sweets, I'm sorry for walking out on you," he turned her around and he took her hands, "I shouldn't have done that-please forgive me?" he pouted.
"We can't make progress if that's what you going to do every time we have a fight," she said, "where have you been all day anyway?"
"I went scuba diving and surfing with Jax," he replied. "Can we just be Colson and Y/N tonight? For the rest of the week maybe?" he caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, "No fighting, no arguing-no nothing-good vibes only. Just me and you enjoying each other's company? Can we do that baby?" he implored.
"Okay Baker. I'm sold," Y/N rolled her eyes and picked up her drink.
"I know we need to do grown up talk soon but can it be when we get back home?" he asked, "for now I just want to enjoy my honeymoon with my beautiful and sexy wife," he took her drink and gulped half of it down.
"Hey! Get your own," she slapped his arm. He ordered another round for them and then a couple of more. She was feeling light headed and her face was tingling. The alcohol had clearly kicked in and she could feel it.
"Let's go dance!" Colson pulled her to the dance floor.
"I don't even know how to dance to this music!" she shouted into his ear. She looked around her and all she could see was people gyrating on each other. If they didn't have any clothes on it would have been x-rated.
"There's nothing to it sweets. Just follow my lead," Colson started grinding against her and she followed suit.
They got lost in the moment as their bodies intertwined as they moved to the rhythm of the music. He turned her around and fitted her back into the contour of his body, his hands slowly gliding down her thighs. She weaved her hands in his hair and pressed her backside into him and he groaned into her ear.
"You're killing me Bambi," his lust filled voice whispered into her ear, sending chills down her spine. He gripped her hips tightly and sucked her earlobe and she gasped.
"I learnt from the best," she said breathlessly, as she continued to grind against him.
"Bathroom-now!" he growled.
"What?!" her eyeballs almost popped out. This was so hot but she had to be the voice of reason here. He grabbed her hand and led her to the ladies restrooms, "Colson-you can't be serious?!
"This is Jamaica sweets. We can't come here and not have hot, spontaneous sex in the bathroom," he slammed the door shut and made sure it was locked.
"What if we get caught?" she asked breathlessly, as he planted hot kisses on her neck.
"Too bad-they will just have to hear you screaming my name," he said in a husky voice, before he pushed her against the door and took her right there and then.
Welcome to Jamaica.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of the night was a blur and just when Y/N thought she was ready to head home, Colson told her the night was only beginning.
"We've been invited to an after party at Sean Paul's and I have been trying forever to get a collabo with him. This is my chance," Colson said as they jumped into the limo.
"Can you maybe drop me off at home? I'm totally wasted," Y/N groaned and leaned back on the leather seat.
"Not a chance sweets," Colson leaned in and kissed her until she was breathless, "better?" he asked with a smile.
"Hmmm," was all Y/N could day.
"We won't stay long. Promise," he assured her but they both knew it was a lie.
Colson kept her entertained throughout the night and never left her side. They danced, talked, drank and danced some more. Finally she couldn't stand on her feet any more so they went to sit down again. The people at their table were smoking a joint an passing it around and Colson pulled on it a couple of times before passing it to Y/N.
"No way!" she pushed his hand away.
"Don't tell me you've never smoked weed sweets?" he looked genuinely shocked.
"Never..not interested," she slurred, "I don't smoke."
"This is different. Besides-we're in Jamaica sweets. You can't be here and not experience this," he looked at the joint like it was gold, "come on just try it. Just one drag," he coaxed and his new found friends cheered her on.
"Okay, okay" she relented. Against her better judgement she took it and smoked it until she choked on the smoke.
"Yeah!" everyone cheered for her.
"Well done Bambi," Colson chuckled and rubbed her back.
To this day Y/N couldn't remember how she got home that night.
Colson teased her about it the next day. Apparently she danced on the table and almost did a strip show but he had stopped her just in time. He even got a lap dance.
"You're a bad influence Baker," she groaned and went back to sleep.
