you may have talked about this before but like dazai in 15 just straight up shooting that guy and laughing about it until chuuya stops him?? like that's not just being a feral teen and I don't think we talk about that scene enough

YeAh that scene is. A lot. I found it so disturbing when I first watched it in the anime, I hate it, I love it. Maybe it's a little over the top, but it does a very good job with portraying just how unstable Dazai is since a very young age, how numb and empty he feels. The way he initially looks moved by sincere sympathy and compassion, and the upsetting contrast with the morbid glee upon witnessing another man's death that follows. Establishing that thing Dazai does with asking people for consent when he knows they're not in a position to disagree with him (asking Akutagawa to join and be beaten up in the pm in The Heartless Cur (which tbh I never see being mentioned but?? It's something??), asking Atsushi to join the agency in chapter 2, asking Chuuya to use corruption in chapter 31, asking Akutagawa to protect the ada and save Atsushi in chapter 84). I think it's also a good hint on why mafia environments just don't do Dazai any good, and more in general how Dazai wasn't doing good when he was 15. Makes his later statement about wanting to live hit a bit harder, tbh.

But it's also very cute how Chuuya uses to ground him? It's nice, it's like they were making a direct parallel with Dazai's nullification of corruption. Dazai helping Chuuya coming back to his senses / reason, and Chuuya doing the same with Dazai too. It's nice.

Hi Anne! I hope you’re having a good day. I was wondering if we knew anything about the relationship between the poet Chuuya Nakahara and his wife? Like what relationship did they have? Did they love each other? Anything like that?

I have not been able to find much information in English about Nakahara Chūya's relationship with his wife. This is what I do have:

"In December 1933 Nakahara married Ueno Takako, a distant relative… in October 1934, his first son, Fumiya, was born. Despite his bohemian tendencies, Nakahara was devoted to his firstborn - as he was to all children, whom he regarded as embodiments of prelapsarian innocence… But in November of [1936] Fumiya died of tubercular meningitis. Nakahara was shattered and suffered a nervous breakdown. The birth of his second son, Yoshimasa, in December did nothing to mitigate the grief… in September, fatigued both mentally and physically, he decided to return to Yamaguchi… On 5 October Nakahara fell ill and was hospitalized.. he died on 22 October 1937 for tubercular meningitis. His second son died in January 1938."
