birds of a feather
Summary: Stede likes to think he's very in tune with the needs of his crew. Whether it be crew members who have very big emotions or crew members who feel like children sometimes, he likes to think that he's very connected to their needs. Which is why Izzy Hands drives him up the wall. But, when it turns out that Izzy might not be so different from the other crew members, Stede is excited to take care of his littlest crew member.
Izzy just wishes he could resist being babied, but he loves far more than he'll ever admit.

Tiny Ed has a jealousy problem,,, he's not as tiny as some of the other regressors on the ship and sometimes that means Stede has to look after them a bit, even if it's just for a second, and it makes Ed very pouty. That's his mama! He doesn't want any other babies taking his mama away from him! Of course, that's not what's happening, usually Stede is just looking after them for a moment, Ed will always be his main baby, but that doesn't make Ed any less jealous,,,
also,,, if Stede needs to look after someone else, I promise you if another cg (probably Lucius) saw Ed pouting they'd offer to look after him and he'd be like "NO, I want Mama >:("

Ed being used to being Stede's baby and Izzy's big brother but not both at the same time. When Izzy begins to regress around Stede, Ed just doesn't know how to handle it.
He's been Izzy's big brother for a long time, looked after him alone and with Stede for a while now, but it feels almost wrong to be small with Izzy while Stede is there. He just always feels selfish for making Stede care for them both on his own, because that's not fair, him and Iz can be hard work for just one person, and he loves Stede so much, he doesn't want Stede to feel bad or tired because of him!
Eventually Stede does pick up on how Ed seems to slip halfway when Izzy is small - not quite an adult but refusing to join in any games, change into comfy clothes, being careful to correct himself whenever he accidentally lisps on a word. After Izzy's put down to bed, he and Ed have a talk and discuss all the big scary feelings that make Ed feel like he can't be small when he needs to be.
Stede is very kind and pulls Ed up into his lap, smoothing over his wild hair. He explains that it isn't Ed's job to look after Izzy, especially not when Stede's around, and Stede is a big boy that can take care of other people and make his own choices, that he wants to take care of Ed and wants him to be calm and safe and happy, that Ed is also always his baby and should always feel safe to be small and tiny around him

fictional agere challenge
day 2: a character you hc as a caregiver
note; i never thought it would've taken me THIS long to play rdr2 but here we are!! and Arthur is just my absolute favorite man ever (if it isn't Javier or Hosea) and he is SOOOOOOO caregiver energy like hello???? anyways Arthur is my man and I love him so <3 AND I NEED MORE PEOPLE MAKING RDR2 AGERE STUFF PLSSSSS
headcanons;
He's actually a pretty awkward caregiver... at first. Like he'll try his best but for him, he's not used to taking care of kids so much. BUT we've seen how he is with Jack, so later on, he would be an absolute softie on his little one... and ONLY his little one
He typically does better with older regressors in toddler or kid ages, but that doesn't mean he loves any type of little one that comes towards him. He has a harder time with baby regressors, but he always gets encouragement from Miss Grimshaw and Mary-Beth to look after them
He doesn't usually mind what his little calls him! Though, again, that'll take a little while for him to get used to. Whether it's Uncle Arthur or Daddy, he'd be happy to hear them
He's always been the protective type, especially around his gang. SO you know how overprotective this guy is with his little. He'll put himself between them and anything or anyone that might bother you. Comfort always comes first
That also goes for his guns. They are ALWAYS packed away on his horse or on him where his little one can't touch them, he doesn't want anything bad happening that could turn sour.
He has a no-nonsense policy when it comes to everything. This goes hand in hand with his overprotectiveness. And tantrums are a massive no-no. That's why, usually, all the little ones he would look after are VERY well-behaved once they've been looked after, even in the first few hours. Any rules he has, he takes seriously
Oh, and he will absolutely. Never EVER take his little on a mission with him. Because he knows how violent they can get. Every time he's gone on a mission or even gone for a few days, he leaves his little one behind. Except when everyone is moving to a different camp, of course
Horseback rides are an absolute YES for Arthur. That's his favorite activity to do with his little one. Going out for a nice stroll in the country and even picking herbs or flowers on the way. He helps them saddle up and tucks them right tight in front of him while holding them close to his chest.
I think like the rest of us, Arthur loves to pick up little trinkets and items for his little one! Candy will magically appear behind them. And if there's a book that his little wants, it's right next to the blankets and covers. He won't "spoil" his little per say, but he will definitely get them whatever they want, because sometimes, Arthur can't handle those sweet puppy eyes
I think the ones who are little's in the group are Charles, John, Micha, Sean, Kieran, Sadie, Tilly and Lenny
⬇️ I think Arthur's favorites would be Charles, Kieran (secretly) and Lenny

Hiiii!! Though you haven’t been around long, you’re one of my favorite headcanon writers on tumblr! Could I request a Caregiver!Stede Bonnet with reader if you have time? Your work is incredible :’)
Tumblr media
hello dearie! that is so so kind of you! <3 stede is one of my favourite cgs to headcanon ever! hope u enjoy (I almost wanted to title this one in cursive because it’s so him)
Caregiver!Stede Bonnet x Little!Reader Headcanons
He is absolutely the type of cg to make everything as fun as possible. You want to play hide and seek? He’s creating an elaborate story to go alongside it with mermaids and pirate treasure. You ask him to do a craft? You better believe he’s sent one of the crew to shore to fetch clay and paints.
Speaking of crafts, he’ll literally display or wear anything and everything you make him while regressed. In fact, he urges you to seek out any creativity you do or don’t have! Once you wanted to make him an outfit, so you stole away to his secret closet (one of your favourite places on the whole ship) and splattered crimson paint all over one of his white, frilly shirts. When you brought it to him with a proud look on your face, he gasped and picked you up, twirling both you and the shirt around. I love it! You are so talented, little one. He wore the shirt every day for the next week, even when you weren’t regressed.
Because he comes from a very humble background (total sarcasm applicable here), Stede has mastered the art of comfort, as he likes to call it with a grand gesture. (Not to be confused with the… other art, he once said.) You can bet you’ll never be uncomfortable when you’re around him, physically or emotionally. Squirmy baby that just can’t sleep? Well, of course Stede has an answer for that. He’ll take you by the hand and lead you to his closet, letting you pick any item of clothing that has the most comfortable texture for little you. He’ll offer you hot tea or warm milk, and he loves nothing more than bringing a cup to your lips and helping you drink while you rest your head against his chest.
Stede is also a huge fan of bedtime stories. Apart from his tales to the crew, he loves adding a dramatic bit of theatre to your bedtime routine. He tailors his stories exactly to your mood, softening his voice and letting the sound of water hitting the hull of the ship lull you to sleep, or entertaining you with an hour long epic about the adventures of Blackbeard.
Oh, he’s so incredibly in tune with your emotional needs. He rarely falters in his ability to understand what you need, and he’s able to immediately tell how old you’re feeling just by being in your presence. Feeling smaller today, darling? That’s quite alright. I’ll be right here with you.
He frequently encourages you to play with the other crew members when you’re little as well. He’ll spot you watching Frenchie play music and will take you by the hand to sit with the other, smiling proudly when you let go and clap along to Frenchie’s music happily.
Playtime is always the best time with Stede, although sometimes he can get carried away. Once during hide and seek he jumped out and startled you so bad you burst into tears on the spot. He’s very quick to apologize and soothe your ailments, wiping your tears from your cheeks and promising you a treat from below deck.
Stede will always make sure you’re a happy baby, and if not, he’s always at his best when comforting and understanding your little side.
<3

I think it secretly warms Stede’s heart when regressed!Ed throws a tantrum. Of course he’s not happy, he’s never happy when his baby is so upset, but the fact that kiddo Ed feels safe enough to “”act out”” around Stede practically makes him tear up. The importance of that isn’t lost on him.

i just know small stede felt so sad after giving the suit away! T-T he loved it so much and doing twirls in it!
i can imagine him talking to ed about it later on that night, pouting so much about it because it really was amazing. he goes on and on about it to ed, making sure to mention how flowy and swishy it was just about every other sentence.
pouting about how ed didn't even get to see him in it! didn't get to see him twirl! how nice the color was, and how well it fit him. how the crew tried to rip it apart. and he says it all so seriously, ed can't help but laugh a bit.

Our Flag Means Death season 2 shot a crucial scene in the Avatar 2 tank
A behind-the-scenes look at how Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby shot their big merman moment
[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Our Flag Means Death, Season 2, Episodes 3]
Season 2 of David Jenkins’ pirate comedy-romance-drama Our Flag Means Death has finally premiered on Max, with an opening three-episode arc that’s guaranteed to get the series’ fandom buzzing. The third episode in particular ends with a sequence that feels like it was intentionally crafted to inspire the crowds of fan artists who have turned the series into an obsession. Polygon talked to the series’ VFX supervisor, David Van Dyke, about what went into shooting that sequence — and how James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water helped out.
Tumblr media
At the end of episode 3, Ed “Blackbeard” Teach (Taika Waititi) is in limbo after being assaulted and nearly killed by his crew. There, he meets his former captain Benjamin Hornigold (another of the series’ historical pirate characters, played by Mark Mitchinson), who tries to help him through his emotional crisis over being abandoned by Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby). Except Hornigold mostly helps by pointing out Blackbeard’s failings, then tying a stone to his waist and throwing him off a cliff into the sea — where he sees a vision of Stede as a fish-tailed merman, coming to save him.
“Just so you know, Rhys and Taika did very well underwater,” Van Dyke told Polygon about shooting the scene. “Rhys is not an Olympic synchronized swimmer, but he’s a strong swimmer. They were both very comfortable underwater. They both did a really good job of being mermen.”
Van Dyke says he was originally asked whether he could do the scene with CG versions of the two men, for safety reasons. He explained that it was possible, “but that’ll cost millions and millions of dollars, and we don’t really have that.”
Instead, he ended up shooting the scene practically. Season 1 of Our Flag Means Death was shot on a soundstage in Los Angeles, but for season 2, production moved to New Zealand. That gave Van Dyke a lot of advantages in terms of shooting natural backdrops to use on the production’s giant virtual environment screen, and in using experienced crews from past special-effects-heavy productions, from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies to James Cameron’s Avatar movies.
Tumblr media
“There were definitely a few pieces that were serendipitously to our advantage,” Van Dyke says. “New Zealand was where they shot a lot of Avatar stuff, and there just so happens to be an enormous tank on the lot. There are a bunch of Avatar crew who are SCUBA certified, because they’ve been shooting in that tank forever. This was not something we had to figure out — we didn’t have to send a bunch of grips and lighting technicians off to SCUBA school. So they were there, they had really amazing underwater photography teams, and obviously a really good stunt team that was able to train up Taika and Rhys to make sure the scene was working.”
Van Dyke points to New Zealand’s thriving mermaid freediving community as a boon when it came to designing Darby’s merman outfit. “There are a lot of incredible mer-tails out there,” he said. “We were able to take those, and [costume designer Gypsy Taylor] and her team brought them together to make these beautiful physical pieces, so Rhys was able to actually sell it and do the performance underwater.”
For Van Dyke, the sequence really started with the cliff-jump sequence, which actually used considerably more CG than the underwater shots. “That cliff sequence was a great culmination of effects, merging physical photography and our LED wall, because you can’t really put those two guys on a thousand-foot cliff,” he said. “The insurance alone would be out of control. Also, we’re not really in the business of having people fall to their deaths.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The cliff sequence began with sequences shot off New Zealand’s Bethells Beach, using drones to capture images looking inward from the ocean and photogrammetry of a specific ledge for production designer Ra Vincent and the art department to reproduce in the studio.
“The wide shots use production plates of those cliffs, and the tighter shots use photography we shot specifically to build out the stitching of the cliff sequence,” Van Dyke said. “Hornigold and Blackbeard are standing on a cliff set. We tied in drone plates of the actual cliffs so we can see the ocean and really set up how terrifying [the drop would be]. Then he falls into the ocean, falls into our tank.”
Once Waititi was in the tank, the next step was the shot where the stone tied to a rope around his waist pulls him deep underwater. That part of the scene required more conventional, practical production trickery than the rest of the sequence.
“The tank is massive, but it’s not 300 feet deep. It’s pretty darn big, but it’s never big enough, as they say,” Van Dyke says. “So when Taika is being tugged by the rock, we actually shot that sideways. By turning the camera sideways, you get more length to the shot. The problem is the bubbles — they should be streaming off him and then rising to the surface, but if you’re going sideways, they’re going to come off him and then go up, perpendicular to him. So we took over with CG to make sure our bubbles were traveling toward where the surface was supposed to be.”
Tumblr media
The CG in the underwater sequence was mostly used to hide the lighting and rigging necessary to shoot it, Van Dyke says. “Anytime you’re shooting anything underwater, there’s gonna be a lot of gear. There’s no way you can get around that. So we’re making sure we have [convincing deep-sea] lighting and the bubbles. And then there’s his performance — that’s a real performance.”
For Van Dyke, the real complication was the costuming and makeup for both Darby and Waititi. “Taika’s wig — I was amazed that thing stayed on so long. It’s a long shoot. He was shooting all day, all weekend. But things stayed on. It’s a heavy weight. And Rhys is really working underwater, so his tail has to be working, so it all feels seamless.”
The shot in the underwater sequence that seems most likely to be a CG creation has both men just floating deep in the sea, facing each other above a seemingly endless abyss. Again, Van Dyke says, he used very little CG for that shot, and it was mostly to hide the tank walls.
Tumblr media
“In that case, we were not shooting sideways,” he said. “It’s essentially a locked shot. It was about getting them at the right depth underwater, and making sure the shafts of light above them were working properly. We don’t have to track as much, we don’t have all these moving elements, we don’t have to worry about where the bubbles are going. That one was really just about cleaning up the tank, doctoring out the sides of the shot, where we can see the water receding into blackness, then giving the base of the tank true depth, so it really feels like they’re suspended a hundred feet below the surface.
“Obviously, a fair amount of CGI and visual effects had to go into it. But at the same time, it was a moment where we really needed to let the story take over, and have the visual effects just get out of the way, man.”
The first three episodes of Our Flag Means Death season 2 are now streaming on Max.

Lucius organizes a LOT of different art projects for the tiny ones on board. Sometimes they're just for fun, but other times they're to help little ones get a better idea of what they’re feeling! Being small can be overwhelming, and it helps to pause and think about what they're feeling.
So Lucius asks the regressors to draw how they feel when they're regressed!
(I'm focusing on Ed and Stede here, but if anyone wants to add what they think the others would draw, please do!)
Ed takes the prompt pretty literally.
Tumblr media
He feels like himself, but smaller! Of course, the emotional side of things is much more complicated, but this is how he chooses to interpret it. It definitely still gives a look into how he thinks when he's small, based on the fact that he chooses to answer the prompt this way.
Stede, instead, focuses on how being regressed makes him feel emotionally.
Tumblr media
It's definitely a teensy bit worrying for any cgs around, but it's a very helpful look into how he feels, something he's not always the most keen on sharing. Lucius decides to help him with some further art therapy when he's regressed, as he definitely has an easier time expressing himself and getting his feelings out that way!

Ficlet | Duckies
"Come, darling, hold my hand please!" Stede wiggles his fingers at the end of his outstretched arm.
Izzy takes his hand with a tight squeeze, fingers clammy and cold.
They're out on their property, a good few acres away from the house. The grass out here is much softer, much thicker, but also squishy enough that Izzy, clumsy as he is when he gets all small and soft like this, could easily trip.
The air is colder, settling into the cooler months, and Izzy's cheeks show a rosy red flush from underneath the scarves and beanie and earmuffs that Stede had wrangled on him on the drive over. The thick wooden sweaters layered on him seem to prove against the rattle of the cold air, his oversized bottle-green coat shielding him far better than Ed's worn leather, which he's trying to hide his shivers behind.
They walk, slower for Izzy, across the patchwork swathes of grass that cover the huge arching hills all around them. The grass thickens into patches of weeds and plants that dance in the wind with a sort of fluff sprouted out the top of each stem. Izzy reaches out to grab it a multitude of times, and eventually Ed swoops in from beside and takes his other hand, dug out from the warmth of his cotton lined pockets, to keep him from tracking any back into the car or the house.
Tucked back behind the sweeping masses of yellow budded weeds, the rounded edge of a still pond sits untouched, smooth enough to show the sky in a glazed reflection.
"Baba was out here, and he found something he wanted to show you, Angel boy."
Izzy pouts up at Stede as they pad through the soft patches of grass. He's still not a fan of his sweet and sugary nicknames, even now.
He turns to Ed. "Why were you out here? 'S cold."
Ed nods. "For sure, it's cold. I came out here for a walk. I wasn't feeling very good and thought a walk might help me."
Izzy's face twists up in a mixture of confusion and mild disgust that makes Ed giggle. "Walking doesn't make me feel better," he says, looking back down at where his gumboots kick at the camp clumps of grass in front of him.
Ed huffs a small laugh. "No, no, I know you don't like walking, I'm not gonna make you go on a walk."
Izzy nods, punctuating Ed's sentence with a petulant hum.
"What we're actually here for," Ed says, swinging his and Izzy's clasped hands, "Is so that I can show you something I found out here."
Izzy's head falls to the side in an open show of confusion. "Like... a scavenger hunt?"
"No, bug," Ed laughs, inky hair cutting through the icy wind, "I don't think so."
Izzy nods, seemingly satisfied, and keeps quiet.
"Stede, did you...?"
"Oh! Yes,"
Stede rummages around in his back pocket and produces a tightly packed paper bag, rounded at its stuffed edges.
Before Izzy can even really look at the damn bag, let alone decipher what might be inside, Ed it already tapping at his cheek, trying to garner his attention.
"Come here, follow me," he says, taking both of Izzy's hands and leading him down closer toward the fraying edge of the meeting grass and water. Ed crouches the closer he gets to the pond, and so Izzy does the same, crouching down so that he has to walk funny to keep up with Ed.
"Look, look, look," Ed splays out his pointed finger, close to Izzy's eye-line so that he can also follow in the same direction. "Down in the reeds, Iz, can you see it?"
Izzy squints his eyes, peering closer at where the tall stalks of reefs cluster around the edge of the pond.
Ed looks up to Stede, excited grin obscured by a bitten lip, and is met with an equally excited smile as Stede's dart between Izzy, Ed, and the base of the reeds.
Izzy's focused gaze turns sullen, wide sad eyes peeking up at Ed over a little pout. "I don't see anything." He whispers. The deepening curve of his frown paired with the obvious note of the lump in his throat made Ed's heart twinge.
"Nah, keep looking, bub, look over there!"
Izzy tries looking again, though not without an indignant little huff, and grumbles in the back of his throat.
"Baba I don't-" his whining is cut off by a little gasp.
Ed grins "See?"
"Baba, Baba, look!" Izzy squeals, flapping his pointed finger over towards the reeds.
"I know, I know!" He stage whispers, wrapping one arm over Izzy's shoulder and the other taking his waving hand and holding it still against Izzy's tummy. "Shhhh, baby, we gotta be quiet."
Izzy nods, mouth hung open in unadulterated glee, and Ed listens to his rushed breath with an ever growing grin.
Across the sleek edge of the pond, tiny ripples begin to break the surface of the water. Between the tall dark stalks of reed comes a flurry of yellow. a gaggle of little ducklings paddle out into the water, dipping their heads down into the water and shaking it off their beaks with quick twitching movements.
Six or seven slip out from between the browning stalks, some purely yellow and others spattered with greying feathers. Behind them follows a white duck, spotted grey feathers spread down across its back and tail.
"Baba!" Izzy whispers, hand fisted in the front of Ed's shirt and knees splayed out in the wet mud. "Duckies."
"I know!" Ed giggles. He appears almost more excited about the ducklings than Izzy.
Ed glances up to Stede, out of Izzy's view, and gestures quietly.
"Oh! Yes!"
Stede timidly steps over, much more careful of the mud and dew than either Ed or Izzy, and crouches down on Izzy's other side.
"Do you know what this is, pumpkin?" He asks, holding open the little paper bag for Izzy to peer down inside.
"Pellets." Izzy mumbles around the finger in his mouth.
"For?"
"Duckies."
"Good job!" Stede gives Izzy's cheek a fluttering kiss. "Can you hold out your hands for me? Together, please,"
Stede pours a good portion of pellets into Izzy's cupped hands, folds the bag and puts it away. If all goes well, they might be able to come back again.
"Here, bub," Ed murmurs, taking a small pinch of pellets and throwing it out over the glassy surface of the pond.
Before Izzy can even begin to complain about Ed stealing his duck food, the ducklings one by one begin to flock to the trail of floating pellets, swimming closer and closer as they chase crumb after crumb.
"Here, here, baby, hold our your hands," Ed grasps onto Izzy's wrist and gently helps him lean forward. Stede hooks his hand in the hood of Izzy's coat and holds on tight, if only to stop him from plummeting face first into an icy pond.
Izzy's cupped hands are thrust out over the water, lowered down slowly for the gathering flock of chirping ducklings to curl around the edges of his palms.
The soft overlapping chirps of the little ducklings is like white noise, filling up the empty air around them as Izzy smiles and squeaks under his breath. He looks up over to Ed every few moments, searching for reassurance and finding it in Ed's resounding returned smile.
Izzy hums under his breath - almost an excited squeal with the pitch it's at - when the mother chitters and takes her own turn at the food piled in his hands, soon dwindling.
"Mama duck..." Izzy hums, craning his neck to view more of the spotted white duck.
"Yeah, that's the mummy duck," Ed whispers, tucking a stray lick of hair behind Izzy's ear.
"Look, precious," Stede murmurs, pointing back over to the reeds where a dark duck floats idly, "That's the daddy duck."
"Why's he over there?" Izzy chirps, gaze trained religiously on the ducklings around his hands.
"He's watching over his family," Stede explains, hand tracing over the edge of Izzy's shoulder. "He's making sure they're nice and safe."
"We're not gonna hurt them." Izzy states, like it were fact, which they suppose it is, as Izzy is too timid to hurt a fly let alone one of these little ducklings.
"No, we're not," Ed says, petting Izzy's shoulder, "But he's watching just in case. Daddy has to protect his baby duckies, doesn't he?"
Izzy nods firmly.
"Can we... can we feed the daddy?"
"Sure, kid, do you want to do it or do you want me to do it?"
Izzy inspects the twittering ducklings eating out of his hands, brows furrowed. "Um..." he looks between the ducklings and the dark brown duck across the way, "Can you?"
"Sure thing, bub," Ed nicks a small handful of feed from Izzy's hand and tosses it across the water. The dark duck paddles forward and dips down to scoop the feed up in it's bill.
"Does he feel better now?"
"Yeah, I think so," Ed says, knocking his forehead against Izzy's, "It would be hard work protecting all those babies, but now he's got a nice treat."
"Uh huh."
"Are your hands all empty?"
Izzy frowns as a few of the little ducklings float back away from his cupped hands.
"Oh," he pouts, "I think so."
Ed pats his back. "That's okay," he says reassuringly as the last of the feed is snapped up by a particularly hungry duckling, "Now that your hands are empty, would you like to pat one?"
Izzy hums happily as he tips the last of the crumbs into the water, dusting off his hands. "Yeah," he hums, chewing on his bottom lip.
"How about that one, precious boy," Stede points out a pale yellow duckling, still trying to scoop up the slowly sinking crumbs of feed.
Izzy timidly reaches his hand over to the little thing and gently brushes over it's bill, then softly pats the space between it's eyes.
He's usually very quiet like this, even when he's old enough to hold an actual conversation, but he hums delightedly as he pats down the duckling back, downy wings. spread out and flapping excitedly.
Ed eventually reaches his own hands out and delicately scoops the little bird up and out of the water, setting it in Izzy's cupped hands.
"Ew," Izzy giggles squeakily, "It's all wet on me."
Stede laughs. "It's just water, darling, it's not wee or anything."
"Okay." Izzy huffs, eyes focused on how the little duckling pads around in his hands on wobbly little feet, cuddling up against his thumb.
"Isn't he cute?" Stede whispers. "Such a little darling."
"Yeah..."
"Do you like the duckies, Iz?"
"Uh huh..."
"You wanna come back, bug?"
"Yeah,"
Ed and Stede share a laugh as Izzy's responses grow shorter and shorter and his fixation of the little duck grows.
After a while of Izzy's breathy humming and gentle petting of the little duckling, the big white duck begins to quack loud and fast, kicking in the water and slowly beginning to float away.
The ducklings gathered close to Izzy and Ed follow after her in a flurry of rushed motions, slipping over each other as they follow their mother away.
"Mummy duck says that it's time to go," Ed whispers, clearing the confused look on Izzy's face and replacing it with a much more solemn one, "Put your ducky back now, ducky needs to go home with it's family."
With help from Ed, Izzy lowers the little duckling back into the water, and it chirps brightly as it joins the end of the line behind it's mother.
"Bye bye," Izzy waves, "Goodbye."
"Good boy, Iz," Ed coos, giving his cheek a fluttering kiss, "Nice work."
"You're such a smart boy," Stede continues from behind them both, "So gentle and kind with the ducks."
Izzy hums again, leaning into Ed's chest and squishing his cheek up.
Ed traces his fingertips over Izzy's cheek as they watch the ducks swim away, Izzy half in Ed's lap and head tucked under Ed's stubbly chin.

Izzy Hands As a CareGiver! (SFW) 🏴‍☠️
Tumblr media
This man! He is my comfort character! ❤️ I think he would just be the sweetest Cg in the world!
Though he is a rule and regulation kind of guy, he is very chill when it comes to being your Cg.
He makes you little gifts, like the wooden shark. He had made you a set of horses, and a wooden sword.
Whenever there is a bad storm he holds you close and will sing to you till you fall asleep.
When Edward went a little nuts, he hid you in the walls of the ship and kept you safe and hidden.
When you are bored he lets you paint his leg and draw “tattoos” on his arms. (Has had his favorite drawing actually tattooed.
has let you do his makeup, or design a ‘look’ for Wee john to recreate.
Like to take you on adventures when you are on shore leave.
Isn’t the best at reading but will do his best to read Stedes book or he will make up stories to tell you.
Has let you put bows and braid his hair once it's long enough.
Is very over protective of you especially after everything that happened with Blackbeard.
When there is no one around he wraps his jacket around you and lets you wear his cravat.
He is very gentle! He’s more than willing to kill someone for you.
He likes to do your hair in the mornings, so that’s it’s out of the way while working.
Even though you're small he makes sure you know how to use a sword, just in case something were to happen.
Likes to create little tasks for you to do, to help around the ship.

The real challenge was finding a pic of Stede that has CG vibes and where he didn't look like he was about to cry LOL
Honestly the first time I watched OFMD I immediately clocked this dynamic. Like "yeah, that grown man right there. That's a baby. And that other grown man is his mama."
