requested by anon ! i don't tend to have cg ambessa thoughts like i said in my last ambessa post but i've gotten a bunch of requests for her so i will be giving the people what they want ! (*-`ω´- )人 again i did my best to write her in character but apologies if she strays ooc. anon brought up an infant regressor as a chance for her to heal and redo motherhood and i found that a touching thought. thanks for the idea nonnie , i hope these are satisfactory ! (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) ack i got a bit carried away , once i got going the thoughts overflowed. arcane masterlist here , upcoming masterlist here

mentioned it in my last ambessa post but ambessa calls you "my kit" or "my cub" to your face and refers to you simply as "the kit / cub" to her servants. "be a dear and get the kit a bottle" versus , "ah ah , drink slowly , my cub."

ambessa who holds you very gently in her lap while you drink your bottles , patting your tummy when you get full. one large hand guides the bottle while the other arm keeps your head upright what with you being so tiny.

she often tickles your tummy , kissing it and blowing raspberries. she chuckles , a deep rich chortle of delight as you blush and giggle , kicking your feet happily.

she always dresses you up nicely in the colors of the medarda crest so everybody will know you're her baby. she'll coo at you in your little outfits , quite satisfied with herself for dressing you up so well. she'll carry you over to a mirror , pointing at your reflection. "that's you , my kit. don't you look dashing , i've done quite the job , don't you think ?" she'll chuck your chin as you giggle and clap enthusiastically.

your regression is healing not only for you but also for ambessa. she freezes the first time you call her "mama" or something in that vein , thoroughly shocked and not quite sure how to feel at first. the ever stoic ambessa finds herself tearing up for the first time in God knows how long , a smile pulling at her full lips as tears of joy and of pride threaten to fall.

ambessa finds herself comforted by how clingy you are , how much you need her. it's a big job to take care of an infant yet she welcomes your regression , scooping you into her big strong arms and cradling you ever so gently , hugging you tightly as if to reassure herself that you're really there.

ambessa takes no nonsense , holding you to her high standards. of course with your being so tiny she doesn't have too many rules in place but she does not take kindly to tantrums or needless fussing.

ambessa practices her tone when she's alone , careful to be sure never to snap or speak too sharply to you. it takes work and rehearsal ; admittedly she's a bit rough around the edges in the early stages of your regression.

ambessa loves to hold you whenever possible. she's strong enough to pick you up with little effort , keeping you on her hip as she tends to her smaller duties , bouncing you when you start to fuss. "oh hush now pet ," she'll soothe , reaching into a pocket before coming up with a red and black teether.

ambessa spoils her baby rotten , often pretending to be shocked when more parcels with your name on them arrive. she has them addressed to "the kit" as mentioned in the last post , picking up the tag on an item and tutting approvingly. she has to help you open the items with your being just so itty bitty. she'll brandish that plushie you were eyeing , a wide smile spreading across her face as your eyes widen and you babble excitedly , squirming on her hip as you reach for it.

ambessa who is initially a bit squeamish at the thought of changing diapers , something she often left for the servants when her biological children were small. although she's anxious in the beginning she is so very gentle with you , using just enough powder and kissing your tummy when you wriggle or squirm. "ah ," she'll sigh with satisfaction when you're all finished. "there we go , nice and clean." she'll nod approvingly. "you did well , my darling ," she'll add , kissing you softly on the head.

ambessa who will sing to you to get you to sleep , holding you in her arms , rocking you gently. her singing voice is a bit rusty , hasn't had much use since mel was small , but she sings you soft lullabies , spinning the mobile above your crib for you to watch.

ambessa who can be a bit of a snob , only buying the best for her baby. she will only buy items of the utmost quality , saying no if she feels something you want is cheaply or shoddily made. she often has toys or other items commissioned to be specially made so that they will be just perfect.

When Viktor is injured by Jayce you’re there. The resounding blast injures you and your previous interactions with the arcane alter you. Before Ambessa and Singed come you're in his lap. Crying and sobbing so quietly. Begging for him to come back and read to you like he always did- pushing his soaked fabric back and forth into his skin. The resultant sounds echo into the space but you don’t hear it over the pounding of your heart and wet sobs.

When Ambessa and Singed do come- they look you over. Watching your distrust and overprotective prowess. The dirt on your cheeks and the dried tear streaks, the raggedness of your clothes and the obvious blight of the arcane on your skin. You crowd over Viktor and don’t allow them to get close to either of you until she instructs one of her soldiers to come and take you.

“If it wants to act wild, put it in a cage.” She says, staring down at you over the line of her nose before dismissing the soldier holding you by the scruff.

For days, it feels, you are held up in a cell. Watched by red and grey guards with sharp eyes and even sharper tempers. You feel lost and the constant buzzing under the blight of the arcane sometimes becomes unbearable. You scratch at it and roll in the dirt of the cell. All gnashing teeth and flying fists. Trying and failing to pull its roots from underneath your skin until Ambessa shows up at the iron bars of the cell you’ve been forgotten in.

She once again stares down at you from the line of her nose. Mouth fixed in a way that makes you feel like she doesn’t want to be here any more than you do. For a moment, the buzzing dies down- becomes bearable. Your breath is labored- anger confused with other swirls of emotions and thoughts that cloud your judgement. All you feel is that familiar buzzing outside of yourself now- in your fingertips up your arm. It by far, is not pleasant- like the very fabric of your arm is being torn at its seams. It only serves to further your anger and you charge at Ambessa who snatches you up just as fast.

“It seems you’ve inherited the same affliction as him..”

Your rage is lost in the ocean of your confusion. She dangles you by the arm, eyes scrutinizing the way your blight acts under her touch. Then she sets you down. A gentle lowering of your bare feet against the dirt before your crumbling into a heap on the floor. The metal bars which have crowded you in for what feels like an eternity disappear with a look. Her eyes are set on you, light brown that feels like hot fire when they take over your scuffed and dirty appearance. She’s turning her back before you can analyze her the way she did you, yet the metal bars remain just as open as they’d never been before.

“Come, child.”

You perk up at her beckoning and she side-eyes you, a look that demands you come, and then you’re scrambling to your feet and running to her side.

The walk is long and your feet begin to hurt from disuse. Ambessa’s own strides are long and purposeful while you shuffle against the pavement. Your arm buzzes in the silence and you’re sure she can hear it with the side glances she keeps shooting your way. It is that familiar discomfort again- you want to roll in the dirt again and scratch and groan- but you bite your lip for fear she’ll send you back to the cell. The proximity seems to only make the buzzing worse, her warmth like an attraction to your blight. As the walk continues you work up the will to reach out for her hand. Just two fingers between your palm that silence the discomfort to dull solitude.

At the point of contact, she doesn’t push you away or immediately make you do the long walk of shame back to your cage. All she does is glance at you for a long minute- eyes like fire boring into your own as you stare at her with almost the same intensity. You end up looking away first, but that doesn’t make her pull her fingers away- and for the rest of the walk your blight is a cool relief which you hadn’t been privy too until now.

However, the following actions are one of blurry and confusing compositions. She brings you into an unfamiliar room. People dressed in difficult to explain clothing crowding around you, their close contact enough to satisfy the discomfort without Ambessa nearby. Still, all these unfamiliars are disconcerting and overwhelming and you find your voice enough to call for her who begins to close the door and leave you behind.

Ambessa concedes to your call for a while. Watching you be immersed in hot water and cleansing scents you’d been otherwise unaware of until now. She laughs when they go to take care of your hair and body measurements. It’s all a very overtly uncomfortable ordeal that you come out of unscathed. Clothed with the same blood red and strips of black and gold as her. Hair in neat, identical plats on the side of your head. You reach for her hand again in the absence of any warmth but she dodges and places her fingers on the small of your back, guiding you out of the room and into a brighter, stark white one.

All at once your knowledge of where you are becomes clearer. There is a big purple ball in the center of it all and the familiar faces that take care of you are there- laying on the floor in odd positions. Still, you know they’re not dead- their surface blight glowing with the rapid beating of your heart. Your eyes are drawn to the orb though, an inexplicable feeling blooms in your chest. One that you can’t describe, that urges you to grab hold of your heart in whatever way you can. One of those faces looks up, recognition deep within his eyes. He goes for your hand after catching his balance, a soft smile on his face that falters when he sees the condition of your skin. You don’t see it, to wrapped up in your own emotions. Still, you know exactly who that is.

“Hello, Nabi…” he whispers, arms held out for you to jump into.

i do have quite a bit of clips in the works to polish tonight before uploading tomorrow, so i hope it is something to look forward to!! but after everything the majority of the cast are vent regressors with different leans/dynamics,, especially vi, mel, and jinx give my girls a BREAK!!!

vi and jinx having to see their father be killed and resurrected on multiple occasions was so painful to watch,, like can we give them ONE stable paternal relationship pretty please /j

i am 100% convinced at this point that both jinx and vi are canonical regressors. i don't think i need to reiterate jinx/powder being a regressor since many people in the agere fandom have discussed it (and not mad about that in the slightest, i'm so glad to see it! if you firelights want to hear about my thoughts then feel free to send a flare! i'd be happy to share.) but seeing vi regress to her teenage self multiple times throughout the show was enough for me to slap the label on her as well.

niche agere opinion as well,, but can we appreciate heimerdinger in a cg role as well? specifically as a mentor? it was so comfy seeing him as a professor and being ekko's support line throughout the chaos. ((and guys i promise he's alright!! yordles are immortal <3))

General Arcane Headcanons under the cut!

Vi

Vi (to me) has biiiig flip Vibes. Like her instinct to help and protect others bleeds into CG mode when with a very small little, and it could potentially also help her heal from her trauma w/ Jinx by "trying again", if that makes sense. And plus! She gets to have fun again, play with her little one!!! Yay! But she is DEFINITELY a little regressor, too. I think her regression age would vary from toddler to teen, depending on her environment and who she's with! She gets to heal in so many ways like that :)

Caitlyn

Caitlyn...... Mama mia. She's also a flip. Definitely more of a Mama CG. I think that being able to care for someone helps her learn who she is, because, you know, it's evident she was extremely sheltered as a kid, so i think that, to be able to take care of someone that isn't herself might help her in general. Also she would looove being able to plan tea parties with her little, take them to the garden, perhaps even have a plant the little takes care of. Teehee. Although she Definitely regress. I don't think she regress to any specific age, it's just... A general feeling. And i think she only regresses around Vi, as she's one of the only people she trusts. And when she's really emotional/upset (looks at her mother's fate). Get her away from Ambessa btw.

Ekko Also a flip leaning caregivier. But tbh i think he's a big brother/guardian cg. He knows how to take care of his little one, keep them safe, entertained and he loves it. Loves seeing the joy in their eyes. So in general i think he caregives most of the time. But, he does have those small moments. I'm thinking specifically when Vi hugs him in S1. When he's by himself, or with people close to him, he has those moments where he regress, before he saw everyone die. Just to be happy and free again.

Jinx 100% a regressor. She involuntarily regresses a lot in S1. Constantly teetering to the edge of it all. And it's pretty self evident as to why. It's also a v common symptom for people with BDP, if I remember correctly. But, I do feel that that constant regression subsides in S2, and those moments become more like just quiet moments of regression, a small peaceful moment amidst her suffering. Though, i do feel that, she is a situational caregiver- Isha being the perfect example. She doesn't necessarily willingly become a caregiver, but she does seem to have small bursts of it, depending on the situation.

I was thinking of finally making one of these without a D20 show, but I wanted to see it fight Critical Role. Opinions on each below the cut. There may be spoilers for any of them, especially since most of these are shows where I'm watching the newest season.

Sasaki and Miyano: Put this one on hold, not because it’s bad but if you are familiar with some of the other entries in this poll, I think you can understand. Very cute and they use the shoujo filter a lot.

The Legend of Vox Machina: I knew Percy wouldn’t stay dead (since he appears in a later campaign), but that didn’t make it hurt any less. Good stuff in the most recent season. I honestly thought they were bringing the show to a close with everyone heading separate ways, but there was foreshadowing so I guess there's more (I haven't seen the actually DnD campaign so I don't know where things end). Most of the characters got some development except Grog, and I think Pike could have gotten more. (Grog got quite a bit in the second season so I think it evens out at least)

Blue Lock: Hahaha this is a very underwhelming second season and that is due to the animation. I’m no expert in animation but once it was pointed out, I couldn’t ignore it. (Watching the Haikyuu movie also made me remember good animation). The CG was already pretty bad and now it's just yikes.

Heaven Official's Blessing: In comparison to the previous entry, this is so pretty. Watching the English dub because I wanted to see Howard Wang as Xie Lian. Nothing too eventful has happened yet, but I like it a lot.

Dimension 20: A Crown of Candy: I knew this was an intense campaign going in and it really is. The stakes are set up very early and only get higher and higher. I'm currently at the fight in the cathedral and I know it ends badly already but I'm still scared of what's going to happen.

Arcane: WOO NEW ARCANE SEASON. As of posting this, only the first three episodes are out, but it's wild. Animation is fire as always. So many interesting things have been set up. Jinx's activities in the Underworld. Vi being forced to choose whether to side with Piltover or Zaun. Viktor with the Hexcore seemingly inside him. Jayce, Ekko, and Heimerdinger learning more about the Arcane. Ambessa settling in Piltover's affairs. And Caitlyn!!! I honestly think she's the most interesting with how her mother's death has affected her. I'm so excited to see the rest of it.

Outer Banks: I watch this show because my sister's into it and yet I'm ahead of her in terms of watching it. I don't know how necessary a season 4 was, but it's not been too bad so far. I hate Rafe though. And JJ's been making some decisions that annoyed me even though he is my favorite.
