I personally choose to believe that the Hunger Games series is supposed to be Katniss's memoir/way of setting the record straight about her and her loved ones part in the Games/war. I love how messy Katniss and Peeta were lowkey. Like Katniss saying she’s choosing Gale over Peeta, yet spending all her time with Peeta. She’s also thirsting after him and his eyelashes. LITERALLY , the guy Gale is most worried about lmfaoo Peeta thinking that Katniss is with Gale, yet shamelessly flirting with her and cuddling/being overly affectionate with her behind close doors.

Then it really gets messy in MJ, where Katniss is like “yeah just like how it felt wrong kissing Peeta bc of you” to Gale, and several chapters later she legit kisses Peeta in front of Gale, bc that’s is her mf man. And Peeta like spilling the tea about how he and Katniss slept together (obvi not like that) during the victory tour in front of Gale, like ik Gale felt his stomach dropped. And then Peeta back peddling at Gale “oh yeah it’s you who she’s loves, not me,” and atp Gale reaction is to laugh at Peeta’s face. Like Peeta and Katniss really are messy, and I love that bc they’re so down bad for each other, especially Katniss with her pearl and fantasizing Peeta’s lips and hands on her.

Okay so we know Maysilee was the previous owner of the Mockingjay pin,

BUT

There is no mention of the pin as Katniss and Peeta watch the 2nd Quarter Quell footage (I don’t think this is an oversight on Katniss’s part: At this point she has an inkling that the mockingjay is connected to the rebellion and wouldn’t she (or Peeta) be hyper aware of it, especially while watching its previous owner?!?!) - leading me to believe that the pin was not her token and never saw the inside of the arena prior to 74th.

So

What if we discover that Maysilee was in fact wearing it and all footage of her with the pin was erased after the initial airing?

It's so sweet that even though Peeta was in an arena of death and has almost died multiple times in the last few days, he still takes a pearl and gives it to Katniss in the sweetest way possible. And even though she is electrocuted and fights for her life, she still manages to keep it.

the fact that after the rescue katniss wanted to kiII peeta so the capitol couldn’t hurt and torture him makes me feel even more sick because that’s exactly what happened and despite giving her all and having spent the catching fire book making decisions based on what would keep him alive in the end she couldn’t save him from that.
