Cerave Moisturizing Cream: A Review
Tumblr media Tumblr media
| Oct 9, 2022 |
When formulating my skincare routine in July 2021, I was looking for the perfect moisturizer to top it all off. As someone with dry skin, this was probably the most important step to include in my routine so I was going above and beyond to find a moisturizer that would suit my skin type, drugstore or high end. After watching countless videos and reading countless reviews, I found this tub which loads of people with my skin type loved and the 'sold out' tag on every website was the cherry on top.
Usage: I used it on a bi-daily (is that a word?) basis for my morning and night routine as the last step (or second last for the day before SPF).
Overall: I can explain how I feel about this tub in one sentence: I bought a second tub (pictured here!) in July this year before my first one ran out so I don't have to live a single day without it. The texture is rich, thick and creamy while simultaneously having a simple ingredient list, which is why it didn't irritate or break my skin out. This is a dry (and sensitive) skin dream-cream. Anyone with dry skin knows that sometimes you need a generous amount of cream to slather on day and night to keep your skin hydrated, and the fact that this tub has a 539g version of it for a mere $28 ($23> if you get it from Costco, where you also get a 57g travel tube along with it) is an absolute steal. One of my dermatologists also suggested it for sensitive skin.
Duration: This tub lasted over a year (1 year 3 months) with generous use.
Cons: The only con I noticed was that the texture can be too thick causing it to just sit on top of your skin instead of being fully absorbed, or be too thick to spread on top of some serums (snail mucin, benzoyl peroxide, alpha arbutin) causing it to ball up or peel. For that reason, I am thinking of trying thinner creams from Cerave (such as the lotion or the night/day face creams) but I always intend on having one of these in my skincare drawer.

beauty on a budget for someone new to the lifestyle?
since you’re only starting out, you’ll probably want to focus on affordable products and diy and at home beauty treatments.
you can get affordable skin care products from brands like cerave, cetaphil, and the ordinary. you’ll find all your essential cleansers, serums, exfoliators and moisturizers. you can order facial sheet masks in bulk cheap from amazon. you can also use aztec secret healing clay as a clay masque. skip the guasha altogether and follow a youtube tutorial for face sculpting massages instead.
good quality affordable makeup brands I used when I was nearly broke included e.l.f., nyx, wet n’ wild, maybelline, and makeup revolution. look into some other drug store brands within your budget and check reviews before you buy anything so you don’t waste your money. get generic beauty blenders and powder puffs, you’ll be replacing them often anyway so it’s best to get them cheap. you can buy cheap big makeup brush sets on amazon that’ll last a long time if you clean them regularly and take care of them.
press on nails and home manicures / pedicures will save you a ton of money and time. find a good manicure kit and pumice stone. buy a dollar store basin and some epsom salts to soak your feet. for press on nails I usually get mine from temu or brands like kiss and impress. if you just want to paint your natural nails, get a gel polish like l.a. colors color craze gel or sally hansen miracle gel. if you want to go the extra mile, invest in the supplies and learn how to do your own acrylics or gel manicures.
learn how to wax, shape, and tint your own eyebrows. you can buy an affordable diy wax kit like this one and use youtube tutorials on how to find the most flattering brow shape. (as a bonus, the hard waxing kit can also be used to remove unwanted hair on the rest of your body.) you can also find cheap brow tinting kits that usually last up to five uses at sally’s beauty supply and various other stores online.
if you want your lashes done, you can either get really, really good at applying a strip lash – my go to affordable brands are ardell and kiss – or you can invest in some bulk lash clusters and the falscara diy eyelash extension kit. figure out what lash placement will best compliment your features, then watch lots and lots of youtube tutorials on how to use it and practice, practice, practice. they take some getting used to.
when it comes to hair care, the very first thing you want to do is figure out your hair type with a quiz like this one and find what it needs to look and feel healthy. I have 2A hair, so I would pretty much always spring for nexxus for something moisturizing and lightweight, but I’ve heard great things about ogx, shea moisture, not your mother’s, maui moisture, l’oreal elvive, and garnier whole blends which are great for other hair types, densities, and textures. all these brands carry a wide variety of products from shampoo, to leave in treatments, to hair masques, to curl cream — you get it. again, read reviews. you can also use a cotton t-shirt to dry and plop your hair instead of spending money on a microfiber towel, and a satin scarf wrapped around your head to protect your hair while sleeping instead of a silk bonnet and pillow case.
if you’re into styling your hair, two of my favorite methods are heatless styling and blowouts. for heatless styling, you may not even need to purchase any new styling tools. I started out using this heatless robe curl method and eventually started doing other heatless styling methods like the ones on this playlist once I started buying more tools, and did styles like these when I didn’t feel like setting my hair at all. for styles that require heat, a highly suggest investing in a dyson airwrap – which can do pretty much everything – so you don’t end up spending even more on an arsenal of hot styling tools.
good luck, sugar
xoxo

REVIEW
CeraVe moisturizing cream
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As most of the people on my last two pole voted for skincare review as well as CeraVe so I decided to combine those both pole nd make a review on our favourite brand CeraVe.
I was basically in love with the Nivea Moisturizer nd was using it for almost 3.5 yrs. And then suddenly idk what happened but CeraVe was actually and is trending nowadays so I bought one (same as shown in the picture).
I used it for a month, I felt smthng different. I noticed that bcuz of this moisturizer, my face sweats alot (which never happened before).
I thought that this moisturizer isn't good but then I researched about it on Google nd I found out that many people felt the same nd gave same review and then I researched about why does this CeraVe moisturizer makes our face sweat? Then I found the actual reason. The reason behind it was actually to make our skin feel hydrated. Bcuz of the sweat (not sure) out skin won't feel dry??? :/ ok so this was the reason that I found on Google.
Now let's come to the main topic
It's texture:-
For me, the texture was thick. It is indeed a good moisturizer but the only thing I hate about this moisturizer is it's thickness and the way it causes the skin to sweat so badly.😭
(The Nivea never made my skin sweat nd it was smooth nd lightweight as well.)
The result:-
Well, it didn't caused any irritation or anything harm to my skin. But still I would like to go back to my Nivea Moisturizer LOL. Or maybe I should try the Cetaphil one as I see many PPL nd dermatologist using as well as suggesting it (ig I will give it a try after I finish this CeraVe)
Btw it's been more than 3 months ig of me using CeraVe moisturizing cream.
It's worth giving a try but I wouldn't suggest you to buy if you hate thick texture cream (It's not light-weight cream) as well as it will make your skin sweat so bad🥲

Well now I gotta ask. what DO you use for your skin
ok so i am about to become insane. here is my Current routine after. too long of wading through skinfluencer bullshit. all drugstore brands because one who has the money and two no one needs the expensive shit. and no retinol im fucking 18
i have combination, acne prone skin and excoriation disorder and my goals are to get my dryness and acne under control so im not always walking around with blood under my fingernails etc etc. overall the active ingredients that have been the most helpful are salicylic and hyaluronic acid. the actual info is under the cut because theres Too much
i use the cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser (water based for classification reasons, it just has oil in it) in the morning. i used to use the cerave normal foaming cleanser but i switched pretty quick because it doesnt dry me out as much
at night i use the neutrogena hydro boost exfoliating cleanser. pretty solid, nothing to complain about and i like the smell but i likely won't repurchase now that i have non-physical exfoliants in my routine because physical ones can lead to irritation
the clearasil stubborn acne control 5 in 1 pads with salicylic acid have been crazy helpful for generally keeping my acne under control. i still have tiny blackheads but thats not something i really give a shit about so no complaints here really
the elf pure skin toner, my newest addition a few days ago, has really exceeded my expectations like i mentioned in the og post. it's marketed as a soothing, hydrating toner but it does have glycolic acid which isnt mentioned which means some people dont end up liking it. i read reviews before buying shit though so im having an awesome time with it, i had two Awful pimples and various active breakouts before starting using it and currently a whole third of my face has No active breakouts which is Insane for me
the new cerave moisturizing gel has been really nice, does its job and the niacinamide has done good work on reducing the appearance of my pores in the relatively short time ive been using it
i use the cetaphil moisturizing cream for dry skin on my cheeks bc theyre dry And in spots over any places ive picked at badly to give it the best chance it can get at healing
ok thats it. hope anyone who stayed this long enjoyed. if anyone ever wants advice dm meeeee im obv not a pro but i have a hyperfixation and nothing but free time

The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin
My preferred moisturizer for wintertime. It can get a bit greasy, especially in the summer and early fall, but the texture is immaculate when it's cold out. Perfect for those cold winter days when the skin around your nose gets all dried up and peels off your face.
7/10 for year-round use, 9.5/10 for winter and early-spring use.
Tumblr media
A lot of people really love this sunblock. I get why, especially given how awful and ineffective American-made facial sunscreens tend to be. That would normally make me provide a more forgiving review, but in this case, I just... Can't.
It pills really badly on the skin, especially if you're wearing it on top of moisturizer. I don't fully understand the purpose of a sunscreen that can't sit quietly on top of moisturizer, but that's just a personal preference, and to be fair, I may use a smidge too much moisturizer during the winter months anyway. This might be a human usage error.
The big problem I have is that this sunscreen smells really bad in a chemical kind of way, almost like rubbing alcohol. It makes my eyes sting. As far as I can tell, it doesn't block out any sun, if the new freckles on my nose are any indication. Which begs the question: What is this even for? Am I seriously the only person who can't get behind this product?
It doesn't create a white cast, which I suppose is about all any of us can expect, but all the same, I don't like it. I would suggest the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen over this any day.

Once upon a time, in a quaint little village, there lived a young woman named Lily. She had always struggled with dry skin, which made her feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. No matter what she tried, her skin remained parched, lacking the hydration it desperately needed.
One day, while wandering through the village marketplace, Lily stumbled upon a small apothecary tucked away in a corner. Intrigued, she stepped inside, hoping to find a solution to her skin woes. The apothecary was filled with an array of potions and creams, each promising to deliver a different skincare benefit.
As she browsed through the shelves, her eyes fell upon a jar labelled "Miracle Moisture: Best Body and Face Moisturizer for Dry Skin." Intrigued by its bold claim, Lily couldn't resist giving it a try. She purchased the jar and hurried back home, her heart filled with hope.
That night, after cleansing her face and body, Lily opened the jar and scooped out a dollop of the silky cream. As she gently applied it to her skin, she was amazed by its luxurious texture. It glided on effortlessly, enveloping her in a soothing embrace. Instantly, she felt a surge of moisture and relief, as if her skin was finally being quenched after a long drought.
As days turned into weeks, Lily faithfully used the miracle moisturiser, morning and night. She marvelled at the transformation taking place. Her skin, once dull and lacklustre, started to glow with vitality. The dry patches that had plagued her for years gradually faded away, replaced by soft and supple skin.
Not only did the moisturiser hydrate her skin, but it also acted as a shield, protecting it from harsh environmental elements. Lily noticed that her skin felt smoother, more resilient, and better equipped to withstand the challenges of everyday life.
Word of Lily's radiant skin spread throughout the village, and soon, her friends and neighbours started seeking her advice. They too longed for the magic of the miracle moisturiser to work wonders on their own dry skin.
Driven by her desire to help others, Lily organized a skincare workshop in the village square. She shared her story and introduced the best body and face moisturiser to her community. Together, they learned about the importance of hydration, the significance of a healthy skin barrier, and the transformative power of the right moisturizer.
With each passing day, more villagers experienced the remarkable benefits of the miracle moisturizer. Dry skin became a thing of the past, replaced by a newfound confidence and comfort. Lily's humble apothecary became a bustling hub of skincare enthusiasts, all united by their quest for hydrated and radiant skin.
The story of the best body and face moisturiser for dry skin spread far and wide, reaching neighbouring villages and beyond. People from all walks of life sought out the miraculous cream, eager to experience its transformative effects.
And so, the legend of Lily's radiant skin and the miracle moisturiser continued to grow, reminding everyone that the key to hydrated and healthy skin lies in finding the right moisturizer, one that truly nourishes and revitalises, making dry skin a distant memory.
From that day forward, Lily and her magical moisturiser became a symbol of hope and inspiration for all those seeking to overcome the challenges of dry skin and embrace the joy of a well-moisturised complexion.

Peach & Lily Ginger Melt Oil Cleanser - Review
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've only ever used 3 cleansing oils, out which I repurchased the first 2 a lot because I didn't think about how much better an oil cleanser could get. The FaceShop Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil was the first cleansing oil I ever tried in 2018. I kept repurchasing it because at least it did the job. It was until I tried The INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm that I realised how good cleansing oils/balms could be and how terrible The FaceShop really was.
The Oat Cleansing Balm was not without its own faults though, with the packaging and the product melting in the heat of a regular bathroom, but it was miles ahead of The FaceShop. I wanted to expand my horizons and start exploring other cleansing oils and had my eyes on trying this out. I am happy to report that my journey with cleansing oils has exponentially improved with each new brand.
Purchase: This was one of the 3 products I purchased on my trip to Columbus, OH in July 2023. The Byoma Moisturizing Gel Cream (Reviewed) and Peach & Lily Glass Skin (Reviewed) were the other 2 products. I had heard good things about this product on TikTok and decided to grab it while traveling as it isn't available in Canada as yet.
First Impressions: There is no fragrance (thank goodness) and the pump is super satisfying to push. The liquid is just like any other cleansing oil, albeit very slightly thicker I found. The bottle is very slim and sturdy and easy to travel with.
Usage: I used this strictly to remove makeup and sunscreen. I would use this on a dry face after using Micellar Water to remove any oil-soluble makeup on my face that Micellar water didn't work on. I would follow it up with the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (Reviewed) to wash it off after. I would follow that up with whichever toner, serum and moisturizer I was using at that time. I opened the pictured bottle in July/Aug 2023 and finished Jan 17, 2024. So 150ml of product lasted me 6 months.
Thoughts: This is the best of the 3 cleansing oils I've tried. It's so smooth on the skin and removes all makeup, leaving the skin feeling clean. I was keen on repurchasing it off its website, thinking maybe I'd buy 2-3 bottles to combat the shipping fee, only to realise international shipping is non-conditional to the order total and is hefty.
Final: I loved this cleansing oil and would 100% recommend if you can get your hands on it. It's on the pricier side of cleansing oil but totally worth it.
