Ceramic Coating & Car Waxing in Manukau: Is It Worth the Investment?
If you love your car, keeping it looking sleek and shiny is probably a top priority. But with Manukau’s unpredictable weather, road dust, and UV exposure, maintaining that showroom finish can be challenging. This is where ceramic coating and waxing come into play. But which option is best for your car, and more importantly—is it worth the investment? Let’s break it down.
Tumblr media
What is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to a car’s exterior that chemically bonds with the paint, creating a protective layer. Unlike traditional wax, which sits on the surface, ceramic coating forms a semi-permanent bond with your car’s paint, offering superior protection.
Benefits of Ceramic Coating
✅ Long-lasting Protection – Unlike wax, which lasts a few months, ceramic coatings can protect your car for 2-5 years.
✅ UV & Oxidation Resistance – Manukau’s sun can cause paint to fade over time. A ceramic coating acts like sunscreen for your car, preventing oxidation and dullness.
✅ Hydrophobic Properties – Water and dirt slide off easily, making cleaning effortless.
✅ Scratch & Chemical Resistance – While not bulletproof, ceramic coatings add a layer of defense against minor scratches and harsh chemicals.
✅ Enhanced Shine & Gloss – It gives your car a deep, mirror-like finish that stays intact for years.
Downsides of Ceramic Coating
❌ Higher Cost – A professional ceramic coating job in Manukau can cost anywhere from $500 to $2,500, depending on the service provider and package.
❌ Time-Consuming Application – The process can take a full day or more, as proper paint correction is needed before application.
❌ Not Scratch-Proof – It protects against minor swirls and contaminants but won’t prevent deep scratches from accidents.
What is Waxing?
Waxing involves applying a protective wax layer over your car’s paint to add shine and protection. Unlike ceramic coating, wax does not bond with the paint but instead forms a temporary shield.
Benefits of Waxing
✅ Affordable – Waxing services in Manukau range from $50 to $200, making it budget-friendly.
✅ Easy to Apply – Unlike ceramic coating, waxing doesn’t require professional expertise and can be done at home.
✅ Decent Gloss & Shine – A good-quality wax enhances your car’s appearance, though not as much as ceramic coating.
✅ Short-Term Protection – Wax provides a temporary barrier against UV rays, dirt, and water.
Downsides of Waxing
❌ Short Lifespan – Wax lasts 4 to 8 weeks, meaning you’ll need frequent reapplications.
❌ Limited Protection – It doesn’t offer strong protection against scratches, harsh chemicals, or oxidation.
❌ Requires Regular Maintenance – Unlike ceramic coatings that last for years, waxing needs to be reapplied frequently.
Ceramic Coating vs. Waxing: Which One is Right for You?
Tumblr media
Go for Ceramic Coating if...
✔️ You want long-term protection and are willing to invest in your car’s appearance. ✔️ You prefer low-maintenance car care and less frequent washing. ✔️ You want a high-gloss finish that lasts for years.
Choose Waxing if...
✔️ You are on a budget but still want some level of protection. ✔️ You don’t mind frequent maintenance and reapplications. ✔️ You want a temporary shine boost for special occasions.
Where to Get Ceramic Coating & Waxing in Manukau
Manukau has several great car detailing services that offer professional ceramic coating and waxing. Here are a few options:
Elite Car Detailing – Specializes in ceramic coating and premium waxing.
Manukau Auto Spa – Offers affordable car wash and waxing services.
Shine Pro Detailing – Known for high-quality ceramic coating and paint protection.
When choosing a service, always check customer reviews, ask about warranties, and compare pricing to ensure you get the best value for your investment.
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
If you plan to keep your car for several years and want to minimize maintenance, ceramic coating is definitely worth it. It saves time and money in the long run while keeping your car looking brand new. However, if you’re just looking for an occasional shine boost without breaking the bank, waxing is a budget-friendly alternative.
Whatever option you choose, keeping your car clean and well-maintained will help retain its value and give you that satisfaction of driving a spotless ride. 🚗✨

Trying another style of mugs! I got a new stamp set that is a lot cleaner than the old one and I like the big letter/small letter contrast. I also got dozens of crow silkscreen stencils and am pretty pleased with the details.

Kintsugi
For my first poetry entry here, I wanted to share one poem I recently (and accidentally) made into something more hopeful-romantic than what I had initially planned which was a love-lorn broken piece of ceramic.
How lucky it is to be loved into a whole new piece again.

Delicately covered my flesh and soul your fingerprints silver and gold meld broken pieces into whole, held together left and right, nothing unloved  in plain sight

I entered this little planter into a juried show, fingers crossed it's accepted, but my escapism art may be a bit too whimsical for the serious gallery art world 😅 wouldn't hurt my feelings if it didn't, it just helped me get out of my head for awhile.
I'm not sure if this still counts as inlay because of the way I finished it, but it was drawn by carving channels for the glazes to keep the likework tight. I have just been using stroke and coat lately because it's dependable and fun to use.
Want to play more with illustrations on pots, but I have had the worst art block. May try to do some cheap digital commissions or requests to get my gears unstuck.

"one day, i cut him an apple. when he saw it, he laughed" (click for better resolution!) ,,, tag from @elliotly
#ambrose wellington bassford#vincent aurelius lin#adamandi#whkjfhgdg i feel a tad audacious directly tagging a creator. but the tags left under the last bea post... i have a lot of thoughts#here is the brainrot very specific to the musical and the cut fruit thing uM here you go <posts. disappears.>#the quotes are all taken directly from the yt captions!! there are so many parallels here let me just. vaguely analyse everything#labelled like a sci diagram of sorts because vincent (and i have a soft spot for science/visual art kids like me)#also dark academia so fig. 1 and footnotes and the slight yellowing paper texture#i guess i'll tackle the symbols then the quotes? for the poses i looked btwn the two vincent monologues/interactions w ambrose!#<i've tried to draw the actors as best as i could. but i suppose the characters being recognisable is enough??? hhh>#this is of course about the apple cutting so the apple unravels in the bg: the smooth skin of the apple on ambrose's half in painted blende#and the rougher charcoal peeled apple on vincent's side. because different art styles and textures favoured parallel the apple so bad#footnote 2: artistic sensibilities differ referring to the art styles and also preferences. but also visually the apple skin tears - broken#footnote 1: more about texture; ambrose and ceramics and perfection.. waxy apple skin without any imperfections#apollo bust is also there! can i also say the lyric''contrapposto confidence'' made me laugh a bit too hard. art student inside joke i gues#footnote 3: about the biological drawings from dissections. but also the flesh of the apple and dissections. and how i hc? vincent would#similarly dissect his relationship with ambrose to process.. i mean he does keep writing stuff about people..#fig.1: direct reference to scene // it's looking like a speech bubble but if you see it as diagrammatic then it also points to the markings#on his face. the organic imperfections is what i am saying#fig. 2: technically also about the apple (all the main black boxes are apple quotes) but also linked to the chisel ambrose is holding..#like.. don't enjoy flesh and skin? turn into?? marble?? :OOO. sdafgfjhkl // fig. 3: technically also the apple. but also vincent @ skask#also visual parallels: ambrose holding chisel!! vincent holding scalpel!! classics and bio... alright i will stop here ksdjf#it is also worth to bring up perhaps that in asian households such as mine there's the whole cutting fruit as intimacy and love#(oh and in true me fashion to make a bad pun.. fruity behaviour...possibly...)#like it's such an obvious symbol i know someone who is directly referencing it for their school artwork yknow? so like as a sneaky represen#that part really got me. went a little bonkers (screamed silently in the train when i first saw it.) even before any Implications set in#then the whole asking their mother and she telling him ''it's cleaner'' then ''why would i feed you something bitter?'' my parents at me fr#hjadsfgshj ok enough enough thank you for reading to the bottom and partaking in my nonsense. mortifying ordeal of being known.

Matthias Helvar handmade mug! "My ghost won't associate with your ghost". Really loving how the blue turned out inside the mug and the feathers on the back. I thought about putting five crows on on wire and a lone one on the other side, but I'm still mad at Netflix for canceling the series and leaving Matthias in prison. So no - he gets to hang out with Nina.
I'm still working on perfecting the glazing and the lettering. I think I'm getting the feathering because I'm stamping the letters in clay that's too dry. So next time I'll try wetter, more malleable clay that will hopefully not have all the micro-crevices.
