Townieville!

A little project that was supposed to be just for fun, but felt so cool I decided to give it a little more character, make it CC-free and share it.

I adore the original townies of the base game. At some point I noticed that some of the adults share similarities with teens and kids - so I figured out how to merge them into whole families, based on their shared face templates, genetics and/or last names. Sadly, some last names were lost in the process, so I kept a few of them alive in street names.

And there are two things that annoy me about this town. First, FIVE (5) Sims use the 7th face template (Marylena, Melissa, teen Ivy, Orlando and Chandler). Second, the names Ivy and Orlando are doubled. But well, they're townies originally!

There are 12 families, that's quite a lot for a starting neighborhood, but many of them are single Sims (often single parents), so they have the potential to merge.

The families:

Bendett-LeTourneau Marisa Bendett and her daughters Sophie and Meadow, Brandi LeTourneau and her kids Alvin and Chloe.

GilsCarbo Goopy GilsCarbo is married to Marylena Hamilton (now GilsCarbo) and they have a teenage daughter named Ivy.

Cox Kennedy, Melissa and their two sons: Orlando and Chandler. They own a dog named Otis. Chandler is not Kennedy's biological son, see Melissa's memories for details.

Copur Ivy Copur and her roommate Abhijeet Deppiesse.

Tellerman Jan living alone, next door to her brother Komei.

Tellerman Komei, Christy and their daughter Brittany. There's a new baby on the way!

Centowski Orlando and Ricky living alone as teenagers after both their parents passed away.

Sims Benjamin Cox (Kennedy's brother), his fiancé Amin Sims, and their cat Heidi.

Other population notes: Anything other than the Pleasantview game folder has been cleared out of character files, so there are no vanilla pets, social groups, garden club members etc. All service Sims are Maxis because they belong in the Pleasantview folder. The only typically Maxis pets are Otis and Heidi that are replicas of the original adoption pool pets made in CAS. Other than that, if you call the adoption center, the game will spawn brand new strays and pets to adopt (NoStrayRespawn will prevent it). So don't panic if your game freezes for a few seconds! The only dog that already exists is a beta wolf named Bob. The alpha wolf is also to be generated and his name will probably be Balin. Since the townies are now playables, I made a few townie children, teens and adults. They are CAS Bin Sims. There's also the founder Sim that I needed as the first playable to spawn all the townies on the lot (his name is Deighton Freeman) and Nerissa Bee who's supposed to be the clothing store owner. This neighborhood has no subhoods. Feel free to add them if needed.

Genetics I fixed all "dyed hair" genetics, so e.g. Brandi LeTourneau now has brown hair genetically. I also gave everyone recessive genes, so they're not homozygous.

Townieville landscape: Made on the Sedona map but in lush, the town gives (as one of my viewers pointed out) the Blue Ridge Mountains vibe! So it could be located in North Carolina or Virginia.

All the houses are Maxis, just furnished by me. Some of them have been reconstructed on the inside so the families have enough space. Four families live in an apartment building that I built from scratch.

There are many needed community lots: a town pool, a clothing store, a convenience store, a game arcade, a tiny bistro, a park, a graveyard. Some of them are built by me and some are Maxis lots from the bin (often edited by me). There's also a lake beach on the hill, close to the Sims family.

The town revolves around a big hospital building where Brandi and Marisa work as doctors.

VERSION 2!!! Townieville's download has been updated. I edited some Sims' age* and gave them fewer skills (looked more closely into all Sims in that matter). Also the Hogan family didn't have a phone and a working kitchen counter because duhh. If you haven't started playing yet before 30 Sep 2024, I recommend redownloading! Actually, 17 October is the PROPER download. On 30 Sep I uploaded my already played neighborhood due to confusing folders 😅

*at first, I managed their age according to my custom lifespan, but then decided to go all Maxis, especially that it looked as if some Sims weren't aging (they were, but the age display didn't show any progress because it can only go so far as 29 days away).

mad about dodo: the bachelor no one asked for... challenge 🌴🩷🌞

i know this is - probably - a mistake. but i can't help myself 😶 after watching dodo fail three attempts in bachelor/bachelorette challenges; deeply inspired by nafisa's bc (@flocy-sims); and somewhat persuaded that dodo needed his time to shine, am i right, @ethicaltreatmentofcowplants 😉? i decided to give dodo a bachelor challenge of his own.

who is dodo?

dodo, short for orlando harper, is a 7th generation spare. twin brother of the one and only, leonardo harper, and son of virginia harper and paolo rocca.

dodo is a sports enthusiast, being himself a one-star famous athlete. despite not having the ambitious and selfish nature of his twin brother and superstar actor, leo harper; orlando can be a somewhat attention seeker as well.

there’s nothing he loves more than to spend time at the gym or the football field. he’s not the romantic type... IN FACT, he performed many mean behaviours with all the bachelor and bachelorettes he interacted with 🙄 so i wonder, is there someone out there who could sweep dodo off his feet? that's what we'll find out, right?

important notes

the bachelor challenge will take place on sulani and will follow the island challenge's rules (with some adaptations here and there).

the bachelor and contestants will live off-the-grid and with just very basic survival items. they can’t leave the island (lot) and they are cut off from civilization completely.

first impressions + wicked whims will be in effect (but no adult content will ever be published). we'll be having rose cerimonies, solo dates, group dates and free days schedules. until we have only 7 sims left in the challenge, 3 sims will leave by round. also, leo harper is gonna try to steal the show once in a while 😄

Soulmate AU - Horror

Dream made the biggest mistake by inviting you for real-life manhunt. You weren’t just ready, you were prepared. The past months had been spent training, even though you hated the early morning runs

But you just knew you had to win.

The bastard beat you enough in Minecraft. Real-life is where you’d exact your revenge, hit him right where it hurts.

His ego. Obviously. Nowhere else.

To save money, you had driven down to Orlando just for his video. You spent enough money buying cool clothes so you could match your Minecraft character, you didn’t need to spend more.

“Ready for this?” Sapnap asks, squinting in the mirror as he attempts to tie on his bandana. Key word: attempts. After a few tries, he gives up and stuffs it in his pocket.

“I was born ready to kick Dream’s ass.” You grin, relaxed against the couch. Unlike him, you’re already fully dressed.

Sapnap flexes a bicep, laughing at you in the mirror. “Me too. Take him down!”

Your eyes drift to the tattoo on the back of his shoulder. A black outline of a flame, small and seemingly insignificant. But you and the entire world knows better.

It’s his soulmate tattoo. Someone else, somewhere else, has that exact tattoo in that exact place. And that person is quite literally made for him in the same way Sapnap is made for them.

Everyone has a soulmate tattoo. Something unique in a completely random place on their body that matches one other person. There are a few rare cases with multiple matches, but it’s rare enough to find one soulmate. Finding any others you might have is damn near impossible.

You haven’t found yours yet. You might never will, knowing your luck.

Your tattoo is simple, and relatively hidden. A small sun, just below your knee. Cute and tiny; you love it. And you love knowing that there’s someone else with it.

“Are we actually going to run through the woods to catch him?” George asks, wandering in. Although you and Sapnap committed, he didn’t, and chose to instead go for normal clothes.

“And we’re going to win.” You add. “Don’t forget that part. I’m tackling that motherfucker.”

Sapnap throws his arm around George’s shoulder, shaking him violently. “LET’S GO!”

You should’ve said no when Dream asked you to do this.

You’re hot, and sweaty, and tired, and sore. Everything hurts. But, on the plus side, that means Dream has to be too.

Trampling through some trees, you can’t help but think of what George is doing. Probably casually walking along, enjoying this video. You’ll steal his chips later in retribution.

“Fuck Dream. Fuck Sapnap. Fuck George.” You huff, shifting the camera attached to your chest. “Fuck the fans. No, wait, I take that back. Love you fans.”

“Are you… okay?” Someone asks.

You shriek, jumping back and brandishing a stick as your weapon. If there’s a murderer out here, you’re going to haunt Dream’s ass, best friends or not.

The person cackles, and you whip your head around to stare at Dream. Dream, who has that stupid mask hanging by his side. Dream, who is dressed in the most horrendous green you’ll ever see.

“I hate your stupid video!” You declare. He grins back at you, and it’s only then that you realize what a sorry sight he is.

There’s dirt smeared over his T-shirt, and his pants are ripped. He must’ve tripped or gotten caught somewhere. If Sapnap or George got him, they would’ve said something on the radio.

Your gaze darts down, at the red heart charms hanging from a belt loop. If you take those, you win.

And you’re going to win.

“It’s hot, isn’t it—“ Dream starts, but you’re already tackling him.

“Give me the hearts!” You yell. “Hand them over! You lose, green asshole!”

“Woah, woah! Wait! We can talk this out!” He pushes at your shoulders, one hand covering the charms.

“No the fuck we can’t! It’s hot, Dream! You put me through this!”

You grab his wrist, trying to pry his fingers away from the charms, but to no avail. He’s not going to give them up, the bastard.

Somehow, he manages to scramble away from you, pushing himself up and on his feet before stumbling back. You’re left on the ground, reaching dramatically out for him.

“Did— did you train for this?” Dream asks in disbelief, stopping a few feet away.

You groan as a stick stabs into your elbow. “Maybe.”

He laughs, stepping forward and holding a hand out to you. “This was a really bad idea.”

“I know.” You sigh, then reach up and take his hand. “Can we scrap it and get a pizza or something?”

Whatever he says next is lost to you.

Because you look up at him, only for your eyes to get caught on the rip in his pants. The rip that’s just under his knee, wide enough for you to see skin.

The rip that reveals a small sun tattoo right under his knee, identical to yours.

“Are you getting up?” He asks, sounding amused.

All you can do is stare in absolute horror at the tattoo.

The man who put you through this torture, who forced you to endure the Florida heat for multiple hours outside. That man is your fucking soulmate.

The man who also happens to be your best friend, and someone you love no matter what he puts you through.

You use his hand as leverage to get on your feet, but don’t let go yet. Instead, you pull him closer for a hug.

“I haven’t said we’re scrapping it yet.” Dream points out, but wraps his arms around your waist anyway.

You’ll ask him about it later. You swear.

“But you will.” You murmur, reluctantly letting go. “So let’s get out of here.”

Dream, your soulmate.

Right now is too… busy to tell him. You’re in the middle of a recording, and in the woods. It’ll be better if you wait, give yourself some time to think about it.

the first half of the 1940s was, of course, dominated by world war two. just as with world war one, more women were involved in the war effort, and those who weren't often took the jobs dominated by men. icons such as rosie the riveter propagated a sort of idealized "tough girl" image, with her denim coveralls and clenched fists – yet red lips, defined lashes, and thin brows. she was just masculine enough to fit the mold of serving one's country, and still feminine enough for the general public to accept. once again, fabric rationing led to certain garments and styles being reused and revamped. some designers, like claire mccardell, worked within the confines of wool and silk rationing to create clothing made of denim and jersey knits. "ready-to-wear" clothing was becoming more popular, especially in the united states, allowing fashion trends to spread faster and further than before. at the end of the decade, christian dior debuted his "new look", which would set the stage for the iconic mid-century silhouette: cinched waists (thanks a lot, dior...), full skirts, and round shoulders. this "new look" emphasized the stereotypical ideal of femininity and ruled post-war fashion.
