Knowing after this, after he puts on that new uniform, he is stepping foot into a dream he knows the boy is going to regret. He knows that there is no glory in being a First Class anymore—that the title is weightless, hollow, and that is how Zack is going to feel upon being promoted. He knows the innocence is now gone; he knows Zack is now reaching a new chapter that’s only gonna result in more death, more trauma.

He knows that, as First Class himself, never given the choice, Zack’s gonna wish he never was one.
