the vibration of your phone on your bedside table causes you to halt your nightly routine, sitting cross-legged on your cozy hotel bed. art was currently paying for you to live there while you found an apartment closer to him in the city. speaking of art, his contact picture flashed on your phone screen, causing you to smile as you pick up. "i can't sleep" art cuts right to the chase, not beating around the bush. "aw why?" you feign ignorance when you respond, you know exactly why, only about an hour before you'd sent art a selfie in nothing but the hotel-provided robe, a payment of sorts for letting you stay in the lavish hotel. "you know why baby.."

holy shit/is it that sweet? i guess so

you can't stop the giggle that escapes your mouth. "you're sweet art.. i only wanted to show you how comfy the robe was!" you lie through your teeth, when art is needy and missing you is when you like him best. "cmon baby you were practically naked.. you know what you do to me.." he almost whines into the phone, you can hear him shifting through the speaker. "what do i do to you?" you can imagine the look on arts face now, as he shifts uncomfortably in the plush chair in the corner of his room, running his fingers through his cropped blond hair.

most of the time when art calls or contacts you it's at night, you both have busy schedules (his being a little more flexible now that he's retired) and since art is in the midst of a messy divorce, it's better for both of you if you don't live together currently. and maybe it's easier for art to save face a little bit and not drool all over you if he can't see you all the time. as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and art is extremely fond of you. obsessed is a strong word, but it does remind you of arts attitude towards you, it's not an exaggeration to say that he would absolutely jump off a bridge for you.

art chuckles, an attractive sound that echoes through the speaker. "what do you do to me? baby you make me crazy.. you know i would give a whole lot to be with you right now, yeah?" you sigh, imagining what you would do if he was there with you. "yeah i know.. just wish you could teleport over here with me" art wishes the same, but he can't come and see you now, tomorrow he has to take care of his daughter and whenever he comes over you two always end up sleeping in till noon.

you only knew part of the situation with his ex, tashi, you think her name was. art, by nature is a private person, preferring to keep his personal life personal. he only came clean to you about their tumultuous relationship and the subsequent fallout when he felt that he trusted you enough. simply put, when art decided to retire from tennis, he decided to get a divorce from tashi because he knew she would only come to hate him, and maybe he had come to hate her too. when he met you, you're everything tashi wasn't. caring, nurturing, supportive, loving. it only motivated art to move forward with the divorce, even if it meant that the life he used to live was over. but it wasn't all bad for art.. he finally had a girlfriend that would be there for him no matter what (and put up with his clingyness).

arts sweet voice brings you back to reality. "did you get that gift i got you?" you remember the sweet gesture with a smile on your face, a couple days ago art had gotten you a basket full of self care products. face masks, body wash, moisturizers and lotions, all in your favorite scents. the note card attached said "take care of yourself for me. -thinking of you always, art <3" you swooned at the personalized details. "yes i did art.. thank you.. ive been using the lotion you gave me and i feel so soft.." you truly don't realize how much art is affected by your words. but you can tell he's smiling through the phone "is that right? im glad you like them.. i have to admit that i had to hold back from stealing a couple things, all that stuff reminds me of you and it really does it for me"

that morning coffee, brewed it for ya/one touch and i brand-newed it for ya

"you know you should really go to sleep art, it's late" you say, trying to test him and see if he'll stop talking to you for just that simple reason. "i know, but like i said, i can't sleep, and i didn't even have any coffee today" he reminds you, making you recall his old addiction to caffeine, one that he still has to fight to this day, but it's easier now that he isn't working so much. "you should just stay on the phone then" you suggest slyly, "i mean if i can't go to sleep touching you i at least want to go to sleep talking to you" you add. arts heart melts, no one had ever expressed interest in him like you do.

now hes thinkin' 'bout me, every night, oh/is it that sweet? i guess so

art agrees to your proposal quickly, both of you settling into your beds for the night as you set your phones next to you. "when can i come see you again?" art asks breathlessly, and he really does feel breathless when he isn't around you, searching for the fresh air that only you can provide him. "in two days, okay? it won't feel too long i promise" you reply, knowing he'll be disappointed, but also knowing the two of you still lead seperate lives. "alright, and we'll do something special together okay? ill try to pull some strings and get us a reservation at that restaurant you love" art, always the eager one, is already planning out the day to the minute detail. you sigh dreamily "that sounds perfect art.. you're too good to me" and it's true, he really does spoil you to his hearts content. "no way, you're so sweet im only giving you what you deserve" he replies quickly, blanketing you in flattery like usual. a few more minutes go by of back and forth compliments before you yawn, art taking notice. "you tired? go to sleep princess. ill be here, i mean- not really there but- you know what i mean" art always stutters over his words when he tries to be suave, a cute habit you hope he never quits. you giggle softly "alright alright.." you let your head sink into the fluffy feather pillow beneath you. "i love you art" the words leave your lips more naturally than anything you've ever said. "i love you more" art replies. well, you can't argue with that <3

Well, let me tell you, we all have this love-hate relationship with this subject, right? The worst part is that when you don't know what the heck is going on, so, as a girl who studied maths (2 Volumes/textbooks) on her own during the year she was homeschooled, here are some tips and tricks that I did to get an A+ in my math finals!

Get your syllabus together

In the beginning I had no damn idea what was going on and it was just confusing. I had to do the first thing I did was taken my index/table of contents and mark the chapters which i knew very well and the ones I had no clue about. And then i arranged them with the marking scheme, like which one carries the most marks etc etc and study accordingly.

Complete lessons/chapters that you already know

When you finish off the things you already know then that's gonna give you the confidence you need even if you know only 1-2 chapters, learn it throughout and make sure that you'll get the answer no matter how twisted the sum is. If you're doubtful about the whole textbook like any normal person.... Start with the easy ones. (I know there are literally really no "easy" chapters, spare me)

Harder chapters need hard work

Most chapters like Trigonometry proofs, Geometry proofs, Algebra, Graphs, Mensuration and Calculus etc need more than minimum effort but here's a trick, what is the common thing in this? Yes, they're all formulae and theorem based which goes to my next point. These chapters are completely based on how much you've understood your basics.

Formulae and theorem cheatsheets

Make a list of all formulae and the theorem used in the book, write them chapter wise and no printouts or digital notes. Take a paper and write it down, no excuses. It helps you while you're practicing, revising and in the last minute review, it helped me damn much. Remember, maths is a sport. The basic formulae must come to you like reflexes.

YouTube is your best friend.

For every single chapter, go and watch the basics and how a sum is done step by step. A recommendation for this is Organic Chemistry Tutor who literally is one of the reasons i passed. He has videos from basic geometry, trigonometry, statistics to calculus. Search for your own YouTubers and be clear with concepts.

Math is fully memorization

Memorize formulae and theorems with the back of your hand, you should be able to recall them within seconds. Be thorough.

Memorize basic math values (if calculator isn't allowed)

Do this if you have a majority of chapters like Statistics, Mensuration, Profit/loss calculation etc, where large numbers are concerned. Memorize the first 10 square, cube, decimal and multiplication values. It may be dry but there are literally songs available for these things, I'm serious, i learnt the first 10 cube roots by listening to Senorita xD Search for rhymes and they'll definitely be many!!

Work it out!!!!!!

Can't stress this enough, atleast 30-40 mins is the minimum for maths. I'm serious, work out each sum, don't ever think it's a waste, you'll see the results. Practice makes perfect. Work out every single sum, from examples to exercise ones cause let's be honest, our examiners love to take problems from every nook and cranny of the book.

Whiteboard method

So, I made this up and it actually works, if you have a whiteboard or anything else, once you completed a chapter, take a random page and whatever sums you have on those two pages, you need to complete within a given time limit. It helps you to identify your weak points and where the hell you're losing both time and effort and not to mention that it gives you confidence boost up.

i would say the difference is in the fact that naruto was able to at least create a relationship with gaara, he’s at least gaara’s friend in a way and has important interactions/insights with/about gaara (like them both being jinchuuriki and all). hinata doesn’t even get that, she gets naruto’s sympathy in chunin exams because what neji says about her can be applied to what people generally feels about naruto himself, and that affects him personally. nothing ever comes out of this though, naruto and hinata do not bond or even have a relationship because of his sympathy, in the end, this situation is more about his character and his goals, not hinata as a person or a potential influence over him.

now what gaara and hinata have in common is something we are all aware of… naruto doesn’t reciprocate either! (and he also doesn’t have chemistry with either). naruto rejects gaara in front of his family because of sasuke. naruto doesn’t pay any thoughts to hinata’s confession and then says the same things she said to him but to sasuke one arc later. and both fandoms seem to direct a lot of hate towards sasuke, who can’t be the right person to naruto because he is sooo toxic, because narusasu is not wholesome, sasuke isn’t like gaara (after his 180 twist) or hinata, who can only ever worship naruto and the ground he walks on. because another thing gaara and hinata have in common is the fact that they do not challenge naruto in any way. and all of that while ignoring important points of the story and of naruto’s character, like WHY narusasu is “toxic” and how despite all that, sasuke is exactly who naruto wants, he’s the only fish in the sea.

what is ironic, and that is what pisses me off, is how narugaa shippers act like they are on a higher moral ground because narugaa is sooo wholesome uwu sanitised gays <3 as if gaara wasn’t on a killing spree for funsies, naruto being no exception. but it doesn’t matter cause gaara did a 180 twist and became a boring naruto follower, and he would honestly bore naruto in a relationship as much as hinata.

Centuries upon centuries ago when the world was newly made, simple and innocent, untouched by the future of mankind, you were one of the lucky angels to interact with the first of humanity, particularly the first woman positively caught your eye, Lilith was everything to you and yet, you were just another angel in her eyes, a friend.

You knew that you'd always be just a friend to her, after all she was to be the wife of Adam, the mother of humanity that was her duty, so you never stood a chance in the first place.

You wondered what if you didn't fall with them? What if you stayed in heaven? Who would you be?

You glanced up at the rather large painting you had on the wall, of you beside her, a young Charlie and that duck obsessed fool.

You would've preferred if it was just the three of you, without him but it would've seemed suspicious to just have a concerningly large hand painted portrait of just you, your supposed best friend and her daughter as if it was a family portrait.

You faintly remembered bickering with her before she vanished, something having to do with heaven.

"What does it matter? It's already done,"

Having regrets wouldn't fix anything, wishing you could've gone with her, you had new obligations to fulfill.

"Now I've got to be there for her daughter,"

You now were supporting her daughter, making sure she's happy, healthy and supported by her technically not a parent.

"It's over, isn't it?"

You should move on, you really, really truly should.

"Isn't it? isn't it over?"

But you wouldn't, not right now at least.

It would be alright for you to hold on for a little while longer right?

You slumped down to the cold unsympathetic floor who if it was sentient would've left ages ago.

You stared back up at the portrait, burning the image into your eyeballs.

If you weren't here when she inevitably returned, would she even care?

You stared up at her image in the portrait, her eyes staring back into yours.

You stayed like that for heaven and hell knows how long until you were brought back to reality by a knock on your door followed by a voice belonging to the very man that sparked jealousy within you.

You took in a deep breath, taking one last glance at the portrait before you found a sheet to cover it with.

You grabbed the doorknob and twisted opening the door to a gleaming duck obsessed fool, someone who had no idea about the feelings you harboured for his wife, someone who genuinely considered you a trusted friend.

You decided, moving on from your feelings for Lilith would be for the better.

Truly it would be for the better.

“Don’t ever leave me again.”

“...What?” said the Wanderer, turning his full attention to her. His indigo eyes were open wide, and his voice lacked the usual sardonic edge that it had to it. She looked back at him, clutching at her chest. “I said, don’t ever leave me again,” she repeated. Her eyes held unshed tears in them. Upon seeing this, the Wanderer’s breath hitched momentarily, before he recovered his composure. “What do you mean by that? It’s not like you to be so cryptic,” he asked, his expression and tone both as serious as could be. She shook her head violently, strands of her hair flying about in the light wind. “It was so selfish of you to try to erase yourself. If I weren’t from another world, I might not have remembered you at all! Would you have been happy with that?!” she said, her voice increasingly elevating in volume towards the end.

The Wanderer looked back at her in surprise. He’d always thought that she hated him for all that he’d done to her. But there was genuine hurt laying in her eyes, which were now brimming with tears. “I…” he started, but was unable to finish. He felt his throat constrict, as if something was stuck in it. Seeing that she had caused discomfort within him, her expression softened slightly before she took a deep breath, turning away from him and whispering, “Forget I said anything. I’m sorry.” 

He refused to take this sudden dismissal, and stood from his spot on the grass, moving to sit next to her. She tried to turn her head away again, but he seized her chin and forcefully turned her towards him. “Look at me,” the Wanderer demanded, but his tone held none of the venom that it may have had in the past. She looked into his eyes silently, waiting for him to say something. “Why weren’t you happy when I left? As Scaramouche, I locked you up and kept you away from everyone… I hurt you… And I deprived you of your freedoms. I’m not any better than Dottore. He did the same for me. I hate Dottore, so… Why don’t you hate me? Why did you feel the need to run around so hastily, going so far as to ask the Traveller and Lesser Lord Kusanali for their help? Why did you want to take me back?” 

She was silent for a moment before her hand came up slowly to rest on his, which was still clutching her chin. She removed his hand from her face and set it down, before her hand went to cup his own face, much more gently than he had done to her. “You are not like Dottore,” she began, her voice holding that kindness that he was so familiar with, “Dottore’s only goal is to further his twisted experiments. The things you did to me… Although they were horrible, I know that you did it for a reason, and not one as impersonal as Dottore’s. You did all those things because you were scared. You didn’t want me to leave like the others. I am certain that you loved me, that you still do, no matter how you decided to show it to me. I’m not sure why it is, but… I can no longer imagine my life without you. Maybe I have come to love you too, in some strange way. That’s why… When you disappeared from the world, I felt no happiness or satisfaction. I just wanted to get you back… Because when you aren’t here, I feel like there’s a piece of me missing. That’s all.”

The Wanderer was silent, but tears had begun flowing from his eyes. It had been so long since he’d cried, yet it didn’t feel the same as it used to. In the past, whenever he cried, it had been because of a deep, gnawing sadness that threatened to eat him whole. But now… He didn’t feel that sadness trying to consume him. He felt warm. He felt as if there was finally some worth to continuing his cursed existence. Overwhelmed with this emotion, sobs began to wrack the Wanderer’s body, his shoulders and his lips beginning to shake. Wordlessly, she took him into her arms, one of her hands hugging his waist, and the other resting on the back of his head as he cried into the crook of her neck. His own arms encircled her body, his hands clutching desperately at the back of her shirt, as if his life depended on holding onto her.

The gentle wind enveloped the two as the Wanderer continued crying into the comfort of her embrace. It felt difficult for him to breathe properly. She seemed to notice this, and started stroking his hair gently. Somehow, this grounded the Wanderer slightly, and he felt the pain in his heaving lungs gradually subsiding. As his tears began to dry up, his mind felt like a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. ‘She loves me… She actually loves me,’ he affirmed to himself, taking in a shaky breath, ‘Maybe… Maybe I’m not as bad as Dottore after all. Yeah… If she loves me after everything I did, then that has to be the case… Right?’ While the Wanderer sorted his tumultuous thoughts, she noticed that the shaking of his shoulders had begun to calm, which made her smile lightly. 

Once his tears had dried up, the Wanderer reluctantly pulled himself away from her embrace. She attempted to make eye contact with him, but he averted his eyes. Eventually, she gave up on the eye contact, and instead moved her hand to hold his gently as he spoke, “I don’t deserve you. I tried to break you, to devour your spirit, to make you mine… Yet you harbour no hatred towards me. Instead, you have come to yearn for me as I do you. I don’t understand. How can you love me when I’ve done nothing but bad things to you? All you did was care for me, and I responded by… by ruining your life.” After he’d said this, he sucked in a deep breath, biting his lip nervously. His shoulders had started to shake again, and he still refused to look at her. She sighed and placed her free hand on one of his shoulders, holding his quivering body still. “That doesn’t matter to me anymore. I’m willing to move past that. Because I love you, Kuni.”

These words hit the Wanderer like a slap to the face. It had been so long since he’d heard her use the affectionate nickname that she’d bestowed upon him when she’d first learned of his true name. Her confession repeated over and over again in his head, and he found his guilt melting away. Finally, he looked at her, and was momentarily taken aback by the soft but firm emotion in her eyes. He sighed heavily, then started speaking once again, “I… I love you too. And I’m sorry about everything… Recently, I have realized that no matter how hard I try, I cannot change the past completely. I won’t ever be able to atone for what I’ve done to you… But still, will you stay by my side?” For a few moments, nothing could be heard except for the song of the wind brushing by the two. Then, she smiled. “I will stay with you, Kuni,” she assured him, “But you must promise me one thing. At my side, you will change. If you cannot erase your past, you must instead change your future. And I will be there with you as you do so.”

Kuni smiled, looking at her fondly. Then, his expression changed into a teasing smirk. “Obviously,” he remarked, his usual sass returning to his voice, “After all that you’ve said, if you think you’re ever going to be able to leave, you’re wrong.” She laughed, the sound making something in his chest flutter. “It’s not like I’d want to, anyway,” she said, embracing him again. He returned the embrace, his arms circling her gently, but protectively.

Even though the sins of his past still bore into him, Kuni figured he’d be okay. Because now he had someone by his side. And together with her, he could change his future for the better.

Life is strange double exposure review:

I wasn’t sold on the trailers and tid-bits leading up to double exposure so I instead watched someone play the game, but since the life is strange games are more story driven, I’d say I still got a similar experience if I had actually played the game. Anyways in my opinion this new instalment has absolutely killed the series for me😭

Pros:

•the start of the game actually wasn’t that bad, the new setting and the supernatural murder mystery was a good angle. And a good spin on the first game with Rachel amber, expect this time with more of a supernatural twist.

•The characters like Moses and ESPECIALLY Gwen were my favourite characters. (Gwen is such a big hear me out I’m sorry, like 😮‍💨) we’re great and I enjoyed their time on screen.

•graphics are good as expected

•Chloe’s character (even tho she never shows up) is done so well! If you chose to sacrifice Arcadia bay Chloe builds upon her character arc in the first game, she’s learning to live with the consequences of her actions and learn that she has an impact on others and that other’s feelings matter. And in the texts in this game she states she wants to look toward the future. Very good character building👌

Cons:

•The ending of the game, chapters 4-5 were horrendous imo. It fundamentally went against what life is strange is about.

•my MAIN criticism is the way they end the game. I’ve never been a big superhero fan, I couldn’t care less for them (except deadpool he’s funny) but that’s why I love life is strange cause it’s a realistic depiction of what people would really do if they got superpowers. Max tries to question why she got hers but can’t come up with a clean answer. In these games the power feels more like a burden rather than a blessing. The focus is more on the relationships between the characters. I also love how in the first game it feels like max is somehow not meant to have this power but nonetheless she does, and whenever she uses it it just destroys reality. However in this new game it goes too much towards that marvel vibe in my opinion. Making safi evil with her powers made kinda sense? But the way the set up like a future battle between safi and max was just too outlandish for me. In the first game max doesn’t fight crime, she just gets on with her life and tries to deal with her strange new ability. However in this one she acts like the superhero of the local town.

•The way that multiple people know in the game that max has powers puts me off, I like when only one or 2 characters know about the power as it makes the bond between them stronger and more meaningful. But in this one max just feels like your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

•the whole storm sequence I interpreted as a nightmare, like the first game. Almost like the physical embodiment of time is taunting max. But in this one the fact that all the characters were really there and experienced the weird time line thingy makes it feel like a high stakes endgame scenario and not a person’s inner struggles. And the fact that not everyone is traumatised from that beyond belief is unbelievable. They just kinda like “oh damn that was weird”

•Giving safi powers was… a choice. I didn’t hate it and it was an interesting avenue to explore but I didn’t exactly love it either. We as the player know that there are more than one person in this universe who has powers but the magic of being the only one is lost when these super powered people interact with each other. The shapeshifting for safi was also a bit out there. Max Daniel and Alex’s powers work I feel like cause it’s a force and not a physical change as their power. But now that safi has shapeshifting It just feels too ridiculous. Like how could you hide that?

• dialogue was really bad at times especially when safi goes “I am my own mom” 💀

• I don’t understand what the thing safi’s mum kept secret from her was. Was it the fact that she cancelled her book? That seems a bit extreme to pull a gun out on your mum cause she cancelled your book. And then she was like “ everyone lies to me!” Girl WHO!?!?

•max is made into a bit of a dick head in this game. She wants to keep Chloe around even though Chloe doesn’t need her rewind, but she keeps insisting it upon Chloe. And it’s cause of this that Chloe can’t be around max anymore cause max can’t focus on the future and reminds Chloe too much of her past mistakes when Chloe needs to look to the future.

Anyways sorry for rambling so much but if you read it all thank you for listening to this girl groan on about how she didn’t like the newest lesbian powers game.

Right now there are a lot of ex tkk out there who left after Paris. Some of who wrote little to late apologies to Jimin for believing he was the devil/villain, when now they realize that title belongs to the big TK accounts who hand fed them lies. Re-verse Felix Graham de Vanily (Argos)from My dystopian universe au(based on the Paris special)

I decided to keep the villain name the same even in the alternate world because I just like it that much, all the other charecters names will be inverted like Toxinelle,Hesperia and Griffe Noir.

Re-verse Argos is the definition of sweet and psycho, he is a smooth talker who manages to get his way out of several interactions whether from the Supreme or the resistance,he knows how to get what he wants and is loyal only to himself and the few people he cares about, but he is currently allied with the Supreme and his forces because of convenience, presevation, and because he's intrigued.

He's not above working with his enemies if it meant sharing a common goal,he does absolutely despise Supreme but he's also curious about him so he decides to play along for the meantime until he is able to find more information regarding the matter.

Argos is someone who generally knows how to keep his cool, he's cold and caluclated,and can get really sadistic when it comes to psychologically tormenting his foes, Felix holds a kind of twisted thought process derived from his own experiences with his father and the Supreme that all people in the world were wretched monsters so while he doesn't immediately resort to genocide it's not exactly off the table he's just broadening his options.

Since he's entirely against the option of destroying the Sentibeings he creates he also ends up overriding the block on his miraculous causing him to also be affected by the repressions exactly like Toxinelle and Griffe Noir, Argos has different sentis posted on different locations of the city to do things such as recon, all time surveillance, to pursue any suspicious individual and to help him do tasks, along with red moon he also has a dog senti that assists him in battle it's able to change forms and shift into different types of creatures, red moon assists him to temporarily get rid of anyone who may act as a threat and red moon also additionally allows Argos to teleport across long distances as long as he's covered in the ruby light, there's also a dragonfly senti for recon.

Atleast for the first act there's a bit of role reversal from the og series Adrien's relationship with Gabriel is tenuous, so he ended up spending a lot more time with his cousin, Adrien hates Colt and how he treated Felix, but he could never really do anything about it, Felix found out a short while ago about his origin as a sentihuman and managed to narrow down Adrien's as well since then he kept this a secret, he didn't tell Adrien anything about it for the meantime but when Adrien told him about his own identity Felix asked him of one request just to retrieve the peacock miraculous from Hesperia's ally Pavana, Adrien did just that during a battle he managed to cataclysm Hesperia on the arm and knock the peacock miraculous from Pavana as well from an attack from Toxinelle that managed to gravely injure her leading for all of Paris to believe she died. Toxinelle chased after Hesperia and the membes of the resistance as they retreated back to their hideout while Griffe Noir managed to recover the peacock miraculous from the wreckage and without permission from the Supreme he handed it straight to Felix Albeit with consequences.

Felix's personality is initially very different from who he grows to become for plot reasons Colt didn't die immediately after Emelie, the use of the peacock miraculous weakened his body, and his condition is becoming worse as the days go by but he was still alive for the meantime atleast Colt used to involved in the Supreme's inner circle much like Gabriel and the Graham de Vanily twin sisters, Felix in the beginning of the au will act similarly to how he did before his father died but this won't last long as I have plans to fully flesh out his charecter and his motives.

I'm not really good at describing in short summary for posts without spoiling the entire au so I'll stop right here 😅.

I really liked his og design from the series it's really one of my favourites, and at first I really didn't know how to go with the Re-verse outfit so I decided to just experiment with the main colours of purple, pink, turquoise and blue and decided on the main colour being purple, and gave him a short pongtail and black sclera and made the ends of the tailcoat to resemble peacock feathers(from behind)

I also got really inspired by this costume I saw on pinterest, I wanted to convey a specific vibe with Felix's design so I hope I managed to achieve that.

This will probably be made into a little series, I don't plan on involving all the main characters as miraculous holders.

There's a reason why I won't be able to involve Rena Rouge or carapace (in different names)even as heroes.

Chloe as a miraculous holder maybe... I have special plans for her charecter arc.

I have a hot take people might hate. I dont inherently dislike seeing Apollo's "side of the story," but it needs to be in a better written story and/or just not this one. This could be a time to disect the privlage and dilution he has built for himself by showing fundamental flaws in his thinking like maybe Apollo using Zeus bad leadership as an excuse for his actions but taking this thought to an unnatural degree. Not for us to sympathize but see how he is twisted and what causes him to be this way like cracking open a curious egg. It can still be a bad egg, but I want to know how it's bad. But, I do agree it fell closer to sympathizing vs. Exploring. Personally the first time I read it I expected it to be a dive into twisted logic and that's how I read it. However, I 100% see what people mean about it falling too far into dismissive and sympathising. I think that kind of in depth storytelling is better for a different story that is not Lore Olympus targeted at children who might not read it as an analysis of evil. Maybe less "his side of the story 🤔" and more "a look into the thoughts of a delutional monster."

Yeah I agree, I don’t think a lot of tweens just looking for a cute romance story to latch onto would really think too much about the complexities of a rapist. It’s weird honestly, I can see what she’s trying to do but the SA is already pretty much crumbled in this story and I’d rather her just forget about it completely. Rachel bringing this up now has made it clear that the sexual assault was only ever used for drama, it’s clear that she ran out of good plot points (that actually made sense in the story) and she realized that fans still wanted Apollo to be dealt with since it was literally framed in a way that he was going to presumably face some consequence. So she had no choice but to put this flimsy and rushed sequence together, it’s quite sad honestly.

I only say this since she’s written Persephone out to be the perfect victim of her own SA. Everyone believed her right off the bat despite Apollo’s crystal clear image, her trauma doesn’t have any disturbing or even depressing sides to it that we know of (we only get small peeks into it), what happened to her doesn’t affect ANY of her male relationships and she’s framed as being more content and safe with them rather than any female character she’s ever interacted with, she’s still so incredibly sexually active and most of all ready for any sort of intimacy with her partner no matter what. The comic has literally been showing us that Persephone rarely cares about her trauma since she treats it like such an after thought and whenever she does remember it it’s played off as some kind of inside joke more than actual trauma.

The whole SA is disgusting and Rachel should’ve never put it in her damn story if she didn’t know how to actually handle it not only correctly but with any sort of respect at all. It’s deplorable how she’s still dragging it on just for shock value and whenever she’s run out of things to put in her story. SA or any sort of terrible crimes against another person is not to be used as drama or some kind of “spicy” romantic development in your story, it’s so incredibly disrespectful to real victims and yet Rachel continues to do it which is why I have no respect for her. There’s just some things you don’t do for money or engagement and this is one of the things.

I just finished season 7 of my Dexter rewatch, and wow, that gut-punch of a scene. I always thought of it as a plot twist, a surprise, as the episode’s title—“Surprise, Motherfucker!”—would suggest the viewer is meant to think about it, but this time around, knowing what’s about to happen, it feels inevitable. As if there were nothing else that could possibly happen. And I’m rethinking the way I view this entire show. The first time around, when it was first airing, I always thought of Dexter Morgan as an antihero, someone like Batman, who achieved justice where the system failed, albeit a much more bloody and violent justice. Now it seems clear to me that Dexter isn’t an antihero, and almost certainly isn’t meant to be one by the writers. He’s the main figure in a sort of modern day Greek tragedy.

The tragedy of what happened to his mother, sure, and the trauma her death caused, and the way it made him fascinated with blood and death...that much is obvious. But what I’m seeing now are things that, for whatever reason, escaped me before. Things like his adoptive father seeing this fascination with blood and death and, instead of treating it as an unhealthy coping mechanism for his trauma, seeing it—and more tragically, explaining it to Dexter in such a way that he believes it himself—not as something he could possibly heal from, but as a fatalistic, permanent, and defining aspect of who and what Dexter is. Harry’s belief that Dexter just isn’t normal, and never can be, and the way this shaped Dexter’s own sense of himself and the possibilities his life could hold. The way Harry uses Dexter to fulfill his own cop vengeance fantasies that he can’t enact, and the way that Harry’s subsequent suicide makes Dexter feel like it’s all his own fault.

And there’s the fact that Dexter builds a normal life for himself first as a mask to hide what he thinks truly defines him, but doesn’t even question the idea of this side of his life as “false” until midway into the show, when he begins to see that he is just as capable of meaningful human relationships as anyone else is, and that his brokenness isn’t something unique to him but a feature everyone shares, though in much less extreme ways. How he only realizes, after so much personal loss and tragedy, that his “need” to kill is only a passing emotional state that doesn’t control him, and the way he only realizes this after so much killing when it’s too late to live a life uncomplicated by murder and criminal guilt and murderous habits.

The way he, based on Harry’s beliefs, makes decisions and prioritizes things in ways that seem very small at first, but it’s soon obvious, cumulatively, that he’s unintentionally hurting those he loves in ways that don’t stab but cut like paper.

And the way his ultimate decision that his “fake” life—his career and relationships—is the most important thing to him, and he doesn’t want to lose it, the way this realization comes too late because at this point he’s already given up so much to the altar of his hidden life that so very little of the “normal” life he now values so much is even left at this point.

And of course there’s Deb, and her love for him, and how it causes her to make so many bad decisions, so many instances of giving up her own self for him, and the way this culminates in such a horrifying way for her at the end of season 7—we’re not really even sure if the shot was intentional or an accident, but that doesn’t matter, not for her. It’s so tragic. And the way that she’s so overcome by horror and grief, for herself and for Laguerta, and the sheer agony evident on her face as she breathes, “I hate you,” a line that not even the subtitles caption—you just have to pay attention and listen or be able to read her lips—Damn.

And above all, how things didn’t have to be this way. If Harry had had more faith in Dexter as a child. If he hadn’t—just like a cop—believed that people’s dark sides are the most important things about them. That people are either good people or bad people and that the former need to be protected from the latter at all costs.

How could anyone see this show as being about Dexter’s little darkly comic adventures and the way he forges his own deadly brand of justice, and not about how his entire life, and that of everyone he becomes important to, is just one sad, devastating story after another????

I wanna know where this claim that devs at capcom intended Ashley and Leon to be platonic is coming from, i really do.

There was an article written for Game Informer during the pre-release of RE4make where the devs talked about revamping Ashley's character from what she was like in OG, because they recognized that if the player hated Ashley (like many OG players did), they'd probably hate the game.

One of the things they improved re: Ashley was her relationship with Leon.

RE4make had two directors: Yasuhiro Ampo and Kazunori Kadoi

Kadoi wanted Leon to hold Ashley's hand during gameplay, but Ampo didn't like it and shot down the idea.

This is the exact quote:

The translation from the original Japanese quote to what was written in the English article seems... unpolished. The text of the article says that this was just an idea pitched during concept drafting, but Kadoi's quote sounds more like the handholding was something that was actually implemented in the game but then taken out when Ampo didn't like it. Without seeing the original Japanese of what Kadoi actually said, it's impossible to know what actually happened there.

We also don't know what Kadoi meant by saying "Ampo thought it looked like [Leon and Ashley] were too close." Fandom has taken it to mean that Ampo thought that Leon and Ashley looked too close in their relationship, but with how shaky the translation here seems to be, he could have just as easily meant that they looked too close physically and took up too much space on the screen in a way that negatively impacted gameplay.

But regardless of when and how it happened, the fandom took this quote from Kadoi and played a game of telephone with it. A lot of context and nuance is missing from Kadoi's quote to begin with, which made it really easy to twist his words. Personally, I don't see how Leon leading Ashley around by the hand like she was a child would be something that a grown man like Ampo would see as romantic -- it just comes off as patronizing and infantilizing to me -- but, again, there are pieces of this story that are clearly missing on top of the poor translation.

But even if Ampo did shoot down the handholding because he thought that they looked too romantically entangled or whatever, the fact of the matter remains that it was only just his personal, solitary opinion and objection. And from the way Kadoi tells the story, it sounds like he (Kadoi) is still a little bit miffed about it -- it sounds like it was something he really wanted to have in the game.

It also bears keeping in mind that Kadoi said this as a fun, throwaway little anecdote that was meant more as a jab at Ampo than anything else -- not a serious statement about intention that he wanted players to make note of.

So the biggest detail that's missing here is: the context for how and why this decision was made. If this was something that Kadoi wanted in the game so badly -- to the point of openly roasting Ampo about it in interviews with Western games media -- then why did he relent and let Ampo's word supersede his? For all we know, this was part of a compromise of "I let you have your fairy tale, but this show of affection is too far."

But we don't know. And we can't know. Because we weren't in the room when it happened, and Kadoi didn't give us enough information for us to know.

What gets lost here is that Yasuhiro Ampo wasn't the only person who worked on the game -- and, in fact, wasn't even the only director for the game -- and his view on this clearly does not seem to speak for the entire dev team.

So what started with Kadoi saying "Ampo specifically didn't like the idea of Leon and Ashley holding hands during gameplay" morphed into "The devs didn't like the idea of Leon and Ashley holding hands [at all]" which then got twisted further into "The devs wanted to make sure that Leon and Ashley's interactions were seen strictly as platonic."

But that's not what was ever said.

And to be completely honest with you, this is such a tangential nothingburger of a quote that I'm sure that Kazunori Kadoi's forgotten that he ever even said it. Fandom gives way too much weight to this inconsequential, unserious little side story of nothing.

Sometimes i wonder what it was like for the mukami bros to turn into vampires. Since vampires look so similar to humans the fact that they are a different species really slips my mind sometimes.....

So sometimes I find myself wondering what that psychological shift was like. The mukami bros were all pretty young and had grudges against humans in some way when they were turned, so parting with their humanity wasn't on their minds I think lol.

But despite spending lot of their childhood/puberty around vampires they still do act a lot more human like than the sakamakis. Granted, the sakamakis def have a lot trauma that compromises their ability to have any type of healthy relationship. But characters like ayato suggest that vampires aren't inherently incapable of the more "human" emotions (don't rlly know a good word for it mb).

I do remember ruki saying somewhere that because he is weak he stays with his family (not the only reason ofc, but having to band together/find strength in numbers to survive is a very human-like thing), yet he and his bros abandoned being human/ hold some level of resentment for humanity.

Anyways all that to say the mukami bros have an interesting relationship with their "humanity" and I'm overanalyzing characters in an otome game of which the lore is constantly retconned. Complicating this is the fact that we don't have a "average" or "normal" vampire to compare with

Also reject totally missed an opportunity to make a character that didn't want to be turned into a vampire, and had to struggle with the changes.

Hmm… If the person who becomes a vampire is kind-hearted and mentally stable enough to avoid wishing revenge upon someone or using their newfound vampire status as an excuse to treat people badly, I sincerely doubt that the psychological transition from human to vampire would hit that hard. Trauma caused the Mukami brothers to develop such a vicious nature, exactly like Yui in HDB did at one point when, as a result of being mentally broken, she started killing people in an After story. While pure-blood vampires do have their own set of morals and they obviously need blood to survive, I wouldn’t say they are inherently evil, taking into account that in LP and VC, some vampires were nice to Yui and the Diaboys. They are indeed predators, that’s something they can’t control no matter how much they try, but not all of them are malicious.

The Mukamis got rid of their humanity but they still kept acting like humans around one another because, after all, that’s how they were initially accustomed to. As for the Sakamakis… due to trauma as well, they were pretty twisted since childhood. I mean, most of them were the main cause something bad happened to any of their brothers in the past, therefore it’s to be expected that their relationship is not a healthy one. However, vampires are actually capable of experiencing human emotions, and Ayato is the living example of this given that he is confirmed as being the most human-like out of all due to the fact that he was already capable of displaying these emotions prior to meeting Yui (for example: wanting to sacrifice himself for his brothers, ruining Karl’s blue rose so as Cordelia wouldn’t get sad, crying when Cordelia died and, most importantly, valuing his life). Additionally, a vampire will begin to experience human emotions the more Eve's blood he consumes, so... that's basically part of the plan, according to what Karl said in Ayato’s DF route.

I wouldn't say the Mukamis hate humans; they held a grudge against aristocrats, but not humans in general, because they only see them as an inferior species. As for Ruki, the reason he would feel weak without his family isn’t only due to banding together or finding strength in number but rather it’s about them as his emotional support. Kou, Yuma, Azusa respect, praise and accept Ruki with all his qualities and flaws, therefore feeling needed and appreciated is actually what makes Ruki strong.

I am very glad you said this, because I really feel like Jiang Cheng's redemption is doing better for Jin Ling who now DOES have a wide circle of support that isn't reliant on only Jiang Cheng. Unlike the way it had been with Wei Wuxian who he refuses to believe was mistreated by himself and his family aside from Jiang Yanli. He looked at the world in ways of what he should have deserved and hence why his moniker is so apt even at the end. He hasn't let all his hate go, especially the envy he has about his own part that led to his unhappiness. But it was long overdue to let go of what tethered him to Wei Wuxian and when he could have yet again guilted Wei Wuxian into submitting to his side, he doesn't.

This is also HARDLY the opening of love fandom wants it to be, he has not had that in a long time towards Wei Wuxian and probably since he blamed Wei Wuxian for choosing Lan Wangji over him and his parents. That kind of hate doesn't change at the drop of a dime, and he kept insisting that he should be allowed to hate and want to hurt Wei Wuxian without the guilt of owing him anything. It's the one time he chooses to do something unselfish finally for Wei Wuxian and getting nothing in return. He finally sucks it up because kindness is not always rewarded, realistically in life. Hate is a lot easier to feel still and indifference when you let it go. His unhappiness with his jealousy was self-made and exasperated by the excuses he used to blame all his wrongs life gave to him on Wei Wuxian.

He doesn't stop Jin Ling from continuing his own growing relationship with both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. His love won't ever be normal, unfortunately, and I don't think he knows how to express it in a loving/affectionate way due to his heavy reliance on wanting to impress a dead mother that was cruel to him and him heavily emulating her and making his own unhappiness as she did. It's a horrendous cycle of parental and generational abuse. But he's able to let that go somewhat for Jin Ling, and I think that's at most what he is capable of doing selflessly finally. He isn't giving Jin Ling stipulations for the safety he offers unlike with what he had said to Wei Wuxian:

A pause, and Jiang Cheng spoke, “Wei Wuxian have you still not realized the situation at hand? Do you really need me to say it out loud? If you insist on protecting them, then I won’t be able to protect you.”

Wei Wuxian spoke, "There’s no need to protect me. Just let me go.”

Jiang Cheng’s face twisted.

Wei Wuxian continued, "Just let me go. Tell the world that I defected. From now on, no matter what Wei Wuxian does, it has nothing to do with the Yunmeng Jiang Sect.”

Jiang Cheng, “… All of this for the Wen Sect…? Wei Wuxian do you have some sort of savior complex? Do you think you'll die if you don’t stand up for someone and make trouble because of that?"

You don't tell someone you offer your protection only if it doesn't bother you. That's not protection or love, that's a business transaction and you not viewing the other important enough to protect from harm. And Jiang Cheng regretted the one time he did this because he gained nothing from it. Despite all his promises of protecting Wei Wuxian if he didn't tell the Jiang parents of the trouble he caused during the night because he scared Wei Wuxian.

He learned something, it's just not the kind of redemption his very vocal "fans" wanted.

Ugh... I had a gut feeling though, cause I saw people HATING Jake's character and calling him the worst.

Okay, BUT, I don't hate him. Surprisingly enough.

I'm actually intrigued by his character a lot more now.

I thought he was gonna be the precious bean. The sweetest character. But no, he's petty and impulsive.

I HAVE to give credit though, this is NOT something that came out of nowhere for me. He did snap at Nick in Episode 4 for stubbing his toe, and they established this episode more of Jake's past to add more context to his POV.

So he was in a toxic relationship before and got betrayed by it. That makes perfect sense to me. I understand why he'd be pissed. Tom lied to him.

But he DEFINATELY overreacted towards it. It's one thing to yell at the heat of the moment, it's another to vote for him just because you're pissed.

So, yeah, I'm not excusing his behavior, I'm just understanding WHY.

"OH NO! A character is revealed to have FLAWS. And said flaws made things worse for other people! Well clearly I hate them now!!"

I'm just not that kinda person in how I view media. I don't hate characters just because they have flaws. When you're watching Total Drama, you gotta have that mindset too. Cause in that show, there's A LOT of characters that do screwed up things and it's wrong. So I'm used to it.

If anything, I guess Jake being revealed to have negative traits makes him a lot more interesting now. Cause yeah, I've been there. It sucks. Well, I wasn't in a toxic romantic relationship, but a toxic friendship when I was younger. It lasted for years so it left me pretty distasteful to the people around me and everyone hated me for... acting like Jake did here, honestly. How bout that?

At least the lie is outed earlier in the season, so it's not as bad as it could've been...?
