Do you have any headcanons and ideas on how Leon and Ashley would get together after the events of the game's remake version? This of course is just an ask based on headcanons so i am not claiming that this is an endgame must have or something 🫡

I've seen some ppl suggest that their relationship would be more like a on and off due to Leon's schedule and job and I'm inclined to agree.

*rubs hands together* Now this is fun to think about! What you need to know about me is that I love messy dynamics that have no clear labels to put on them. I tend to dabble into that with pretty much all of my pairings in one way or another. Eagleone is no exception to that rule. In my Sunny Relaxation fic I wrote them with a 'friends-with-benefits' kind of arrangement in mind, but warm feelings of mutual affection are very much present and not concealed in any way. That would probably change in long-term, but I love exploring that unspoken in-between.

As to how they would get to that point, I'd say Ashley would have to be the one to initiate it. I personally imagine them having the ability to contact one another if they ever want to, be it by phone number, email, etc. They do have each other's contact info! I also like to imagine Leon making an appearance on her graduation day. That said, Leon's schedule is a hectic one, and he has a capacity for distancing himself on top of that, so Ashley would have to be the one to reach out to him. Maybe they do have an occasional chance meeting when he's in Washington, but those are rare. Most of their meet-ups would be scheduled.

The fandom majorly agrees that Leon is a massive yearner. That said, again, I don't think he'd be the type to act on any of his feelings, whether those are romantic, sexual, or both (now his og self is another story, but I won't go into that). Maybe an occasional lingering touch or two, a soft, prolonged look, but that's pretty much it. Thankfully, Ashley is not really the type to dance around an issue, especially once she finds her confidence after her experiences in Spain. She'd have no problem making the first move. And Leon? Well, he's someone who's relatively easy to cave in as soon as he gets the taste of what he craves.

I do see them starting with a somewhat casual arrangement. Mostly since neither are really sure where it would take them in the long-run, and all the pressure and expectations that come with an official title are fairly daunting (especially for Leon, who feels like he can't be someone she deserves). That, and they are both very busy people. It's hard to get a hold of Leon, what with him constantly being sent around the country and beyond it, while Ashley probably has her own hustle to deal with. But there are those days when they can see each other. And they will make the most of those.

I also think the first 'I love you' would be a very simple and casual one. Something like Ashley leaving a parting kiss on his cheek just before getting in the cab, and pulling away with a soft 'love you'. One that definitely has Leon standing there for a good 5 minutes after she's already long gone, frozen like a telephone pole. He isn't getting any sleep that night.

That said, I'm also a sucker for the idea of Leon having to train Ashley at some point, all kinds of old feelings resurfacing in the process. Though I don't think her becoming a DSO agent of all things would make much sense. I usually like to picture her working for TerraSave, if I do play around with an 'agent Ashley' idea. Nothing like a combat training session turning into a steamy makeout.... Definitely one of the ideas I wanna write at some point!

I thought this was interesting. Ashley and Leon's POVs at different moments in the post-surgery scene.

While Ashley's still focused on the map, Leon instead looks at her.

We, as the audience, witness Leon experience "The Fall" back in chapter 9, but this is the moment, I think, when Leon finally sees it, himself. This is when he finally realizes it, and when she notices it for the first time: that he loves her, too.

It also gives a layered meaning to their follow-up exchange:

Ashley: "You sure you're okay?" Leon: "Never been better."
