#kuzuoumaweek2024 day 2; Crossover/Cosplay!

Originally I was gonna do a PMD AU type thing, but I struggled to pick a Pokémon the two would be and my brain went. Hey, what if we did the ‘personalized Miku in your OC universe’ thing and boom. Valentina High Kuzuouma designs 😎

Fuyuhiko agrees to attend the highschool because there’s a rumor that the upcoming heir to an allied clan was also picked up by the program, and wishes to see what happened to them. The school also agreed to enroll his sister Natsumi and swordswoman/friend Peko, so Natsumi wouldn’t be left behind and Peko could finally get experienced with making friends and being a person.

Kokichi agrees to attending the program because it’s not a common thing in the area for highschools to have dorms, and he could use the free housing. He’s also no stranger to wanting to cause trouble, and a program like Valentina High can allow him to do just that! Just gotta talk to the right people and he’ll find good representatives for his totally not made up gang.

Kokichi and Fuyuhiko end up sharing a lot of the same classes, which leads to the gangster getting pulled into a lot of Kokichi’s mischief, and potentially needing to pull him out of it. Kokichi’s annoying, always disrupting class and digging into the wrong people. And Fuyuhiko’s such an odd ball guy, being the upcoming leader to a notorious Yakuza clan, but also being such a stickler for some of the school’s policies. No one saw them becoming as close as they have, not in a million years. But, that saying ‘opposites attract’ must hold some ground…

Ichika has definitely closet cosplayed at least one (1) Miku outfit. Her goal is to one day save enough to get a good one professionally made, but she doesn't know which Miku to cosplay when that day comes. Should she go with a Snow Miku look? But Sakura Miku is so pretty. Oh, but she loved Miku's TriColor Airplane look. Secret Police Miku?? Should she just, go with OG Miku??

This is SO REAL I have done closet cosplays before and want to buy/make a real one but also. Consider. Ichika could get the wig and basic hair accessories and then annoy Tsukasa about helping her make some cosplays (I jest, Tsukasa wouldn't be annoyed, he'd be flattered to tears of which causes Ichika to panic)

They turn out SO NICE and she gets to add little details that aren't in the pre-made ones!!!

story time from my recent cosplay event!

First off me and my group were chilling in this little corner. I had had the official photographer come up to me there. And then another rlly nice photographer who was dressed in a steampunk dress which was cool

but this kid. Who must have been 4 or 5 walked past with his mum dressed as the hulk. And couldn’t stop looking at me. Like he kept tapping his mum. And about 5 minutes later his mum comes up to me and says “I’m rlly rlly sorry to bother you. But could he get a picture with you.” He looked so happy. It made me and my friends smile so much

and then my favourite interaction of the entire day. I was in a hmv and this young miku cosplayer kept looking at me. And I thought. “Oh she must just like the cosplay” but she came up to me and was like “excuse me. Are you cosplaying the smiler”. My autistic ass was literally fucking jumping up and down in excitement. They were so sweet and we had a convo about alton towers. It’s honestly made my month

Some Thoughts On Miku Expo 2024 (AZ)

So. Let's get the big one out of the way. I knew going into this concert that I was not going to be seeing the proper Miku hologram, which was cringe, but my friends and I had been preparing for this for a while and we're too excited to give up on it. We were determined to make the best out of a potentially bad situation.

And I will say, there was some good stuff at that concert. While the LED screen certainly wasn't ideal, the model they projected onto it was incredibly expressive, fluid, and honestly real in a way that a projection shouldn't be. That's just the power of Hatsune Miku I guess. And the band was absolutely incredible, I think I fell in love with the bassist.

For the songs I knew I had a great time. I was singing and dancing along, the crowd was really energized, there was something special in the room. And even some of the songs I didn't know I had fun dancing to. Vocaloid music almost always slaps. There's another positive I want to bring up, but I'm holding onto that for a bit. There is one more positive I promise.

But uhhh... There was a bit of a problem with the set list. I knew 2 songs on it. I would consider myself a more casual Hatsune Miku fan, I was more into her in middle school and listened to a lot of her classic songs. In fact my outfit was themed around my favorite of these, Two Faced Lovers. And they didn't play it! Even though it's one of her most popular songs ever of all time!!

I don't object to newer music being played, but part of the concert experience is the collective feeling you get there. The sense of community when you all sing along to a song in this room, looking at your idol on stage. But most of the crowd didn't seem to know these songs either. I would wager a lot of them were people who have been Vocaloid fans since their formative years, and the classics from those older eras mean a lot to people. It really limited the collective experience when most of us didn't know 80% of the songs on the set.

Furthermore, the LED projection was incredibly limited, and underutilized. I won't pretend to know anything about how it works but it really sucked that the visuals were so... Typical. I don't know if you've ever seen a Vocaloid music video, but those things are so visually stimulating, full of really creative and bonkers animation. They have songs with incredibly striking visuals attached to them that they could have put on the screens surrounding the stage, but they didn't do that.

I would say overall the experience was worth it. But it wasn't because of most of the set list, or because of the visuals, or because of the lighting. It was because of the people. The incredibly talented band that played with her. The masses of people who showed up in merch, in cosplay, doing choreography in line, playing games in the pit. It was the people who cheered for someone holding up a picture of Shadow The Hedgehog and all of us losing our shit over it. It was the Hatsune Miku plush without a hairline that got held up and caused us to all yell "BALD!" while pointing at it.

It was the people I made jokes with in the pit knowing I'd never see them again. It was the people who complimented my outfit and I did the same for them. It was the two Miku plushies that started fighting each other in the pit. It was everyone changing their light sticks to different colors for the different idols. It was the people. I know Miku is an artificial being, but she has a way of bringing people together and uniting us as one.

I just wish the event planners had utilized that properly.

Random silly TF2 Modern Highschool AU HCs that I just wanted to throw out there for fun:

Even tho' Soldier and Demo look like they would be the ones to play shooters or battle royal games, they mostly play (and sometimes stream/make let's plays of) chill games together. Like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft. Sometimes Sniper joins them when they play Stardew Valley 'cause a part of him misses that life back home.

Engineer and Medic would very much be weebs and will randomly do those magical girl poses together when they announce to the others that they've just finished their project or something. They also tend to do cosplaying with Spy and Pyro (sometimes Medic is able to drag Heavy into cosplaying as well).

Scout is very well versed in the world of dating sims. Ofc, he started playing these types of games at first to try and get better at picking up ladies, gents and enbys. But eventually, he played dating sims just for the fun of it (and sometimes these dating sims just have really good stories, alright? He definitely isn't crying to some of these games. Nope. Not at all).

Pyro has a huge following on Tiktok where they do different arts and crafts, edits, tips on baking (maybe they something similar to that chocolate guy), showing off their cosplay, and so on. Scout is often featured during art challenge videos.

The gang definitely have [irl] DnD nights together. Although Heavy isn't that huge into the roleplay and dice rolling and whatnot, he does think it's very satisfying to carefully paint the figurines and set up the maps that Pauling had planned for them to use for the night, and then watch the others get awestruck over the maps when they're shown.

Spy is the one that makes the cosplays for him and some of the others to use. Sometimes it takes longer than it should because Engineer and Medic can't sit still for the life of him, but he always comes around by the end when it's finished, feeling proud of himself for doing such an amazing job. He will not take compliments from the others however.

Sniper- along with Scout- is a huge Hatsune Miku fan. When he eventually visits back home to his parents, Sniper wants to figure out if he could get tickets to a Hatsune Miku concert at the same time. And maybe bring Scout with him as well.

Heavy and Medic often play co-op games together, especially of the puzzle kind. While Medic may overthink certain puzzles, Heavy will see the obvious and point it out. And when Heavy can't quite figure out what to do, Medic's there to brainstorm solutions with him and try it all out until it's solved.

General Hondo Headcanons

- likes hot baths, its like free therapy to him

- has a sweet tooth, specifically for caramel

- loves studying sea life, has a soft spot for squids because of that

- his grandma handmade him that bandana, it was actually used as a belt until he grew too big to tie it around his waist and used it as a bandana instead (its 99% not a bandana but i cant figure out what it is)

- will never admit it but is scared of elevators a whole lot, if anyone makes a comment about it he gets visibly anxious

- has cosplayed sailor moon "as a joke" multiple times along with hatsune miku

- has a routine he made himself and hates breaking said routine

- not scared of bugs, at all, he used to keep a pet moth named "pillow" until it died of natural causes, has a grave for pillow and talks to it sometimes

One character I really really hope they expand upon in Arcane once we get to Noxus is Annie.

Cause not only would it be hilarious to watch Mel get dragged around by a kid she stumbled into who’s got a reputation for being a bit too happy to set people on fire (but sticking around to learn more about being a mage.)

But also because I’m desperate to see how the company who turned jinx from hatsune miku in a Harley Quinn cosplay into one of my favourite characters ever would handle a very similar but much younger character.

She’s essentially powder immediately post incident if Silco never showed up. And that set up is dripping with potential.

There is one issue however. A big major elephant in the room anytime they want to include Annie in anything.

Her design is objectively kinda awful.

This doesn’t look like a feral child roaming noxus, fleecing people for food and clothes before burning them to the bone.

This doesn’t look like a girl who accidentally killed her sister and father before intentionally killing her stepmother.

She doesn’t even look like she belongs in league of legends let alone Noxus!

She looks… easy to cosplay. In the most derogatory way you can take that.

And I’m genuinely not sure how you could fix her design without entirely losing what makes her look like… well herself.
