I'm sorry but I genuinely can't understand how people can look at Stolitz and Catradora and think these ships are healthy in any way, shape or form.
Stolas r*ped Blitzø. No, consent given in a life-or-death situation doesn't count
Stolas is racist towards imps, and this didn't change even when he "fell in love" with Blitzø
Stolas doesn't appreciate or respect Moxxie and Millie in the slightest (and was disappointed that his "Prince Charming" wasn't the one to rescue him)
He looks down on Blitzø and calls him things like "impish little plaything" and "his big dicked Blitzy" and doesn't stop treating him like shit even when Blitzø says loud and clear that he hates being talked down on like this (DUH)
The only thing Stolas knows about Blitzø is that he hates books and the only thing Blitzø knows about Stolas is that he's a boring bookworm. Keep in mind, the two figured this out about each other while they were kids, 25 YEARS AGO, after Blitzø was bought so that he could be Stolas' "friend" for ONE DAY
Stolas doesn't love Blitzø for Blitzø. Stolas loves the *idea* of Blitzø. The bird man wants to live a romance that is just like the romances in his cheesy novels. He wants to ride into the sunset with his one true love. He wants grand romantic gestures. He wants his "Prince Charming". Except, Blitzø isn't the type of guy for such sappy displays of affection, he never was. Especially combined with his trauma. And as soon as that other imp guy asked him to dance, Stolas not only accepted the offer, but Blitzø was no longer on his mind. And no, I don't think being drunk is proof that Stolas didn't mean what he had told Blitzø. Drunk people find it easier to say what's really on their mind after all
Blitzø fell in love with his abuser. This makes sense, actually. The guy always pushed everyone away and never got to experience true love, and now that he has the chance to be "wanted," even if the "relationship" is toxic, he finds it hard to let it go
As for Catradora, the things I wanna say about this ship have already been said throughout the years, but it all boils down to these things:
Catra mentally, emotionally and physically abused Adora
Catra had no problem ending the whole entire universe if it meant she'd finally be better than Adora
Catra was a war criminal and a fascist
Catra was responsible for what happened to Glimmer's mom and never apologized, let alone faced consequences
Their relationship was toxic even when they were kids
They were both raised by Shadow Weaver and were the only ones in the Horde who saw her as a mother figure, thus making the ship straight up incest, with even the official source material calling them sisters (adoptive siblings ARE REAL SIBLINGS!!!)
Catra got exactly what she wanted in the end (the girl she's always been obsessed with and dependent on) and, once again, faced 0 consequences for her actions
The show (and C//A stans) fetishizes abuse. As a SA survivor, I felt physically sick during the final episode, where the abuser ends up with her victim/sister and they kiss
In short, these ships are disgusting and the lgbt community deserves better representation

glimmadora vs catradora: making mistakes and taking responsibility
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when glimmer hurt adora, adora was allowed to stay mad at glimmer. she was allowed to prioritize her own feelings and not worry about trying to stay on glimmer's good side.
Tumblr media
and when glimmer hurt adora, glimmer took the initiative to try and apologize to adora multiple times. she immediately recognized her mistake and felt terribly guilty for what she said. and while she did initially get annoyed after adora ignored her attempts at apology, she still made sure to properly apologize afterwards.
when catra hurts adora, adora is always the one who has to seek out catra and apologize to her or try to console her. adora was never the one at fault in these scenarios, yet she always had to be the bigger person and disregard her own feelings in favor of catra's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and when catra hurts adora, catra never acknowledges her mistake. she never even looks guilty, let alone try to apologize to adora or make amends. she goes off to sulk because she knows that adora would eventually give in and apologize for something that isn't her fault.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then the one time catra does make the initiative to seek out adora after a fight, this is what she says:
Tumblr media
keep in mind, this was after catra abandoned adora. but sure, glimmadora is toxic.

Ememy Vs. Abuser: Catradora
Disclaimer: Netflix doesn't allow me to take screenshots. I tried to find clips on Youtube but a lot of these are stolen. And an obvious tw for abuse.
Tumblr media
When Catradora antis bring up how Catra abused Adora in seasons 1-4, a lot of people seem to be confused. The go-to defense is the following:
"Catra and Adora were enemies, they were put against each other in many battles. The 'abuse' is just what you'd normally expect from enemies to lovers".
A complelling argument, for sure. How can you expect of Catra to not be violent with someone who was put against her? The answer to this question can be answered through a different question: Why is Catra the abuser? Why not Adora?
What's the difference between an enemy, and an abuser?
1# The aggressor is particularly cruel to their future partner.
Catra doesn't use her claws on real people very often. She mostly uses them on objects or robots (or Shadow Weather's mask).
Tumblr media
At times, it's clear tnat she would gain a lot from using her claws, but she doesn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One might suggest that it's because she understands the full weight of using them. Whatever the case may be, there is a person she doesn't seem to have these reservations about: Adora.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2# Their intreractions contain emotional abuse.
Catra often blames Adora for things that aren't her fault. She's cruel to Adora, deliberately and viciously hurts her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She makes mean spirited remarks and belittles her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, Catra gaslit her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And wouldn't you know it, she takes pride in having control over Adora.
Tumblr media
3# There is no balance.
As we previously established, Catra has no problem being needlessly cruel to Adora. But is Catra in the same danger? It it at least mutually toxic?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not. Adora can fight and defend herself, but won't do more than she needs. Meanwhile, Catra seem to relish in brutalizing her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Further more, moments that could be considered romantic build up in their own, "spicy" way, are positioned with Catra on top, where Adora has no choice but to comply, where she's stuck there.
Tumblr media
4# The aggressor got in the victim's head.
Adora has a guilt complex. That's not a controversial take. She takes too much responsibility and thinks everything is her fault. A lot of this stems from Shadow Weaver, but there's another source.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Adora is very quick to internalize her cruel remarks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Conclusion:
Catra and Adora's relationship can and was abusive during the war. They share specific patterns of abusive relationships even at war zone. Catra hurting Adora isn't all war stuff, it's personal, it's abusive.

(This post was inspired by @spop-romanticizes-abuse) Guys please stop calling Shadow Weaver homophobic. If I were in the show I would agree with her about saying Catra distracts Adora because literally it HAPPENED IN CANON.
Adora literally almost walked off of a platform because an Adora hologram tricked her.
Also Catra has been abusing Adora for 5 seasons straight and even longer in canon.
Also they are sisters why would Shadow Weaver WANT her daughters to date
But heavens forbid that someone doesn't ship the abusive incest couple oh no.

shouldn't Catra x Adora be higher on your problematic list?
[The list]
Nope, Catradora is yellow-tier material! Not even anywhere near the top. Despite what some people might tell you, this pairing is quite tame. Baby's first ship, actually.
SPoP fans who call the ship "abusive" need to keep in mind that Catra and Adora were standard arch-enemies (like something out of Star Wars) when Catra was at her most vicious and vengeful. They weren't in a relationship anymore.
Furthermore, these two didn't become friends-to-lovers until they were back on the same side again. That's when they went back to being in a relationship. And at this point in the story, Catra had redeemed herself. The pairing would have become abusive if her mindset and behavior from her villain arc had transferred over to her official relationship with Adora, but this did not happen. She underwent genuine character development. That's more than can be said for MANY romance novel heroes, if you ask me.

People are so desperate for LGBT representation, (specifically gay and lesbian couples), that they're willing to accept literally any homosexual ship regardless of the concerning elements.
Let's see, we have ass ships like
1)Stolitz - Stolas is an abuser, a r*pist, a racist man who has so many powers yet is emotionally fragile, passive and wimpy, a man who victimizes himself over and over, a man who emotionally neglects the child who desperately needs him for his sexual fantasies with his victim, a man who is the creator's pet, a man whose actions aren't wrong according to the writers, a man who can just blame everyone else around him but himself with no consequences
2) Catradora - Catra is an abuser too, but was treated like a cute kitty cat in s5 despite having done atrocious things, she was instantly forgiven with no consequences, and she ended up dating her sister and the biggest victim of her abuse
3) Huskerdust - I haven't talked about this one so far, but Angel sexually harassed Husk and never apologized, Husk himself sang "Loser, Baby" and as a SA survivor I felt like he was trying to say this to Angel: "Oh, you've hit rock bottom because of SA? It's your fault lol, accept that you're a whiny bitch and a loser even tho the problem is extremely serious and out of your control and just suck it up, I'm a loser too despite not going through the same thing you have, you're not alone in being a loser BUT YOU ARE STILL A LOSER BABYYY A LOOOSER" Like, ik the message was supposed to be how we're not alone in our struggles and how there's always someone who will understand and make us feel less alone, but the way this was handled rubbed me the wrong way. Also, I'm not sure whether or not to mention this as well (screw it, I will), but Husk is described as "the old bartender," his voice sounds like it belongs to an old dude too, and he apparently died when he was like, 70, while Angel died in his 30's. I'm not gonna calculate their ages based on how it works in Hell because personally I feel like it doesn't matter. What matters is how old they were when they were alive. But however you decide to look at their ages, it's not just the implied enormous age gap that bothers me, no... it's more so the difference in maturity between Husk and Angel. Husk is described as a dude who has seen and experienced a lot of stuff. On the other hand, Angel is clearly immature and there is this weird... emotional imbalance between them? It's like a mentor dating his apprentice, at least that's how I see it. I'm not saying dating someone who's 40 years older than you is morally wrong (if you're both adults) but IT IS WEIRD imo, especially since Angel & Husk are not on the same page when it comes to life experience and maturity. Oh yeah, I also don't think Angel should be in any kind of romantic relationship... for his own good

Me ranting about Catra and Catradora:
Tumblr media
Catradora is not a toxic ship. They do not get together till they both figure out their issues. If anything they are a toxic codependent friendship, where they have obvious feelings for each other. But again they do not get together till they both work on their issues. Which hello character development and redemption. Emphasize on the both of them, because Adora has deep issues too that she needs to work on. Catra's issues are rooted in trauma and abuse, its not ok or and exuse for her actions (she goes through learning that the hard way). But its trauma response to that. And dealing with that is not pretty, it's a work in progress, you fail and go back to square one a lot.
What she did went through is basically the same as what Zuko did in Avatar the last Airbender. It's not an excuse on either of them. But everyone seems to hate on Catra more 🙄😒. I wonder why *sarcasm*. The whole point of this rant? Is me just wishing people would stop hating on catra and catradora. The story telling in shera especially where Catra is involved is brilliant and great story telling to me. An amazing redemption and story arc for female character. But what do I know thats just my opinion. I'm not telling people to not dislike Catra or the catradora ship. People are entitled to their opinions. I just wish people would stop calling it toxic. Because it's not.

tw: domestic and parental abuse
i think people underplay how much abuse can affect your worldview sometimes. i'm not just talking about the victims (or at least, the victim who suffered the bulk of the abuse), i'm talking about everyone in that household, especially children.
even if, let's say, a parent is abusive to only one child and is nice to the rest, that doesn't mean this abuse doesn't affect the other children negatively.
for one, it sets a standard that they feel the need to keep up, because the abused child is an "example" and the abuser could turn on the rest of the children at any moment.
secondly, if you've been witnessing this since childhood, you just accept it as normal. you think it's normal for parents to hit their children to "discipline" them or "for their own good". you think it's okay for parents to call their kids worthless or a burden or a waste of space, because that's just what you've been accustomed to. you don't really question it, because you don't know any better.
this is regarding catra stans blaming adora for not protecting catra when she was being abused. which, first of all, adora tried her best, even putting herself in front of catra when shadow weaver was about to hurt her.
secondly, even if adora didn't do that, i wouldn't blame her. she's been seeing this ever since she was an infant. why would she question it if this is the only person close to a parental figure that she's had? how would she know that this isn't what a parent is supposed to act like?
and of course, fans love to forget the fact that adora herself was being emotionally abused by shadow weaver as well. she was a victim too.
it's ridiculous to blame a child for not standing up to her abusive parent when 1. she doesn't know that this is wrong because she's been accustomed to it all her life and 2. SHE'S A CHILD.
"oh adora only cares about random people she just met, she doesn't care about catra" she wouldn't have asked catra to join her if she didn't care. she wouldn't have spent three seasons trying to convince catra to leave her toxic environment.
and how much did catra care about adora? keep in mind, unlike adora, catra knew that the horde was evil and she didn't even mention it to adora, let alone try to do something about it. why is catra allowed to get away with not acting on a problem but adora is villanized for it?
this just further confirms my theory that deep down, c//a stans see catra and adora as sisters. and they expect adora to behave like an older sibling, protecting catra from all harm and essentially becoming her second parent.

the way stans expect adora to be catra's caretaker (or older sister) reminds me of how some ppl demand zuko to take care of azula post-atla, despite the fact she abused and manipulated him. like yeah, it would be nice if zuko and azula could be siblings without their father pitting them against each other, but there's so much baggage here, zuko doesn't owe azula anything. and that also counts for adora and catra.

Just went on the She-Ra tag for I think the first time ever on a whim (show's probably due a rewatch soon). Sure is a lot more screaming at queer kids to kill themselves for daring to like the flagship gay romance than I would have expected. I'm sure it's all in the name of fighting for more positive queer representation in media though.

ThanZag is the Catradora done right
okay, first of all, I haven't been part of the Shera fandom in a while, but I've watched the series several times, other than that I feel like this is something worth pointing out because it could have been the perfect way to have developed the WORST couple of the entire series.
I'm in my phase with Hades from Supergiant, and while I was watching my tenth gameplay, I realized something watching the Interactions of Thanatos and Zagreus, and that is that these two have some similar characteristics to Catradora.
think about it.
1- both were raised by the same maternal figure.
2- They had a relationship of rivalry/friendship since they were children (in Catradora's case "rivalry/friendship")
3-the main drama in the relationship begins when one of the two wants to leave home (although in Catradora's case, there were already GOOD REASONS for wanting to leave before the series).
4-the other member of the relationship has to prevent or try to prevent the other from achieving their goal (although the only thing Thanatos does is try to prevent people from giving supplies to Zagreus, nothing more. He doesn't even fight with him as such. Catra tried to kill Adora several times)
5- this member in specific has mommy issues and a "tsundere" attitude (in Catra's case, she is rather abusive. Than is such a Tsundere that it is difficult for him to express what he feels😅).
6- the protagonist is smarter than they give them credit for, they are considered royalty, they use swords, etc (seriously, what is the need to say that Adora is stupid? Didn't you see the show?)
These are the """"similarities"" that I could find with my sister. but as you can see, there is a BIG difference in execution, and I am going to go into more detail with each one.
1- Zagreus has his own parents, and although he spent his entire life thinking that Nyx was his mother, his dynamic with Thanatos was never of siblings and he always referred to him as a childhood friend. It wasn't until the Events of the game (when he wants to find his biological mother, Persephone) that you can have the option to fall in love with and romance Thanatos(and You can just select to do a friendly route).
Aside from it being implied in the game that while Zagreus gets along with Nyx's children, he did not grow up with them. and that Nyx raised him more like a Nanny, or that she left her children aside to take care of him. I mean, they didn't grow up as part of the same family. Nyx was not a mother figure to all of her children.
Not only did Catra and Adora never refer to themselves as childhood friends, but they had a TOO close relationship with the SAME mother figure, even if they were adopted, they are still sisters having GROWN UP TOGETHER.
and it's worse when you see in the OFFICIAL ART that they refer to Catra as ADORA'S SISTER. EVEN THEIR VOICE ACTORS.
2- The friendship and rivalry of Thanatos and Zagreus was nothing more than a friendly and healthy competition for mutual fun, apart from the fact that whether they win or lose, they congratulate and RECOGNIZE each other's qualities. They are not merely hostile simply because they are competing. Even when Zagreus fails an escape attempt or beats him, Thanatos isn't really mean or insults him. The most closet thing to hostile of Thanatos that we got is when he tries to kill all the creatures to show off to Zagreus(and don't get him Killed) and, most likely, when he scold him for saying that Persephone is the only mother he has, disrespscting Nyx(who raised him).
Catra and Adora on the other hand are the complete opposite, Catra always ALWAYS finds a moment to tell Adora that "she's an idiot", the first thing she tells her is that "she looks ridiculous", that "she's crazy", she puts her down and she constantly makes fun of her to make herself feel better.
3-Zagrues wants to leave the Underworld because he discovers that his mother could be on the surface, apart from the fact that his relationship with his father is quite bad because of this since Hades does not want him to leave, treating him badly and taking out his frustrations on him. and although Zagreus throughout the game understands the consequences and all the good things he leaves behind for wanting to go after his mother, no one (besides Hades) expects him to change his mind. Even if Thatanos wants Zagreus to stay WILINGLY(bc that makes HIM happy)he dosen't force His ideas on him.
Adora decides to leave the Horde because she realizes the horrible damage they do to Etheria, also leaving her toxic adoptive mother and Catra (her even more toxic sister/"friend"), but is constantly called selfish by Catra for leaving and "leaving her" BUT in turn, she herself does not want to go with Adora.
They both essentially want to leave their toxic environment, it's just that one has a circle of support and Adora has, unfortunately, Catra, who hopes that Adora will remain miserable in the cycle of abuse that SHE created.
4- Thanatos has direct orders to try to prevent Zagreus from leaving the Underworld, however the "fights" with him are usually short-lived, apart from giving Zagreus things like life and coins if he kills more monsters than him or they tie. Thanatos makes no REAL effort to stop Zagreus. He's just bitter that he left without saying goodbye. that's all. children's fights. that after a while they pass and return to their normal dynamics. healthy.
Catra is on the opposite side of Adora in a war, however she shows no problem being especially sadistic and enjoys hurting Adora when they fight. She WANTS to hurt her. She WANTS to beat her and prevent her from archiving her goal no matter how much it makes her miserable. she does not care.
5- We don't have much idea of what the relationship between Nyx and Thanatos was like, but Nyx seems to have played the role of mother mostly to Zagreus over her own children (either by will or by orders from Hades) and it could also be that Thanks to this little guidance, Thanatos does not know how to adequately express how he feels about Zagreus or his departure. but still respects his decision.
Catra grew up with an abusive mother who pushed her aside to favor Adora, generating this "love"-hate dynamic towards her and causing her to only show "interest" or attention towards her by lowering her to her level, either by insults, violence, manipulation, etc. More than a Tsundere, she is a sociopath.
6- Zagreus is a very good fighter, who knows how to take advantage of the blessings that his relatives have and that in the story of the game he manages to leave the Underworld several times to reunite with his mother (having to fight with his father MANY times) and even helps to fix the family dynamics between his family and Olympus (because more than a toxic family, they count more as a dysfunctional family. but not without repair).
Nobody denies these merits to Zagreus. much less Thanatos or Megaera (another romantic interest to which I may dedicate another post because I love her).
Adora is literally SHERA, the legendary warrior, she has commanded several attacks against the Horde, she commanded the rebellion at some point, she is a great warrior even without Shera, she guided rescue missions, she saved the Horde Prime universe, etc.
and yet Catra continues to consider her an idiot just like the fandom....
As you can see, the similarities these ships share are no bigger than their writing gaps, and it's SAD to think we could have had something like ThanZag in Shera, because they are proof that it COULD work, but the creator's fetishes They got in the way.
all this without talking about the ROMANTIZATION that the Catradora has! It's repulsive how people (and especially the creators) can really see this pair as something romantic!
THEY ARE SISTERS.. THEY ARE ENEMIES..GROSS
ahggg I already went too far writing. This was supposed to be shorter but I expanded, I hope you like the product of my suffering. and ThanZag forever.
