I'm almost afraid to ask, but... when are we going to acknowledge that there’s no actual evidence Sirius Black was physically abused in canon?
It’s become so common in fan spaces to treat it like an indisputable fact that Walburga and Orion were regularly using Crucio on their teenage son - as if that wouldn’t have literally landed them both in Azkaban for life.
Yes, I understand that abusive people don’t care about legality - but the level of violence some fanon depictions of the Blacks reach is so extreme, it starts to feel disconnected from the characters entirely. We're not just talking about toxic parenting anymore - we’re talking about full-blown war crimes happening in a family home.
It doesn’t always sit right with me as a survivor of abuse myself - this unspoken implication that the only kind of abuse that really "counts" is physical abuse. That unless Sirius was tortured to the brink of death, the trauma he endured doesn’t feel valid enough to explore. As if emotional abuse isn’t already damaging, isolating, and deeply formative.
Canon gives us plenty to work with.
Sirius calls his family unpleasant and describes being seen as the "bad" son for rejecting their ideals, while Regulus was the "perfect" one - classic emotional abuse: scapegoat vs golden child. He talks about his home as being dark and miserable, and he actively rebelled against his parent's pureblood beliefs just to spite them.
This all clearly points to psychological abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect - but there’s no mention of physical abuse, and there doesn't need to be.
Walburga, especially, is a textbook example of a verbally and psychologically abusive parent - the way her portrait rages with such intensity, the language she uses, the way she made Sirius feel othered and lesser. That’s already serious trauma.
If the physical abuse is part of your headcanon - go for it.
Ultimately, this is fiction - it’s a sandbox, and everyone should feel free to build the version of the story that speaks to them. Honestly, I think it’s totally plausible that there was some element of physical abuse involved, and I’ve written Sirius that way myself, more than once. I will again - I completely understand why some people love the idea of Sirius falling out of the Potters' fireplace half-dead.
But that's just one possibility.
When that headcanon becomes so dominant in fandom spaces that any deviation from it is met with resistance - that's when it becomes slightly frustrating. Especially in roleplay, where that collaborative, "yes, and…" approach is key to keeping a scene alive. If tortured!Sirius is the only headcanon people are willing to engage with, it makes it nearly impossible to explore different dynamics, motivations, or emotional arcs.
The dominance of that headcanon doesn’t just flatten his story - it shuts down the nuance of the entire Black family dynamic. If we take it as given that Walburga and Orion were literally torturing their son, then how do we make sense of Regulus staying? How do we explore complex family loyalties, internalised ideology, or the slow erosion of self that happens in environments like that? It reduces the entire family to caricature, and removes any space to write meaningful conflict, guilt, or generational trauma.
The truth is, the Blacks were awful - but they were also interesting. Shades of grey exist, and fiction is a perfectly safe place to explore that. Sirius himself summed this up with "...the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters..." and it would be incredibly dull if things were so black and white.
Sirius, canonically, pushed back. He rebelled. He resisted. His bedroom alone tells you everything you need to know about who he was and what he was up against. That kind of defiance in the face of psychological control, suffocating expectations, and constant verbal degradation is real. It is damaging. It is abuse.
We don’t need to crank it up to cartoon villain levels of torture to take it seriously.
I think it’s important to remember that the Blacks were oppressive bigots hiding behind respectability - not open criminals. Walburga and Orion didn’t join the Death Eaters; they just quietly subscribed to the same hateful ideology. And honestly, that’s what makes them so terrifying. It’s also part of what cost them Regulus - but that’s a rant for another day.
They weren’t the type to take bold, visible action, even in support of the cause they believed in. So the idea that they were secretly committing acts of illegal, mind-destroying torture on their own children should be a huge leap - a leap which, in my opinion, should be considered an AU, rather a widely accepted fact.
Anyway - live and let live, it's fiction, none of it really matters anyway.

Heyyyy! I have a question about the au: Do they still have the same interests as they do in the comics? Or are their interests completely different?
Yap incoming, lolol
The OGs and the Gen Z have different interests due to the eras they grew up in.
Growing up in the 90s, the OG likely discovered their passions through friends talking about it or visiting comic book shops. That's why they're into mostly nerdy stuff. Back then, the internet wasn't as big, so word-of-mouth and local shops were the main ways to learn about dominant media, and god knows how pretentious those starwars and Marvel fans back then were.
Gen Z, on the other hand, were introduced to the world through the internet from a young age. This exposed them to different "sections" or categories of interests. The web has made it easier than ever to find information on any topic imaginable, so their tastes are more diverse.
Back when YouTube was just taking off, the content was much more niche and community-focused. People mostly uploaded personal vlogs, funny skits, gossip, and hobby-related content. During that time, I feel Bill's a big fan of Pewdiepie in his teen years, I know he's more popular as a gaming channel but he's also an anime fan, i remmembered he does fanfics reading, so Pewdiepie is probably the one that introduces Bill to shounen anime and fanfics reading. Then, it branches to Bill checking out opinionated channels, anime reviews, and #dramaalert. (Micro yap. Not only this, but ofc he's into forums, trolling, and negative sides of internet)
Pete doesn't really get or care much about fandom stuff, mainly because he comes from a big, mostly offline family. Chances are, he'd feel embarrassed if his brothers caught him watching to something like a Konata Kirby remix. Growing up, cartoons and anime were often seen as shows for weird kids, so Pete avoided them to fit in. Instead, he kept up with celebrity gossip and drama, saving stuff to brag the things he found. Like, leaked contents of some popular people to his big brothers to look cool and edgy. He'd probably check websites like Perez Hilton or StickyDrama. The more borderline illegal they are, the better (Micro yap... StickyDrama was such a hellhole of those popular bitchy emo teens, yknow how looks are just everything? I feel like this is how he develops interest in anorexic people). Bonus points on sites where he can interact with big guys and creators in real time.
These days, when something big happens, like Kanye West abandoned his pills for the week and post those Twitter tweets, Pete and Bill definitely immediately talk about it. They probably live stream calls on Discord and chuckle about it.
Joshie was an autistic child (still autistic tho) who has intense hyperfixation with kid's cartoons, books, and art. (Micro yap.. . .. . She also develops interest in warrior cats, homestuck, etc) She spends countless hours indulging in these media and creating her own fanwork (fanfictions mostly, she's not confident in her artworks) inspired by it. When she first gets online, she's mostly active on platforms like DeviantArt and Tumblr. She doesn't care about much else beyond these websites and forums. Joshie's knowledge is limited to the politics and discussions happening within these online spaces; shipping wars, diversity debates, and some conversations about mental health. She can talk for hours about these topics but struggles to name more than a few U.S. presidents.
Jerry is into anime, shows, and enjoys drawing in his free time. While he has these interests, he doesn't let them consume his life or take things too seriously. Jerry stays well-informed about what's happening in the world. He's not some shut-in or recluse. Jerry is about as socially normal and well-adjusted as they come. One thing he really loves is memes and hanging out with out-of-pocket eccentric people who keep him entertained in his dull life.

I know we're all real big "read the comics" fans here but, considering the show is now 32 years old and many people in the Batman fandom might not know about it -
if you do not want to read the comics, might I recommend the massively acclaimed Batman animated series from the 90s instead?
Tumblr media
Seriously, room-temperature take: it's better than what was going on in the comics at the time.
DCAU Batman: kind, empathetic but still troubled and a little self-centered at times. He understands even scary dangerous mentally ill people are not beyond help and that what they really need is support and care. He actively tries to resolve every conflict with a minimal of violence and brutality, with stories often focusing on detective work in a pulpy noir atmosphere, or the clever use of a tactic relevant to a bad man's gimmick. Every character is consistent and has a clear, coherent vision. There is exactly one profoundly stupid retcon and it's in an extremely skippable bottle episode of another show (Justice League Unlimited, and the retcon relates to Batman Beyond, the Wise Man's Favourite Batman). Respects women (here to take back the night, for her). Loves his gay sons and daughter. Does not turn his car into a murder tank to shoot people with.
90s comics Batman: violent asshole who is mean to everybody because idk Denny O'Neil thinks that's what autism or PTSD or whatever is. Makes absurdly stupid fucking decisions that later need to be retconned into making sense and even then they rely on everybody else being an inconsistent nonsense character. Launches into monologues about how it'd be super easy if he could just kill people, especially those incurable freak scoundrels at the crazy people prison more often than you would think. Truly horribly mean to women (Huntress and Spoiler especially) in a way that is simply beyond the norm of the genre at the time. Relentlessly weird and abusive in "my dad never hugged me" ways toward his ever-growing collection of sometimes dead children. Constantly turning his car into a murder tank to shoot people with.
This show is not an adaptation of the comics (though some individual issues are adapted or reworked), but if you just specify you're writing about or discussing DCAU Batman, people are pretty chill and in my experience will actively tell you about specific issues or TPBs that relate to the show. Other than that, it's just an extremely solid, accessible version of Batman, and the version of the character most people remember / care about when they criticize mean asshole comic book Batman for being "out of character" (even though comic book Batman has kinda sorta been that way since Crisis).
The same is basically true of Superman. His DCAU series has less of a reputation but is honestly crazy underrated. Best version of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen.
The Justice League cartoon, a sequel to both series, will also introduce you to a bunch of mainstay DC characters, albeit usually pretty far-removed from their own stories and exclusively in a team context. The only major outliers are The Question, Wonder Woman (kinda) and Martian Manhunter, who were basically 100% rewritten for the show. Even then if you just specify you mean the DCAU versions of these characters people will get it, the shows used to be more popular than the comics in the 90s.
This will also sneakily onboard you to the Zeta Project and you will learn, albeit indirectly, who the most insufferable kids in like 2002 were. Seriously, I sound insane telling children this now, but Ro's design was like... the rosetta stone for shit Deviantart anime OCs for a whole five years or so.
Tumblr media
The watching order I'd recommend is:
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.
Batman: The Animated Series.
Superman: The Animated Series.
Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero.
The New Batman Adventures.
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.
Justice League.
Justice League Unlimited.
Batman Beyond.
Batman: Return of the Joker (the only Tim Drake story I like lol).
The Zeta Project (severely optional).
I'd place Static Shock somewhere before Justice League Unlimited, personally, but you can move that one around as you please. There's some jank to it because it wasn't originally going to be part of the DCAU, but then come season two they started incorporating little crossovers and nods.
Batman & Harley Quinn and Justice League vs. the Furious Five are also in continuity but I pretend I do not see the Harley Quinn farts in the batmobile and fucks Nightwing movie, and have not actually seen the Furious Five movie.
Easy, simple, no fuss no muss. Batman is the only character to appear in every single show (albeit not every episode, obviously), so he serves as kind of a connecting throughline for the "Timmverse."
A lot of these shows are on Netflix and I mean, y'know, just pirate them, it's not like Warner Bros. needs more money lol.
Other recommendations:
Super Friends - no bullshit. It's aged pretty horribly, especially the animation, but I kid you not, this show genuinely captures what golden age superhero stories and especially Batman feels like. Not at all remotely character-driven (but neither were 90% of the comics), instead centered 100% around very badly animated action. I fucking love it. It will teach you how the idea of Batman worked before he was Gotham's dark moody emo prince. I don't recommend watching all of Super Friends, there is a lot of it, but there's value in just blasting through a couple eps. The benefit here is that they tinker with the format and line-up every season so if you do find yourself enjoying that 1970s American cartoon style of storytelling, they do keep it kind of fresh.
The Batman - that is, the 2004 series. Hated on arrival for not being more Timmverse DCAU stuff. Some of the most creative direction in villain and action design the franchise has ever had, but like, everybody in this show is a kung fu fighter when that is extremely not the case in the comics lol. Will demonstrate Batman as a pulp scifi detective, and how his stories can work when he's an isolated character. Plays hard into the idea of empathy for some villains, and provides most villains with pretty human motives. Downplays Batman as mentally ill and makes his Bruce Wayne persona, uh... more "relatable" to kids in the mid-2000s lol. Doesn't really supplement comic book canon but if you want to see how concepts can be stretched and adapted for fanfiction purposes, this is an invaluable show.
Batman - The Brave & The Bold. Captures the vibe of the wider DC universe during the 1950s - 1970s, with a lot of fun modern characters reworked into a silver age vibe and aesthetic. Very lighthearted and silly, but feels like if Gardner Fox were around today he'd fuck with it hard. Not a replacement for comics that people actually read and discuss in the tumblr fandom, but will introduce you to a range of characters, some of whom are actually pretty obscure, in an extremely digestible format. Has a bad, Teen Titans Go esque habit of responding to reddit fan criticisms in the Bat-Mite episodes, but those are paradoxically some of the most solid shit in the show.

Some thoughts have been simmering in my mind and my Twitter is a bit much to be saying all of this so I thought I’d share it here :3
For a while I was a bit iffy on more bad things happening to Green just because they were not in a state at all to fight back or be silly and evil and it was just all memory loss and depression 😭. But now that we’re back on our feet I’m so down for the back and forth starting again. We need more silly stupid pranks, and cartoon villain shinanigans. And I’m not just talking about from Green Faction, I think Yellow and Blue and even Orange should get in on this as well :3c ! I Miss stuff like the honey incident and the bridge war, we need a lot more of that. I love the more serious conflict too, but I think the more light hearted side of things is good for the health of the vibes on the server and the fandom as a whole tbh. I saw some one posting about how they were frustrated irl about the Yellow Castle being greifed with sand and I was a little surprised ngl because I thought it was just all silly vibes but if you feel a bit frustrated that’s fine! My suggestion however, is why dosent yellow take this as an opportunity to grief Green CastlešŸ‘€? Like come on it would be so funny and tons of them have Nirvana they could get it done real quick and it would be a fun faction bonding activity :) . Genuinely After the Blender explosion and this with yellow castle I’m so serious when I say I think it’s about time that Yellow gets to be silly back. PLEASEEEE, start scheming!! Place snow all over the Cathedral! Take a Green faction member to Court over Damages! Place signs all over the spirit Halloween! Get Revenge for the blender explosion >:)
I just want more silly conflict on the server, and I hate to see green / yellow faction beef amongst fans. I may be a strong green faction main but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love Ros, Pili and Zams POVs. I think the varying perspectives is what makes the server so fun to watch. I know the long length of vods makes watching multiple POVs near impossible at times but I do genuinely encourage ppl to watch an opposing sides pov when you get the chance, it adds more depth to the story and makes things a lot more fun to watch in my opinion.
( And also just as a general reminder don’t get to concerned about stuff outside of rp, if there’s a genuine issue on the server between CCs they can talk it out and handle it themselvesšŸ‘šŸ¾āœØ)
But yeah more silly shenanigans and pranks and dumb arcs now that everyone is alive and … somewhat well šŸ˜šŸ™šŸ¾, plz and thank you šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø. Also I heard somewhere that tr!Beky had make a court house šŸ‘€, I’m so serious when I say that I want a Court Case arc, plz it would be so funny, I need to see tr!Lukey become Green Factions Lawyer while tr!Pangi and tr!Bad make defending their cases absolutely impossible. And I know tr!Zam would give a FIRE and hilarious speech in Court, not to mention all the objections and Witness testimony’s. With tr!Beky as the unbiased judge, god it would be so perfect šŸ™šŸ¾āœØšŸ˜. I need it BAD.
Ok that’s all! I just needed to get that off my chest, I hope some one understands what I’m talking about😭, but if you disagree that’s completely fine too, it’s all pixels at the end of the day :) šŸ‘šŸ¾āœØ
Time to work on assignments all night LOL.

Grim's Toon Origins
Tumblr media
The toons fandom is pretty strong, especially on here (I’m not an active participant exactly, but I’m liking and reblogging when I feel like it). They mostly focus on toons, black and white cartoons from the 20’s through the color cartoons of the modern day (think cartoons with exaggerated features who act in exaggerated or silly ways rather than trying to emulate real life and real physics) from every studio. The origin of the name probably came from Looney Tunes (tunes as in music, but it is also a pun on toons) and Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the book it was based on certainly helped popularize it. Toon isn't Disney specific, of course, but the studio created one of the most iconic toons to date, Mickey Mouse, so there’s a lot of old Disney floating around the fandom.Ā
I saw one particular Disney toon piece of fan art recently which basically gave me an epiphany and made me feel silly considering this game has been out for 5 years and I’ve only just made this connection:Ā
One of Grim’s influences could very well be the oldest named Disney toon of all.Ā
More theory under the cut.Ā
Back when I did most of my character analysis and general twst meta discussions on TikTok, I talked briefly about some Haunted Mansion elements that reminded me of Ramshackle and Grim specifically.Ā Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For one, his name is Grim, part of the Haunted Mansion’s theme song, Grim Grinning Ghosts. I also connected him to the one-eyed cat, an old Haunted Masion concept that would have a main antagonist of the ride. The cat would stalk the guests as they traveled through the mansion after being warned by the Ghost Host early on. While a statue of the cat currently exists in the Disneyland Haunted Mansion, the concept was scrapped, so it would be a general deep cut if it had any influence on Grim himself. Though we all have been waiting for Grim’s inevitable overblot, so the whole ā€œenemy has been with you the whole timeā€ narrative still works.Ā
To be honest, my first thought when I saw a cat companion in a game called Twisted Wonderland was that he was a reference to Dinah, the titular character’s cat in Alice in Wonderland. Grim looks enough like Disney’s version of the character with a similar bow tied around his neck. This is probably the most likely case, but it not as fun as the newest theory that’s crossed my mind. Because Dinah isn’t the first cat to be associated with a Disney Alice.Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Alice Comedies were a series of shorts created by Walt Disney and the Disney Bros Studio. The rights and distribution were under Winkler Pictures who would eventually commission the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons from Walt’s crew for Universal. The shorts all featured a novel idea: putting a human Alice in a cartoon Wonderland. In the first short, Alice’s Wonderland, a little girl named Alice visits the Disney Bros Studio to watch Walt and his crew make cartoons. The cartoons come to life on the cartoonist’s pages and Alice is so delighted by what she sees, she dreams that she’s in a cartoon wonderland that night. It was revolutionary technology at the time that’s not exactly groundbreaking today, but this and the other Alice Comedies are very cute. (Most of the shorts are available on YouTube! You can find Alice's Wonderland here. As a note, if things look familiar, it's because Alice Comedies were used as inspiration for the Babes in the Wood episode of Over the Garden Wall!)Ā
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In most of these shorts, there is a cartoon cat. Black and white cats were common early toons and one particular design showed up often in Walt Disney’s earlier work at Laugh-O-Gram Studios which continued onto the Alice Comedies. This cat was named Julius. He was originally created to be a Felix the Cat clone due to some inter studio fighting, but he stands on his own as a character over time. Some people who know Oswald call him the prototype Mickey Mouse, but Julius was the actual blueprint. In the Alice Comedies he’s feisty and often fights bad guys for Alice (including the original Peg Leg Pete who was a bear at the time). He enjoys messing around with other characters for fun but is always loyal to Alice at the end of the day. He’s a lot like Grim in those respects, especially over time when he starts viewing Yuu as less of a henchman and more like family.Ā
When I see the original Alice Comedies and compare them to Twisted Wonderland, I can’t help but see the similarities in their concepts: A normal human girl goes to a magic animated world in a fantastic dream where she’s joined by her silly talking cat and they experience adventure and perils along the way. This is definitely a deep cut, but I’d like to think that these shorts had some influence on Twisted Wonderland in its early development, even if very few elements of the original story stayed. Plus, it’s nice to imagine that our Grim is a link to the very beginning of Disney animation which inspired this whole game in the first place.Ā

pet peeves regarding catwoman comics
giving her the dialogue of an actual cat, talking about her like she's just a sex object (actually that's just in general for both creators and fandom, why is the only thing you can talk about wrt her and bruce being "pegging" and "being freaks" they have sm other stuff going on.....), giving her stupid filler arcs to sell variants, not acknowledging that she has a good rl with the batfamily, making her out to be a one dimensional femme fatale who hates kids and does nothing but crime, calling her a lesbian who hangs out with gcs for no (or worse, sexual) reasons (selina needs actual motivations to want to tolerate ivy and harley's presence), not acknowledging that selina's hyperindependence is a weakness and detracts from her as much as she values her freedom, not allowing her complexity of character flaws such as selfishness or alternately making her out to be wholly villainous and incapable of possessing real human motivation for her criminal activity, using black and white logic with her motivations and making steal her solely out for thrills or kleptomania (dont use those cartoons as source material for her character) etc etc.

"All art is political"
No the fuck it's not. Art for the sake of art/decoration/love of subject, has always been the majority. Fanartists aren't drawing political cartoons. They're drawing they're favorites doing beach episodes and riding go-carts and getting fucked stupid and everything in between. Nothing about that is freaking political. Nor should it be. Fandom is an escape, not activism.
As far as representation goes: this is the most America/west centric view, istg
the things mentioned are shown, but by dint of proportionality will always be in the minority. Because people with X handicap or LGBT, are the minority in the US and EU.
Asians are 6% of the country, and less if you split it by east/west/south Asian communities. 13% of the population is Black, just under 20% Hispanic, and about 2% Native. Of course there's going to be less of them in media.
It wasn't political until people politicized it. Some of the top earning actors and comedians in the 90s were black. Some of the most popular shows had 50-90% Black casts. Children's shows with real and animated casts were diverse as all hell with race and ability differences just accepted and spoken about normally and explained in ways kids easily understood and accepted and Literally No On questioned it outside of people that were rightfully considered crazy fundies.
Then the 2010s happened and someone decided it had to be freaking highlighted and made into a big deal and all of a sudden it's an issue when before it never was.
There is a ton of media out there with Latinos and Asians and every other group you can think of. They're just in different languages. Because the world doesn't stop at American/European TV. Branch out. Show the execs you don't want an empty check box character, but actual stories like They're doing overseas. Because that's what will get things shifted, not just demanding X media needs Y type of person just because, especially not when changing the race or sex or ability of a character would actively change the character and the story because they're a whole different person and will have different history and perceptions that will by default change the narrative.
Posting as a response to a previous problem.

These people....just....
I think everything this fandom or viv does had already reached a point where it isn't even funny to point all the stuff they do and say that are wrong or the many times they gaslight themselves or attemp to do so to others...
What will be the last straw for everyone to realize how far the have gone? Because let's recap that this fandom and viv actively ignore that:
-People DIED
-fans are getting worringly delulu over SA/what counts and what not
-People were scammed.
-people were silenced
-multiple cases of vandalism
-Real cases of people doxxing others over a cartoon
-people harassing others and sending death threats over....a cartoon
-children being encouraged to consume this adult stuff and parents doing nothing
-vivzie being a total jerk and the fandom sucking it up with the lamest justifications ever.
-Work abuse
-Literal transphobia, aphobia, homophobia, misoginy from the fandom and viv
What's left to happen for the fandom to finally admit that stuff got out of hand?? I can't even joke by thinking that deaths may open their eyes and crack those pink glasses because....it DID happen and it still hasn't been aknowledged openly
This is not funny, this is not cringe, this got to the point of being purely scary to imagine what may be the next crime this crazy standom has yet to push under the rug....
-Midnight anon
I wish I could say that I had faith in the diehard fans to draw a line somewhere, but I sincerely don't think they have one. Viv could go on a killing spree and admit to it and they'd say the haters drove her to do it, and god, I wish I were exaggerating.

Most kinds of media is ok, like tv show/movie/book/game etc.
No real people, I recommend @rpfshippingpolls for that. No dsmp-styled mcyt characters either.
Incestuous ships, ships between adults and minors, normal characters x loli/shota are not allowed. Inappropriate age gaps may also disqualify a ship if it's like 11 y/o with 16 y/o. I think using common sense is enough.
Feel free to ask if you are unsure of anything.
Banned fandoms:
Harry Potter, Hazbin/Helluva, Gushing over magical girls, usually mcyt

Whenever I see the "there is no F/F content in fandoms, fandoms hate women" discussion on Tumblr, all I can think of is a phrase that is guaranteed to enrage half the Tumblr fandom audience, maybe more: "Have you tried imageboards?".
When I was younger, I used to frequent different anime and cartoon-themed imageboards. Big ones like 4Chan's /a/ and /co/, smaller ones meant for specific fandoms or kinks, non-English ones in my native language, you name it. The users were mostly straight men, and the F/F content and shipping flourished there. The "waifu threads" exclusively dedicated to gushing about female blorbos. The wast majority of kink content involving fictional women, either alone, with a nondescript self-insert man or with each other. The F/F fanart, fanfiction and ideas were just limitless, to the point where you would struggle to find one or two discussions about the guys in the midst of everyone celebrating the women.
The anime, cartoon or comic has a cast full of women? They will all get love. Women and men both? Women will generate much more discussion. One or two women amidst the cast full of men? People will mostly post about the two women, deal with it. Sure, there were designated boards and threads for the male characters, but good luck expecting there to be as much activity as there were in the waifu threads. The fandoms with lots of female characters, such as Touhou Project, thrived on these grounds, and much F/F shipping was had by everyone.
Now, of course, the imageboard culture is an entire separate beast. Right-leaning, edgy, bigoted - basically, what you get if you put a bunch of ostracized and lonely cishet male nerds in an echo chamber and let them feed each other bullshit all day long. A lot of the F/F art they made was sexual in nature, something that could be decried as sexualisation, but, the way I remember it, it was not much different from what is often done to male characters by straight women who ship M/M because they find the two dudes hot. A lot of gushing about waifus by the anonymous 4Chan dudes could be seen as misogynistic, despite the language being practically the same as when a Tumblr fandom girl is describing her blorboman and the things she wants to see done to him.
It all comes down to the the real life influencing the way we interact with fiction: male sexuality is viewed in a different light than female sexuality, despite both being more or less demonized in our society, just in different ways. Men are always predators, women are always victims. When a guy has sexual fantasies about a female character, he is a creep who wants to hurt real life women to enact these fantasies. When a woman has sexual fantasies about male characters, she cannot tell fiction from reality and is at risk of getting hurt by men while trying to enact these fantasies. And if either of them fantasizes about a same-sex couple, they are fetishizing queer people, obviously.
However, that's just how people roll - you cannot change what gender you are attracted to, and people with similar attractions stick together. It just so happens that the fandom side of Tumblr largely consists of straight women and queer men, so you get ships with guys, while the fandom side of 4Chan and the like largely consists of straight men, so you get ships with women. Both sides also happen to have cultures that don't mix well, and someone who frequents one place is likely to avoid the other.
I don't frequent 4Chan anymore, and I'm not big on fandom Tumblr, either, but Tumblr continues to be the unique place where I am more likely to stumble upon erotic fandom content featuring men than women, who are the majorly discussed and shipped characters practically everywhere else. I obviously do not excuse 4Chan's bigotry and rampant hateful bullshit, but my point still stands: if you want to see more F/F shipping and discussions of girl blorbos, but don't feel like making some yourself and creating a like-minded community on Tumblr, you should try your luck elsewhere on the Internet, especially when it comes to anime and cape comic fandoms. Tumblr is a unique place in terms of male-centric fandom content, and honestly, it's not that bad, if Tumblr isn't the only place you find your stuff at. It simply occupies a specific niche and doesn't offer much of everything else (though you can still find it if you look).
--
Now, be fair: plenty of imageboards are full of nominally straight guys who love millions of female blorbos... and art of Link getting wrecked.

Alright this is starting to wear me out at this point and I want to say a few things ONCE. And I hope I never need to repeat them whatsoever.
1. "The Kinger Discourse" wasn't about Kinger at all. I don't know why you all gripped onto that chess piece (/pos) like y'all's lives depend on it but it wasn't about him or anyone's takes on him. Like, whatsoever and at all.
I will say it once more to make sure the people at the back hear this:
The Kinger Discourse was NOT ABOUT KINGER OR THE FANDOM INTERPRETATIONS OF HIM.
That whole drama happened because of Midnight's lack of respect towards her peers and her constant condescending and victimizing behavior. To point at the Kinger Discourse like it has a bigger importance to it IS NAILING IT DOWN TO PEOPLE WHO ARE VICTIMS SUCH AS DISTANT, BACKTOTHEDRAWINGBOARD AND SO MANY OTHERS THAT WERE CAUGHT IN THE CROSS FIRE. THEY HAVE NOTHING.
NOTHING.
TO DO WITH THIS AT ALL.
THE KINGER DISCOURSE IS A RED HERRING, PLEASE LOOK AT THE REAL ISSUE.
2. Midnight never apologized. She simply walked her pretty ass into Distant's ask box and said "I forgive YOU" as if she was a damn cartoon villain that has a witty attitude. After mistreating, disrespecting and blatantly disregarding Distant she had the AUDACITY to say SHE FORGAVE DISTANT.
AND DISTANT DID NOTHING WRONG.
3. Returning to the first point as an addendum, this was not the first time me or my girlfriend stepped up to try and kick Midnight off her high horse because she had an history of doing so with other people. Including US in the past. This time was simply the worst of them all and the two of us decided to, once again, step into the discussion.
We were the ones who did the ACTIVE role of this entire fucking drama and everyone else (or at the VERY LEAST, most of them) were merely either carried away or dragged into the mess.
But, AGAIN, IT WAS NOT ABOUT KINGER. IT WAS NOT A DISCOURSE ABOUT KINGER. IT WAS ABOUT RESPECT IN FANDOM SPACES AND HOW MIDNIGHT FAILED IN EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF IT, CREATING A TOXIC ENVIRONMENT THAT WILL BE HERE FOR A WHILE STILL.
Now please, for all that is good and in the name of the good Yeshuah stop relating this to Kinger because it is in one way or another making it seem like it was about the discussion of the character and it is definitely making the victims even more stressed out than they already are.
This is hopefully the last time I talk about this because all of us are exhausted and all of us deserve to let this rest. I just couldn't keep seeing these things circulating and distracting us from the real issue at play.
Like god damn it do I have to do everything on my own in this hellhole of a website!? The drama script is right there!!! The juiciest drama of the year, guys, and all of you are glossing over the important finesse!!!! /LHJ (to end in a not so bad note)

Hello! Supa strikas has always been one of my favorite cartoons and there is not enough talk about this fandom (definitely a fandom with more potential in my opinion) and the characters Headcons I have read your writing and they are all very nice. I was wondering if I could make a request. If you are not in any negative situation Can you make a hc about Twister Tiger?

Hope u don't mind another perspective about the spit scene, but I actually saw the reddit comment that kickstarted this discussion. It was a deeply annoying argument (that was left on a post about aku/bloss of all things??) to the point I actually left a long reply before thinking better of it n just deleting and blocking
Just for reference, in response to someone disagreeing, they asserted something along the lines of "He's still holding her down and violating her using fluid from his body, it's WEIRD that you're ignoring that just to ship them" and that level of stretching words just. Did not signal a productive conversation to come
I really feel like people want to overcorrect for the early portrayal of the boys by the fandom (made up of mostly children, who obviously would not have known how to write a character) by like... treating them as adult men almost? It's super weird because they always end up using extremely specific, modern types of adult misogynist (like cryptobros or Andrew Tate) to illustrate their point regardless of how little sense it makes for their canon personalities
I also think people conveniently forget what kind of show they're watching sometimes because PPG is still like, a kid's cartoon where the MC's have superpowers. Everything the girls do are normal kid activities cranked to 11 because they're superhuman, and when I look at it from that lens then the boys' episodes really don't strike me as very sinister largely bc they're all just kids on an even playing field (obviously the dynamic was really lopsided for most of TBABIT, but even then I mean. We already discussed how the girls retaliated)
Idk maybe I'm biased but it's kind of obvious that the boys are super archetypal snot-nosed, sexist brats and ime, characters like that pretty much always grew out of it. Like if the girls could destroy the entire town for no good reason more than once, Harry Pitt could pull what he did in the cooties episode, and Mitch could torture a hamster without being considered monsters for it, then realistically there's ample hope left for the RRB (and even if there wasn't, I don't think just projecting the worst guy anyone has ever met onto them is guaranteed to fit their characters, but I digress)
Also to be real I don't think people take the boys' actions as seriously as they make it sound a lot of the time. Like if we're going by their logic, then it should also be questionable to portray them as friends or close siblings to the girls, but I've never seen pushback against this idea off the basis that the boys have hurt them too badly in the past. It's pretty much always leveraged against ship content, which makes me think concern about the boys' characters aren't what's actually driving this criticism, but that's just me
1000000% brother this is not my first rodeo I had a feeling thats what was happening. To demonize a ship to uplift their own favorite ship people will pull out anything and everything to misconstrue the shows intention
