THE 7-RUNGED LADDER OF THE MYSTERIES
A symbol of progressive advancement from a lower to a higher sphere, which is common to Freemasonry and to many, if not all, of the Ancient Mysteries. In each, generally, as in Freemasonry, the number of steps was seven.
LADDER, BRAHMANICAL
The symbolic ladder used in the Mysteries of Brahma has seven steps, symbolic of the seven worlds of the Indian universe. The lowest is the Earth; the second, the World of Coexistence; the third, Heaven; the fourth, the Middle World, or intermediate region between the lower and the upper worlds; the fifth, the World of Births, in which souls are born again; the sixth, the Mansion of the Blessed; and the seventh, or topmost round, the Sphere of Truth, the abode of Brahma, who is himself a symbol of the sun.
LADDER, QABALISTIC
The ladder of the Qabalists consists of the ten Sephirot, or Emanations, of Deity. The steps are in an ascending series: Kingdom, Foundation, Splendor, Firmness, Beauty, Justice, Mercy, Intelligence, Wisdom, and the Crown. This ladder forms the exception to the usual number of seven steps or rounds;
LADDER, MITHRAITIC
In the Persian Mysteries of Mithras, there is a ladder of seven rounds, the passage through them being symbolical of the soul's approach to perfection. These rounds are called gates, and in allusion to them, the candidate is made to pass through seven dark and winding caverns, which process is called the ascent of the ladder of perfection. Each of these caverns is representative of a world, or a state of existence, through which the soul must pass in its progress from the first world to the last, the World of Truth. The seven steps are further symbolized by the seven planets and the seven metals. Thus, beginning at the bottom, we have Saturn represented by lead, Venus by copper, Jupiter by tin, Mercury by qiucksilver, Mars by iron, the Moon by silver, and the Sun by gold; the whole being a symbol of the sidereal progress of the sun through the universe.
LADDER OF IZADOSH
This ladder, belonging to the advanced Degrees of Freemasonry, consists of the seven following steps, beginning at the bottom: Justice, Equity, Kindliness, Good Faith, Labor, Patience, and Intelligence or Wisdom. Its supports are love of God and love of our neighbor, and their totality constitute a symbolism of the devoir or duty of Knighthood and Freemasonry, the fulfillment of which is necessary to make a Perfect Knight and Perfect Freemason.
LADDER, ROSICRUCIAN
Among the symbols of the Rosicrucians is a ladder of seven steps standing on a globe of the earth, with an open Bible, Square and Compass resting on top. Between each of the steps is one of the following letters, beginning from the bottom: I. N. R. I. F. S. C., being the initials of Iesus, Nazarenus, Rex, Iudaeorum, Fides, Spes, Caritas. These words suggesting Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, Faith, Hope, Charity. But a more recondite or hidden meaning is sometimes given to the first four letters (INRI - All of Nature is Renewed by Fire).
LADDER, SCANDINAVIAN
Doctor Oliver refers the symbolic ladder used in the Gothic Mysteries to the Yggrasil, or sacred ashtree. It retains the idea of an ascent from a lower to a higher sphere, which was common to all the mystical ladder systems. At its root lies the dragon of death; at its top are the eagle and hawk, the symbols of life.
LADDER, THEOLOGICAL
The symbolic ladder of the Masonic Mysteries refers to the ladder seen by Jacob in his vision, and consists, like all symbolical ladders, of seven rounds, alluding to the four cardinal and the three theological virtues: Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, Justice, Faith, Hope, and Charity
LADDER, JACOB'S
While sleeping one night on the bare earth and a stone for his pillow, Jacob beheld the vision of a ladder, whose foot rested on the earth and whose top reached to heaven. Angels were continually ascending and descending upon it, and promised him the blessing of a numerous and happy posterity. This ladder, so remarkable in the history of the Jewish people, finds its analogue in all the ancient initiations. It is certain that the ladder as a symbol of moral and intellectual progress existed almost universally in antiquity, presenting itself either as a succession of steps, of gates, of Degrees, or in some other modified form. The number of the steps varied; although the favorite one appears to have been seven, in reference, apparently, to the mystical character almost everywhere given to that number. - An Encyclopedia of Freemasonary and its Kindred Sciences by Albert C. Mackey MD

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine/Trami has recently hit the Philippines and has affected over 3 million individuals leaving many families homeless after the onslaught of the strong winds, storm surges, and flooding with many dead, injured, and missing.
This severely breaks my heart some of the most affected areas are places that I have close ties with. Bicolandia is where my mom had come from and I have family there who were directly devastated by the typhoon and Batangas is where I live where, although I was lucky my town didn't got flooded, my friends homes were affected as well as many of the people I knew.
If you want to help, here are some organizations that are leading in relief efforts and rescue operations that you can donate to:
ANGAT BUHAY is an NGO based in the Bikol Region, one of the most affected areas in the Philippines which first felt most of the storm's impact. They are currently helping with providing hot meals to those affected by the flooding as well as sending out rescue boats to assist people who are trying to get out of the floods. Here's the official ways on how to donate to the organization:
ABS-CBN FOUNDATION is the charity branch of media company ABS-CBN Corporation that is currently focusing on giving relief goods and supplies to those affected by the typhoon. They will be providing a mobile kitchen to the victims in the Bicol region and is initiating relief efforts in the northern parts of the country.
GMA KAPUSO FOUNDATION is the charity branch of media company GMA Network that is currently focusing on giving relief goods and supplies to those affected by the typhoon.
CARITAS MANILA is a Catholic non-profit organization that's currently holding relief operations in the Bicol Region and Quezon Province which are the first hard-hit areas of the typhoon. They had actually assisted in helping my province before during the Taal Volcano eruption a few years back.
PAWS Philippines is an NGO focused on animal welfare and proper animal care education. They are currently holding fundraisers and relief operations for people and their pets. Their focus may have expanded since the initial tweet from Naga, Bicol to other affected parts of the country.
PHILIPPINE RED CROSS is the main branch of the Red Cross in the Philippines. They're currently conducting rescue operations in heavily flooded areas as well as bringing relief goods to those affected by the typhoon.
Besides these bigger organizations, there are plenty of individual and private groups conducting their own fundraisers and donation drives that you can donate to as well as local and national government relief operations that you could contribute. If anyone else has any donation links they want to add in, please feel free to add to this thread.
To those still in crisis due to flooding and other issues caused by the typhoon, please stay safe!

Some quick things to get out of the way with my kwamis and this newest batch.
Animosity and Wrath: While these two seem fundamentally close, which they are, Animosity is ultimately hate, not just rage. Hate is often a byproduct of anger, hence why they are so closely related, but Animosity doesn't always need to come from a place of anger, but 9 times out of 10, it usually is. So, Ira is the pure essence of anger and a short fuse, while Orikko is hatred personified.
Sloth and Lethargy: These two were a little harder to explain at first, but ultimately comes down to the definitions of them and their pairs. So, Sloth is the reluctance to work while Lethargy is low energy, but not reluctance. This is further shown in the pairs. Diligence is careful, persistent work while Determination is firmness and unyielding. They are both what leads to Diligence and Sloth, but not them at the same time. So, here's the explanation for them:
Diligentia is the act of the hard work that could take years to accomplish and the keen eye for every detail in the work. Sloth is the refusal to work. Determination is the unyielding force that drives us. Lethargy is that low energy state when we need to relax and take a break.
The Pandora Box:
I wasn't going to call it this, but I like it, so it stays. Now, this is where I say it's the closest you'll get to it being a miracle box because this box contains the jewels of the Sins but is guarded by the Virtues.
Now, the box:
The box itself is very unassuming. The most notable things about it is the bizarre art/markings and that there is no way to open the box. This is because the box is more of a prison, crafted by the Virtues to hold the Sins. And while the design is near flawless, there is but one flaw to it. While no ordinary mortal can open it, a holder would have access to the contents within. Something the Virtues will keep away from the holders and other kwamis.
The Virtues and Sins are the result of Velze's "death" just as is the creation of Gimmi. They were once a core ensemble of the family as the core beliefs, good and bad, that Velze upheld. The kwamis as a whole embraced them, until the Sins started causing trouble that their virtuous pairs deemed them too dangerous to leave to their own devices, containing them against the wills of their siblings.
Now the Virtues have assigned themselves the task of watching over the Sins and keeping them contained until they are all called back on the final day. At least, that's what they hope.

I can't stop giggling when I read this passage from Martha Newman's Boundaries of Charity dealing with the Cistercian perception of caritas:
Aggressive charity just fits so perfectly with my mental image of Bernard of Clairvaux's personality and his behavior.

VERITAS: SIBLINGS
i've been dragged into the rabbit hole of having ratio being the eldest of some kids to a pair of parents who may or may not have been unprepared for their first but prepared for those that came after (which led to some... disconnect, with their eldest─ veritas). i headcanon that there are, in total, six ratio siblings, mostly girls.
second eldest daughter: caritas (charity / love in latin)
third eldest sibling: amores (life / love in latin)
middle daughter: fortuna (fortunate in latin)
second youngest daughter: virtus (strength in latin)
youngest daughter: aequitas (equity in latin)

I don't think I ever posted this??? It was my final project in the class that wasn't my capstone. I sketched a little introductory comic for the Charityverse/Caritas, establishing how Charity meets the scrappers. I probably won't ever finish it, I like how it is now :)

“And by following Christ on the path of charity, we spread hope. Spreading hope: this is the third conviction that I would like to share with you. Today Italian society is in great need of hope and especially Sardinia. Those who have political and civil responsibilities have their own duty and as citizens we must actively support. Some members of the Christian community are called to work in politics that is the highest form of charity, like Paul VI said. As Church we all have a strong responsibility to spread hope through works of solidarity, always seeking to collaborate in the best possible with public institutions with respect for their respective responsibilities. Caritas is an expression of the community and the strength of the Christian community is to make society grow from within, as leaven. I think of your projects with detainees in prisons, I think of the volunteer work of many associations, of the solidarity with the families who suffer most from unemployment. For this I say to you: Courage! Don’t let yourselves be robbed of hope and keep going! May they not steal it from you! On the contrary: spread hope!”
-Pope Francis, MEETING WITH THE POOR AND PRISON INMATES, Cathedral of Cagliari Sunday, 22 September 2013

La Carita (Charity) Carlo Dolci
John 1:5
"God's preference is to be heard and God's preference is to be understood."
Blessed Pentecost! God is a God who wants to speak to you and They don't prefer one language. They are so, so much bigger than a pulpit or the church or Sunday mornings. God will speak in whatever ways you can hear; let yourself listen to the tiny whispers and the little gestures and the tongues that sound foreign to those around you. Hear Them in everything, no matter where They're speaking from.
It's so special to me that Pentecost was the last Sunday before pride month this year. God called me back through the exploration of my own queerness; He spoke to me through the radical, transgressive love I saw. Letting that part of myself out taught me how to embrace God's creation, including myself, just as it is. My religion taught me how to love recklessly and without hesitation, my queerness taught me how to love even the people I am told not to.
The Holy Spirit is reaching for you, desperate to anoint you with Their light. Let yourself reach back.

If you’ve visited Rome, you’ve probably thrown a coin into the famed Trevi fountain. The ritual is supposed to guarantee the visitor’s return to the Eternal City. Each year, over €1 million (around €3,000 of loose change per day) ends up in the water of the spectacular 18th century monument. But where does all this money go? For over a decade, the windfall - collected by a dedicated team every few months - has been contributing to a very good cause. In 2001, the mayor decided that the money should be collected for a local charity to put a stop to the frequent attempts by people to steal coins from the fountain.
Since then, the loose change that ends up in the fountain has been donated each year to charity Caritas.
The group uses the money to help the city’s poor and needy. It funds soup kitchens, homeless shelters, free supermarkets and other projects. Source: EuroNews (link in bio) #rome #charity #facts https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm9RpUuL5vk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
