We have GOT to stop pathologizing the joy out of life.
Saw someone claim that if you read a lot as a child, you were disassociating. No, you were reading. Because reading is fun.
"I have a problem with maladaptive daydreaming." It's only maladaptive if it negatively impacts your ability to function in the real world. Laughing at a joke you made in your head isn't doing that.
"You seem to do a lot if creative projects. What are you escaping?" I'm escaping this conversation.
Like what is the end goal? Because so far, all this has done has made it harder to enjoy my hobbies because you're turning a mindless process into something I gotta think about.

🛑Please Help Khawla and her family🛑
You can call me Abi and I'm making this post on behalf of Khawla Al-reesh. this is Mohiy's sister and you can find him @mohiy-gaza with his own campaign.
Mohiy reached out to me to organize a campaign for his sister as her family of 5 is in dire need of money and support. Her family consists of herself (34), her husband Adel (33), her son Muhammad (5), and her two daughters Sham (3) and Ghazal (1). Muhammad has contracted hepatitis from contaminated water and in need of treatment, and they're in need of money for necessities like food and water in general. when crossing the border once again becomes operational for fleeing Palestinians they'll need to pay $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child.
MOST Importantly however, what they need most is financial help in order to help care for their children in buying food, water, medication, and quality of life materials for their time in encampment.
Please help Khawla and her family to receive needed care and find peace in these trying times.
Their goal is set to $20,000 so that they may save the money needed for depart and any other expenses that they'll need to pay for along their journey in these trying times.
If you have any questions feel free to dm me at any time, my timezone is CST (or CDT) and i work weekends Fri-Monday.

18 year old needing abortion immediately!! hi, i want to preface by being upfront abt the fact i don't have an online presence right now. i deleted all my socials cos i posted about my pregnancy on tiktok and immediately freaked out that it would get back to my bf. basically the title. while we having s*x my bf stealthed me. he later admitted he's done this before and didn't think it was a big deal. i got really angry but he apologized and but now i'm stuck in a state where it's illegal to get an abort. i have to move. he has told me before that he WANTS to have a baby so i suspect he did it on purpose. he has lied to me before. at first i felt guilty for not believing him but now i'm convinced he's trying to trap me. i want to be out of his orbit before i make a move. i think 300 should be enough for the move. i'll only be on the road for two days. my aunt is gonna hlp me once i get there. if any of you want proof that i'm a real person you can email me at [email protected]. i have a photo of the ultrasound, just please do not post it anywhere. thank you!!

Some further reading about Russia's involvement and the role of Libya [CNN] [Associated Press]
Tumblr media
I want to point out that racial prejudice is taking priority from Sudan! Anti-blackness plays a significant role, which is why you may not know anything about it. Especially when it comes to international news outlet. There is not enough coverage on the current situation and articles would point out that it is a political conflict between two generals and/or it is a civil war. (Or they will say the UAE is the villain, but there are many countries involved, such as Russia and Libya. Here is a brief video about it by Sara (@/BSonBlast)
But it is not a political conflict. It is not a civil war. It is a genocide over the past year. The RSF (Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary backed by the UAE) and the SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces, the national military backed by Sudan's high council) are committing the most heinous crimes. Villages are under attack. A blockade is imposed. Famine is on the rise. Families are displaced. People, especially women and girls, are subjected to sexual slavery and violence.
So please show your support! One way you can do is donate to Eman Abdelrahman, @emiiii980, (#213). She is a 25 year old Sudanese who needs to rebuild her home in Khartoum after the RSF has bombed it and the window for evacuation has diminished since the Sudanese pound has been inflated!
So let's help her raise 37K in the next 3 days! 36,367 CHF has been raised. There is 633 CHF ($711 USD) left to go! You can match me! I have given 5 CHF, but you're more than welcome to give more! And make sure to pay attention to the currency exchange! $10 USD = 8 CHF!

This past week marked 58 years since the opening night for the Broadway premiere of “Cabaret” in 1966. At the time, the country was in deep turmoil. Overseas, the Vietnam War was escalating, and at home, our most regressive forces were counterpunching against the progress demanded by the civil rights movement. The composer John Kander, the lyricist Fred Ebb and the playwright Joe Masteroff wrote “Cabaret” in collaboration with the director Harold Prince as a response to the era. The parallels between the rise of fascism in 1930s Berlin as depicted in the show and the mounting tensions of the 1960s in America were both obvious and ominous.
I played the Emcee — the Kit Kat Club’s master of distraction, keeping Berlin mesmerized while Nazism slipped in through the back door. Night after night, I witnessed audiences grappling with the raw, unsettling reflection that “Cabaret” held up to them. Some material was simply too much for the audience to handle. “If You Could See Her,” which has the Emcee singing of his love for a gorilla — a thinly veiled commentary on antisemitic attitudes — ended with the lyric: “If you could see her through my eyes, she wouldn’t look Jewish at all.”
When we first performed it, in Boston, audiences gasped and recoiled. It was too offensive, too raw, too cruel. Producers fretted and the line was changed to “She isn’t a meeskite at all,” softening the blow, yes, but also the impact. I resented the change and would often, to the chagrin of stage management, “forget” to make the swap throughout that pre-Broadway run.
I’m hearing from friends in the current Broadway production of “Cabaret” that the line is once again getting an audible response, but of a different sort. On more than one occasion in the past two weeks — since the election — a small number of audience members have squealed with laughter at “She wouldn’t look Jewish at all.” In the late 1960s, we softened the line because the truth was too hard to hear. Today, it seems the line is playing exactly as the Nazi-sympathizing Emcee would have intended.
My initial assessment, when word first reached me about this unusual reaction, was that these must be the triumphant laughs of the complicit, suddenly drunk on power and unafraid to let their bigotry be known. Now I find myself considering other hypotheses. Are these the hollow, uneasy laughs of an audience that has retreated into the comfort of irony and detachment? Are these vocalized signals of acceptance? Audible white flags of surrender to the state of things? A collective shrug of indifference?
I honestly don’t know which of these versions I find most ominous, but all of them should serve as a glaring reminder of how dangerously easy it is to accept bigotry when we are emotionally exhausted and politically overwhelmed.
The 1960s were a time of social upheaval, but also a time of hope. There was a sense that as a society, we were striving toward progress — that the fight for civil rights, for peace, for equality was a fight we could win. “Cabaret,” with its portrayal of a decadent society willfully ignorant of its own demise, provided a stark counterpoint to that hope. It was a warning against the seductive power of distraction, the dangers of apathy and the perils of looking away when history demands that we look closer.
Now, in 2024, we find ourselves in a different, far more precarious moment. The recent election of Donald Trump to a second term has left many Americans, particularly those who fought so hard against the forces of authoritarianism and hate, feeling drained and disillusioned. There’s a sense that we have seen this show before, that we know how it ends, and that we’re powerless to stop it. Or worse, a sense that even though we are facing dark times they won’t really affect our own day-to-day lives — echoing the tragically shortsighted assessment of so many European Jews in the 1920s and ’30s.
“Cabaret,” with all its humor, spectacle and tunefulness, has always been both the peanut butter and the pill hidden within. It’s an entertainment that seduces us into distraction. “Leave your troubles outside,” the Emcee implores in his opening number. “In here, life is beautiful.” It’s also a cautionary tale that forces us to confront the perils of falling prey to such distractions.
The current revival cleverly ramps up the seduction, staging the show in a fully immersive, champagne-soaked party environment constructed to beguile its audience. Only when the Nazis finally show up do we see how false our velvet-enrobed sense of security has been. We too have chosen not to see what has been directly in front of us.
The democratic election of an authoritarian figure, the normalization of bigotry, the complicity of the frightened masses — none of these are new themes. We have indeed seen this show before, and I fear we do know how it ends. It’s understandable to want to retreat, to find solace where we can, but we cannot afford to look away.
History is giving us another chance to confront the forces that “Cabaret” warned us about. The question is: Will we listen this time, or will we keep laughing until the music stops?

Damn i really want to know tf happened in the writing room of arcane s2. Some of the downgrades were inevitable due to the show's corporate limitations (not being able to progress the class war story in a meaningful way, having to tie things back to league of legends in terms of making playable characters more appealing to well, play... rip Mel and Viktor in particular), sure. But i still feel like it's even worse than that? There are so many bad decisions that i couldn't even start listing them all... the characters, plot, pacing, themes, it's just such a mess? Even the dialogue writing, it feels much more mm Marvel at its worst i suppose. What i am most bothered by is probably just the straight up harmful messaging so um... Cycles of violence and abuse can be broken by individual decisions to become a better person! Got nothing to do with systemic oppression, living conditions, mental health issues, you can just conveniently ignore aaall the social context, live laugh love and then things get better automatically yep, oppressors famously stop oppressing you when you show them that you're harmless and won't put up a fight anymore. Literally three out of three suicidal characters dying to redeem themselves? Not even in a tragic/cathartic way but in a bittersweet 'they finally atoned for their mistakes' way? Groundbreaking lmao. Romantic relationship between Vi and Caitlyn including no communication about their biggest fight, just conveniently skipping to sex and getting back together - would have loved that if it was framed as the unhealthy fucked up thing that it is, skipping over Vi's hurt and her background to once again become a cop, her girlfriend's direct underling at that (!) due to her not having any other support systems... But nope that was our cute lesbian romance wrapped up, a good thing all around, not concerning at all. Jayce telling Viktor that what he 'always admired about him' was his disability and his deadly disease (??? from a character who spent the whole s1 and first act of s2 desperately trying to help Viktor find a cure? sure) and that those imperfections don't need fixing, just wtf truly. Magic bullshit was also weird, some implications of 'natural magic is ok, but achieving that power through other means corrupts you into a crazy robot bitch or just wilts your trees i guess', but tbh it was written in such a weird and inconsistent way that we can skip this one... Yeah actually a lot of things were just such a mess that I feel silly pointing to specific moments or lines I didn't like, I mean duh, it barely makes sense as a story at all... I am happy we have s1 which comparatively was a masterpiece, and i also really enjoyed s2 act1, i truly believed it would lead somewhere good at the time, my mind still kind of cuts off the story at that point when i think about it, that WAS the open ending of the show to me (is it possible that there were rewrites? targeting act 2 and 3? idk, wishful thinking perhaps). Despite my extremely negative feelings about this season's conclusion i remain glad that so many people appreciate the show regardless, it is clear that there was STILL a lot of love in the process of its creation (although i'd argue that even some of the visual aspects of the show suffered in quality, once again i have to wonder about behind the scenes mood of it all) and i get very upset when i see creatives online despairing over reception of their projects even when i'm absolutely in the disgruntled crowd hahaha... ...however yeah, this wasn't great In a world that increasingly grows more and more right-wing politically... we really needed something different i think.
