Regarding the first picture: the people pictured were literally shouting "heil hitler" while doing this [MSN, Rated Highly Factual]. I don’t know why some people are raising both arms, but that doesn't change that they’re absolutely doing a nazi salute here. (Also, as an aside, calling out antisemitism - including in pro-Palestine spaces - is not somehow anti-Palestinian. Jewish and Palestinian safety are not diametrically opposed, and frankly thinking they are is part of the problem. Palestinians also deserve better than to be used as a shield to allow people to be virulent antisemites.)

Regarding the second: I’ve seen some people try to claim this is not musk doing a nazi salute but a gesture linked to apartheid South Africa. I don’t believe this in the slightest (musk has shown support for the German far-right, as reported here by CNN), but you do realize how that is still horrifically bad, right? The Guardian and the Associated Press have more articulate things to say about this than I ever could, and I recommend reading the articles linked.

If you're upset that Elon Musk threw up a Nazi salute today, but have spent the last 15 months harassing (((Zionists))) in the name of Gaza/Palestine, then you're not mad about the Nazi salute, you're just looking for an excuse to dunk on Musk.

Sometimes I think about how multiple people I know have mentioned to a friend or friends that they were concerned a certain comment or behavior was coming from a place of unacknowledged or unconscious antisemitism, and the response was to flip out and yell at the friend bringing it up and scold them for ever saying such a thing and making such an accusation, and it's just funny how these people go on thinking themselves progressive and accepting wonderful people after displaying the most fragile racist white person behavior, but it's the bias du jour on Tumblr (and Twitter and Insta and Reddit and...) now so it's fine actually
