The way Alex lacks emotional attachment to everything and only kissed Eric as a last hurrah + experimental thing is going to kill me. Because if he cared about Eric the way Eric cared about him, he wouldnt have gunned him down mid sentence. He wouldnt have dragged his friend into this.
Alex being a truly evil person is so fascinating to me because when you watch Zero Day, you get so much introspection to Andre and Cal's emotional capacity. Alex's emotional capacity is exempt from this film because he doesn't have any at all. He has flat affect up until he smiles when telling Eric his laid out plan for their destruction.
I see people complain about Alex not having enough substance as a character, but Gus Van Sant did such a wonderful job at showing us who exactly Alex is with SO little framing. Alex is privileged, we see this in his home, his freedom, his lax parents, his ability to afford weapons- You're told this through his piano, and the cost that comes with his piano lessons. You get all of this information in very little time and not a lot of it is explained to you, Alex's character simply doesn't require monologuing.
Despite Alex's privilege, he is still troubled at school. I do think Alex is pure evil because of how he killed Eric, but there are other things i think about when diving into Alex's character. Eric's death aside, I'd like to note that I read Alex as autistic. He's visibly easily targeted, naive, his speech patterns are not like any of the "normal" characters, he gets very upset when things dont go his way (Piano scene). He has that scene in the lunch room where he seems very overstimulated, and as i mentioned before, he has flat affect. Not only that, but Alex holds a childish naivety to him- He believes that the only way to move on from his highschool torment is to kill his peers. He does not realize that things will get better, he doesnt know that there is life beyond Highschool- We have already established that he is very well off and set up for the future. I dont think autism makes his behavior okay at all, but it explains so much and this is very applicable to real life shooters as well.
Alex doesn't care, he does things for himself. I dont think he's a narcissist, but I do think he is delusional or something similar. The only time he mentions unsettlement is when he quotes "So foul and fair a day I have not seen," but I dont think it counts- He most likely only quoted this as a jab at Macbeth being a required class text + found it ironically funny that he was causing carnage and yet it was a victory for him.
Anyway, if you got this far, thanks for reading. Alex's character is painfully human and his behaviors are so interesting to read into.

keep your energy private.
seriously, keeping your energy to yourself isn’t just about privacy; it’s a form of protection. when you keep everything to yourself your plans, your dreams, your struggles you’re building a force field around your future. people can’t taint what they don’t know. your energy is sacred, and you need to protect it at all costs. i know i share a lot of my stories, goals, dreams and struggles on this blog but guys livia wildrose ain’t my real name lol. so even if i’m saying stuff here it’s not like y’all know me personally or how i look like, moreover this is a place for me to see and tract my progress as well as help everyone along the way.
it’s not just about guarding your goals from negative people, it’s also about protecting your peace from unwanted opinions and energy. you have to realize that when you let people in on your vision, you’re giving them the ability to influence your thoughts, your beliefs, and your emotions. keep your energy private so that no one can manipulate it. i’ve mentioned this in take yourself seriously cause you need to be mindful with people around you. now, if you are sharing things with people, always remember this cleanse yourself every single day. you’re not just protecting your energy from others, but also keeping yourself aligned with the higher vibrations you deserve. do your rituals, take your baths, and cleanse your space. salt, turmeric, water whatever it is you use to rid yourself of negativity make it a daily habit. you need to let go of bad energy regularly to keep your spirit clear.
why is this so important?
the world works on energy. when you’re constantly sharing your moves with others, you’re leaving yourself open to their bad vibes. not everyone wants to see you win, and some people might even secretly wish for your downfall. you can’t let that influence your life. also understand that it’s a privilege to be with you. It’s a privilege to be your friend. It’s a privilege to be in the same space as you so please if someone is acting up and is trying to make you feel bad, get rid of them as soon as possible. on top of that, just so you know, evil eye is very real. so please protect yourself from it and a lot of times. It’s these kinds of blockages that stops us from achieving our goals and dreams
but here’s the kicker: if you’re putting bad energy out there, if you’re secretly wishing for someone else to fail, guess what happens? it reflects right back on you. if you’re praying for someone’s downfall, you’re attracting your own. seriously, what you put out into the universe always comes back, and karma doesn’t miss a beat. if you’re the person trying to take others down or wishing ill will, your life will start crumbling. it’s that simple. i know people that bad things, and they will continue to do bad things to you, but keep in mind that self love is the highest form of protection so they won’t be able to get to you. if you have immense amount of self-love, as well as if you practice, protection, and grounding on daily basis. so you don’t have to go out there and wish that everything bad happens to them. use that energy to build a better life for yourself. stop being a hater, it’s not cute. being an hater will only bring bad energy in your life.
be good to people.
don’t talk bad about others, don’t even think bad about them. if you genuinely wish good things for people, your life will align with those positive energies repeat after me “other people’s success is a proof from the universe/ god that you can have that too” negativity can’t touch you when your heart is clean and pure. when you root for others, you create a cycle of good energy that bounces right back at you.
but if you’re the person who’s always gossiping, throwing shade, or wishing for someone to fall? watch how your life starts falling apart. trust me. it’s not worth it. staying pure, keeping your heart and mind clear of negativity it’s not just for your own good, it’s for your future. like seriously stop, wishing bad for other people. Because guess what karma is very real. So if you wish someone else have a bad day. girl, just be prepared to have a bad day yourself.
protection is key.
to protect yourself from all the bad energy, start wearing crystals or keep them around you (black obsidian, tourmaline etc) crystals have been used for centuries to guard against negative vibrations. find the ones that resonate with you and make them a part of your daily routine. cleanse them regularly, too.
and when you’re taking your bath, make it a ritual. add salt, turmeric, or any cleansing ingredient that feels right to you. when you’re washing away the physical dirt, you’re also washing away the negative energy you might have picked up throughout the day. make it a habit. let the water purify you.
use sage, santo polo etc to keep negative energy away from you even egg cleanse
keep your thoughts pure.
don’t just cleanse your space cleanse your mind. every thought matters. every feeling you put out into the world matters. protect your inner world because the more you focus on positivity and good vibes, the more it will reflect in your external world. keep this in mind that the more positive and nice you are the better. the more you help people god/ universe will help you, the more you. don’t let other people’s negativity make you a bad person stay pure and nice.
your energy, your peace, and your success they all start within. keep your mind clear of judgment, jealousy, and resentment. when you focus on the good, the universe will deliver it right back to you. but if you focus on the bad, on wishing others ill, you’re opening the door for the universe to serve that right back to you. it’s law.
conclusion.
so, cleanse daily. protect your energy. keep your thoughts pure, and keep your dreams to yourself. the world doesn’t need to know your every move. like there is a reason why i never told you guys, what is my ultimate goal, but i will let you know when i finally achieve it. as simple as that, don’t tell your goals, your actions, etc. unless and until it’s done once you’re done only then tell people about it because then they can’t take it away from you. so yeah, keep everything to yourself. but all your opps and friends will know your success when you manifest it with all the positive energy you’ve been building up.
there is nothing wrong in it. not telling your goals and your dreams and your plans etc. this being said you’re only saving yourself from extra criticism and extra pressure that comes with people knowing where you’re heading. because now they’ll keep asking you question and if you fail at a certain step, they will even laugh at you, so you’re just saving yourself from all those extra pressure. plus, there is nothing more sexy than being a mysterious person. who has a lot of layers and nobody knows what’s coming next? be mysterious, but do it properly. some people don’t know how to be mysterious and that just make them look dumb in my eyes. seriously, so if you’re trying to be mysterious, do it properly you know?
you got this. now go, keep your energy high, your space clear, and your mind focused. your future’s too bright to let anyone dim it.

Once you get this, you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly. Then you have to send this to ten of your favourite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool~) 🌈 🌈
in our tumblr ask era are we 😂😂 alright, here goes: 1) independence to be specific, my ability to keep myself company and distract myself from loneliness and boredom very, very well. when i achieve financial independence too one day, i think it'll be perfect lol 2) honesty i know when and how to sugarcoat, and i could say i'm not bad at lying. but here's the thing: i'm aware of the inconveniences that come with those, so i do try to be honest most of the time. unfortunately there's no real in-between when it comes to my truth and false, so sometimes people think i'm mean because i tend to serve it hard and cold. it keeps the fakes and BS away though, so it works for me. 3) ethics ngl, to this day i'm still a bit bitter with my upbringing. but i admit it has formed a lot of what i hold as my morals and ethics today. i have decent understanding of what's considerate and not, what's necessary and not, etc. combined with my no-BS personality, people who don't match my vibes tend to shy away if i don't take real steps back away from them first. i also don't cause and/or get into dramas as much as others around me haha 🗿 4) luck with friends i don't usually talk about this, but i am super thankful for the people i have had the opportunity to know and befriend in life. i'm more a quality than quantity type of person, so my luck does not necessarily mean i have a lot of friends, but rather having the privilege to find and be found by the "right" people, who make me learn to be a better person. or you know, simply be wonderful companions where we can share our thoughts without worry :') 5) art style not saying it in the way that "my art style is the best!!", because i do sometimes wish it was better, more complex, and more detailed like typical big artists lol. still, i like it because it's comfortable - it's me. if it changes in the future, guess it's safe to say i have undergone another character development 😂

Blog Prompt 4
Who are you to interpret nature through art? How do you interpret “the gift of beauty”?
To begin to answer this question I believe it is important to touch on what was learned in Unit 4 of ENVS*3000 about the concept of art. Art comes in many different forms including a song or a photograph. Pieces of art are able to, for example, capture something from the past and bring it into the future. This allows someone to witness its beauty over and over again without having to be there first hand. Allowing for someone to interpret nature in itself without having to view it in real life, giving them an opportunity to digest the beauty of it. Art can also allow us to interpret nature from the perspective of someone else which is another insightful point of view during the interpretation processes. When thinking of who I am as an individual, to interpret nature through art there are many aspects that need to be considered. Every person has their own experiences and opinions, no two people are the same. Each person can have a different interpretation of the art they are a witness to. This can lead back to last week's discussion surrounding privilege. The privileges that I have, which has allowed me to see and experience nature shapes how I would interpret nature through art. My personal connection with nature affects how I interpret nature through art. While everyone else may interpret the art in a different way due to their own personal experiences. This in itself is another interesting factor that can be considered when interpreting nature through art. Each person's experience with nature are unique therefore how each person will interpret nature through art will be unique. Overall, everyone has the right to interpret nature through art, the connections formed with nature are personal and are dependent on the individual interpreting the art.
Tumblr media
Nature interpretation offers so many “gifts” to its audience. In chapter 5 of the Interpreting Cultural and Natural Heritage: For a Better World textbook it lists 15 gifts which are affiliated to the Principles of Interpretation (page 84 in the textbook). One of these is the gift of beauty. The principle in association states “Interpretation should instill in people the ability, and the desire, to sense the beauty in their surroundings—to provide spiritual uplift and to encourage resource preservation”. After analyzing this principle I interpret the gift of beauty as the feelings that experiencing nature invoke within me. Whenever I am faced with hard times or sad feelings my mood can be uplifted by simply going on a walk and embracing nature. This is because when I am outside I admire the beauty of nature and the value that it holds in my day to day life. Seeing and appreciating the beauty that nature holds makes me for example place intrinsic value on all parts of an ecosystem. I am able to see not only the beauty that nature holds, but also recognize the importance of it. The gift of beauty is therefore the privilege and emotional attachment that is formed when immersed in nature's beauty. This beauty allows us to form a connection with nature and instills the need to foster protection of the environment.

{riley keough, 33, ciswoman, she/her} we are so glad to see you safe, LADY CÉLESTINE GAUTHIER of FRANCE! it’s dangerous out in the world these days, but i hear that you are AMBITIOUS and POISED enough to handle it. just don’t let your OBSTREPEROUS bring you down! stay on your guard, because with your secret being at risk for exposure, you wouldn’t want everyone to find out about your DISLIKE TOWARDS NOBILITY BUT  ITS UNCANNY SINCE YOU HAVE COME TO AT THE BEHEST OF YOUR FAMILY TO FIND A WEALTHY HUSBAND TO ENSURE YOUR SISTERS SAFETY {mara, 26, est, she/her}
hi my name is mara but feel free to call me Maru if you like. here is the first character intro, I hope you adore Celestine like I do.
Lady Célestine Gauthier was born into a humble farming family in a village outside Lyon. Her parents, though not of noble birth themselves, worked for the wealthy and benevolent noblewoman, Madame Heloise de Montaigne. Her father served as the estate manager, overseeing the daily operations of Madame de Montaigne's extensive lands, while her mother was the head housekeeper, responsible for the smooth running of the household.
From a young age, Célestine and her siblings were exposed to the refined world of the aristocracy, albeit from the servants' quarters. Madame de Montaigne took a particular interest in Célestine and her sisters, recognizing their intelligence and potential. Seeing the disparity between their abilities and their circumstances, Madame de Montaigne decided to sponsor the Gauthier children, providing them with an education and the training required to navigate the complexities of high society. The womanhood lost her own family and with no heirs, she saw the Gauthier as her own.
Under Madame de Montaigne's tutelage, Célestine and her sisters were transformed into refined young ladies. They were taught the arts, languages, etiquette, and the ways of the aristocracy. Despite their humble origins, the Gauthier sisters quickly adapted to their new roles, thanks to their intelligence and determination.
Personality:
Célestine's dual upbringing has endowed her with a unique blend of humility and grace. She is ambitious, driven by a desire to rise above her circumstances and secure a better future for herself and her family. Her poise and elegance make her a natural fit for high society, yet she retains a grounded and practical perspective from her rural roots.
Her obstreperous nature reflects her rebellious spirit and unwillingness to be confined by societal expectations. She is intelligent, resourceful, and not afraid to speak her mind, though she has learned to temper her outspokenness with diplomacy and tact.
Secret and Motivations:
Célestine harbors a secret disdain for the nobility, despite her own aristocratic background. She finds the superficiality and entitlement of the upper class distasteful, a sentiment that has only deepened with time. Her family's position as servants to Madame de Montaigne and her subsequent education have made her acutely aware of the disparity between the nobility's privileges and the common people's struggles.
Her primary motivation is to ensure the safety and well-being of her younger sisters. To achieve this, she has reluctantly accepted her family's plan to find a wealthy and influential husband. This mission is fraught with tension for Célestine, as it forces her to navigate a world she despises while maintaining a facade of acceptance and compliance.
Connection to Maximilien:
Célestine's relationship with her cousin Maximilien is one of mutual respect and deep familial loyalty. Both having grown up under the care of her parents, they share a bond forged through shared experiences and mutual support.
Maximilien's radical views and revolutionary activities are a source of inspiration and concern for Célestine. She shares his desire for a more just and equal society, but her approach is more subtle and cautious. Célestine uses her position within the nobility to gather information and influence events from the inside.
Current Situation:
As part of the French envoy, Célestine is thrust into the heart of the very society she secretly despises. She must play the role of a dutiful noblewoman, attending social functions and engaging in courtly politics, all while keeping her true feelings hidden. Her primary goal is to secure a marriage that will provide protection and stability for her sisters, but she is constantly on guard, aware that any misstep could expose her and jeopardize her mission.
Célestine's journey is one of balancing her public persona with her private convictions.

What bring joy to your heart?
#notamovieexplanation In addition to our cinematic discussion, my husband and I engage in profound dialogues on a wide range of topics that are of great significance to us.
During our discussion, we delved into the topic of passion and dreams, exploring the things that ignite our inner fire and bring us joy. We reflected on our personal interests and the activities that we find most fulfilling.
From a young age, my husband knew that his passion lay in the realm of art. Even then, he possessed a constant desire to pursue this path. Today, he has fulfilled his dream and currently works as an art director. He recounted a time when he told his family, relatives and peers about his dreams and passion, only to be met with skepticism and doubt. No one could envision the possibility of his success. They persisted in urging him to abandon his pursuit, questioning the very nature of art and its profitability, given that my husband come from a humble background where his family had known the hardships of putting food on the table. Thus, those in his vicinity find it more realistic to seek employment that results in real financial gain.
Despite the opinions of others, the love and passion for art are simply grander. My husband remained firm and resolute in his pursuits, never once wavering or succumbing to the pressures of societal expectations. He embarked on a lengthy bus ride from his home to the art instruction location, enduring it without interruption. He started with simple sketches and design, gradually, he began to make a name for himself among his classmates when the topic of art arose. He has persisted in his pursuit of knowledge and artistic endeavors up to the present moment. Not only did he demonstrate to these individuals his ability to create something meaningful through art, he also demonstrated that if one has a deep affection for something and dedicates oneself to it, the rewards will inevitably follow. Despite not achieving success, you will gain knowledge and experience throughout your journey. As per the words of my spouse, "Do you job, do the best of it, and leave the rest for God." The days when we worked together are still vivid in my mind. I recall being struck by his fervor, particularly when he spoke about his passion for art.
As for myself, I am currently uncertain about my true passion and what my future career may entail. Throughout my academic journey, I endeavored to study diligently in order to achieve high grades and secure admission into a reputable university. My primary motivation for doing so was to bring joy to my parents. I hail from a humble background where my family's financial status is not affluent. My parents, who did not have the privilege of obtaining higher education, worked tirelessly to ensure that I receive a quality education. Their aspiration was for me to have a better life than they did. Despite achieving academic success with a high score in school, obtaining a bachelor's degree, and securing a well-paying job, I have never experienced true happiness. Throughout my life, I have consistently experienced a sense of disconnection from my own identity, feeling as though the person I am does not align with my true self. I have come to the realization that the task at hand is not my passion, yet I am uncertain of what truly ignites my heart. I persist in working on the task that does not stir up my fondness, for it provides me with a reliable source of financial sustenance. However, within the depths of my being, I am plagued by a sense of discontentment and unease. The mere mention of work elicits feelings of apprehension, as if I am compelling myself to engage in work against my will.
However, upon meeting my beloved spouse, we commenced conversing and viewing films in each other's company. Typically, I explain the film's plot to him subsequent to its end. He continued to speak, his words flowing effortlessly from his lips. "Babe, you are so smart," he said, his voice filled with admiration. He proceeded to express admiration for my intellect, remarking on my astute observations and eloquent articulation of ideas. Initially, I perceived his words as endearing. I pondered over what I could do, is something that seemed ordinary and within the reach of anyone. Over time, my husband began to encourage me to put my thoughts down on paper, recognizing the potential within me. Yesterday marked a momentous occasion for me as I penned my very first movie explanation. The experience was nothing short of exhilarating, a feeling that I have never before encountered, not even when I achieved a significant milestone in a past project. As I reminisce about my youth, a particular fondness for Literature comes to mind. The act of writing held a special place in my heart. But in the past, my writing was solely driven by the need for a high score. As a result, my writing became a task that I completed with the intention of producing an essay that would meet the criteria for a good score, rather than writing from a place of passion. Over time, my passion for writing diminished. As I journeyed through the formative years of my life, I was never bestowed with the affirmation that my writing was commendable or that my ability to perceive things was noteworthy. This lack of recognition gradually led me to believe that I was simply “nothing special”.
It was only after encountering a gentleman who valued even my most insignificant explanations of films, attentively hearing my musings and motivating me to transcribe them, that I truly felt understood. I have come to the realization that I need a person in my life who can perceive my genuine potential and radiance, without any intention of suppressing it, but rather, striving to enhance its brilliance. It all stems from my husband's recognition of my talent for writing, which has empowered me to express my emotions through the written word. As previously mentioned, initially I believed that all the compliments my spouse gave me were merely expressions of his affectionate nature. However, my spouse persists in showering me with compliments, perplexed as to why others fail to perceive the qualities he admires in me. As I pondered, a realization dawned upon me. It seems that my own disbelief in my remarkable talent has clouded my vision. How is it that others can perceive the radiance within me, when I myself cannot?
Now I sit here, typing on keyboard, I am struck by the realization that I have rediscovered my love for writing. It is a passion that had placed silent within me for years, but now, as I put pen to paper, the words flow effortlessly from my mind to the page, and my heart is fulfilled with happiness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Introduction
If you're planning to move abroad for work, study, or long-term residence, understanding the difference between a residence permit and a work visa is crucial. These documents serve different purposes and come with varying rules and benefits. Wave Visas Immigration is here to help you navigate the complexities of international relocation and make the best decision for your future.
What is a Visa?
A visa is an official document that grants you permission to enter and stay in a foreign country for a specific period. It is typically stamped on your passport and has different categories based on your purpose of travel, such as:
Tourist Visa – For sightseeing and leisure travel.
Student Visa – For studying at an accredited institution.
Business Visa – For attending conferences or meetings.
Work Visa – For taking up employment in a foreign country.
In most cases, a residence permit requires you to first have a valid visa. Let’s explore how work visas and residence permits differ.
What is a Work Visa?
A work visa allows you to work legally in a foreign country. It is usually issued for a fixed period and is often linked to a specific employer. Work visas may have strict conditions, such as:
Needing employer sponsorship.
Limited validity (renewal required).
Restrictions on switching employers without prior approval.
Dependence on employment status (if you lose your job, you may lose your visa).
What is a Residence Permit?
A residence permit, also known as a residency visa, allows you to live in a foreign country for an extended period. It provides more stability than a work visa and may come with benefits like:
Long-term stay privileges (months or years).
Access to public services such as healthcare and education.
The ability to work freely or start a business (in some cases).
Possibility of permanent residency or citizenship over time.
Key Differences Between a Residence Permit and a Work Visa
Tumblr media
Benefits of a Work Visa
Job Security – A work visa ensures that you have legal employment in a foreign country.
Faster Processing – Work visas are often processed quicker than residence permits.
Pathway to Residency – Some work visas allow you to apply for permanent residency later.
Benefits of a Residence Permit
Long-Term Stability – Live in a foreign country for an extended period without frequent renewals.
Flexibility in Work – Some residence permits allow for multiple job opportunities or self-employment.
Family Sponsorship – Many residence permits allow you to bring your family members.
Access to Social Benefits – May provide access to healthcare, education, and housing benefits.
Choosing the Right Option for You
When deciding between a work visa and a residence permit, consider the following questions:
Do you have a confirmed job offer in a foreign country?
Are you planning a short-term stay or a long-term move?
Do you want the flexibility to change jobs or start a business?
Are you looking for pathways to permanent residency or citizenship?
If your primary goal is employment, a work visa is the best choice. However, if you’re looking for long-term stability and integration into the country, a residence permit is a better option.

The Surprising Connection Between Tax Preparation and Mindfulness
Tumblr media
Tax preparation and mindfulness might seem like unrelated concepts at first glance, but there is a surprising connection between the two that can positively impact your tax experience and overall well-being. Mindfulness, the practice of being fully present and engaged at the moment, can transform the way you approach tax preparation and lead to greater clarity, efficiency, and peace of mind.
Present-Moment Awareness: Mindfulness encourages present-moment awareness, which is essential for effective tax preparation. Instead of getting overwhelmed by past financial decisions or worrying about future tax liabilities, mindfulness helps you focus on the task at hand. By being fully present as you gather documents, review expenses, and fill out forms, you can approach tax preparation with greater clarity and attention to detail.
Reduced Stress and Anxiety: Tax season often brings stress and anxiety for many people, hiring professionals from the best tax preparation company in Fort Worth TX can help relieve these negative emotions. By practicing mindfulness techniques you can calm your mind and body, reducing the physiological effects of stress. This relaxed state of mind can make tax preparation feel less daunting and more manageable.
Improved Focus and Concentration: Mindfulness enhances your ability to focus and concentrate, which is crucial for navigating complex tax forms and calculations. By training your mind to stay present and attentive, you can better retain information, make fewer mistakes, and complete tasks more efficiently. This improved focus can lead to a more accurate and thorough tax return.
Enhanced Decision Making: Mindfulness fosters greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and impulses, which can lead to more intentional decision-making during tax preparation. Instead of reacting impulsively or succumbing to distractions, mindfulness allows you to pause, assess your options, and make informed choices that align with your financial goals and values.
Increased Financial Literacy: Mindfulness encourages curiosity and exploration, including in the realm of personal finances. By approaching tax preparation with a curious and open mindset, you can deepen your understanding of tax laws, deductions, and financial strategies. This increased financial literacy empowers you to make more informed decisions year-round, not just during tax season.
Gratitude and Perspective: Practicing mindfulness can cultivate a sense of gratitude and perspective, even amid tax preparation. Instead of viewing taxes as a burden or source of frustration, mindfulness allows you to appreciate the opportunities and privileges that come with earning income and contributing to society. This shift in perspective can transform your tax experience from a chore to a meaningful aspect of your financial journey.
Mindful Spending and Saving: As you review your financial documents during tax preparation, mindfulness can help you become more aware of your spending habits and financial priorities. By examining your income, expenses, and savings goals with mindfulness, you can make intentional choices that align with your values and support your long-term financial well-being.
Strengthened Resilience: Mindfulness builds resilience by teaching you to respond to challenges with equanimity and adaptability. Tax preparation may involve unexpected setbacks or complications, but mindfulness allows you to approach these obstacles with a calm and resilient attitude. Instead of becoming overwhelmed or discouraged, you can navigate challenges with greater ease and confidence.
The connection between tax preparation and mindfulness highlights the profound impact that present-moment awareness, reduced stress, improved focus, enhanced decision-making, increased financial literacy, gratitude, and resilience can have on your tax experience and overall well-being. By incorporating mindfulness practices into your tax preparation routine, you can transform what might otherwise be a stressful or tedious task into an opportunity for personal growth, clarity, and financial empowerment.

Today and Tomorrow
For our 4th class session, we were privileged to have Ms. Hazel Delos Santos as our esteemed guest speaker. My groupmates and I were very fortunate to host this session, which was truly enlightening and inspiring. This elective has become one of the highlights of my MBA journey, providing me with invaluable insights and motivation from successful leaders.
I am immensely grateful to the CEOs who have taken time out of their hectic schedules to engage with us, inspire us, and motivate us to become good leaders of the future. As Ms. Hazel emphasized, the hallmark of a good leader is the willingness to share, and these CEOs exemplify this trait remarkably.
Ms. Hazel began her talk by sharing her professional journey. She was very transparent about her employment history and the reasons behind her career transitions. Her honesty and bravery in navigating her career path, her eagerness to learn, and her willingness to step out of her comfort zone make her a role model for the kind of female leader I aspire to be.
As I reflect on Ms. Hazel’s insights and my future as a leader, several key themes stand out:
Lifelong Learning: The eagerness to learn and adapt to new situations highlights the importance of lifelong learning. As a future leader, I will foster a continuous improvement and learning culture within my organization.
Courage to Change: the courage to change means being ready to leave behind old habits and comfort zones in order to find fresh opportunities and innovative approaches to get where you want to go. This kind of courage is important for both personal and professional growth because it leads to progress and a mindset of always getting better and coming up with new ideas.
Work-Life Balance: Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial for long-term success and well-being. As a leader, I will prioritize and model the importance of balancing professional and personal responsibilities, encouraging my team to do the same
Meanwhile, as I continue my MBA studies and work towards becoming a future leader, there are several actions I can take now, based on what I have learned from Ms. Hazel:
Practice Active Listening: I will actively listen and pose thoughtful inquiries in conversations and meetings. This endeavor will help me see things from other people's points of view and show that I'm dedicated to learning.
Be Prepared: Whether for academic, professional, or networking purposes, I will ensure that I am well-prepared to show dedication and respect for others’ time and knowledge.
Set Boundaries for Work-Life Balance: I will start setting boundaries for my personal time, such as designated phone-free periods during family time, to cultivate a habit of intentional quality time for the things that matter most.
Seek Mentorship and Guidance: I will proactively seek out mentors and advisers who can assist me in navigating my career progression and provide me with guidance. I will enhance my ability to navigate my own journey more effectively by integrating knowledge from their experiences.
The talk delivered by Ms. Hazel Delos Santos has greatly influenced my comprehension of leadership and has equipped me with practical advice that I can apply both presently and in the long run. I am immensely inspired by her steadfast dedication to openness, courage, and attaining excellence in every aspect of her life, encompassing both profession and family. I am motivated to implement these ideas and aspire to become a courageous, compassionate, and accomplished leader as I advance through my MBA program.

What makes you guys think celebrities don't face racism? Or misogyny? Or ableism? Which all hit Cardi both after she was famous and back when she was a sex worker barely scrapping by. She didn't tell you you couldn't vote she just doesn't fuck with two white men that don't care for her wellbeing and most likely want her dead. She has that right. Just as how you personally care more which candidate is least likely going to harm you even if that means they harm other marginalized groups you aren't associated with
Did I say anywhere that celebrities couldn't face any of those things? Did I imply anywhere that celebrities don't face any of those things? No, I didn't.
I said celebrities have the ability to use their wealth to avoid the consequences of some things others can't.
It's not an either or thing. Wealth is a privilege that she has. Full stop. She can easily move to another country if the US goes to shit. She can fly to other countries for health care if she needs it. She can afford any costs that might come with policies that undercut working class families.
The idea that "I personally care more which candidate will harm me" is a big idea for someone who doesn't know me. I care which of the *two candidates* will harm the least amount of people.
I hate the system. I hate that the choices are "kill millions of people" or "kill millions of people and also further ruin the supreme Court to cause current and future generations lasting harm". I don't take that lightly. I feel the weight of that.
However, I'm not forgetting the election of 2016. I'm not forgetting what 'refusing to vote for either of them' has led to. The recent ruling for allowing South Carolina to be further gerrymandered, harming the residents of color for now and years to come: helped by Trump. The ruling allowing Idaho to ban gender affirming care: helped by Trump. The ruling allowing Texas local police to arrest migrants: helped by Trump. I can go on for all the ways that marginalized groups have been and would continue to be more thoroughly harmed by Trump but we don't have all day.
So we don't need celebrities out here bragging about how they aren't going to vote for president because this race is already going to be stupid close.
Every other position on the ballot I can find someone I can respect, who I can have faith in will do better for all people.
In the presidential race there are only trolly problems and we all have to take part in them.

What Do I Bring as an Interpreter?
To start my final blog post, I think it's fitting to reflect on all that has shaped me throughout the semester. In the reading for each week, we have discussed audiences and methods of communication for interpretation, as well as the various realms of interpretation such as music, art, and science. But something that rings true in most people is their own personal ethics. It is something that you build from very young, and doesn't have many changes over time. While there are objective rights and wrongs in the world, ethics can be more ambiguous. So coming into the interpretation scene, it has been important to get a major sense of what's important ethically. With this, I'll begin with the beliefs that I think would be beneficial to be brought.
I am less sturdy in my beliefs compared to most people. I believe it's important to be diligent and accepting of others potential ideas. This can be especially true when considering people have "invisible knapsacks" (Gallavan, 2005). We've considered how other people's experiences shape how they interpret the world, and what better way to start my interpretation of the world with other people at the forefront. Since beliefs are very subjective, the ability to adapt and accept ideas outside your own is my most needed belief. While this adaptability is important, the middle ground is not always the right solution. If two people believe that 2+2=4 and 2+2=5, the right answer doesn't become 4.5. With this, I think its important to hold your ground on certain topics and opinions. But knowing when to do this is difficult. My belief is that this is innate to oneself, and knowing your limit will come automatically. In interpretation, my belief is that everyone will have their own set of opinions, and that is their privilege to do so. A different ethical belief I hold relates back to the middle ground argument, where some people will be better suited to interpret certain environments. As stated in Beck et al., (2018), indigenous individuals have been interpreting their natural environments for thousands of years, and non-locals cannot interpret these environments with the same level of intricacy and nuance. But for me personally, a fresh set of eyes on the environment can perhaps bring back some commonly overlooked things for the experts, so everyone has their own part to play.
This translates into the responsibilities I would have as an interpreter, and for this it really depends on the context. If I were to be interpreting the environment I grew up around to someone outside of it, I would take up the responsibility of sharing. This is in the sense that my opinion is sought after and wanted by someone else, where ethically it is unjust to inject yourself and your insights onto the unwilling. However in this case, assuming other want to hear, it's also my responsibility to make sure that I am catering my insight in a way suitable to my audience. This could be to those of different ages, races, genders, and backgrounds, or it can even be just those with different learning styles (Beck et al., 2018). This is my responsibility because if you do not convey your interpretations in these ways, the message or story you are trying to tell may be lost. We can relate this back to the blog prompt on historical interpretation, where historians and cultural story tellers have had their tales convoluted and misinterpreted maliciously or just by accident. This ruined the accuracy and authenticity of the work, which is something I do not want to do (Beck et al., 2018). Another shared responsibility between myself and all other interpreters out there will be maintenance of their interpretation. This could be your local trails or parks, all the way up to your country and the planet. In the way that one interpreter cares for their specific interpretation, we all must care for the larger group of them that makes up our world. By doing this, we can ensure the future of interpretation for our children and theirs after them. I believe that it is paramount that interpreter give those younger the opportunity to interpret in the future, and that requires our planet to stay healthy. Children are the most capable of interpreting and absorbing the outside world in their first years, and they develop very quickly through different learning styles, as an interpreter to these children I'd be responsible for creating activities that boost their developing abilities (Beck et al., 2018). By doing this I could aid in ensuring a future for interpretation.
This final section is the most difficult for me to convey, as I've just noted that interpretation should be catered for your audience and not yourself. But I feel that the approach I most resonate with tells a story. A picture paints a thousand words, and nature is a million pictures. Guiding people through a natural wonder is the best approach to create wonder and have audiences take charge for something you care about. You would tell this story while moving through nature, to keep them on their toes. The story would have abrupt changes of pace with constant highs and lows. It would be mapped steadily, to keep flow throughout. Their would be puzzles to solve, and give a sense of accomplishment after completion. But most importantly, the stories meaning would be at the forefront. The stories message would be one I personally am passionate about, and I could answer any follow ups with ease. This is my ideal approach, one that goes through all the learning styles in some way, in an attempt to reach the most people.
I have learned a lot through this course, but most the important thing I've learned in my opinion is to not lose yourself. Regardless of how you have to change your interpretation to meet your audiences needs, don't lose the passion you have for your interpretation. Maintaining your passion will allow it to spread to many others, and that has been the goal of the course all along.

Saw a post decrying people who talk about how patriarchy hurts men as "distracting from the real issues" I suppose, because ultimately they say without patriarchy men would be "worse off". My immediate first thought is, "Worse off how?" I guess if you view taking away any privilege that gives you the ability to harm and exploit others as a net negative, I guess taking away patriarchy would make a person "worse off", but to me, that's a net positive. No one regardless of their status should feel they have the right and privilege to exploit others.
And also, like, yeah I know. I know that patriarchy favors men, I know it's built to raise up men, but how it does that and the actual effects it has do matter. When patriarchy ends men will still exist, we can't just act like they won't when we're done. The post poses the question, "If patriarchy wasn't benefitting men then why would they ever try and maintain it?" and like, people can be convinced of many things through propaganda, especially if that propaganda is essentially centuries old and has been modified to fit the times every time it needs to.
It's honestly kinda weird that the person would frame someone losing their ability to harm and exploit people would mean "losing benefits". It isn't a benefit! Why would you phrase it that way? The ability to be cruel is just cruel, it doesn't impart anything that doesn't come at a huge cost to that person's soul (if you don't mind me using that term). This is lowkey how people who are abusive and want control would like it to be phrased because their whole worldview is based on the idea that evil feminists are gonna take away their ability to do normal things, as if having the ability to look down on others and hurt them is a thing that anyone should want or have the ability to do. It isn't. Taking away the option for men of the future to view women through terrible lenses will actually be a benefit to them as well. In this sense, depriving men of the patriarchal worldview that's impressed upon them, will actually make them happier people.
Did we all just forget that cruel people are innately hollow inside on some level? Of course, if people grew up without feeling like they should be cruel or even could be without direct consequence, it would make them happier compared to those who did grow up with that. I don't say that to remotely act like we should feel sympathy for abusive people, but that mindset almost objectively makes people feel worse, and removing it from the equation would actually be the opposite of taking away benefits, it would actively make people feel better.
Obviously, patriarchy hurts people who aren't men in a more direct way, but yes, it does harm men and there's no need to act like we can't focus on more than one thing at once. We can acknowledge how the system is harming many groups of people without losing focus of any one group, it's not a one-way street.

Learn What A Pro Has To Say On The Residency By Investment
In a rapidly changing world where boundaries blur and opportunities transcend national borders Citizenship and residency investment programs have become useful tools for those who need to navigate the challenges that come with global mobility. These programs provide a path to acquiring citizenship or residency in a different country through financial investments giving individuals an opportunity to gain access to new markets and a variety of opportunities. Citizenship through investment and residency through investing are two of the primary ways through which individuals can gain access to markets in foreign countries and gain a foothold in a new nation. Programs for citizenship through investment allow investors to become citizens by completing a substantial financial contribution, typically as a form of investments in real estate, businesses, or bonds. However, investing in residency programs gives investors the opportunity to obtain the right to reside in the country by making significant investments in the host country's economy. The Residency by Investment program, commonly called the "golden visa" program, allows individuals the right to live in a country of their choice in return in exchange for a qualified investment. Browse the below mentioned site, if you are searching for more information about residency by investment.
Tumblr media
The investment could take many forms, including property acquisition as well as capital investment or job creation, depending on the criteria of the specific program. Golden visa citizenship permits investors to enjoy advantages of a residency as well as a possible pathway to citizenship in the long term. These programs allow access to foreign markets, allowing investors with access to previously untapped opportunities and enabling them to expand their portfolios. Through gaining citizenship or residency in another country, investors have access to an array of benefits. range of advantages, such as visa-free travel, favorable tax regimes, and improved opportunities for business. Furthermore, these programs offer individuals and their families the chance to live, work, and study in a new environment which encourages cultural exchange as well as personal growth. For those who want to get an immigration visa for residency the citizenship and investment programs provide a simple and efficient pathway to achieving their goals. These programs offer an easy-to-follow framework for determining eligibility and offer a streamlined application process, minimizing administrative hurdles and delays.
Moreover, by leveraging their investment capital, individuals have the ability to gain residency rights and citizenship privileges which would otherwise be difficult to attain through traditional channels for immigration. As the world gets more interconnected, citizenship and investment programs will play a key role in facilitating global mobility as well as encouraging economic growth. In attracting foreign investment as well as talents, host countries will be able to stimulate growth, create jobs, and enhance their global competitiveness stage. Meanwhile, investors benefit from increased opportunities to create wealth, asset protection, and personal fulfillment. The residency and citizenship investment programs offer a viable solution for individuals seeking to navigate the maze of an increasingly globalized world. If you are looking for residency visas or exploring pathways towards citizenship These programs provide investors with a pathway to new opportunities and markets, allowing investors to create a better future for their families and themselves.

world building
honestly this is tricky to write, and will probably be a forever work in progress
the whole story was written/made up when i was twelve and barely out of grade school but now i have been thinking about it and trying to remember and fill the blanks from my memory additionally, sometimes i stay faithful to the original story i came up with, but sometimes i also change parts i no longer like/agree with, so sometimes it will make no sense or be contradictive. THIS IS WHY I'M SAYING THIS IS GONNA BE A FOREVER WORK IN PROGRESS
i will add links to individual posts of the world building if i write any in the future
the story (or at least most of the storyline) was set in the United Kingdom, i'm still thinking about the precise location (tbh haven't researched much, never been there haha) but i'm thinking of northern part of uk.
but, the general worldbuilding goes like this:
this world is a mix of low-fantasy - as in we have magic and non-human races in the world that is similar like ours - and modern dystopia (kinda??? it's not so modern, like, the tech more or less is the same save for some parts)
Magic
magic is a sensitive and complicated topic in this world. just like ours, magic is commonly taboo for normal humans, and humans who do not know better, even though they mostly get the benefit of it.
this means the witch hunt that happened in real world also happened in this world.
every single person, human and nonhuman, has Mana.
Tumblr media
if you have mana, it means you can do magic. yet, not everyone has the chance or even privilege to learn about mana and regulate/control it. it's being gatekept for a lot of reasons
magic also differs from one another. most common people immediately think about witches and wizards when they're talking about magic. in reality, everything 'magical' that humans and nonhumans can do is considered magic, e.g. vampire powers; whenever a vampire uses their ability, they use mana.
Races
honest to god i never considered if there are more races than human and vampire (and likely werewolf)
(please don't judge me it was 2008) (also I CAME UP WITH IT BEFORE TWILIGHT WAS RELEASED? help? i thought it was the other way around)
but i'm thinking the most complicated relationship would be between humans and vampires since they are natural enemies
i remember i came up that there was a time when vampire and human race had a truce but it was broken at some point until the canon story comes to its end (at the beginning of the story it was already many years after the truce was broken)
so, yeah, since the story is about Ethan Reed (and Evan Reed), the main focus would be about vampires and humans.
