Super Typhoon Carina
This was around 8 in the morning, yesterday, July 24.
We're call center agents. Some of my workmates couldn't get home because of the flooding. Fortunately, our office was prepared and was able to at least host some of the stranded in the sleeping quarters. Small 1 person tents were even set up so people could get some rest and sleep.
I know I am just one of the luckier ones, who live relatively nearby, in an area high enough that we don't get flooded.
I'm just thankful I could get home.
If I have any mutuals out there in Manila - please stay safe and dry. We know this isn't going to be the last storm - it's just the opening salvo of typhoon season.

Habagat at Bagyong Carina

Text
My sister woke me up and offered to make me a cup of coffee. I didn't realize it was pouring hard until I went downstairs and actually heard the gust of wind that almost permanently bent some trees on our street.
I usually enjoy stormy days but the onset of the week has been particularly difficult for a lot of people. My family is safe but other areas in our village, including several entry points, were already flooded. Food supply and daily essentials aren't even scarce but stores are inaccessible due to heavy floods.
I'm opening my humble abode to any nearby friends who are in need of basic assistance to help them get through this safely. Anyone who'd appreciate a hot meal, access to outlets/chargers for your device, or even a change of dry clothes, is welcome. π
Praying for everyone's safety!

So a friend of mine in college had her son's birthday celebration last Saturday. Initially, it was planned/scheduled two weeks earlier, but they have decided to reschedule due to the circumstances that #CarinaPH brought to Manila and Bulacan. I confirmed the first date; however, since I was exhausted by my thesis presentation, I decided to cancel all my plans over the weekend. For context, when she asked for a confirmation. I didn't confirm with the changed schedule; I assumed that someone could already consider this no-show. Well, I made fault with this one. She was furious with me (including some of my friends). She even told me in our group chat that she would leave the GC when her patience went off.

Well, look who's coming. A #tropicalcyclone (called #Carina in the PIs and soon to be named #Nida elsewhere) has formed east of the Philippines and may impact both Luzon and the southern China coast. But where? It will take the weekend to find out more. Looking at various model estimates (not just #hko's here), #hk may be in the mix with a very interesting Tuesday & Wednesday coming up. π·HKO YouTube https://youtu.be/98he1WGpvMA #carinaph #tcnida
