In 2016, when the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) signed a peace agreement with the Colombian government, scientists realized that the rainforests, mountains, and savannahs, out of which the FARC waged a 50-year guerrilla war, and which were counted among the most biodiverse and least-explored places on earth, were suddenly safe to explore.
In Colombia, a few biologists who longed to journey to the heart of these places also saw them as the perfect way to bring 14,000 former guerrillas back into society in a meaningful way that would benefit not only them, but the country’s stunning biodiversity.
Colombia is often referred to as the world’s most biodiverse country. Although this is a hard thing to designate since many species around the world of all kinds remain undiscovered, she does lay claim to the most bird species anywhere on earth – both endemic and migratory.
Who better to help protect Colombia’s wild spaces than those who know them best, thought Jaime Góngora, a wildlife geneticist at the University of Sydney but who is originally from Colombia.
Góngora now leads a group of researchers from the United Kingdom, Australia, and 10 different Colombian scientific institutions in a program to train ex‑guerrillas to study Colombia’s native plants and animals, which to date has uncovered nearly 100 previously-unknown species.
Peace with Nature
Peace with Nature is the result of these scientists working together with guerillas to help protect Colombia’s biodiversity and aid in the post-conflict situation for thousands of people, 84% of whom, according to Góngora, are interested in pursuing, of all things, river habitat restoration as their post-conflict career path.
Góngora and his colleagues are only too happy to help, and Peace with Nature began hosting citizen scientist workshops to help train eager folks how to find, identify, catalogue, and study wild plants, insects, birds, amphibians, and more.
The preparation work was long and hard – between 15 and 18 months according to Góngora...
“In some of the workshops, we have the presence of the police and military forces along with the ex-combatants,” explains Góngora. “I think what has surprised me most is the opportunity that biodiversity offers for reconciliation and healing after an armed conflict. These workshops have been spaces for a respectful dialogue about biodiversity and nature.”"

On November 25th 1835 Andrew Carnegie, was born in Dunfermline.
“To try to make the world in some way better than you found it is to have a noble motive in life.” - Andrew Carnegie
Today I thought we’d look into things we might not know about Andrew Carnegie
So how rich was he really? Well in 2015, the Carnegie Corporation estimated that at his peak wealth, Carnegie was worth $309 billion (accounting for inflation). For comparison, in 2022, Elon Musk is worth about $219 billion, Jeff Bezos is worth roughly $171 billion and Bill Gates comes in at $129 billion.
“To try to make the world in some way better than you found it is to have a noble motive in life.” - Andrew Carnegie
Andrew Carnegie's philanthropic career began around 1870 in his native Dunfermline and ultimately extending throughout the English-speaking world, including the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
In 1887, Carnegie married Louise Whitfield of New York City. She supported his philanthropy, and signed a prenuptial marriage agreement stating Carnegie’s intention of giving away virtually his entire fortune during his lifetime. Two years later he wrote The Gospel of Wealth, which boldly articulated his view of the rich as trustees of their wealth who should live without extravagance, provide moderately for their families, and use their riches to promote the welfare and happiness of others. This statement of his philosophy was read all over the world, and Carnegie's intentions were widely praised.
“The man who dies thus rich dies disgraced.” - Andrew Carnegie
In 1889, Carnegie published The Gospel of Wealth, publicly extolling his beliefs that personal wealth should be distributed for community benefit once your family’s needs were taken care of.
“The problem of our age is the proper administration of wealth, so that the ties of brotherhood may still bind together the rich and poor in harmonious relationship,” - Andrew Carnegie
Want to hear the man himself reading from his Gospel of Wealth check the link below
youtube
In 1911 Andrew Carnegie established Carnegie Corporation of New York, which he dedicated to the “advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding.” It was the last philanthropic institution founded by Carnegie and was dedicated to the principles of “scientific philanthropy,” investing in the long-term progress of our society. Carnegie himself was the first president of the Corporation, which he endowed in perpetuity with his remaining fortune — $135 million — to be used principally to promote education and international peace. While his primary aim was to benefit the people of the United States, Carnegie later determined to use a portion of the funds for members of the British Overseas Commonwealth. For the Trustees of the Corporation, he chose his longtime friends and associates, giving them permission to adapt its programs to the times. “Conditions upon the earth inevitably change,” he wrote in the Deed of Gift, “hence no wise man will bind Trustees forever to certain paths, causes or institutions…. They shall best conform to my wishes by using their own judgment.”
By the time of his death, Andrew Carnegie, despite his best efforts, had not been able to give away his entire fortune. He had distributed $350 million, but had $30 million left, which went into the Corporation’s endowment. Toward the end of his life, Carnegie, a pacifist, had a single goal: achieving world peace. He believed in the power of international laws and trusted that future conflicts could be averted through mediation. He supported the founding of the Peace Palace in The Hague in 1903, gave $10 million to found the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in 1910 to “hasten the abolition of international war,” and worked ceaselessly for the cause until the outbreak of World War I. He died, still brokenhearted about the failure of his efforts, in August 1919, two months after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.
Andrew Carnegie helped give the world Sesame Street -Yes really!
The Carnegie Corporation provided the American television writer and producer Joan Ganz Cooney with the funds to develop Sesame Street and the Children’s Television Workshop. According to Sherrie Westin, executive vice president of global impact and philanthropy at the Sesame Workshop, “Sesame Street literally would not be here were it not for the bold vision and audacious philanthropy of the Carnegie Corporation.”
The iconic saguaro cactus is named after him, the plant, which is found only in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona and Mexico, can live as long as 200 years and grow to be 45 feet tall. Its scientific name, Carnegiea gigantea, is a nod to Carnegie’s philanthropic contribution to botany: The Carnegie Institution, founded in 1902, helped establish the Desert Botanical Laboratory in Tucson in 1903.
One of Carnegie's major philanthropic efforts included donating 7600 of the instruments to churches across the United States. He also oversaw the installation of the 8600-pipe organ at Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh in 1895 and had pipe organs in his homes in New York and Scotland.
In keeping with his wealth philosophy, Carnegie left his wife Louise a small amount of money, as well as their properties in Manhattan and Scotland, when he died. His only child, a daughter named Margaret, received nothing but a small trust. She eventually had to sell the family townhome because it was too expensive to maintain. But that was it—the rest of his immense wealth went to his charitable causes and endowments.
You might think that that would cause some resentment on the part of his heirs, but they apparently all agreed to the arrangement well before Carnegie passed away.

So I feel like it's time to spread a little Jewish love, old school style!
Here's a little bit of history that I just found out about while researching something else!
Spotlight: Jewish Fighters!
From left: Bummy Davis and the wrestlers Max Krauser and Martin Levy.
Ever hear of a “Knak” (A hard punch), a “Shtaysl” (uppercut), and “Der gubernator” (Jabbing one’s thumb into a foe’s rib cage)? These are all Yiddish terms used for moves in boxing and wrestling.
Jews, who had been denied most labor jobs and limited to desk work or small jobs, were often seen as scrawny, small, and weak. The intense studious life of studying Torah and furthering their education also left them stereotyped as intellectual book nerds in glasses that would be knocked over in a gentle breeze.
What people don't think of is street smart men with fists of steel.
“[...] but there was always an element of the working class that was tough and street smart and worked with their hands and fought with their hands.” -(Eddy Portnoy, creating of the exhibit at Yivo Institute)
Let’s head back to the 1930s and 1940s when Jewish immigration from Russia and Europe was reaching a peak. Families fled the growing violence and antisemitism and their children faced a new world and the need to assimilate into this new culture.
Boxing became an escape that grew among the Jewish community and quickly gained popularity.
"Zionist and political organizations sponsored boxing and wrestling clubs, and after World War II there were boxing clubs in the refugee camps set up by the Allies."
Several became big names that became well known in most homes.
Jews became the dominating nationality in professional prizefighting during the 30s and 40s. There were 26 Jewish world champions!
Many wore the Star of David on their robes and trunks as a way to represent their Jewish heritage and defy Antisemitism.
Al "Bummy" Davis, born Albert Abraham Davidoff was born in Brooklyn. As a kid, he kept lookout for his father, who sold whiskey during prohibition.
He turned into one of the toughest kids in his area. While his brothers fell into work with the local gang, not even the gang would mess with him.
The name 'Bummy' was actually from his Hebrew nickname "Vroomeleh" given to him by his mother (diminutive of Avrum) that was picked up as Vroomy by his family and friends. Davis apparently was not really a fan of it.
He was known as one of the most powerful left hooks in boxing history and won many of his matches with a total knockout hit.
Max Krauser was born in Poland.
His family owned a tannery where he helped haul the animal skins around.
He went to college and majored in science until he attended a wrestling match at his college.
Randomly jumping into the ring, he defeated the German heavyweight and decided to become a professional wrestler.
His mentor was Zishe Breibart (I'll do a piece on him later), a famous strongman that was also Jewish and a hero to millions.
He quickly became a renowned wrestler throughout Europe where he was the Heavyweight wrestling champion from 1935-1938 until the political atmosphere became too much. He moved to Australia then eventually the USA in 1939,
In America, he was known as "Iron-Head Krauser".
Benny Leonard, born and raised in a Jewish Ghetto in Lower East Side Manhattan and son of Russian immigrants, held the world lightweight championship for eight years from 1917-1925! He later turned his boxing career into a film career. ("The Evil Eye" 1920, and "Flying Fists" 1924-25).
Barney Ross (Dov-Ber Rasofsky) was the Son of a Talmudic scholar who barely escaped a pogrom in Belarus. Once in New York, his father was a Rabbi and owner of a vegetable shop in Chicago. Barney became a Talmudic scholar with the goal to teach. When his father was murdered in a robbery, his mother suffered a breakdown, and his younger siblings were placed in orphanages, Barney fell out of religious practice but never lost his Jewish pride.
Barney started running with tough crowds in the ghetto and got into street brawling and running with Al Capone himself!
With the rise of Nazism and Hitler, Barney took a stance against antisemitism and embraced the fact that he was becoming a well known representative of the Jewish community. His song that played when he entered the ring was "My Yiddishe Momma".
He became a world champion in three weight divisions. He was never knocked out and held his title against big time champions. His last match is quite the famous one where he refused to stop the fight despite the fact that he was taking a severe pounding. He refused to go down and was determined to leave the ring on his own feet. He retired with 72 wins, 22 of them were won by knockout!
He joined the Marines in 1942 and despite being told to stay on US soil as a celebrity, he insisted on going into combat where he was awarded the Silver Star.
(Check out his biography- Barney Ross: The Life of a Jewish Fighter, by Douglas Century and his autobiography No Man Stands Alone.)
Martin "The Blimp" Levy was a wrestler that weighed an astonishing 600 Lbs!
He started his early career in a sideshow as the "Fat Man" at Coney Island!
Despite his massive size, he was astonishingly agile. He is known as one of the first "Giants" of wrestling and helped pave the way for others of his size and character.
Rafael Halperin, the son of a Viennese Ultra-Orthodox Rabbi came into the picture when his family fled to Mandatory Palestine to escape antisemitism and violence.
Rafael took up weightlifting and karate along with his intensive Talmudic studies. He moved to the US and became a renowned wrestler that was known for his Talmudic riddles and for his refusal to fight on the Sabbath.
Halperin also helped organize Israel's first Mr. Israel bodybuilders competition.
He wore a blue and white wrestling outfit with the Star of David across it. In America, he fought under the name "Mr. Israel" and "The Rasslin' Rabbi".
In Israel, he is credited with popularizing professional wrestling.
After he retired from wrestling, he became a Rabbi.

John Willie : A Bizarre Life (books, 2024)
.
By Jane Garrett
"With his iconic art and the groundbreaking content of his Bizarre magazine, John Willie is perhaps the person most responsible for introducing fetish style to the mainstream. Illustrated with examples of John’s work, this in-depth exploration shines the spotlight on the man behind the drawings of buxom beauties and the photographs of expertly executed erotic bondage, delving into• his early life from his 1902 birth in England as John Coutts through his education, military service, immigration to Australia, and employment as a seaman and laborer;• the chance encounter with a network of high-heel fetishists that incited John’s discovery of his community and his calling in the world of erotic art;• his relationship with model, wife, and muse Holly Faram;• his move to the United States and his place in the mid-20th-century fetish scene populated by artists, publishers, editors, and models such as Charles Guyette, Robert Harrison, Edythe Farrell, Irving and Paula Klaw, Bettie Page, and Eric Stanton;• the debut of his groundbreaking Bizarre magazine in 1946, through which he created a space for like-minded people to share and celebrate fantasies—from high heels and cross-dressing to blindfolds and bondage—that the mainstream world found “bizarre”;• his career-long struggles against the forces of governmental oversight;• and how the murders by so-called “Glamour Girl Killer” Harvey Glatman—who posed as a bondage photographer to lure his victims—helped spur John’s eventual disillusionment with the world of fetish art he helped build.Ahead of his time, John's influences can still be seen in the worlds of art and fashion, and he was an advocate for freedom of expression in dress, gender identity, and sexuality—issues that are still hotly debated today. Drawing heavily from John’s extensive interactions with researchers at the Kinsey Institute, Garrett provides a close-up portrait of the artist whose ideas have fed the erotic fantasies of generations of people.Size: 6.0in x 9.0in | Pages: 176 | 61 color & b/w imagesBinding: HardbackISBN: 9780764368332"

Greta Garbo - The Face of the Century
Greta Garbo (born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson in Stockholm, Sweden on 18 September 1905) was a Swedish-born actress who built her global appeal on a carefully maintained mystique during her short career. Called "The Face of the Century," she is regarded as one of the Hollywood's greatest beauties.
Garbo was born into a poor family and dropped out of school at 13 to take care of her father. His death deeply affected her and promised to make a life for herself that was void of financial hardship.
Following her father's death, Garbo worked as a salesperson at PUB department store. After modeling for the store's catalogues, she earned a more lucrative job as a fashion model, which led to a role in her first film in 1922.
She then earned a scholarship at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy, where she met Finnish director Mauritz Stiller, who became her mentor. Louis B. Mayer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer wanted Stiller in Hollywood. The director agreed to a contract with one condition: Garbo. Reluctantly, Mayer inked her a deal, too.
She made her first MGM film in 1926, and by 1928, had become MGM's highest box-office star with A Woman of Affairs. She followed it up with several more hits, including Camille (1936). Her career slowed down in the 1940s and retired at 35.
After retiring, Garbo declined all opportunities to appear onscreen, shunned publicity, and led a private life. She died, aged 84, in a New York, as a result of pneumonia and renal failure.

When it comes to Australia’s national regulators, women rule.
Women now dominate the leadership of federal regulatory and oversight agencies that enforce rules for business and the economy, with 33 women holding chief executive or chair roles. This signals a profound shift for the nation’s top watchdogs, once almost solely the domain of male enforcers.
Rapid digitisation and rising globalisation are making traditional black letter enforcement approaches less effective, leading to women with so-called solid soft skills, such as influence, collaboration and communication, winning top-tier regulatory roles.
Women are now at the front line of the battles against scams, identity and data theft, cyber ransomware attacks, electronic espionage, digital surveillance, misinformation, social media abuse and dark web criminality.
“It’s very different to the skills base you needed a decade or two ago where it was just about telling people what to do, and they would toe the line,” says Ann Sherry, a former head of the Office of Status of Women in the Hawke and Keating governments.
“Those jobs were filled by a particular sort of person cast as a regulator. So, in a way, it was almost an enforcement role, whereas the jobs have changed.”
The leadership of the federal public service reached gender equilibrium last year.
Sherry, who is now QUT chancellor and chairs Queensland Airports, digital marketing firm Enero and UNICEF Australia, says that the public sector has been better at promoting women through the ranks but that many women have also built relevant skills in the private sector.
“Many women have had to broaden their careers and build a broad set of skills to be successful. There is now a body of capability to draw up. The talent pool has changed, and the jobs require broader skills. It is a confluence of events,” she says.
The surge in women leading federal regulators compares with 19 women (10 per cent) chairing ASX200 companies and 26 women (9 per cent) who are CEOs across the ASX300, as at the end of 2023.
Competition chief Gina Cass-Gottlieb and Reserve Bank of Australia governor Michele Bullock (who also chairs the Payments System Board) are the first women to lead their institutions. Others, such as media watchdog Nerida O’Loughlin and energy regulator Clare Savage, have won second appointments.
A push to bring in new blood from outside the Australian public service helped veteran NSW regulator Elizabeth Tydd win an appointment as head of the Australian Information Commission. Carly Kind was tapped from a London think tank to be the new privacy commissioner.
They join a swag of women now overseeing vast swaths of the economy, including infrastructure (Gabrielle Trainor), aviation (Pip Spence), food (Sandra Cuthbert), petroleum (Sue McCarrey) and fisheries (Helen Kroger).
Others such as Rachel Noble (espionage), Julie Inman Grant (e-safety), Jayde Richmond (anti-scams centre) and Michelle McGuinness (cyber co-ordinator) are focused on rapidly emerging harms, including national security threats, identity and data theft, consumer abuse, online scams and fraud.
Workplace and safety regulators are now dominated by women too, including Anna Booth (Fair Work Ombudsman), Joanne Farrell (Safe Work Australia), Jeanine Drummond (maritime safety), Natalie Pelham (rail safety) and Janet Anderson (aged care).
The dominant role female regulators play has been part of a profound shift in the number of women in leadership roles in the Australian government. This has risen from a quarter of executive roles being held by women 20 years ago to over 50 per cent last year.
Battle ready
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb, who rose through the ranks as a competition lawyer at law firm Gilbert and Tobin, says her generation of leaders had battled their way through male-dominated workplaces.
“In those workplaces, to get ahead, we needed to target the areas we thought were most important to make an intervention and where we could most effectively make an impact.
“We actually had to build skills to succeed, which are beneficial skills in these roles.”
Ms Cass-Gottlieb says women have also had to differentiate themselves. “You needed to point to other ways of working, including creative and different solutions that drew from experience in various areas rather than a pure step-by-step standard career path.”
Australian Information Commissioner Tydd points to Columbia University research that measured creativity by analysing songs, finding that women created more songs than men.
“Digital government requires a creative use of proactive tools to identify and mitigate future harm. It’s the unforeseen or latent harms that are the most refractory and so we’ve got to look at diagnosis and predictive tools, and that’s where you start to get a bit creative.”
Tydd says she was attracted to regulatory work because of the value of promoting open government, transparency and accountability.
“I think that seeking service and purpose orientation are factors that drive people into this work and I do think seeking service is a very comfortable and well-established motivation within women.”
Demand for new approaches
According to ANU Crawford School of Public Policy director Professor Janine O’Flynn, the data on the importance of public motivation for women is mixed. However, she suggests that women’s more attuned risk and relationship skills help them to be more effective regulators.
“We certainly know that the most effective models of regulation are around how you can think about risk and how you build relationships with the parties that have been regulated.
“I don’t mean that in a sort of dodgy way. The higher the trust relationships you can get between regulators and those who are regulated, the more likely you are to get the outcomes that you’re looking for.”

Happy Birthday actor Colin Friels born 25th September 1952 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire.
Not a weel kent face on these shores, but Colin is well known in Australia where he has won awards for his work.
Colin’s mother was a mill worker and French polisher, and his father a carpenter.the family lived in Kilbirnie until 1963, when they emigrated to Australia, arriving in Darwin, Northern Territory before settling in the Melbourne suburb of Bentleigh. He worked as a bricklayer's labourer before studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), graduating in 1976.
Friels career began as a presenter on the Australian version of the long-running children’s series Play School before going on to star in may antipodean TV series and films, the most famous of his roles was as Detective Senior Constable Frank Holloway in the crime drama Water Rats. His biggest film role was alongside Billy Connolly in The Man Who Sued God. Australians will also know Colin from the series of TV movies Blackjack, as Jack Kempson.
Often appears in films opposite his wife Judy Davis, including Hoodwink, Kangaroo, High Tide and The Man Who Sued God
Our Australian friends will also have seen Colin in 2018 as Tony Ballantyne in the excellent series Mystery Road, I recommend the series and two spin off films from it by the way.
Of late Colin has been on the small screen in the latest reboot of the Underbelly series. Based on true events the series depicts the key players in Melbourne's criminal underworld, it’s quite a gritty violent show. He has also appeared in the Aussie thriller movie Interceptor .
Colin has recently been wowing audiences in Australia in the play s Into the Shimmering World, other than that I can see nothing in the pipeline, but am pretty sure something will pop up soon for this talented actor.

Australian Music Vault
[1] [2] Australian Music Vault (2019) [Exhibition] Arts Centre Melbourne, Melbourne. 2017-Present.
The Australian Music Vault – an institution dedicated to the conservation and display of archival materials culturally significant to the music scene in Australia. Located within the Arts Centre in Melbourne, The Australian Music Vault aims to be “a celebration of the Australian contemporary music story – past, present and future” (Australian Music Vault, N.D) and contains several exhibitions which include:
The Real Thing, which focuses on the development of the ‘Australian sound’ from the inclusion of indigenous language and rhythm to well-known genres originating from Australia such as pub rock and aussie hip-hop (Australian Music Vault, 2020). This exhibition focuses on the way music has been influenced by Australian culture, giving “voice to experiences that are both distinctly Australian while somehow universal” (Australian Music Vault, 2020) and how “Australian music has reached across cultural and geographical boundaries to explore new ways of storytelling and reflect an increasingly diverse population” (Australian Music Vault)
The Wild Ones, an exhibition focusing on musicians known for overcoming “social barriers” (Australian Music Vault, 2020) and features artists such as Jimmy Little, Australia’s first indigenous popstar who rose to fame during the 1960s when First Nations people were still yet to be recognised as Australian citizens, and Wendy Saddington who was popular during the 70s for her resilience in a music scene that was male-dominated with the genres of ‘prog rock’ and pub bands (Australian Music Vault, 2020) as well as many other artists. The exhibition also focuses on how artists have improvised and innovated to change or address issues within the industry (Australian Music Vault, 2020)
Agents of Change, which centres around the political side of Australian music where “Australian musicians have long been at the forefront of public debate, addressing concerns and issues that impact society” (Australian Music Vault, 2020). This part of the music vault outlines the numerous times Australian music has been an integral part of a movement such as Helen Reddy’s I Am Woman becoming associated with the Womens Liberation Movement in addition to artists using their career to advocate for indigenous rights like Yothu Yindi and Archie Roach in which their music aims to highlight the suffering and resilience of First Nations people (Australian Music Vault, 2020). However, this exhibition not only focuses on the power of musicians to bring around social change but also the Australian music community, stating how it has come together in times of need like raising money for disaster relief (such as the 1985 East African Tragedy Concert and later Live Aid as well as Wave Aid for the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami and Sound Relief in 2009 after the Black Saturday bushfires) (Australian Music Vault, 2020). The exhibition also brings lights to recent activism within Australia’s music scene with the mention of movements such as Save Live Australia’s Music (SLAM) and Mushroom Group’s Voice for Change in response to “the disenfranchisement if minority and migrant groups” (Australian Music Vault, 2020)
Two Way Traffic is an exhibition that centres around musicians “who have come to call Australia home and those who have made their reputations on the international stage” (Australian Music Vault, 2020). Similar to The Real Thing, this exhibition focuses on the international impact of genres originating from Australia albeit more in depth in addition to how international influence has helped to shape the Australian music scene we see today. It also has an emphasis on ‘Ten Pound Poms’ who were musicians that immigrated to Australia through a government-sponsored programme and includes many big names such as Olivia Newton-John, AC/DC and the Bee Gees (Australian Music Vault).
Overall, The Australian Music Vault proves to be a valuable institution in regard to showcasing the story of the Australian music scene from describing its origins to how Australian music is still internationally loved and represented today. The wide collection of memorabilia, instruments, musician notebooks and posters throughout each exhibition helps visitors gain insight into how many well-loved songs and albums came to be in addition to the importance of music and the power it holds to act on bringing about change within Australia. Fashion also plays a big part in the institution’s collection as many costumes and clothing worn by some of Australia’s most famous musicians can be found throughout every exhibition. These costumes range from outfits worn for music events and award shows, including Chinese-Australian singer Mindy Meng Wang’s costume for the 2021 Music Victoria Awards and the outfit worn by Dami Im when she represented Australia in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm (Australian Music Vault, 2020), to outfits instantly recognisable worldwide such as a costume worn by Kylie Minogue for the music video Come Into My World (2001) and a dress worn by Olivia Newton-John during her ABC TV Special titled Olivia in 1978 (Australian Music Vault, 2020). There are also outfits on display that were worn by artists to provide commentary on social issues such as an outfit worn by Ecca Vandal during her set at the Laneway Music Festival in 2017 (Australian Music Vault, 2020). The collection of the music vault is a prime example of a ‘history’ fashion exhibition in the sense that the fashion holds significance and cultural value in relation to the development of Australian music and music scene over the years – of course, these costumes can be admired for their aesthetical values but their primary function in this exhibition is to showcase what musicians from the country have achieved over the years in addition to contributing to the story being told throughout this series of exhibitions.

Is a Business Management Diploma Your Pathway to Career Success?
Decades ago, the primary focus when starting a business was managing finances. However, today, the landscape has evolved significantly. Now, the focus extends beyond managing finances to overseeing systems and processes for efficiency, navigating diverse client relationships, leading teams to achieve collective goals, and optimizing overall business productivity. While a business leader may naturally acquire some of these skills over time, mastering management requires specialized expertise. This is why many invest their resources in management training courses.
Whether you're an aspiring, new, or seasoned manager, we will explain why investing in a Business Management Diploma is a valuable decision today.
The Value of a Business Management Diploma
A Business Management Diploma is invaluable in today's dynamic business environment that strives for agility, adaptability, and strategic acumen. It provides a comprehensive understanding of key business operations, including finance, marketing, HR, and strategic planning. This credential serves as a springboard for career growth, offering pathways from entry-level positions to executive leadership roles and entrepreneurship. Graduates gain essential skills, leadership development, and networking opportunities, empowering them to excel in diverse professional settings and drive organizational success.
How can you nurture your management expertise?
Continuous learning and skill development are essential for managers to stay effective in their roles within an organization. Undertaking a basic long-term course like a degree or a shorter program such as a diploma or certificate in Management can provide clarity on one's position and responsibilities within the organization. Choosing a reputable academic destination is crucial, with respected institutions in countries like the UK, USA, Australia, and India offering globally recognized degrees using innovative teaching methods. Why should you take the ILM Level 6 Diploma in Management?
Managers are frequently promoted internally or based on industry experience. So, it is not always mandatory to specialize in management.
