See now this fucks. 

It’s a bit of a treat to get a cover like this that’s so BEAUTIFUL and DELICATE and actually include characters not directly involved in the plot anymore. It’s like BONUS ART: Fai and Kamui in a tender and deadly gothic vampire embrace for no particular reason :D 

And we LOVE to see it!

I love the fragile looking archway behind them. It looks very Art Nouveau (I say, guessing. Please correct me) and the pose between Fai and Kamui could EASILY be on a romance novel. And in fact it SHOULD be!

We get some stunning visual contrasts, like the dark sweep of Kamui’s cape looking demonic in nature, like bat wings - which, like, vampire - but the thin white arch behind him ALSO spreads out behind him like it could be wings. Or even better, it forms more of a halo - a complete circle above his head in thin white lines. The contrast in the angelic and the demonic really speak to his role in the narrative a couple of times over; he protected Acid Tokyo but purely out of self interest; he's a dick to everyone, which is frowned upon, but he does it to protect Subaru, which is understandable; he killed Syaoran but he saved Fai; even the act of saving Fai was technically a bad thing, turning him into a vampire, but it was the only way he would stay alive, which was what we wanted! 

That contrast continues into Fai’s pose here as well. He’s within the circle of Kamui’s arms, which is traditionally a place of affection or protection, but here it’s almost predatory with Fai as the prey. There's a clear indication of danger laced throughout every inch of it. Kamui’s nails stretch out in front of Fai in a way that COULD be protective, but also form a cage he will never be able to escape from, and the nail of his index finger trails SO CLOSE to Fai’s throat it could kill him with a slight twitch. The nails of his left hand also trail across the wing of his coat, becoming the traditional veins that you would see in bat wings and completing the metaphor of the monstrous. Fai, too, plays with this dichotomy - his head is tilted upwards towards Kamui, neck exposed, in a pose natural for a lover, or for someone giving access to their neck, like the vampire’s victim he is. The clear shadow across his neck (The ONLY shadow in the cover) shows just how close he is to harm, indicates the exact danger this pose puts him in, and yet we can also see him clutching at Kamui’s arm - not hard but gently, coaxing, guiding. Then again the closer I look I think the line of Kamui’s arm is actually a little bit further to the left, which might indicate that Fai is actually holding his waist, which is even more intimate again. 

All in all it’s FANTASTIC, it’s GORGEOUS, I want this as a gothic creepy tapestry I hang in a castle somewhere while lightning strikes somewhere in the distance.

Oh and the splash text, where is that.

Which slams home the theme on BOTH of these two - how much of their own intended fate they sacrifice for the people they choose to devote themselves to. But, when combined with the art, just how much this devotion and protection can actually add it's own inherent form of danger, even if they aren't aware. Kamui's protectiveness of Subaru is HARDLY balanced after all, and Fai's devotion to Sakura leads his curse to killing her. Then again, you could easily say the same thing for Sakura, who chose to put herself INTO that danger DELIBERATELY to save the people she cared for.

And so the complicated feelings and consequences that come from "protecting" someone continue to swirl around in the moral grey.

HOKKAIDO IN A HEARTBEAT!

Last July,My family and I went to Hokkaido in Japan.

After a long and tiring journey, we finally reached the Land of the Rising Sun. We were greeted by these fragrant fields of lavender.

They were growing at a melon farm in the countryside where i wqas able to taste the sweetest melon ever! The farm had a vast array of plants and flowers.

We traveled for a few hours to reach Shirogane Blue Pond. It was a regular lake, except the water was turquoise and its waters weren’t transparent. It was dusk when we arrived and the looked mystical, with dead birch trees in the middle.

It is summer in Hokkaido and flower fields were in the full bloom! The most famous being Shikisai-No-Oka. Had few pictures on a bench painted to be a cow, then we climbed the small hill to admire the majesty of the field.

A red tractor carried us all throughout the area. I noticed the flowers were lined immaculately producing this visually amazing landscape. We had many great photos as every nook is Instagrammable!

Cape Kamui in Shakotan peninsula is a dramatic mountainous coastline with staggering views over the sea of Japan. We braved that windy day with a few drizzle to explore the place and it sure did not disappoint.

A visit to Otaru would not be complete without a tour to a Glass museum to which this place is know for. All of the pieces were beautiful. My Daddy even bought a few good pieces of jewelry for my Mommy.

TOY HAUL!!!!! I am absolutely in love with these capsule machines. Capsule machines are quite popular in Japan and it transcends all age groups.

The next day, we opted to visit Sapooro Art Park. The sculptures were majestic, underneath the canopy of the trees above. Too bad, the scorching heat tired us easily.

Its time to visit Sapporo Tower!!! Unfortunately, we could not go to the upper levels so we made the most of it exploring well manicured gardens and this refreshing fountain around Odori park.

On the way to Otaru! A nice picture of me on the station platform, taken by my mom while we waited for the rapid airport. It was burning hot that afternoon but we made it through the Otaru canal.

Finally, it was time to leave. As s chocolate lover, I was happy to visit the Royce store at Sapporo airport.

Hokkaido, you were wonderful. I hope to be back in the winter and enjoy you more.

Let's be honest, though. Kyouka and Lucy have the most realistic reactions to Atsu's existence in the entire animangaverse of BSD. Like, yeah, I also wouldn't hesitate to stab Ango (even though I love and adore him) and would protect Atsushi no question if it came to a choice (as much as I love to see him de-limbed)

The fact that Ranpo recognized a life he'd saved....I wonder if him telling Poe "I never forget a mystery I solved" was also foreshadowing this moment that shows he remembers every single life he's saved. And now I'm curious if this is a Kunikida parallel. Never forget a life I've killed/life that's been lost vs never forget a life that's been saved. Something something the ADA really does stand up for life over death because it does not dwell on those that have passed, though it does carry their legacy, but remembers everyone they have saved. Every life saved matters and this is the arc that shows that. Life over not just death but prestige and power and all that stuff - maybe we don't know what "life" means just yet, but we know that it take precedence over the things we do to live it

Anyway. How about that season 5 OP?? I can't wait to see the ED's animation!

Yarne had been wandering through the party for a while - the festivities, amazing as they were, were beginning to lose their splendor, and being stuck with someone like Zephia for a majority of it was wearing on him, hard, and fast.

Yarne was starting to tire, eyes drooping as he sat at one of the tables. He sighed, drinking more punch - not from the bowl, thankfully, as he had been advised. But, when he turned his head... No. Surely he had had something in his drink to make him see things. He wasn't going to be here. All signs pointed to it, he looked far and wide, and yet...

"PROFESSOR KAMUI!"

Yarne bolted from his seat. The closest person he could call a friend was here. The hell of the night had been worth it.

"Where have you been? I've almost gone extinct... like 16 times! Please, keep these people away from me!" Yarne hid himself behind Kamui's cape, not a care in the world on if he looked silly or unbecoming in the act.

"What's got you in such a tizzy?" Kamui holds a glass of wine he got from who knows where casually in his hand. Even if he had hardly ever been allowed in the high society of Nohr, he was still a prince and he certainly held himself like one.

He peeks behind his cape, at the nearly grown boy trying to hide back there like he was as small as Kana. It's rather odd, but he supposes it's fine to leave it be. At least for just a little bit. He's not sure if Yarne wanted to see the... less professerly and becoming side of him though.

"That many scary people here? Or are you just in a mood?" Corrin was as much as a older brother as he was a younger one, determined to tend carefully to any stress his juniors around him may have.

"Sorry though, I woke up late. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it to join in the festivities so much later than everyone else. But... ah well. I suppose I've made my appearance. Better late than never!"

There was a panicked gasp as Kamui's eyes widened when he saw Saku throw up and his nose bled. He didn't know what was wrong with Saku which made him even more terrified. He had to hold back his emotions though, at least until he got Saku to a doctor. But for a moment he'd stop and hold him with one hand, then using the other hand to rip off some of his cape to clean up Saku's face.

Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic.

Kamui held him with both arms again, making sure to hurry to the emergency room. Surely they would be able to treat Saku without issue. When it was time for Saku to get checked by the doctor, Kamui would sit there incredibly nervous, his eyes were fixated on Saku, wanting to make sure he didn't miss anything being said.

They live together?! The revelation that he even left the shrine with someone was so short lived. He didn't have time to even think about this before he was scoop up into arms. Eyes widen as he felt the ground leave him in one clean scoop. Being in the arms was like home, being kissed by him was felt right. Though Saku pushed away. Or at least tried.

He wasn't rejecting Kamui. No no the kiss would have been more then welcome. It was rather the sudden movement like that took him over the edge. Since he couldn't escape the strong grip on him Saku was forced to lean far as he can. Throwing up and the combination of a nose bleed as well as confusion of his surrounding made it clear it was a concussion. Emptying his stomach contains away from Kamui he took deep breaths, " I'm sorry. Okay I will go."
