👀…Luka- finding out LB and CN’s identities and then not telling them
Tumblr media
"Thats nothing" | "Ehh Slap on the wrist." | "Thats Questionable" | "It was accidental." | "Morally Gray." | "Yea... thats kind of Bad." | "Thats hard to justify." | "Thats Really F***ed up." | "How is this character not a Villain?!" | "Cancelled." | "Cancelled BEYOND Cancelled."
The thing is, its not really the fact he didnt tell them that made it bad. Its that he LIED about finding out to Ladybug. I would put it higher but he does (albiet later) tells Ladybug the truth. But its pretty effed up

So, having not actually watched the end of season 4 for Outer Banks, nor will I ever, I will simply go off what people said happened - and fix it.
“I can’t find a pulse!” John B cried, his fingers jammed underneath JJ’s chin, two fingers pressed against the side of his neck as JJ’s head lolled to one side.
“Did you even take first aid?!” Pope demanded, and shoved John B out of the way. He put his fingers against JJ’s carotid, searching for a beat.
“I was just doing that!”
“You had your fingers on a tendon, not an artery,” Pope corrected. Please be there, please...he pressed against JJ’s still warm skin with bruising force, promising an apology when they got JJ to a hospital. “I got it!”

haysilee + prompt: fingers in mouth
- - - - - - - - - - ✂ prompt under the cut:
content warning: not sugesstive but it's awkward. so! don't like don't click. anna forces me to write at her leisure 2k24.
At his instruction, Maysilee holds still. Blood wells up through the bitten side of her cheek, and the metallic taste gushes in a small tide-pool of red. If it wasn't for Haymitch's fingers, re-wrapped in bandages previously by her own hands which openly examined the bleeding flesh, she'd bite down on her tongue at the intrusion. A testament to her boundaries and what she happens to allow in the living degradation of the Games. Stooping low enough to meet hell, and lower still. She still had time to debate taking a finger or two, albeit sparing him the simple mercy.
“Would your girl approve of her boy poking his fingers in someone else's mouth?” Maysilee finds herself in retort, and the quality of the sound is warbled by the active site of what lay on her tongue, and better yet quieted all together by his hushful sark.
“She's not my girl anymore, and it wouldn't matter. We're both dead out here, and I'd rather you wouldn't choke on your own blood.” His response is smooth, and the merchant girl finds herself racking her brain for when that development came in tow. Haymitch Abernathy, completely single as if there wasn't always a flower blooming open at his dispense; some femine desires always reaching him through glances and cacophonous giggles of flirtation as he moved down academic halls. She can't say it doesn't floor her that the boy was now for the taking, if not for the fact he were one of many tributes sentenced to death. It almost insites a feeling unforeign to her, stirring like a cup of warm brew in her body — the spoon making its reverberating clinks in her head.
“You seem eager to avoid my death.” She mumbles out around him, and he prods the cloth he had slipped in with his two digits against the bite mark, just about shutting her up.
“Yeah, well. You're all I've got out here, so your best bet is to keep quiet and at least avoid being decently bled out. You nearly bit a chunk out of yourself there.” It'd sweet her, if it wasn't for the caustic sounding croon he held, which writhed with kindness and affection riding its coattails in some place. If she had a mirror, Maysilee could bet all of her hereditary dimes that her face was ruddy with some sort of appreciation at his honesty, growing ever so ruptured with blush as he finally moves his fingers away, allowing her to cradle the cloth to the internal injury herself.
A last spot of blood makes a droplet right by the corner of her smile line, and as if automated by some drive, she feels a thumb wiping the carmine away, and grey eyes trained on her being.
It was foolish, the sickening feeling welling up inside of her as she turned away from him, still holding her half of an apple he willingly shared with her at his own expense, now branded by bites of shallow gore. But she was greatful, and could at least tick off another tally on her internal scoreboard: Maysilee, II — and his girl back home, none.

Au where quirks exist ever since the beginning of humanity but thought the last 200 years they started becoming rarer for no explainable reason
"for no explainable reason"? Not "because someone born two hundred years ago started eating them all"? Well, both can be true I suppose
1- humans have always had quirks so just go ahead and disabuse yourself of the idea that world history looks anything like ours now. Any boundaries humans have drawn between themselves or their spaces are totally different. Anyway, our story is set on the island nation of Akitsuba, which has begun to receive reports of children who are born without quirks- it seems impossible, but apparently the child born in Canton Province to two glowing parents but had no light himself was not the result of an affair. He is genetically both his parents child - just, without any unique plus alpha factor at all.
2- when the news breaks, Setsuji looks over at his twin brother. The two stay in a group home, and on the record, they have a spike quirk, just like their mother did before she died at their birth. In truth, Setsuji can take others quirks. He assumes he took his brother's in infancy, which why the boy can't use them, but now he wonders if his brother was in fact simply born without. He doesn't say anything, but his brother does- whispering it at night, apologizing for assuming his brother took it all this years ago and refused to even try to return it, but there's simply nothing to return, is there?
3- more people are born quirkless over time, and more people lose their quirk to AfO over time. Ujiko theorizes that quirks would get too strong, so both quirklessness and AfO are evolutions to prevent plus alpha self destruction. That is, sadly, a generous view- quirklessness is largely viewed as a horrible strange disability, and suddenly quirks become more important. Few people before had jobs that specifically used their quirks, but now no one wants to be mistaken for not having one. Many people campaign to treat and 'fix' quirklessness, trying to force activate one, study and prevent it, etc. Just go ahead and assume all the terrible things that can happen with this mindset, it all happened.
4- by the time of canon, however, quirklessness has been around for two hundred years, and it isn't going away- clearly the opposite. about half the population of the world has no quirk, and the number's hanging around 45% in Akitsuba when our main character, Akatani Mikumo is born. He's quirkless, and lives in the capitol of Higakyou, as schools there are required by law now to no longer require certain or any quirks. It's an election year, so his first semester of high school all anyone can do is talk about the candidates- especially Yagi Toshinori, a bit of a symbol for quirkless politicians and one people thought would run years ago. Mikumo, who helped Yagi carry groceries home one day and didn't recognize him outside of the bright suit, camera lights, and makeup, makes friends with a few kids at school. (Ochako, and the twins Tokoyami Fumikage and Kuroei- while the latter has a quirk, the former does not).
5- Then one day, Yagi is kidnapped, vanishing on live tv through a smokey warp. Mikumo doesn't know what to think about that, until he runs into the man on his way home from school- clearly in bad shape, with strange dark eyes that glow with some quirk he shouldn't have. Mikumo helps Yagi hide, and asks what happens, and how he can help. (AfO decided to end Yagi's use as a symbol by forcing a quirk on him and controlling him, but one of his brother's successors managed to break Yagi out first and give him his brother's quirk, allowing him to fight against AfO's quirk and withstand them safely. As for what Mikumo can do to help... he's done far more than he should already, a kind boy, but that answer isn't going to be good enough for him- he's determined to do more anyway.)

1 the character everyone gets wrong GLS CELE guys he's not soft boi he's a fucking maranza with a 3 IQ and coming from a fuckass microscopic town in Piemonte, he's weird and he probably faked having had sex before he actually had it
7 what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them? ...well I did say I was gonna get blocked so uh Quartararo, sorry but some of y'all are just fucking insufferable
13 worst blorboficiation there's uhm. MANY about Bez idk which one to choose, but probably when he's portrayed as spineless os is characterized only as a simp and doesn't actually have a charm of his own

Hornblower: Math Dad Edition, please!
Oh boy, this one is some version of Hornblower Math Professor Modern AU which is a very extended universe that I like to go to in my head when I start getting too horrible and depressing with the Hornblower fics, because I have decided that while Hornblower may be possibly more miserable as a Math Academic he is at least married to Bush which makes some things better. This particular episode is him generally having a nice day with Bush and Richard but also, because he is Hornblower, having a breakdown because his (4-year-old) son doesn't want to start learning topology and how will he set him up for the possibility of a career in math academia if he doesn't start at 4 years old (he doesn't even want him to go into math academia, he's just worried that if he does then he will forever resent Hornblower for not setting him on the path to win the Fields Medal at the age of 20, thereby protecting him from a mid-level position teaching calculus at a random university in Kent). This of course is all completely ridiculous but what Hornblower brainmonologue is not...Needless to say, it does all work out in the end, and is all-around a general silly little story that is mostly fluff.

Cancel game: Kagami for telling Felix Ladybug's identity behind her back.
I mean sure Kagami was never told Ladybug’s identity and ladybug never told her to keep it a secret. But it really wasn’t her secret to tell. So I say it’s a bad look. Not awful but still kind of bad

Alas, I have nothing new to Limits, buuuuuuuuuuut I do have parts to How Everyone Met Thanks to JJ (as of yet untitled Origin of the Pogues fic) :-D
Nobody ever remembered when exactly JJ and John B went from being strangers to BFF’s. As far as anyone was concerned, they were always two halves of a whole idiot - where one was, the other wasn’t far behind.
Well. Nobody, except John B.
There used to be two schools on the island. One on the Cut, and one in Figure Eight. The normal excuses were made - long bus rides, unfair grading curves, lack of space - to keep the kids separated, but everyone knew the real reason.
Nobody from Figure Eight was going to put money into a school where their precious children, in their polo shirts and pristine white shorts and shoes that cost more than cars, could rub elbows with kids who occasionally didn’t even have running water and were on a first name basis with the CPS agent.
But, budget cuts and a declining poverty-level population - not because anyone from the Cut was getting richer, but they moved on when they kept getting bought out by the Figure Eight crowd - the Cut’s school was shuttered, closed, and demolished over the course of one summer, and the kids from the Cut were shuttled in to Figure Eight’s Kildare County Prep in a single bus that coughed and belched diesel smoke like it was auditioning as a prop piece in the Mad Max franchise, and rattled down the unpaved county roads at speeds that suggested the driver wasn’t sure he wanted to live to see tomorrow.
John B’s stop was last, given he lived the furthest away from the bridge, on the north end of the island in the Chateau with his dad, and by the time he was picked up, some seats were occupied three kids deep, with the exception of the seat furthest to the rear. The younger kids were supposed to sit up front where the driver could keep an eye on them, but nobody took him seriously when he threatened to call their parents or report them to the office. Not even the driver himself.
Which is how he wound up next to JJ Maybank, crammed into a seat not meant for two people, gripping the back of the seat in front of him with white knuckles as they were bounced into the air every time the bus hit a pothole, while JJ shouted for the driver to loop around and do it again.

🔥 fanfiction
the distinction between what does and does not constitute ‘fanfiction’ is almost entirely dependent on site of publishing/identification as such on the part of the author. whilst ‘dante’s inferno is fanfiction’ is an incorrect statement because it misunderstands the relation between the commedia and its plethora of source materials & misattributes this relation to what is in fact a contemporary phenomenon that exists relative to the rise of IP, this is v rarely the terrain that people are fighting on because the ‘is/is not fanfiction’ property is applied as a metric of quality rather than a value-neutral statement about the political economy of a prose text. (ie. inferno/the commedia is ‘not fanfiction’ because it’s Good—under a particular metric which defers to hegemony—your 400k destiel coffee shop omegaverse au etc etc could Never be dante because it lacks an intellectual quality with which dante has been imbued—do you see what i mean about quality being the qualifying metric here, rather than the actual nature of the text? plausibly, under this framework, someone could write fanfiction of a quality sufficient to transcend the category of ‘fanfiction’ and become, in fact, ‘canonical.’ by this logic, there exists a scale of objective ‘quality’ running from ‘fanfiction’ to ‘canonical’ such that that is what those categories describe. like, you see why this is incoherent.) anyway, these are silly terms to fight on & i think key to an actual politics of literature (far beyond this v parochial argument) is interrogating all the assumptions about meritocracy + artistic value + particular forms of ‘publishing’ as legitimising or delegitimising a work that seem to be making up the base of this discourse whilst managing to go totally uninterrogated.
also, it’s very weird that people treat fanfiction as a wholly discrete category completely shut off from the critical practices we bring to our understanding of what gets called ‘real’ literature (which is in itself a very poorly thought-out umbrella). fanfiction does have significant reactionary currents running through its attached culture and it’s dishonest and lazy to try and dismiss that fact, but there exists a particular cognitive dissonance which jumps from here to the idea that the way we ought to think about ‘difficult’ subject matter in our ‘real’ literature (as deployed to a particular end that could look like any number of things far beyond the boundary of tacit or explicit endorsement; as potentially unethical in its depiction, but also as potentially thoughtful and discursive and ethically viable) has no crossover into how we can think about fanfiction. the idea that fanfiction alone is a discrete category in which everything depicted makes for a 1:1 articulation of the real-life ethics of the author with no possible room for ambiguity of the kind that we allow other forms of prose fiction is as silly as saying that lolita is sufficient evidence for vladimir nabokov having been a pedophile, and leaves us with a stupidly limited and pretty easily refutable scope for what fanfiction actually is and does.
that being said, hot take #3 is that people interested in fanfiction & how it can be situated within a discourse of literary criticism & production need to be prepared to actually address the fact that the culture around it can be vv reactionary, most often racist, and decrying all criticism as coming from quote-unquote “antis” (silly term) or as people trying to project “moralism”/“puritanism” onto a fandom space is itself also racist.

You've made me mad with power. Director's Cut of "I Spit On Your Grave", please.
Obviously I wanted -- no, needed -- to write a fic where Stede finds out what actually happened with Izzy while he was gone.
It is a key aspect of my Bad Ending fic in case I never make it through to where you are that Stede does NOT know, because I think otherwise he would have actually killed Izzy in that fic. I had a lovely long conversation with my therapist about that, both that fic generally and this question of knowing what was done to someone you love who is gone. Because HOOBOY did s2 kick up all my feelings about Ryn's parents, especially their mother; there was a piece of information that I found out after Ryn died that made me so angry I did seriously have a full-blown panic attack about it.
So yeah, I was always going to write something, but part of my writing process especially with shorter works is that I need a hook, something to get me into it -- an image or a sentence, something concrete to pull together whatever messy ideas have been spinning around in the blender.
And of course, I might have written it sooner (and it would have been a different fic) but I did break my leg right before Christmas, and that basically took me out not just physically but also mentally for about two months. I actually started making some notes in late January but I didn't have any stamina to do the writing until late February.
I knew the hook was going to be a bit back from the actual harm -- I've been fascinated by this question of how Izzy never says that "his captain" is actually Blackbeard since way back in my first watches of the show, and then there's kind of a running joke around here about how Stede always leads describing the meet-cute with "so I'd been gut-stabbed" like babygirl what. And the phrase "just happened upon our ship" or whatever that is, when MY DUDE HE'S BEEN FOLLOWING YOU THIS WHOLE TIME. The whole thing has this mix of Izzy having been lying through his teeth and Stede being hilariously oblivious that cries out for something to dig into.
And then I saw this post by @iamadequate1, and OH OKAY. Because weaponized therapy language and isolation in emotional abuse is something that, well. Yeah. Plus it had all the relevant bits of dialogue in one post! Plus I'd been thinking about Izzy as an unreliable narrator for almost two years, and I'd been thinking specifically about people with uhhhhhh a "flexible relationship with the truth" (to use a line from the fic), and a tendency to say different things to different people in order to evade responsibility.
So I made some notes, according to the document history at the end of January, and then probably either went back to sleep or back to watching Perry Mason. Came back to it in late February, and the first two-thirds or so came together pretty quickly and then I got stuck. I knew I wanted something with Stede yelling at the grave, but I'd sort of written myself into a corner where that didn't seem to be happening. (Basically, got to the point where he holds Ed while Ed is crying.)
And then I saw THIS post by @celluloidbroomcloset, and something clicked together about "doggie heaven" and the parallel with Ned Low, and somehow that was the rug that tied the room together. Probably because also they're both dead, Izzy and Ned, and that leads to this question of the impossibility of revenge, and that so much of the time there's just nothing you can do, really, and that also hurts. Even if they're not dead; there's just no point, like what the fuck are you gonna do, exactly? Which is sort of where the Mary parallel comes in, I think, and also not giving Izzy credit for bringing them together, because that's all them.
All in all this is a really special fic for me, trying to find this balancing point where things are pretty good for them, actually, but they still need to work through their respective hurts and be properly seen -- fill in all the blanks so they can move forward.

Tumblr media
it's not humiliation ritual you can stop thinking Pecco only has the mood "depressed rat" and actually form in your little brain he has more emotions than humiliation and sadness and that that was a temporary farewell to the number and its meaning THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK
8 common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about Marc being this fucking angel and always right and Vale being the demonic cruel entity, people have faces and different layers of emotions and behaviors, grow up
12 the unpopular character you actually like and why more people should like them I don't know if I can consider him "unpopular" but Mig. He got back up and made a podcast where riders can talk about LOTS of things, not only racing, but struggles and everyday life too, he got under appreciated and honestly he deserves more, he's not just the academy shadow, maybe sometimes he feels like it but he's not, to me he's kinda the structure keeping the academy up
16 you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon ...) I don't get how people can think Cele is a soft boy, like really, look at him please, it's not that hard to understand he's EVERYTHING but that. And secondly how Bez is portrayed as spineless. Am I repetitive? yeah, but maybe this is the only way to make some people get it :)
