“Okay,” Eddie says. The crowd outside the toned windows of the limousine has been getting thicker, which means they must be there soon. “Lemme get this straight again.” 

Steve, seated opposite him and looking both stupidly at ease and infuriatingly handsome in his tailored suit, chuckles.

“You’re talking about your tie, right? Because you’ve been tugging on it again.” 

Eddie groans and attempts to right the dreaded thing. It feels like trying to strangle himself. 

“Very funny, you asshole,” he grouses, but Steve doesn’t rise to the insult, just continues to observe his struggle with fond amusement. “I'm talking about this wedding. Why do we need to- … I mean, how are you related to these people again?” 

“Here, let me,” Steve mutters, leaning over and swatting Eddie’s hands away so that he can straighten the tie for him. “You know my cousin?” 

“Yeah,” Eddie says. “The Duchess of What’s Her Face. Met her at a fundraiser once. Major bitch, please don’t tell me it's her getting married.” 

“No, that’s my father’s niece,” Steve laughs, markedly not correcting him on the major bitch part. “This is my mother’s side of the family.” 

“Ah, the banker and entrepreneur side,” Eddie says. He tries to fiddle with his rings, but they’ve made him leave most of them at home. “Much better.”

“Hey,” Steve says. “Try to look at it from the positive side. You won’t have to remember any titles. There'll probably also be less cameras.” 

Silence drops. The car slows down as they pass another security checkpoint. 

“Hey,” Steve says. His hands settle on Eddie’s shoulders, featherlight and familiar. “Hey, look at me.” 

Eddie does. 

“You don't have to do this,” Steve says. His eyes are serious, his brow furrowed. “I can get out of this car alone and tell the driver to bring you home, and nobody will need to see you like this.” 

“Wow,” Eddie scoffs. “You can tell you've been trained in diplomacy. That's the nicest way anyone has ever told me I looked like shit.” 

Steve drops a chaste kiss to his lips, just as the car stops. “I never said that. I know it's not your favorite type of event, though. Or your favorite type of people. I don't ever want to force you into-” 

“Hey,” Eddie interrupts him. “You're not forcing me. I chose this. I chose you. And for the record, I know I look fantastic in this thing.” 

Steve hums, a low sound that settles heavy in Eddie’s abdomen. The driver’s door shuts and steps approach. An excited chorus of voices swells outside. The goddamn press, eager to catch a photo of him making a complete ass of himself on his first royal engagement. 

“You know when you'll look even better?” 

Eddie flinches back to attention. “Huh?” 

The door swings open. A storm of flashing cameras breaks loose.

Steve smiles, bright and professional. His voice is so low Eddie needs to strain to catch it. 

“When we get back to the hotel and I take it off you.”

“There he is!”

Eddie turns to see the bride swooshing towards him in a flurry of white skirts, her new husband trailing on her heel like an eager puppy. He casts a nervous glance over his left shoulder, then one over his right, but Steve is nowhere to be seen. 

“Eddie Munson,” the bride says, coming to a stop in front of him and taking a generous sip of her champagne. “The rock star who bagged the crown prince. Every eligible person in this room either wants to be you or kill you, you know that?” 

“Yeah well,” Eddie says, taking in the mean curl of her mouth and the sharp glint in her eyes. “Good thing you're not eligible anymore, I guess.”

Her face twitches and her hand grips the glass a little tighter. 

“Carol,” says her husband, smile sharp. “Don't tease him. He must have it hard enough. The backlash from his fans, the media claiming that this is just a rebellious phase Steve is going to grow out of soon. I imagine it can't be easy.” 

“Ah, you know how the press are,” Eddie says. “Better not to listen to them. Steve and I are in this for the long haul. We're planning on making it work.” 

The bride quirks a brow. “Well, good luck with making that white dress work at your wedding.” 

And Eddie wanted to behave, he really did, but what can he do when served a cue like this?

“Bold to assume I'll be the one wearing the dress.” 

Silence drops. The bride and groom gape at him. A scandalized murmur runs through the assembled bystanders, and fuck, when did they gain an audience?

“Um,” Eddie says. “Listen, that was-”

“There you are!” Steve exclaims, materializing out of nowhere and taking him gently by the shoulder. “Tommy, Carol, I'm so sorry, but we need to get going. Early start tomorrow, you know how it is. Beautiful wedding, congrats again.” 

And then Eddie’s being pulled out the doors and into the venue's lush garden, past a crowd of gawking wedding guests. 

“I can't believe you said that.” 

Eddie is already drawing a breath to apologize, but then it dawns on him that it's not rage that's making Steve’s voice shake. It's laughter. Steve's hand, against all rules of propriety and protocol, has slipped into his. 

“Told you I'd be a disaster at this,” he shrugs, and Steve snorts. 

“Ah, they deserved it. We can deal with the fallout tomorrow.” 

“Oh?” Eddie smirks as the limousine rolls to a stop before them and the driver jumps out to open the door for them. “Is this the part where you take me to the hotel and-”

“Oh no,” Steve says, and pulls him inside. His eyes are sparkling. “Change of plans. You're fucking me in the car.” 

And who's Eddie to disregard a royal order?

minjae — a designer bag with tickets to an all included holiday and lingerie set.

minjae likes to spoil you. he has since the day he met you and he will till the day he dies. he wants you to feel taken care of and pampered, because you’re his princess and no one could ever change that.

“here, open this one next” he says as he hands you a large box with a bow sitting proudly in the middle. you couldn’t help but smile at how giddy he looked, feeling your heart be invaded by warmth. 

you opened the box and let out a small gasp at the sight of the very expensive looking bag. your eyes darted towards his face, watching him smile before setting aside the box and throwing your body on his. “it’s so beautiful, thank you jae”

he smiled wider and held you close to him, leaving a kiss on your cheek before speaking again “there’s more, look inside of it”

you gave him a questioning look before reaching for the bag, staying in your place between his legs as you looked inside of it. the first thing you took out was a small silk bag which you found to contain a small, beautiful set of pink lingerie.  “oh my god” you laughed softly as you looked at it.

“that one was a little selfish thinking, i have to say” he chuckled from behind you, his arms surrounding your middle as his lips found the span of your neck. 

you shook your head with humor, already itching to reach for the last thing in the bag, a white envelope with your name on it. minjae stopped his kisses as you opened it, feeling a little nervous as to what your reaction would be when you saw the contents of the envelope.

“you’re kidding me” you muttered breathlessly when you took out two plane tickets with both of your names on it “we’re going on a trip?” you asked as you looked back at him. minjae nodded at your words with a sheepish smile, letting himself laugh softly when you basically tackled him in a hug, thanking him profusely as you held onto his body.

it’s safe to say that you both thoroughly enjoyed the trip (and the lingerie).

junmin — a series of your favorite vinyls and a record player.

junmin always makes sure to get you things he knows you’ll love and use. he wants you to feel seen and listened to, so when you told him in passing how much you wanted a record player he knew he had christmas in the bag.

“these two go together,” he said as he handed you two large gifts he pulled from under the tree in your living room, watching you with a soft smile. “you can open whichever you’d like first though”

you nodded, smiling like a little kid as you grabbed the wrapped elements from his hands. you had always loved christmas, but with a boyfriend like junmin the excitement was doubled; tripled even. he always knew exactly what to get you, and you were sure it wasn’t any different this time. 

“wanna guess what it is?” he asked as he watched you with a smile of his own, leaning his body on his hands that rested on the floor. he looked like an insane mix of hot and cute with the christmas pajamas you had made him wear, and it just made the moment all more special.

“uhm… it feels like a briefcase” you said as you touched the wrapped object. what could he have gotten you that came in a briefcase? wait. junmin laughed as your eyes became wide with realization, not even letting seconds pass by before you were tearing the paper open to find a beautiful record player in your hands. “no way… wait, are those-?” you asked without being able to properly form a sentence before grabbing the second gift and unwrapping it to find multiple of your favorite records.

you looked up at your boyfriend with your jaw slack  “baby, that’s all really fucking expensive” you said with surprise laced in your voice.

“you know i don’t care about money as long as you’re happy” he smiled, his eyes twinkling like only they could.

you carefully set aside the things before launching at his body, hugging him tightly “thank you so much, i love you” you muttered, voice muffled on his chest.

“of course, my love, i love you too,” he smiled as he hugged you back.

sumin — brand new customized headphones and phone case that match his.

sumin loves to match with you. it gives him a certain feeling of belonging, it shows others that you two are together and proud of it. so when he has the chance to give you something he made and that matches with something of his, he will take the opportunity.

“i hope you like them” he smiled as he handed you a wrapped box to open.

you thanked him as you grabbed the item, not taking long before you uncovered the headphones he had bought you. you looked up at him with an astonished smile, and he urged you to open it so you could see what was inside.

he felt giddy as he watched you curiously unravel the headphones, mouth falling agape when you saw they were covered in little doodles that were drawn by no other than your own boyfriend. you looked up at him with a smile that made his heart flutter. “they’re so cool, babe, thank you so much” 

he nodded with a proud smile as he reached behind him to grab his own headphones from the coffee table, placing them next to yours “i remembered you told me that you liked mine, so i made it so the drawings matched” he pointed at certain doodles that seemed to complete each other, as well as two little characters who looked like they were having a conversation.

“that’s so cute, i love it, thank you” you smiled and leaned in to kiss his cheek. 

he smiled and stole a peck from your lips before handing you another thing “this one too, go” you gave him a sheepish smile and grabbed the gift, opening it to reveal a phone case of the same style. “that one is matching, too” he revealed as he lifted up his phone, showing you his matching phone case.

you couldn’t contain your excitement as you took your phone case off your phone, popped on the new one and smiled at the sight “you even left a clear part for your phone case” you cooed.

“of course, people have to see my beautiful face,” he shrugged with a smug smile, causing you to chuckle.

jinsik — a music box like the one you had when you were little.

jinsik knows you like the palm of his hand. he loves to know everything about you, especially because of the adorable face you make when he remembers something you had once told him in passing, even if it was something as insignificant as the name of your coworker or something precious like your favorite childhood toys.

“okay, one last one” he smiled as he watched you adorably sitting in the middle of a pile of wrapping paper on your floor. “this one is a little special” 

“all of them are special” you smiled back and made grabby hands at him, waiting for him to give you the last gift of the pile. 

“well, this one is even more special” he insisted, internally cooing at how precious you had sounded and handing you the box.

“i’m sure it is” you said before tearing the paper off, being met with a cardboard box wrapped with bubble wrap. you gave him a questioning look, waiting until he encouraged you to open it to tear it off. jinsik looked at you with anticipation as you finally opened the box, finding a porcelain, pink and gold circular box. you stared at it with your mouth agape before looking at him, finding his soft eyes already on you. “is it what i think it is?” 

he nodded, and you rushed to take it out and admire it, opening it and smiling even harder as you watched the small ballerina spinning inside the box. 

“do you like it? i tried to make sure it was the same as the one you told me about” he said, voice soft as he looked at you expectantly. you met his eyes again, but now yours were filled with tears.

“i love it so much” you said, smiling even through the tears as you cupped the gift to your chest. “it’s perfect”

“aww, don’t cry” he cooed as he opened his arms, waiting for you to settle into his arms so he could run his hand through your hair calmly. “i’m glad you like it”

“thank you so much” you said, wiping your tears away from your cheeks, to which he answered by kissing your forehead.

hyunwoo — a handmade photobook of your relationship along with a polaroid camera.

hyunwoo valued your relationship more than most things in his life. every moment with you was special to him no matter how it was spent. he treasured every second that you were by his side and he always tried to express it, even when sometimes his words weren’t enough.

“you have to bear with me on this one, alright? i really did try” he warned as he pulled two boxes out from under the christmas tree. “this one first, here” he instructed, giving you the biggest gift.

“you know i will love absolutely anything you give me” you said, all smiley because of how adorable you found your boyfriend in that moment and grabbing the object off his hands.

“yeah, but still” he shrugged and waited expectantly as he watched you with a giddy smile, anxious to see what you thought of the gift he had tried so hard with.

you tore the paper quickly, smiling widely at the sight of a baby blue book with both your names on it and your anniversary date on the cover, along with a picture of both of you and a bunch of hearts around it. you opened it to skim the pages, looking at the picture you had taken with a group of friends the day you met, followed by a picture of you on your first date.

“you made this?” you asked, almost breathless as you continued to flip through the pages.

“yeah, it took a lot of cutting and gluing,” he chuckled, watching you fondly even when you weren’t particularly paying attention to him, too engrossed in the book in your hands. “what do you think?”

“baby, it’s beautiful” you smiled as you reached over to him, enveloping him in your arms as you kissed his cheek. “thank you so much”

“of course, i’m glad you like it” he hugged you back, happy that you had liked it as much as he wanted you to. “there’s another one, though, here” he waited until you broke away from him to give you the other box.

you opened it with a smile, letting out a small squeal when you opened it to see the matching baby blue polaroid camera.

“that way we can keep adding to it whenever you want” he smiled, and you went back to his arms, sitting in the middle of his legs and extending the camera. 

“cheese” you exclaimed, smiling widely and making him laugh in perfect timing for the flash to snap.

junghoon — a projector and matching pajama sets.

junghoon loves spending time with you more than anything in the world. his favorite time in the day was going home to curl up in bed with you and watch all your favorite movies, and he knew it was yours too.

“this one first” junghoon spoke as he handed you a gift, letting you open it while he looked at you silently. he didn’t want to miss a single second of your excited reactions to the gifts he got you.

“thank you, my love” you smiled as you grabbed it from him, opening it quickly to find the fluffiest, most comfy looking pair of hello kitty pajamas you had ever seen in your life “oh my god, it’s so cute”

“i got matching badtz-maru ones, since you always say he reminds you of me” he commented with a small smile.

“i love it, thank you so much” you smiled as you folded the pajamas once again, already thinking of how adorable you two would look with matching sanrio pajamas.

“this one is kind of a complimentary gift to that one” he smiled as he handed you a big box, making you look at him excitedly. 

“thank you” you said as you opened it, mouth falling agape at the sight of the projector he had gotten you “you’re kidding”

junghoon chuckled at your astonished look “do you like it?”

“i love it!” you exclaimed as you looked up at him, almost bouncing on your seat with excitement. “we can watch movies in my room with the pajamas on!”

he nodded with a huge smile on his face, unable to contain the overwhelming feeling of love and appreciation he felt for you.

“of course we can, that’s why i got them together,” he said.

“i love them, so much” you smiled and reached to give him a peck on the lips. “thank you”

“of course, lovey” he smiled with slightly reddened cheeks.

seeun — a weighted blanket and a pillow with his face on it.

seeun is a silly little guy. he loves that he can have fun with you always, no matter the circumstances he found himself in. he dedicates his life into making you laugh or even smile, simply because he doesn’t think he’s ever seen something so pretty.

“you always go for the big one first” he complained as he watched you grab the enormous gift that sat under your christmas tree the second you both took a seat on the floor.

“obviously” you refuted, making him roll his eyes playfully. “i think i already know what it is, wait” you said happily as you felt under the paper.

“open it!” he urged you, giddy to watch your reaction to the gift he had put so much thought into.

“so impatient and bossy” you faked annoyance as you began tearing the paper, uncovering a light pink, really fluffy surface. “oh my god, it’s so cute” you cooed as you began unfolding it, not paying mind to the pillow that fell from underneath it yet.

“it’s weighted like you wanted, that way you won’t have a hard time sleeping when i’m not here” he smiled, pride in his chest at the sight of you so happy.

“i love it, thank you so much,” you smiled happily as you draped the heavy blanket on your shoulders, now moving on to the white pillow it came with. “is it a set? that’s really cute,” you said as you hugged the pillow to your body.

“you haven’t even seen the best part, turn it around” he said with a somewhat suspicious smile adorning his lips. you gave him a curious look before turning the pillow around, not being able to contain the loud laugh that came out when you saw what was printed on it.

right there, in the middle of the pillow laid a picture of his smiling face.

“now you won’t miss me as much, see? it’s all thought about” he smugly said as he watched you with stars in his eyes, marveled at the sight of your happiness due to his silly antics.

“i’ll miss you regardless, but i love it so much” you said, giggling still as you hugged the pillow to your chest once again. “now i know you’ll love what i got you”

now it was his turn to give you a questioning look, the pajamas you had made him with your face all over them still packed away and hidden under the tree.

yujun — a bulk amount of collectable items you like.

yujun will always support you, doesn’t matter what it is that you need support on. he loves watching you be happy, and he will always do his best to be part of the reason for your happiness. every little quirk of yours makes his heart soar with cuteness aggression, he just wants to squish you and kiss you every time you get excited about the smallest things. that’s why he will always pamper you and fuel your obsessions.

“i just know there’s at least one hirono doll under that tree” you commented as you watched him finish unwrapping one of the gifts you had gotten him.

he had the habit of wearing anything you ever got him immediately after receiving it, so now you were dealing with your boyfriend clad in a coat, two hats and a pair of sunglasses, making him look incredibly adorable.

“shh, no guesses” he shushed you, making you giggle slightly at his antics as you reached for a particularly big, boxy looking gift with your name on it. “of course you picked that one” he rolled his eyes with fake annoyance, making you even more curious as to what the gift contained.

“that’s not a suspicious thing to say at all,” you laughed, beginning to tear away the paper and smiling even wider when you saw a familiar picture on the box. “yujun!” 

“what?” he asked, a goofy smile on his face as he watched your face light up with joy while desperately tearing the paper off, revealing the big box containing a ridiculous amount of small, hirono mystery boxes.

“you got so many! they’re so expensive!” you exclaimed “and they’re the little prince ones, i can’t do this” you said as you looked at him with excitement written all over your face.

“i know you wanted those, so i looked for them everywhere” yujun smiled proudly at the sight, feeling his heart shrink in adoration at how adorable you looked getting excited over such a simple thing. “wanna open one with me?”

“of course i do!” you happily said as you moved to rest between his legs, cuddling into his chest as you felt him wrap his arms around your middle, holding you dearly against him. you picked one of the boxes and began opening it, holding your breath in anticipation of what the first figurine would be. you were met with a small cloud being held by a little, blonde boy. “you’re kidding me” you deadpanned.

“what is it?” he questioned, peeking from behind you as he rested his chin on his shoulder.

“it’s the super secret edition, there’s like one in 144 chance to get it” you muttered, looking at the figurine with your mouth agape. your boyfriend let out a small ‘woah’ before being tackled by your weight, your limbs wrapping around his body like a koala “i love you so much! thank you, thank you, thank you!”

the boy smiled as he hugged you just as tight “i love you more, ynnie, merry christmas”

hunter —  a box full of your essentials.

hunter always wants you to be taken care of. he doesn’t ever want it to get to a point where you're missing anything, even if it’s soap or a specific kind of ramyeon. his baby doesn’t deserve to wait, everything should be handed to you on a silver platter.

“there’s another one?” you asked, astonished as hunter handed you another gift, this one even bigger than all the other ones he had gotten you.

“just this one, i promise” he chuckled when you gave him a disapproving stare. he always went overboard with the gifts he got you, and although it did make you feel like a princess, it wasn’t needed.

“i don’t need you to buy me so many things, baby” you told him with a small smile adorning your lips. 

“let’s hear you say that again when you open this one” he smiled back. even when you scolded him, he knew it made you feel appreciated when he pampered you, just like it did to him when you did.

you sighed, albeit a little humorously as you tore the paper off, finding a sealed box labeled ‘yn’s essentials’. you looked up at your boyfriend with a questioning look, finding him all smiley as he urged you to open it.

your smile only grew when you did, noticing all the small things that filled up the box. there was anything you could need (or want), from your favorite makeup items, snacks, candy, and food to your favorite hobbies and, new pajamas. you giggled as you lifted up the color by number book and the colored pencils, your heart clenching at how he had even remembered the small things you had once told him you wanted.

hunter watched you intently, looking for your reactions as you rummaged through the box with a huge smile on your face. 

“do you like it?” he asked after a couple of seconds, waiting for you to voice the opinion he could already deduce from your face.

“i fucking love it. thank you so much, my love” you smiled as you left the box on the floor by your side, crawling through the paper-filled floor towards him to peck his cheek repeatedly. “you know me so well, it’s a little concerning but very heartwarming.”

your boyfriend couldn’t help but chuckle at your words “i love you so i pay attention to you, of course i know you”

he had sounded so dreamy that you couldn’t help but giggle like a little girl with a crush.

yechan — a handknit scarf and handmade gift card to compensate.

yechan always tried to surprise you in some way. he knew you loved how unpredictable he was most of the time. It kept you entertained, kept your relationship fresh and fun. still, his surprises weren’t always supposed to be amusing, but also heartwarming as a reminder that he loves you and would spend days on end doing something if it meant making you happy.

“so, i need you not to judge me on this one because i did try really hard” he said, the smile that was present on his lips morphing into a kind of glare of threat and an amused expression. “and if you don’t like it it’s my sister’s fault, not mine”

“sure, sure” you laughed as you grabbed the present from his hands, amused by his antics “i’m sure i’ll love it, though”

yechan couldn’t help but smile fondly at you. he loved the way you always reassured him even when you were joking. “aha, now open it” he urged you, making you roll your eyes and begin to tear the paper off.

you were slightly confused as you unwrapped the piece of knitted fabric. it was long, skinny and completely shapeless until you stretched it completely. “that’s such a cute scarf!” you smiled, immediately moving to put it on.

“you really like it?” he asked, hope laced in his voice as he watched you nod with a huge smile. “i made it myself” he muttered, suddenly sounding a little shy.

“baby, you did?” you asked with a slight gasp “since when do you know how to knit?”

“my sister taught me to because i wanted to make you something” he said, a sheepish smile on his face “i also made this in case you hated it” he pulled a paper out of his pocket, handing you a slip of paper with ‘$100 worth of clothes at your favorite stores as compensation’.

you laughed as you read it, looking up to him while shaking your head. “you’re unbelievable, but there’s no need because i love it.” you folded the paper again, putting it in your pocket “i’m very impressed, it’s really well done.”

“i’m glad that you like it, babe,” he smiled, a blush covering his cheeks because of all the compliments you were giving him. “it only took me like eleven tries”

you chuckled at his words, standing up so you could get closer to him and peck his cheek “thank you for putting so much effort, it means a lot to me” you muttered, giving him a sweet smile.

“you mean a lot to me, it’s the least i can do,” he said before hugging you and kissing your temple, now wearing a proud smile that would decorate his face for the rest of the day.

Hello, first off I have to thank you and Tom for all the advice within your blog! It has helped answer a lot of questions for my wife and I.

it reads very bland to me i guess, especially compared to the other amazons. the gwen-stacy-esque haircut is not doing it for me (and honestly worked better with her late yj98 & yj19 costumes, even if i still didn’t necessarily enjoy it in those either). i believe i saw someone say that she just looks too childish? which rings true for all of the core four rn to be honest. i’m also sad they scrapped her most recognizable color palette (red, gold, black, and white) that matches her friends :( like the blue added in Could work (and has before) but it falls flat imo.

her yj98 costume works a bit better as far as not being bland, but the skirt is just kinda there. this is more of a personal grievance but i really hate when costumes just have skirts just to have them when the character wouldn’t do that? did the person who designed this even read ww87 #153 smh. same with the color palette but honestly i think the jacket works better here, and i’d like to see this flipped into a aviator jacket rather than the jean as a nice middle ground between this and her leather jacket.

tt03 is it’s own can of worms & where the barbie-fication of her design is made the most egregious. these are pretty ok to me though! i think the way she’s presented is more of the issue + the long hair.

this one is 0/10. so many notes. i swear it gets worse every time i see it. only comparable one is the awful skintight n52 suit but at least that one has potential to be made into something cool.

these are definitely my favorite cassie costumes :) i lean more toward the one on the left but i love the shirt on the right. i tend to pull the most inspiration from these two when i draw her.

lastly, i’m a sucker for baby cassie. look at her stupid wig. look at her shorts and her skater gear. u wanna love her.

my adult cassie design from a while back combines her older yj outfits with some armor from other amazons + artemis specifically if only bc i’m sad that their relationship got deleted out of existence. i pulled in a teal as a nod to her blue jeans + to compliment the deep reds and blacks :^) i just really want her in armor… she’s grown up! she can have more details in her costume!

straight away, for sure the financial aspect is gonna be part of it - and i imagine especially so for the cast that participates that had smaller roles. but that aside, i don't genuinely believe that the main cast would continue to do these for so long unless they enjoyed it and got something positive out of it, especially being that they are actively working on other projects too. they actually talked about this, in a way, at this most recent con (nashcon 2024) so i'm going to include some of that - and a bit jared talked about the connections fans have made (chicon 2023). for reasons stated below*, i'm sure there are a bunch of examples of times they've talked about these things i'm not aware of, because i haven't read or watched that much panel content. but here's a small sampling.

to go along with this, i think it's part and parcel to the topic; i really do believe they truly are invested and care about their characters and the story. the way they've talked about the revival/season 16/whatever you call it, they're all in to go back to it. jared even mentioned at one point if they had shorter seasons (which they asked for repeatedly), they might still be making the show. i don't have concrete examples i can point to in panels, but i think if you do watch them talk about their characters much, there's a lot of thoughtfulness and care there.

Would you be open to returning to Sam Winchester? I feel like there are more stories for that character and, with The Winchesters done, it's a weird time to be a Supernatural fan with no new Supernatural on television for the first time in almost 20 years. It is weird, right? It's weird for you to say that and weird for me to realize it. The simple answer to your question is 100%. I will play Sam Winchester again. Jensen will play Dean Winchester again. It's more of a timing and availability thing. In hindsight, Jensen and I have always said "always," if we ever have the option. I think in the last two or three seasons of Supernatural, when we realized somebody might want more, we said "2025. In 2020, we're ending this. Let's get together in five years and see what Sam and Dean are up to." I'm going to see him in a few weeks to talk to him about it again. We've talked about it a few times. He and I are both champing at the bit to see what these boys have been up to and what else good they can do in this world or the next. I'm excited about it. My only contingency about it is, with Jensen and I being so protective of the show and the characters, the story has to be absolutely right. I don't just put on flannel and big coat, get in an Impala and say "Dean!" That won't work for Jared. It needs to have a purpose, as Sam and Dean always did.

and i think they just have fun! they've developed a relationship with fandom that works for them in this format and they get to play around on stage with their friends and entertain people that love them. at the end of the day, it is a job for them, and they are putting on a performance; but i wouldn't be so cynical to think they aren't being somewhat genuine within that framework.

*i actually haven't actually watched many panels! but fortunately for me (us), i have seen a lot of gifs and transcriptions. i have a hard time with the video format for reasons. when i decide to make gifs, it's often because i saw a quote or snippet somewhere and i go looking for the conversation to get a clip of, and sometimes might bump into something else that grabs me while i'm there. fortunately, a lot of the videos on youtube have at least autogenerated captions so i can scroll through the transcript there/search for keywords, etc. @eisforeidolon transcribes selections of questions from cons periodically, which i'm forever grateful for. a not insignificant chunk of my panel related show/cast trivia has been gleaned from those.

Second of all, uh-oh. You asked for it. I don't just have one favorite game, y'see. Having said that, I actually haven't played a wide range of them, for cost reasons, time reasons, and brain reasons - I tend to latch onto a game and play the shit out of it before moving on.

I guess you could say any game that I like enough to actually buy or download is my favorite game. I don't really waste time with games I don't click with. Occasionally it's pretty obvious why I like a game (I bought Xenoverse 1 and 2 because watching DBZ Abridged relit a nostalgia pilot light in me that hadn't been touched in literal decades and boy howdy, did it ever fuckin' BURN after that). But most of the time, why I like a game is just as much a mystery to me as it is to you. Although I have noticed that a lot of my favorites have female leads, or give you the option to make one.

I already did a series of posts on the Pocky and Rocky SNES games, but in short I like them because they were unique (at the time and place where I lived, anyway) - charming graphics, lovely music, and yes - a protagonist who was a girl. A shrine maiden, to be exact. No love interest, just fun adventures with a bunch of monsters. And that meant a lot to a young girl who didn't have a whole lot of video game lady heroines to choose from.

Never in a million years dreamed they'd remake the first one, but they did, and it made me so happy!

Threads of Fate/Dewprism on the PS1 is another favorite. Outstanding soundtrack; I can still listen to Rasdan on a loop without getting sick of it. The game itself has the same low-polygon look as most PS1 games do, but please look up the artwork because it's awesome - or at least, I love the style.

I love the main characters: Rue (dude on the left) is a bit of a sap but not too much, and while I do like his story arc, it does get kind of overshadowed by Mint's. Mint is just badass. She's an absolute brat who - with a straight face - says she's going to take over the world, and at no point does she apologize or feel silly about it, and it's GREAT. Plus she can shoot magic and kick the shit out of people, so she can actually kind of back up her tough talk.

The supporting characters are fun, too. There just isn't enough love in the world for Belle and Duke ("Milady's only 30...if you round down!"), or Rod and his Pinto.

Shadow of the Colossus. I was so, so, so, SO thrilled when I first heard it was getting a remake because it abso-fucking-lutely deserved one. There was nothing like it then, I think there's still nothing like it even now. In a time when almost every game wants to add on, add on, here's more characters to unlock, here's more DLC to pay for, and so on - Shadow of the Colossus is an excellent example of just how much a bare-bones game can still do. There's not much told in the way of story, but in this case they don't really need to. There's a lot of showing and atmosphere over explaining; I like that the game assumes we're smart enough and/or creative enough to fill in the details ourselves.

Much of the game is silent and calm aside from ambient sounds and occasionally calling your horse. But when you enter a battle, then the music and the action ramp up, and suddenly you're trying to find the glowing weak spot on a massive behemoth before it smashes you to death. (And don't think Wander will get up super fast if he narrowly avoids getting smashed to death, either. He'll clumsily stand up, which is a nice realistic touch but kind of rage-inducing if you're trying to keep him from getting hit again.)

The contrast works: the calm makes you appreciate the battles, and the battles can often be so nerve-wracking you appreciate a break.

The world isn't super huge, but it's enough for me. All ruined and abandoned and desolate and slightly melancholy, yet calm and beautiful (especially with the remake).

Skyrim. Ah yes, let's be vanilla as hell, shall we Raku? Let's like that one game that everyone else and their brother and their cousin and their dog likes. This one probably does deserve its own post, though, because there's a lot to unpack. Are there problems surrounding it and Bethesda? Oh hell yes. Was it also a game that provided comfort and humor during a time when I desperately needed it? As well as fertile ground for characters I made and still love? Also yes. Sorrrr-y.

I'll be honest; I have no idea why Dark Cloud 2 is one of my favorites. I don't even remember how I heard of it or why I bought it. There's legit criticism to be had - a few of the voiced lines were clearly mismatched, the weapon upgrading system is fun at first but turns into an utter slog by the endgame, and in general the game tried to do way too much and got in over its head.

But Max and Monica here have good chemistry, the music's pretty good, you get to build your own towns and move people in them, the art style has its charm, and for a time travel plot it's not terrible. Overall the game mostly works, is pretty fun, and the story has its moments.

Okami!! The style, the music, the everything. Just...everything.

Heard there's a sequel in the works, but nothing else about it. But something I want to keep an eye on.

Ys 8. Dana, my beloved. Actually everything here is solid - some time in the future I should scrap the review I did and do another now that tumblr allows better quality pictures. (Plus my tone was...kind of weird in it, honestly. All over the place.)

I love her and the supporting characters - Sahad is best fisherman Dad ever, Ricotta's adorable without being annoying. I thought at first I'd hate Laxia, but she redeems herself pretty quickly, and Hummel's...well, okay, he's basically fine. Even the minor characters are interesting and endearing to me. Lady blacksmith! Gladiator grandma! And of course, as always, best buddy Dogi.

The twists and turns in the story, the graphics are gorgeous, the controls are smooth and feel great, Ys games almost always have excellent music and this one's no exception. Honestly I can't think of anything I dislike about it off the top of my-

Oh right, the fucking wasps in that one dungeon. Those sucked. But everything else? Amazing. 9.99/10.

What's your thoughts on Sol's other not-as-talked-about weapons, the sword with gears on it (kinda looks like a fang of some gear that he super-glued actual gears on to), the sword with squares on it (I used to think that this was only in one piece of artwork but I guess it's the same as one on the art for X Heavy Rock Tracks), the axe, the scythe, the hammer(???) he has on the painted artwork which also appears to be made from a gear fang, maaaybe whatever tf he has in Artworks of Guilty Gear X 2000-2007 cover, and uhhh let's throw in the guitar on Guilty Gear The Original Sound Collection + the bara art version. Btw in the image with the Ky and the horse and the jerky, what weapon do you think he is holding there? I think it's the scythe but it could be another weapon.

I LOVE HIS WEIRD SWORDS SO MUCH. Idk if Daisuke's talked about what the deal with his weapons is in an interview somewhere, but since Toshimichi Mori handled Order Sol's gameplay in XX he might not have. Though, I don't know if Mori's actually drawn Order Sol outside of doing his animation roughs, I wasn't able to find a credits list for XX Slash. Shinnosuke Hino did the character artwork for the three Accent Cores though (the moodier HOS here):

This is important because it means that Mori may have been the one to design Order Sol's iconic slab. It doesn't appear in artwork until XX Slash, despite HOS being drawn quite a bit in the games before that. I like to imagine that HOS went through a bunch of weapons before settling on the slab because they kept breaking and the slab was the first one that actually held up for more than a few fights lol

There is also the possibility that Sol used some kind of magic on the slab. At least two illustrations (by Daisuke) have it shown with "JUNKYARD DOG" carved into it, implying it's the missing Junkyard Dog Mk.I (Mk.II is in Vastedge and Mk.III in Xrd):

It seems like the sword with the weird square things on the pommel stuck around the longest before Daisuke started getting funky with it. The very first Order Sol illustration (from 1998) has it:

The sword on the Heavy Rock Tracks (2001) cover has the square hilt too, though its blade shape is different than the Missing Link HOS's weapon. I like his axe in this one. Maybe he stole it off one of the dead Gears around him? I'm pretty sure the flared version of this sword here returns in a completely unrelated illustration but I can't find it now...

I wonder if the strange translucent gears [literal] sword from GGXX was the direct descendent of the square pommel sword? It's hard to put exact dates on these to know for sure haha

This one is REALLY interesting because it gives a little glimpse into what the state of the Sol lore was like in 2002. He didn't have the Fireseal until after he left the Holy Order, but Ky is also in this painting. So it's during his Holy Order era. Retcon?! (joke) The giant tooth thing is hilarious too. Did he make that??

The last order Sol drawing I know of where he has a weird weapon before he's given the slab in XX Slash is the Artworks of GGX 2004 cover with the strange glowing weapon. This is one of my favorite Daisuke illustrations, it's so sad it didn't get recycled for future projects the same way a lot of his other work did. It seems like he didn't forget about it though, because the shapes on the sword here are incredibly reminiscent of what would later become the Junkyard Dog Mk.II and III.

Nainsoo was so real for redrawing the fucked up Original Sound Collection guitar for the vinyl release. His Sol is such a babe

seeing as I've dedicated myself to being the world's biggest fabricator enjoyer (joke). i think it will be obvious who i'll take the opportunity to talk about :] with some other headcanons thrown in also.

I think a lot of my Fabricator headcanons count as "unpopular" if only because not many people talk about her in general. The first thing that came to mind for me is that I personally headcanon her as trans for no reason other than I'm trans and my favorite characters get hit with my beam attacks. I also think she's not really mean once you get to know her - She's much more relaxed around friends, it's just that she has. One friend total, maybe two if we're being generous with the definition of friend. And I just generally see her as a different kind of "mean" than other people seem to, if that makes sense? She has fun with it, yeah, but she has reasons and such. even if those reasons can be petty. I don't know if she enjoys drama for drama's sake, she's got a reputation to uphold and all. She uses more subtle verbal attacks, sarcasm and such.

Another unpopular headcanon, but for Agent Phoenix this time: My Phoenix is a lesbian. Got them with my beam attack also. I also tend to see them as less... Chaotic? They're cautious, taking their time to figure out the situation. They do still put things in their mouth though. That's important to me.
