I’m using my Calm app a lot these days. When I’m working on my computer, (all day with these online lessons) I set my my iPad up close by that so that I can see it, and I choose one of their calming scenes to watch/listen to while I’m working. rebuilding myself
As I am starting to feel physically stronger, I am finding some surprising areas of weakness that have surprised me.
To combat these feelings, I am trying to build a schedule for myself. I have set an alarm for 7am, I am starting my day with meditation from the calm app. I have my glucometer and morning medication right on the kitchen counter and am eating honey nut cheerios for breakfast before I fall into the junk food and coffee trap.
I am then getting in some relax time with my ipad and I would love to say I get my daily work out in but very often I take a nap. To break this habit, I am trying to spend time at my desk. The idea behind the desk time is when this leave ends, I will have to go back to my eight-hour workday. My brain feels foggy some days and I need to be sharper to work so I am on the slow build up to avoid any issues later.
In the evenings I have been taking a 30-minute walk with my fella which I find is beneficial on many levels. For our health 30 minutes of movement is a great habit to build in these middle years to ensure health in our later years. Emotionally it benefits us as time to be together, time to enjoy our neighborhood and really notice the beauty around us. Confidence wise it is building me up to increase my time out of the house with no uncontrolled bowel movements or vomiting attacks.
My goals for the next few days are to add that 30-minute workout, increased time at my desk and/or using my mind and to stick to the firm sleep schedule. I am going to also try to leave the house each day for at least two hours.

Not so long ago if I was dealing with the stuff I’m dealing with now, my mental health would have suffered. Now I’m not saying I’m not struggling, believe me I am, I’m in a weird headspace but the difference is... I don’t feel like I’m going to spiral. I don’t feel as though I will feel this at forever, I know this bad headspace won’t last. This will pass. Today my therapist called me resilient, I don’t think anyone has ever said that about me! And she’s right, I have battled so much in my tiny life so far and i’m genuinely glad I am here to talk about it all with you. I’m not saying I’m cured, I’m saying that I feel able to manage my mental health better, and it’s taken a long time to learn how. I’m grateful for all the coping tools I now have, I’m grateful for the confidence I have re found, I’m grateful for the people in my life for never giving up on me, I’m grateful for a lot of things and learning gratitude is one of the things that has really helped me. I’m grateful for all the small things because they add up, they make things worthwhile. Art therapy taught me a lot, through expression I managed to get a lot out on paper even if I didn’t understand what it meant! If you can I would highly suggest arts and crafts as a coping tool! It’s what I do now when I feel impulsive! Other things I find helpful for distraction and calming are: Asmr videos, podcasts, phone games, quizzes, feel good films and music, phone calls, joining Facebook groups that align with my interests and much more! I still don't approve of functions like Jesus camp. They're too hard on children. Remember the millstone? Yeah. That. Fanaticism is still as bad as satanism. Don't go medieval on children and adults alike. It does make news, and books and Documentaries and movies and it's not all fake news. THOSE are the people that need to be medicated but sadly, they hold the power. If a child doesn't believe in God? You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Or her. Don't be like The Handmaid's Tale either. I see plenty of that like legal marital rape and I'm sure it has only gone underground. Been watching movies about rapists and how in certain states, they're allowed custody and visitation rights and even deciding what religion to adopt. Things like that make me glad the USA isn't the only game in town. #godmatters #godisfamily #familymatters #weareallfamily #spiritualjourney watching those movies is a downer.
