A gas giant, pale as pearl streaked with delicate pink and green pastels, skirted by dozens of captured child-moons, many of them bearing the same unicorn banner, some of them mined for this or that rare earth element, cities buried under the shielding crust of a scant handful, and two of them habitiformed enough to support imperial hunting grounds - managed grasslands or forests full of imported game - and hunting lodges of squat domes and towering spires, mirrored labyrinthine greenhouse-gardens and treasure-vaults of platinum jewelry set with nebula-gems snatched from their condensation-nests in the gas giant's depths.

Another gas giant, the blues and purples of a ripe plum blushing from clouds of midnight-black marbled with gold, icy rings slicing through swirling lunar orbits, merchants and mercenaries and privateers gliding from port to port in their sapphire-hulled ships, out where the empire scrabbles to find purchase. hollowed-out asteroids house cylindrical farms or monasteries of fatalistic leonine faiths or the huddled bodies of wound-down murine clockwork eunuchs, commissioned to advise and amuse some tiger-empress whose phoenix standard had long since faded into obscurity by the time the founder of the unicorn-banner dynasty first rallied soldiers to his cause.

An Earth-sized ball of grey-green ice, glassy smooth surfaces broken up by cryovolcanoes pumping volatiles up from a sooty core to rain down again in miserable pattering drizzles of methane through ammonia blizzards.

An ice giant, the immense azure sphere its inward neighbor might have been were it not for the vagaries of fate as involved in early star system formation, accompanied by seventeen bitterly cold moons whose tides have woven something enormous and ponderous of thought out of the inner sea of supercritical fluids.

a dozen or more dwarf planets of packed stone and ice, swinging through the outer black clouds on vastly elliptical orbits, witnesses to tumbling nickel-iron visitors and alien probes relaying streams of blurry photography and other observations back to some unknown homeworld as they fall endlessly through interstellar space.

Caribbean calcite tower

Today when I woke up, I had an itch to start building.

It was a familiar itch-- Surely most other people would wait until they had a fully enchanted suite of tools and well established farms before they started any sort of large scale project.

It was the logical thing to do.

I was learning more and more that I wasn't a very logical person.

I took the morning to lay out a simple L-shaped house, throwing a circular tower onto the corner for contrast. I wasn't nearly as good as she was at building-- even the colors I used paled in comparison.

This would be good enough for me.

I was the only one here. Nothing I built had to be up to anyone else's standards. As long as I was satisfied with it, that was good enough.

After I was happy with the outline, I turned to my chests to see what I had enough of to make a house out of. I decided on a living roof, made from jacaranda blossoms and and azalea leaves. But the rest of it fought me.

I didn't have the full range of dark blocks that would really help the lavander to pop. Some-- like blackstone and basalt-- I didn't have access to yet, and others-- like mud and concrete-- would be extremely annoying to gather at this stage and without any infrastructure.

I didn't even have a crop farm planted yet.

After making myself a stonecutter, I got to work. There were so many new cuts to work with for tuff and calcite and even the asurine. I felt like a world of options had been opened up.

The first palette I tried was very pretty, but the purple was almost overpowering. It might look fine here, but as a house?

I pulled the purple back to an accent on my second try, and moved the dark oak up to help add structure to the roof. But there was something about the bricks that didn't quite look right as upper walls.

So I moved the bricks to the foundation, mixing andesite and tuff. The new smooth cuts of calcite and diorite gave the same effect as when you spread thin layers of concrete over wood or mushroom stem. This would be much sturdier than trying to have 'plaster' walls. And much easier this early in a world.

I wish I'd been able to use this before. The illusion of delicacy was one that made me smirk.

It was a good reminder to not judge a book by it's cover.

But now I had three different ways to take this build, and deciding was always the hardest part. Sometimes I would spend days laying out colors and different combinations for them.

• This gorgeous babe is spirit quartz. Every time I do a tarot reading for someone or for myself, spirit connects to me so much faster & delivers concise messages. This helps me get in touch with my intuition too 🤍 And she’s gorgeous! I have a smaller tower out of this and it’s adorable 😤 but so powerful.

• This babe is selenite! Super common but very effective at cleansing other crystals & my energy. It has a gentle effect and its not as intense as black tourmaline, or obsidian. Id recommend this if you want a light gentle cleanse ☺️ because black tourmaline, obsidian and smoky quartz will make you purge shit from your subconscious as a way of cleansing ☺️☺️

• Now, this is the bad boy I mentioned above. Smoky quartz. Absolutely amazing at grounding me and keeping my brain centered during the day. I could be doing multiple tasks and this would help me stay calm. I recommend meditating with this, it brings a stillness & yes it does eventually bring a purging of the subconscious. Anything inside that takes away ur peace will come out ❤️‍🩹

• This lovely little lady is known as cobaltoan calcite 👻 big name for a gentle crystal. I highly recommend this for heart space meditation and working through self love issues. Highly, highly recommend. Its so gentle and encourages compassion for yourself. Its not overwhelming and its nice and easy. It helps your energy flow better.

I have so many crystals 🤡 these are not the only ones, but these are my bigger pieces and I love working with these! Hope ya’ll found this informative 🤍🧖‍♀️

What I Use in My Practice

I don't really classify my practice under a specific kind, it's pretty eclectic but I do focus more on divination and the home.

As a note, please do your research before practicing anything, since some practices are closed to outsiders, and you don't want to be messing with stuff that can backfire royally (mainly baneful and love magic; also applies to practicing closed practices).

I personally say baneful magic and not 'dark' or 'black' magic, as that equates darkness with bad, and lightness with good, which tends to go hand-in-hand with certain societal beliefs.
